Every social media platform has their own set of unspoken rules. Asides from proper social media etiquette, there’s also an unspoken understanding of things we fear the most while we enjoy our favourite website. Lost followers? Cries. They aren’t real? Dammit, Justin Bieber must know my pain (more than half of his followers aren’t real).
Here are just some of the things we fear while we scroll through our favourite sites:
1. Tumblr: looking at porn while scrolling through your dashboard
Scrolling through your dashboard in public is like the digital Russian Roulette because there’s always that one person you follow who likes to randomly reblog porn. Not only do you feel like a perv because it appears right between gif sets of cute cats and Benedict Cumberbatch, but also because you know everyone around you can see your screen.
2. Facebook: Accused of Stalking
Secretsupernatural on Tumblr is on to something. She just had to wonder what happens when you googled Nicholas Cage and Tumblr. For a reference, here’s what you get when you simple Google Nicolas Cage:
And here’s what she got when she googled Nicolas Cage + Tumblr:

Best thing ever, right?
Well, as the inquiring journalists that we are, we just had to see what comes up when you google Nicolas Cage and any other website. Here’s what we found.
1. Nicolas Cage and Facebook
2. Nicolas Cage and Instagram
Are you losing touch with one of your good friends because they’ve become addicted to Pinterest?
Here are ways you can tell:
1. They collect Mason jars and keep extras on hand in case a hipster wedding comes up.
2. They gift you scratchy burlap clothes and expect you to wear them.
3. Every recipe they make includes some form of pumpkin.
If your friend falls under one or all of these categories, you might want to consider hosting an intervention — or rather, Pintervention. At first they might think you’re all gathered for a knitting circle but just express your feelings to the best of your ability. This is a judgement free space.
Amanda needed a little help battling her Pinterest addiction so her friends and family decided to help her out with Pintervention. Can you relate?

The day has come upon us fellow Pinterest users, when the men of the Internet challenge our fortress. Look at them uniting, the trolls, ninja cats, and every other outdated meme, riding to the music of Nyan. The only safe-haven for crafty girls who don’t want to take their tops off is coming under attack from the rest of the Internet. They’ve already invaded YouTube and Tumblr, but Pinterest must protect it’s homepage.
Pull out your Etsy glue guns, fishtail braid every hairstyle you see in sight, take photo bombs and by George, throw every superfood you have at them.
Pinterest will live to see another day. [Source]

There’s a certain person in this office who shall remain unnamed (Casey, it’s definitely Casey) who really appreciates the Nyan Cat. So if he indeed plans to blast Nyan Cat in celebration of its winning meme of the year, I will most certainly be cowering under the table with industrial headphones.
I learned the hard way the first time round, that the Pop Tart cat sings the most annoyingly catchy song in the WORLD.
As I said, that little cat — that came from nothing and went so far — won Meme of the Year at The Webby Awards last night, which is basically like the Oscars here at andPOP. The cat beat out Michelle Bachmann eyes, Texts from Hillary (Clinton) and Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
One of my personal faves, Shit Girls Say, got major kudos too as Juliette Lewis and Graydon Sheppard were named best actresses for the YouTube series. Instead of yawn-worthy, drawn out novels, the winner’s speeches were all five words or less. Lewis and Sheppard kept their simple, with an edge of mystery, as they said: ”We just want to thank …” and left the stage.
There were many Ryan Gosling wins and mentions. An unidentified rep for Pinterest (which won the Webby for social media) accepted by saying: “Pinterest loves you, Ryan Gosling!” Since, hey girl, everyone obvs loves to pin Gosling. Funny or Die also scored a Webby for its Drunk History of Christmas, which starred Gosling, Jim Carrey and Gosling’s girlfriend Eva Mendes.

Let this video be a warning if you’re obsessed with Pinterest.
Taking the photo-sharing and pinboard style website into reality, this woman decides to take and steal anything she likes to form her own pinboard at home. From taking people’s dresses, shoes, plants to even her best friend, this Pinterest-addicted woman will go to great lengths to expand her collection.
Personally, I’ve never understood the hype over Pinterest. I’m already way too distracted on many other social networking sites! That being said, go follow andPOP on Pinterest!
Taylor Swift posts the most adorbz photos on Instagram, the app that girlifies mundane life experiences so they’re ready for Pinterest.
These photos in particular make me want to break out a lacy vintage dress, loop dandelions through my hair and go to a Victorian garden party. Taylor and her buddies, including Glee’s Dianna Agron, donned fancy vintage dresses to honour a special someone.
Taylor writes on Twitter: “We dressed up full-time fancy and went out in celebration of Shirley MacLaine’s birthday.”
Taylor also retweeted Selena Gomez’s photo of the girls baking delicious cupcakes at home while dancing and strumming the guitar. Selena tweeted: ”Because you need a best friend that sings beautifully, another best friend to dance with you and another to listen. Oh and cupcakes… Cupcakes.” LOVE. These girls are just being young. It’s a relief that not everyone young in Hollywood trashes it up at night.
