French band Phoenix have been lucky enough to have their music graced by the spirit of one of the world’s most recognizable musical artists—Michael Jackson! No, they didn’t summon good ol’ MJ in a séance (that would’ve been cool if not slight creepy), but they do have his console! Bass player Deck D’Arcy and guitarist Christian Mazzalai tell ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos how they got the legendary artifact and why they went Bankrupt!
Don’t forget to watch part 1 HERE.
They’re international rock stars, their lead singer Thomas Mars is married to the director Sofia Coppola, and they speak the language of love — needless to say, French band Phoenix are already the epitome of cool.
With their album Bankrupt! in mind, ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos asks bass player Deck D’Arcy and guitarist Christian Mazzalai questions based on their new tracks. From singing in english to what they think should be never be faked, watch and learn from this episode of Small Talk as Phoenix discuss their ongoing quest of cool.
Fall Out Boy picks up where they left off with a new video for “Young Volcanoes,” a song from their new album, Save Rock and Roll. In it, Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley are forced to sit down to the most unappetizing and scariest dinner party I’ve ever seen by their captors from the “The Phoenix” music video.
The band hopes to continue the dark and mysterious plot by creating videos for the album’s 11 songs. Once complete, they will have created one massive music video story.
Without spoiling anything, we predict Elton John will come in and save Fall Out Boy from their nightmare. What do you think will happen next?
Just another reason to wish I was at Coachella instead of rotting beneath a pile of exams and unwanted April snow.
Last night Phoenix took the stage, and as if they weren’t amazing enough on their own, they decided to bring an equally amazing friend along with them. R. Kelly joined the band during their encore for an INSANE mash-up of their respective biggest hits, “1901″ and “Ignition: Remix.”
The quality may not be great, but if I close my eyes and think hard enough, I’m in the front row dancing the night away to the crazy-catchy tune.
Watch the video and be prepared to be floored by the unexpectedly brilliant combination:
With another month gone, here’s a quick look at what ANDPOP was up this March via Instagram photos!

“Go Missin’” – Usher and Diplo
Usher and producer Diplo are at it again, after their first collaboration “Climax” brought Usher back to relevancy. The two make a great team as Usher’s new single “Go Missin’” combines the best of Diplo’s electro dub beats with Usher’s smooth R&B croons. The track starts off with a great synth line and hard beat and just gets better from there.
“Heart Attack” – Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato breaks it down in her new single “Heart Attack.” The usually demure songstress makes full use of synthesizers and vocal effects to bring us this club banger, and boy does it work. Demi sings about being afraid to fall in love but we all know the girl has nothing to worry about with talent like hers. Demi’s new album is scheduled to be released later this year.
Star Trek fans get married in true Klingon style. Re-enacted from an episode from ‘Deep Space Nine,’Jossie Sockertopp and Sonnie Gustavsson tied the knot at “Destination Star Trek,” in London this weekend. I won’t go into detail, I’ll let the video speak for itself. How do I say ‘best wishes’ in Klingon? ..
9-year-old girl shot after she’s mistaken for a skunk
A 9-year-old girl was shot after being mistaken for a skunk at her family halloween party, in Pennsylvania. Her relative saw her outside and grabbed his shotgun, shooting her in the back, shoulder, arm and neck. The shooter hadn’t been drinking, but if I were them, I would’ve lied. This is pretty brutal to mistake a girl for a real skunk. How big are skunks in Pennsylvania? jeeeeez.
Man with Samurai sword breaks up fight in Phoenix
There are so many questions I have for this story. This man witnesses a fight on a light rail train in Phoenix, and just busts out his Samurai NBG! He saves one guy from being beaten to death, and the two guys walk off the train.
First Question, Why do you have a samurai sword on your person on a train?
Second, if it is for a sword training class, what are you training for? Random events such as this? I could go on… I won’t.
I hope that guy thanked him.
M*ther F*cking Snakes on a M*ther F*cking SUV?
A man who was in Englewood for a reptile convention, had his Suburban stolen from a Walmart parking lot. Only thing is, there was a couple turtles, snakes, including a 13-foot long python, tarantula’s and scorpions inside the SUV. Robbery fail at it’s finest perhaps?
53 People sick at Berlin airport due to sh*tty situation
53 people fell ill at a Berlin airport after going into the airport washrooms. I wish it was a really nasty story, like there was an overflow of poop, but no. It looks like washroom cleaners used WAY to much ammonia to clean. People were going in, and breathing in the ammonia, getting sick and sore eyes. Hey, at least you know your toilet was clean.
Another day, another dollar, and another DMX arrest. As sure as the sun will come up, we are sure DMX will get arrested.
MyFoxPhoenix.com reports that DMX was arrested at 6:00pm last night for a parole violation. The violation was not checking in with his parole officer.
DMX has a probation revocation hearing set for November 24.
Within the last year, Tiger Woods has changed his cell phone number five times, reports TMZ. Tiger’s fellow PGA golfer Mark Calcavecchia first recalled this information.
“I didn’t really think about it, but in the course of last year he changed his number five times,” Calcavecchia said on Golf.com.
The fifth time Tiger changed his number, Calcavecchia said to him, “Man, you change phone numbers more than I change underwear.”
Calcavecchia claims that before the scandal broke out, he and Tiger used to text message one another all the time. But since Tiger’s notorious car crash, Calcavecchia hasn’t heard from his fellow golfer.
Johnny Cash?s daughter is upset with a portrayal of her mother as a ?mad little psycho? in the new film Walk the Line.
Kathy Cash was so irked by the wrongful portrayal of Vivian Liberto Distin, Cash?s first wife, that she walked out of a special screening of the movie for her family.
?My mom was basically a nonentity in the entire film except for the mad little psycho who hated his career,? she says.
“She loved his career and was proud of him until he started taking drugs and stopped coming home.”
Kathy also objects to the fact that the film fails to show the singer?s children and their suffering during their father?s fight with drug addiction and their parents? divorce.
However, she praises the performances of Joaquin Phoenix as Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash, the singer?s second wife.
Distin and Cash were married for 13 years and had four children together.
Cash died in September 2003 at the age of 71.
