Phil Collins Daughter Lily Collins Cast as Snow White

Posted by Christian Allaire on April 3rd, 2011

Lily Collins, daughter of hitmaker Phil Collins, has been cast as the princess in Snow White – Relativity Media’s upcoming update of the Grimm fairytale turned Disney classic, reports E Online.

The role of Prince Andrew Alcott, who traditionally awakens the princess from her poison-apple-induced sleep, went to Armie Hammer last week, and Julia Roberts is on board to play the evil Queen as well. Just days ago, The Lovely Bones star Saoirse Ronan had been rumoured to the role of Snow White, but Lily must have worked her fairytale magic, because here she is in the lead role.

The film is due in theaters June 29, 2012 and is directed by Tarsem Singh.

A competing, action-packed take on the fairy tale, Snow White and the Huntsman, will also be released on December 21, 2012 – starring Kristin Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the queen. Both films have big-named casts, so I wonder who will win the battle at the box office? I may be wrong here, but I’m assuming Stewart will be the poison apple to the ticket sales.

I’m really excited to see Julia Roberts in an evil role – she always plays the pretty girl-next-door, so it will be interesting to see her take on a different persona. Collins is a good choice as well, she’s so angelic and pure looking… well, at least compared to Stewart, she is.

Phil Collins of ‘Genesis’ Quits the Music Biz

Posted by Christian Allaire on March 6th, 2011

‘Genesis’ Drummer and vocalist Phil Collins is retiring from the music industry due to medical issues, E Online reports.

Collins says years of drumming has resulted in a variety of health issues, including hearing loss, a dislocated vertebrae and nerve damage in his hands. Collins has won seven Grammy wins, an Oscar, 13 hit singles and more than 150 million albums sold as a solo artist.

This isn’t Collins’ first attempt to exit the music industry, as he has faced much criticism over his music throughout the past years. In 2009, Collins hinted at his approaching retirement on the Genesis website, after he dislocated a vertebrae in his neck that prevented him from playing the drums or piano. He moved to Switzerland to do just that, and now lives in a remote town in the country with his two sons.

“I was going to stop drumming anyway,” Collins said. “I had stopped. I don’t miss it.”

I was never a fan or listener of Genesis, so this news doesn’t really affect me. But being 60 years old and all, I think it’s a good time to retire. I’m sure he’s built up a nice little nest egg to live on, so really, I don’t feel too bad for the guy. It’s time to relax, buddy, you’ve earned it.

Phil Collins Rejoins Genesis for Tour

Posted by andPOP Staff on November 6th, 2006

Phil Collins will soon join some of his old bandmates in Genesis for their first tour together since 1992.

Ex-frontman Peter Gabriel, who left the group in 1975, won’t be part of the tour, according to Billboard. Steve Hackett, who played guitar in the band during Gabriel’s time but left in 1977, won’t play either.

Instead, Collins will be joined by principal members Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford.

Though Banks and Rutherford will tour together this year, Collins won’t be involved until sometime in 2007. An official announcement was expected on Monday out of London.

For Collins, it’ll be his first tour since 2004, when he played a string of “First Farewell” concerts.
