The movie Madagascar has turned itself into franchise with two other movies and a television show dedicated to its rag-tag team of penguins. Let’s also not forget the number of shorts and its long line of merchandise the franchise based on zoo animals can also boast.
The Madagascar movies just get better and better, and have managed to rope in an older demographic. Everyone loves the hilarious characters, implicit innuendos, sharp humour and larger than life plot lines. It also helps that the franchise has a star-studded cast that include David Schwimmer, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
In the most recent instalment, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, their devoted audience has been introduced to a Russian tiger, a sexualized grizzly bear, and an emotional sea lion. It only goes up hill from here.
HERE ARE 17 REASONS WHY WE LOVE THE MADAGASCAR FRANCHISE
1) The mischievous penguins

2) Afro Circus

3) Gloria’s fierceness

4) The car chase scenes
5) Some animals are so fluffy you want to put them in your pocket
When watching animal documentaries, I sometimes think yes, this doesn’t need the gravitas of Morgan Freeman to keep me hooked. While I do love Mr. Freeman’s voice (getting him to read me a bed time story is at the top of my bucket list), animals are pretty entertaining on their own.
Just watch this video of penguins just being penguins. They’re so freaking cute slipping and sliding all the over place. It also wouldn’t even be out of place if you yelled, “Go home, penguin! You’re drunk!” right after they fall. Ugh, penguins. Why are you so cute?
There’s nothing cuter than seeing an animal sweat the small things especially when you know you’ve done the same thing. Take for example this penguin that’s afraid to jump off a diving board.
You can tell that the following probably went through his mind at some point, but just in penguin speech:
Luckily for the penguin that he’s a, well, penguin as the watching audience applauded his cute feat of cowardice. If it were us, we’d get laughed right out of the pool.
While your dog seems to love you, just know that you may not be the only one he loves. Animals can show affection to other animals and boy, are they ever cute about it! Get ready for your heart to melt because animals in love may just be so heartwarmingly adorable.
Sea Otters

The real action in this video happens near the end. The penguin on the right is just going about his day, minding his own business, maybe he’ll take a swim later. But then BAM his “friend” nips him in the butt and pushes the poor guy over the rocks. And I swear, he laughs at the end.
After watching this video, I feel jipped for all the flights I’ve taken that haven’t offered visits from zoo animals, like these cute penguins who greeted passengers on a Delta Flight to Atlanta.
The two penguins, Pete and Penny, flew in first class, just to remind you that they make more money than you (they both work at Sea World). When the plane reached cruising altitude the captain let the handler take them out of their cages for a little stroll down the aisle. The little guys were having so much fun they didn’t want to get back in!
If you’re a fan of penguins, dancing, and Pink (never really thought it was possible for a movie to showcase all of those at the same time…), then you’d better be heading to the movies on November 18th for the release of Happy Feet 2 in 3D!
The movie not only features star singer Pink in the movie as Gloria, but it even features her vocals on multiple songs from the soundtrack, highlighted by a song of her own, Bridge of Light.
This song works perfectly for a movie because the instrumental aspects of it are very moving with simple lyrics to display emotions. Lyrically, the song isn’t the strongest, but when you take into consideration that it’s part of the soundtrack of Happy Feet 2, it kind of makes sense.
The song talks about how even in the darkest situations all you need is love to build a bridge of light. So if you’re in the kind of mood that only a bridge of light could solve, be sure to give it a listen.
