There’s something about certain male actors over the age of 40 (but have yet to hit the 50 mark) that makes ladies and men of all ages goo-goo-gaa-gaa for them.

Patrick Dempsey is finally getting some love from People magazine.
After coming in second three years running in the publication’s infamous annual ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ list, the actor has beat out the best in Hollywood for the title of ‘Star of the Year’.
Grey’s Anatomy fans everywhere know him as Dr. McDreamy but this year, the 41-year-old actor made big waves on the big screen by starring in the current box-office hit Enchanted.
But the father of three doesn’t appear to be letting his star power or heartthrob status get to his head.
“I’m just enjoying life more than I ever have … I’m trying to enjoy the moment while it’s here and to be able to provide for my family so that I can step away and enjoy raising them away from all this,” Dempsey says in the issue, CBC.ca reports.
People gives nods to eight other stars who made a mark in the entertainment world this year. Featured entertainers are Dempsey’s co-stars Katherine Heigl and Amy Adams, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Carrie Underwood, Will Smith, Christina Applegate and Ben Affleck.
Grey’s Anatomy hottie Patrick Dempsey is expecting a child with wife Jillian Dempsey, a representative for the actor said Wednesday.
It will be the couple’s second child; they already have a four-year-old daughter, Tallula Fyfe.
Dempsey first met his wife in 1994, when he went into her salon for a haircut. They married five years later at his family’s home in Maine.
The new season of Grey’s Anatomy starts up Sept. 21 on ABC.
