I don’t know many 90-year-old athletes, but this man amazes me. Proving that athletics are timeless, Dr. William Bell, a 90-year-old pole vaulter and father of 1984 Olympian Earl Bell, proves that he still got hops.
Dr. Bell, who currently holds the world record in pole vault for his age group, still jumps three times a week at his son’s training facility in Bono, Arkansas.
Seeing that I stopped competitively training for Track and Field two years ago, this man has somewhat inspired me to start running again. He just proves that anyone of any age can succeed if they put their minds to it!
Getting electric wheelchairs to move look challenging enough. But as this elderly man proves, anything is possible. Going up a flight of stairs, he conquers them in seconds…and amazing all of us.
What a boss.
