Brown is up for best male R&B artist, viewer’s choice and video of the year for ‘Look at Me Now.’ He’s also nominated twice in the best collaboration category for his No. 1 hits ‘Deuces,’ featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall, and ‘Look at Me Now,’ with Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne.

Brown is also getting recognition for his acting, as he is nominated for best actor for his role in the heist thriller ‘Takers.’

Lil Wayne is nominated five times, three of them coming from his guest appearance on Brown’s ‘Look at Me Now.’

Kanye West, Drake and Rihanna are up for four awards each as well. Alicia Keys will perform and comedian Kevin Hart will host the award show. It airs live on June 26 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Wow, can we call this a Chris Brown comeback? I personally still think he’s a douchebag, but Rihanna-related-events aside, I guess his music is pretty good. We’ll have to tune in to see how many awards he actually wins. I know he deserves to deal with the consequences of his actions, but its good to see him on some sort of path to recovery, both career-wise and personal-wise.

The MuchMusic Video Awards (MMVA’s), set to take place in June, will see Queen and John Streets transformed with celebrities, screaming fans, live performances, and, of course, awards.

This time around, Toronto’s own rap prince Drake is in the nomination lead with a total of seven, reports Yahoo! News. The awards show comes right after Drake releases his highly anticipated debut album, Thank Me Later.

Vancouver band Hedley follows behind with six nominations, and GTA pop sensation Justin Bieber comes in with four nominations. Other notable nominees include Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, and Miley Cyrus, who will also be hosting the awards show along with MuchMusic VJs.

Cyrus, Bieber and Perry are also scheduled to perform at the show.

Posted on andPOP:

Lady Gaga is set to bring her outrageous fashions and chart-topping tunes to Toronto next month as a performer at the MuchMusic Video Awards.

The show, to be co-hosted by the Jonas Brothers, will air live on June 21 starting at 9 p.m., preceded by a red carpet special at 8 p.m.

Currently on tour in Australia, Lady Gaga told MuchNews that she was looking forward to her appearance at the MMVAs.

“MuchMusic is so amazing and they are so supportive,” the singer said. “I love them even more for playing my ‘Love Game’ video because they won’t play it here in Australia. They think it’s a bit too x-rated. I don’t think so; I think it’s fashion and art.”

Canadians have reciprocated in their love for Lady Gaga, with two of her singles – “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” – going six-times platinum in the country.

Meanwhile, MuchMusic has announced the nominations for this year’s awards show. Nickleback and Danny Fernandes nabbed a leading five nods each, while Mariana’s Trench followed closely with four. All three acts are up for the video of the year award.

Other multiple nominees include Classified, the Midway State, Lights and k-os.
