Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj announced they would not to return to their American Idol chairs for a second season, Thursday night.
Carey will soon be embarking on a world tour while Minaj hopes to focus her attention onto her upcoming album.
“Mariah Carey is a true global icon – one of the most accomplished artists on the planet – and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the American Idol contestants this season,” said the show’s producers in a statement. “We know she will remain an inspiration to Idol hopefuls for many seasons to come.”
Another statement was later released as Minaj announced her decision right after Carey’s hit the media: “Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to American Idol and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season. Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”
With the departure of Carey, Minaj and long-time judge Randy Jackson (who left earlier this month), it seems country star Keith Urban is the only judge left on the panel. The show has yet to confirm who will be taking over their roles. There has been wide speculation that the 13th season of the reality show will feature an all-alumni panel that may possibly include Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. One could only hope.
It’s been an eventful year for Amanda Bynes. Too bad it’s not much of a good thing as The Amanda Show vet has become a tabloid staple with stories of her scandals, outrageous comments and unpredictable behaviour appearing week after week.
It has become almost painful to watch someone so talented get arrested tweet scandalous things. I have a lot of feelings; this is more sad and unfortunate to me more than anything. She has such potential, and this doesn’t need to happen. IT DOESN’T NEED TO END THIS WAY!
The whole situation has just gotten sad, and we need to brighten it up in some way.
Firstly, bring out the dancing lobsters.

Secondly, we just found five people who look like Amanda Bynes because who is she trying to become this week?!

“Horizon” – Daft Punk
As if there wasn’t enough hype surrounding Daft Punk and their long awaited new album, the DJ duo released a bonus track only available in Japan called “Horizon.” Surprisingly, (or completely un-surprisingly, whichever way you want to look at it) the track sounds nothing like a Daft Punk track and more like a haunting track aliens would play at a funeral.
“Do I Wanna Know?” – Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys fans will be glad to know there may be the possibility of some new music coming from the British rockers. At a recent show in California, the boys debuted a new track, “Do I Wanna Know?” Amidst the screaming fans and hazy video quality, there’s the making of a dark, bluesy track with a driving pace and psychedelic feel.

I seriously don’t know the relationship status between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. I thought they were back together but I just can’t assume these things anymore. Last month Selena’s on/off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber landed a double cover of Teen Vogue, and now it’s her turn to grace the newsstands with her cover of InStyle.
But Selena’s won’t be the only face you see on the magazine shelves, here are June’s other cover stars:
Demi Lovato
Selena’s former BFF gets on the magazine action too as she cover’s the June issue of Company.
Miley Cyrus
However, when it comes to former Disney child actresses none can compare to Miley Cyrus. She is this month’s cover megastar! Not only did she land a double cover for Elle UK but she also got three covers for V Magazine. It’s safe to say that we’ve all moved on from Cyrus’ Hannah Montana days as she is a bona fide high fashion darling.

Jennifer Lawrence and Sarah Jessica Parker share a moment on the red carpet.
It can be tough to find the right outfit for the Met Gala. There’s so much pressure to be dressed the best and the competition is steep! Like I said in Part 1, this year’s punk theme might have been a bit too high concept for some people to wrap their heads around. So while some celebrities made some honest but failed attempts at going punk, some celebrities completely ignored the theme all together. So here are our choices for the ones who did not quite make the best dressed list and the ones who completely missed the mark all together.
The Blahs
There’s a lot of the classic Taylor Swift elements going on in the dress, but I find the black so jarring on Swift. Perhaps if this was in Swift’s go to white colour it would work better.
Blake Lively looks like she is channeling her inner Black Swan, but there’s nothing very punk about this.
I love Jennifer Lawrence but this just seems like a case where a celebrity was contractually obligated to wear this design. J. Law is the face of Miss Dior so it makes sense why this happened. It’s pretty but not amazing.
Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” gets re-mixed with some help from Nicki Minaj. The dance worthy track is heavy on the bass and fun as Minaj delivers a badass verse.

Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox turn the clocks back, way back, to bring you a 1940′s inspired cover of Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s “Beauty and the Beat.” While the lyrics are too contemporary for this kind of cover, the difference in lyrical and musical styles is kind of cool. The singer, Robyn Adele Anderson, also has a pretty kick ass voice, not to mention very pretty hair. It’s charming, sounds great and is incredible unique. Who knew Justin Bieber was timeless?
Needless to say, Nicki Minaj is known for her over-the-top, loud, sometimes bat-shit crazy looks. Basically, where there’s a wig and some pink lipstick, there’s Nicki Minaj under all of it. So it was a surprise to finally see what the rapper looks like underneath all of those layers.
Minaj took off all (or at the very least, most) of her make-up off for an Elle Magazine-sponsored make under.
“”When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I’m so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it’s hard,” she told Elle. “I feel that it’s become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol’ crazy lashes— you know, nothing— I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes.”
Well, we think so, too! Minaj looks stunning without the crazy so we hope this will be a look she turns to for any future red carpet events. Maybe she’ll finally find her way on a best dressed list!

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF NICKI MINAJ’S MAKE-UNDER?
Dear Furby Living,
This is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen. Furbies on their own were creepy enough as it is with their large eyes watching you and their creepy little voices talking when no one has even said anything. They’re also just one step away from becoming gremlins, just add water.
So why in the world would you think it was a good idea to turn furbies into celebrities?
Furby as Taylor Swift? Creepy.

Furby as Nicki Minaj? She looks like she’s going to kill me.

Furby as Azealia Banks? This is the stuff nightmares are made of. Read more…
Remind me again why she doesn’t sing regularly on Glee? Jane Lynch stopped by Conan O’Brien and proved that her musical talents are just as strong as her acting chops when she did an impromptu rendition of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” for the talk-show host.
Sophia Grace and Rosie better watch out. She may not be as cute, but her skills are just as good.
Nicki Minaj went on Ellen this morning to talk about the feud she apparently had with Mariah Carey a few months ago that was caught on video. Minaj says she “cannot hold a grudge,” and she doesn’t know if Mariah Carey is holding one. If she is? Minaj doesn’t care.
Minaj begged us and Ellen to believe that she’s NOT psycho. She also told Ellen about the strenuous hours already spent on the American Idol set, fearing she’ll say something nasty during upcoming live shows. Leave it to Ellen to eloquently tell Minaj what SHE thinks the popstar’s true problem is — that “Logical Nicki” likes to step back while “Crazy Nicki’s” passion gets the better of her.
Minaj also talked to Ellen about her dating life, specifically her ring and her New Year’s kiss. I’m not sure what is more embarrassing… being grilled on your dating life or being psychoanalyzed by Ellen Degeneres.

Justin Bieber’s dancers got super creative this week after the realization that their flight from Atlanta had been cancelled. The natural solution? Dance.
In the video, the dancers totally confuse passers-by whilst dancing to Beiber’s song “Beauty and the Beat” featuring Nicki Minaj. The flashmob is kind of cute because its like a small tribute to Bieber and their love of dance. All randomly taking place in the midst of an airport on a seemingly regular day.
“Scream & Shout” — Britney Spears & will.i.am
Seems like Britney Spears has been hanging out a bit too much with X-Factor exec Simon Cowell, because she’s rocking a pretty heavy British accent on will.i.am’s new track “Scream & Shout.” Off will.i.am’s upcoming album #willpower, the pop princess and hip-hop genius make magic together. The track is perfectly produced with will.i.am’s futuristic touch, and Brit’s famous line “It’s Britney, bitch” makes a comeback all the way from 2007s “Gimme More.” Although the collab sounds like a match made in heaven, I would have liked to hear Brit singing a little more. Oh well, it’s still going to make you dance your pants off. #Willpower hits stores early next year.
“No Worries” — Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne pays homage to Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in his new video for “No Worries,” which sees him replaying the famous drive through the desert and Vegas shenanigans from the film. Wayne plays the gonzo journalist with the infamous sunglasses and cigarette holder, his long-haired pal rides shot gun, and the two spend the rest of the video roaming through a casino high on ether. Enjoy!

Freedom – Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj’s new track “Freedom” is a surprisingly intimate reflection of her success in the rap industry and her rise to stardom. Off her upcoming album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, Nicki suppresses her usual animalistic antics rapping confidently but tamely. She sings also sings the slow hook, and actually has a pretty controlled set of pipes on her. It’s a very non-Nicki track, but a welcomed change. The Re-Up features collaborations with big names like Ciara, Tyga, Cassie, and Lil Wayne. The record drops Nov. 19.
Blank Page – Christina Aguilera
In a pop music world dominated by scantily clad young girls, hard beats, auto-tune, and dubstep drops, poor Christina Aguilera has had a hard time trying to fit in and stay relevant (does anyone remember the monstrosity that was Bionic?) Finally, the songstress seems to have found her own with her upcoming album Lotus. “Blank Page,” the latest track to be released, is very reminiscent of “Beautiful,” with a soft piano, and X-tina’s inhumanely powerful voice being showcased in all its glory. We aren’t sure whether Blank Page will be released as a single, but it could make for an extremely successful ballad. Lotus hits stores Nov. 12.

Last night No Doubt pulled their video “Looking Hot” after online commenters complained the video was offensive. The music video included Native American imagery, such as a teepee, smoke signals, feathers and headresses.
YouTube commenters and online bloggers were quick to bash the video for insensitively appropriating Native American culture, and soon after, No Doubt took the video down and issued an apology.
In a post titled ”In Regards to Our ‘Looking Hot’ Music Video” on their official website, No Doubt wrote:
As a multi-racial band our foundation is built upon both diversity and consideration for other cultures. Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialize Native American people, their culture or their history. Although we consulted with Native American friends and Native American studies experts at the University of California, we realize now that we have offended people. This is of great concern to us and we are removing the video immediately. The music that inspired us when we started the band, and the community of friends, family, and fans that surrounds us was built upon respect, unity and inclusiveness. We sincerely apologize to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video. Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are.
The track was the follow up single to “Settle Down” from their sixth studio album Push and Shove. Did you see it? What did you think of it?
While No Doubt didn’t intend for their music video to be offensive, many artists before them have released music videos deemed too insensitive by major networks. And sometimes that’s the whole point…
Seven controversial music videos
Madonna — “Like A Prayer”
When the music video for “Like A Prayer” was first released people were shocked at its Catholic iconography. The video tells the story of a black man wrongly accused of murdering a child. Madonna witnesses the whole thing and later kisses a Saint on the mouth. This is heavy stuff, especially for 1989. The Pope wanted to ban her from performing in Italy.
Nicki Minaj — “Stupid Hoe”
Nicki Minaj‘s “Stupid Hoe” was so controversial that BET banned it from airing. Although they didn’t specify why, it was probably because the raunchy lyrics. The count? Minaj says stupid hoe an astounding 52 times and f*ck 10 times.
Lady Gaga — “Alejandro”
Because of the religious imagery, MTV chose to air Lady Gaga‘s “Alejandro” only on its sister stations after midnight. Gaga’s video combined Catholic imagery with sexual themes like S&M and androgyny. Gaga, who wears a latex version of a nun’s robe, even ingests rosary beads in one scene. Needless to say, she was criticized by everyone from Katy Perry to the Catholic League.

Miley Cyrus dressed up in a skin-tight suit, a blonde wig and some butt padding to channel her inner Minaj-goddess. The star tweeted this photo of her awesome Nicki Minaj Halloween costume — and apparently Nicki is in love. “Oh my god. She is the best Nicki Minaj impersonator I’ve seen in my life,” Nicki said in an interview with USA Today. I’ve seen a few other Minaj impersonators around this Halloween, but Miley’s takes the cake.
She isn’t the only celeb dressing up for Halloween. The stars got into costume to celebrate Halloween this year. Some are colourful, creative, and others are just plain weird.
Here are 5 more awesome costumes worn by celebs:
1. Lucy Hale as a rave unicorn
2. Chris Colfer as a “llama assassin”
3. Emma Roberts as her aunt, Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman
Noisey‘s Josh Haddow’s heart unintentionally melted a little bit at a recent Nicki Minaj concert, when he realized his undying affection for the American rapper. The resident musicologist routinely conducts anthropological field studies with music fans to cast a portrait of each subculture. He found Skrillex fans to be mildly inarticulate while One Direction fans were pretty defensive.
What he discovered about Nicki Minaj’s fans: they’re great fun and pretty eclectic. However, his study was suddenly interrupted upon laying eyes on a Nicki Minaj poster and changing the course of his questions. “Do I stand a chance with Nicki Minaj?” he asked fans. He returned to his hotel room with a renewed sense of hope and vigour for life. Nicki Minaj can do that to you…

Alicia Keys’ new music video for “Girl On Fire” is an ode to super mom. You know, the moms who work so damn hard to keep everything together but never let the frenzy show on their face. The positive concept of the song and music video is a refuge from the club bangers on the radio and much more inspirational than tracks about hooking up, breaking up and smoking up.
This version also erases Nick Minaj’s verse, which seems to make the song flow better, plus I don’t know where Minaj would fit in the video.
Watch it here:
Sorry ladies! Unfortunately, “Jerry” does not make an appearance in the “personal” footage that was “stolen” from Justin Bieber. I’m using quotation marks because it turns out all the drama was actually a well executed stunt from Bieber incorporated. The good news is, Beliebers can rest easy knowing that Justin was never in any real danger of being exposed or humiliated. Furthermore, we got a new music video that’s highly innovative. The new video for ‘Beauty and The Beat’ features Nicki Minaj and was entirely written, directed and shot by Justin. So in the end everyone wins because if someone had actually stolen something from Bieber they would probably be executed by now.
