Anderson Cooper Rips Snooki

As we reported earlier, Snooki had her dream come true and became a news anchor for the day. However, CNN’s Anderson Cooper isn’t liking Snooki taking over his turf.

“I for one am not at all surprised to see that Snooki counts anchoring the news among her myriad talents,” Cooper said, before mocking her coverage of global warming and aliens. After replaying a clip of Snooki talking about Hurricane Irene knocking out power for her TV, phone and computer, he turned to the camera, put on a pair of glasses and said, “Oh believe me, Snooki, I know what it’s like to be powerless. Powerless against your charms.”

He also said the major networks lost a huge opportunity by not using Snooki as an anchor. The full clip is below:

One of Snooki’s life long dreams has come true. And no it’s not a GTL gang bang. Snooki had the opportunity to be a news anchor.

Cambio had Snooki do the news, where she spoke about Hurricane Irene and Beyone’s new baby.

“There are some stories coming out in the news and I have some serious opinions on them.” Snooki explains. “I’ve always wanted to be an anchor woman and, hello, I look hot doing it.”

Her thoughts on Irene? She’s devastated that the people of the East coast have been left powerless — they can’t straighten or blow dry their hair and they can’t even update their Twitter or Facebook status.

Thoughts on Beyonce’s recent baby news? “I really think [Beyonce's] going to have a really cute baby — tan obviously,” Snooki says.

Well done Snooki.

Meredith Vieira Leaves ‘The Today Show’

It’s a sad day for morning television.

‘The Today Show’ co-host Meredith Vieira is leaving after five years. As her voice quivered and as she fought back tears, Vieira made the announcement today, saying “I’ve decided to leave ‘Today’ in June.”

Vieira took the co-host seat next to Matt Lauer five years ago, replacing Katie Couric.

Meredith says she made the decision “after months of personal reflection and private conversations with my family and friends.”

She added, “I’m really sad because … for the past 10 years this has been my second home.”

Vieira says she wanted to spend more time with her husband, Richard, and her kids. The famous television personality, who also hosts ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,’ noted “I really hope to stay with the NBC family … that is my goal.”

Lauer said Vieira “has brought class and dignity and talent and a joy of life to this show for the last five years.”

Vieira will be replaced by Ann Curry.

All the women of ‘Today’ keep leaving, yet Lauer remains. I wonder if he’s the problem. Or maybe he just really loves his job. I would, if I was in his position! I wish Vieira the best in whatever she decides to take on next.

Oprah Has a Half-Sister

Oprah Winfrey let some major news out of the closet this past weekend – and no, it wasn’t Gayle King!

The 56-year-old announced that she has a half-sister named Patricia living in Milwaukee. O had no idea she had a sibling until Thanksgiving last year when she discovered that her mother, Vernita Lee, gave up her sis shortly after birth due to money constraints. Oprah, 9 at the time, was living with her father and had no idea about the pregnancy!

Winfrey has been teasing the huge news since last week through promos for the show, saying “I thought I’d seen it all. But this, my friends, is the miracle of all miracles…This time, I’m the one being reunited.”

Tune in today to watch Oprah and Patricia make their television debut!

Kelly Ripa Caught Off Guard Regarding Regis Philbin Retirement

TMZ reports that Kelly Ripa found out only 15 minutes before air that Regis Philbin was retiring. Although she was shocked, she was nevertheless supportive of the decision.

TMZ says that Regis kept the news a secret as he was afraid of leaks prior to the official annoucement.

So the question remains, who is going to replace Regis?

Saturday Night Live Reunion

Adam Sandler and his former “Saturday Night Live” co-stars Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade are planning a comedy flick alongside “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” actor Kevin James.

The film will follow five high school buddies who reunite on a July 4 holiday weekend after 30 years. Sandler co-wrote the comedy that will be directed by “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” director Dennis Dugan according to Variety.

In other news, rapper Snopp Dogg has sealed a deal with MTV to host a variety show called “Dogg After Dark.” The show will feature celebrity interviews, performances by artists and sketch comedy. “Dogg After Dark” will air for seven Tuesdays consecutively starting February 14, according to E! Online.

Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins and Oscar nominee Josh Brolin are set to join an ensemble cast for Woody Allen’s next movie. The film written by Allen will start filming this summer in London.

Woodruff Makes First Visit To ABC Newsroom

ABC newsman Bob Woodruff who was injured in Iraq last year made his first return to the ABC newsroom since the attack, Reuters reports.

“It was the first time many here had seen him, and he was greeted by a spontaneous round of applause. You could literally see the emotion in each hug,” Jon Banner, the ABC news executive producer, wrote in his blog.

Woodruff reportedly told his colleagues that they were on his mind after he woke up from his 36-day coma. Woodruff and his cameraman were injured after a roadside bomb exploded near the military convoy they were traveling in.

Before his injury, Woodruff was named co-anchor of “World News Tonight” with Elizabeth Vargas after the death of Peter Jennings. However, Charles Gibson recently took over the anchor desk because of Vargas’ pregnancy and the uncertainty of when Woodruff will return to work.

ABC Changes Anchors Again

ABC’s anchor desk is changing for the second time after the death of “World News Tonight” anchor Peter Jennings last year.

Charlie Gibson, who most considered to be the front-runner to succeed Jennings, will be taking the desk from Elizabeth Vargas (who is pregnant and expected to start maternity leave soon) and Bob Woodruff (who was injured in Iraq last year and hasn’t returned to work yet), eOnline reports.

“I am humbled to accept this new assignment. I have witnessed first hand the grace and determination of every member of the staff of World News Tonight. I look forward to joining the extraordinary team and to helping the broadcast start a new chapter,” Gibson said in a statement.

Gibson filled in on the “World News Tonight” desk after Jennings died and before Vargas and Woodruff were announced as his successors. Gibson was reportedly originally asked to fill the vacant anchor seat, but he declined the offer.

“World News Tonight” is currently in last place in regards to the ratings of the three networks’ nightly news programs. Gibson will begin anchoring the program on Monday, but will also continue co-hosting ABC’s morning show, “Good Morning America” with Diane Sawyer until June 30.
