After a change in their line-up, Evanescence is back with their first album in five years. To celebrate the release of “Evanescence” (2011) we ignored everything musically relevant to discuss cats and dogs with the band’s frontwoman. Part 4 of 4 of our interview with Amy Lee (who is one of the nicest people alive FYI). Subscribe to catch the rest of the interview where we talk about the band’s hiatus, playing the harp and Evanescence’s legion of fans.
Rihanna announced via Twitter that her new album is due in the fall.
One of her Twitter followers asked, “When’s the next album due?” Rihanna exuberantly replied, “THIS FALL!!!!!”
In July producer Verse Simmonds spoke to MTV News about the progress of the album.
“From what I understand, she’s closing the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved, and I’m really excited about them as well,” Simmonds said. “They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts.”
Jessica Simpson tweeted that she’s starting to think about a new album. She asked her fans for some advice.
“What kind of music would y’all want from me on my next album? Thinking about going back to the studio,” Jess wrote on her Twitter account.
Jessica Simpson is busy these days with her new fiancée and designing jewellery for Zales.
Drake took to Twitter to annouce his next album Take Care will be out October 24th.
Drake spoke to Entertainment Weekly, where he opened up about his team for this new album.
“There are about three or four major opinions that I respect. Obviously, the main one would be [engineer and producer] 40 (Noah Shebib). He’s worked with me every single night I’ve set foot in the studio since Comeback Season. He knows what I’m capable of and he’s not afraid to say “You can do that better” or “That’s it” or “I know you can write a better verse than that.” And Oliver El-Khatib, who has progressed from my friend who just used to advise me on how to dress to a guy who came up with the artwork for So Far Gone to, since he’s such a creative brain, that he’s become one of my managers. Then my DJ Future the Prince has a great ear for music. And probably the most important person in the equation is Hush, who is a friend of mine who grew up rapping in Toronto and he’s present every night. If anyone knows what I’m capable of, it’s Hush. We love rap the same way and we have the same exact ear. So I know he’s hearing what I’m hearing. I never take criticism personally from anyone. I love feedback, but especially when it comes to Hush. He understands rap probably better than anyone else I mentioned. And he’s a close friend of mine.”
Kesha fans will need to wait until Spring 2012 for the next album by the pop singer. Producer Dr. Luke confirmed this via Twitter.
Dr. Luke has produced a number of hits for Kesha, including “Your Love Is My Drug.” He said when asked “are we gunna [sic] get a new Kesha album soon?” by a Kesha fan over Twitter, Dr. Luke replied, “not this year…. close to may….”
The new album will be called “Spandex.” She has definitely come along way since our first interview in 2010.
Hayley Williams of Paramore has revealed the band has written four more songs for the next record.
“We have written four new songs and they are quite diverse,” Williams said. “There are some heavier songs, but there’s also one that we plan to play live soon that is called ‘In The Morning Mess.’” She added, “I can’t really say that ‘Monster’ is an indication of what to expect on the next Paramore album. We, as a band, will always try to evolve and try new things. It will be different for sure, but it will still keep Paramore’s essence.”
Charlie Sheen was stopped by a photopgrapher where he dropped some hints about his new BIG TV show, with a BIG time producer.
“I don’t want to piss Joe Roth off … it’s a movie he produced a few years ago. I don’t know if i was supposed to say anything,” sheen told TMZ.
Roth produced Major League, Alice in Wonderland, among others.
Sheen added, “Look through his films and you’ll see which one makes the most sense … and it’s not “Coup de Ville.”
Any guesses on what the show could be? Look at Roth’s Wikipedia page for some clues.
Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has formed a new supergroup, reports The NY Post. Members of the group include Eurythmics star Dave Stewart, Damian Marley, Joss Stone and Indian musician and producer A.R. Rahman.
Jagger has been secretly recording with Stewart, Bob Marley’s youngest son Marley, jazz-influenced Stone and Rahman, who won two Oscars for ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’
A source said, “They just finished a record and their first video and are talking to major labels about a deal. The name for the band at the moment is Super Heavy.” Another source said, “Each member has a very distinct and different style, but it works. Mick has been recording with Dave for a while, and both worked with Joss in the past.”
But a rep for Jagger said, “They all thought it would be interesting and great fun to go into the studio and play some music. No video has been shot, no label in place. All a bit premature.”
Jagger’s first effort sans the Stones, 1985′s “She’s the Boss,” was less than a hit. Former Stones member Keith Richards wrote in his memoir, “I’ve never listened to [it] the whole way through. Who has? It’s like ‘Mein Kampf.’ Everybody had a copy, but nobody listened to it.”
Sounds like quite the mix of artists – it could be an interesting record. Stone and Jagger are definitely a great mix, they both have that bluesy tone to their voice, so I can’t wait to hear what they come up with.
Lady Gaga has just released ‘The Edge of Glory,’ the third single off her upcoming album ‘Born This Way.’
Take a listen below and let us know what you think. It’s a different sound for her! More electro/rock, more ballad, more voice-intensive.
This is definitely going to be a smash.
It looks like Entourage producer Mark Wahlberg stopped talking to animals long enough to make a new comedy pilot!
The project, called Home Game, was purchased by mega network CBS and should launch into production soon. The show is loosely based on the life of the show’s co-producter, Superbowl vet and NFL pro Mark Schlereth.
Sports! Comedy! Together! Very inventive Mr. Wahlberg. Say hi to your mother for me, ok?
Any thoughts on the new pilot? Is this a money grab on Wahlberg’s part or do you think the show actually stands a chance?
It’s been confirmed by Perez Hilton that Madonna is indeed dating her choreographer, Brahim Rachiki.
Though Madonna’s reps have endlessly denied that the pair was canoodling for keeps, Rachiki’s mom begs to differ. She had this to say:
“My mouth fell open when I realized that my son was Madonna’s new boyfriend. It’s something I’m still trying to come to terms with. Madonna was already a big star when I was a schoolgirl, let alone when Brahim was growing up. The whole situation is very strange indeed – surreal even.”
Translation: Madge is a cougar and my son is the cougar bait!
We’ll never understand Madonna’s MILF appeal. She seems like a scary cold spider woman to us! Ah, well, as long as they’re both happy…
Kanye West has announced he will be making a 40 minute music video, which is ironic considering his last video was unusually short.
West tells NY Mag the concept for the video is “the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth” who becomes his girlfriend before she is discriminated against and burns herself alive to escape the criticism.
West further explains “I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.”
So what do we think? Will this video help resuscitate his career?
http://www.twitter.com/andpopsideb “We’re not good enough to play for longer than five minutes at a time.” That’s forgivable, considering they can do very, very well in those five. Tokyo Police Club has earned a great deal of praise, and, of course, attention. (They appeared on both Letterman AND Desperate Housewives!) Fortunately, they felt a bit less pressure while creating their latest album, “Champ”.
Miley Cyrus is showing the world she is not a little girl anymore. So what is she becoming? A bird called Aves Cyrus?
With her new video “Can’t be Tamed,” Cyrus transforms herself into an Aves Cyrus (a new breed of bird apparently), which is a sexy bird species that “Can’t Be Tamed” (get it)?
E! Online suggest that the bird thing demonstrates Miley’s new ambition to “spread her wings.” Anyways the song has the basic Top 40 pop ingredients and as you can see below, the video looks pretty good. We are confident when her new album drops June 22nd, it will perform quite well.
What do you think of the song and video? Is it a bunch of BS about a girl coming of age? Or is it a respectable song and video?
Sorry, Toby Maguire – it’s time to hand over the spandex.
According to sources close to the young star, 18-year-old Logan Lerman has been handpicked to replace Maguire as Peter Parker in the next Spiderman, reports The Cinema Source.
Those who have seen Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief will recognize the young Californian when he slips on the red and blue uniform in what is said to be a prequel to the Spiderman saga. Marc Webb, best known for directing indie love cheese 500 Days of Summer, will spearhead the new installment in this silver screen adaptation of the Marvel comic classic.
After learning of Omarion’s impressive resume of singing, acting, songwriting and producing, it’s hard to believe that he is only 25 years old. He’s what you would call a veteran in the entertainment field, and his latest album, Ollusion, could prove he’s got staying power.
Omarion’s self-described “aggressive, energetic, exciting and passionate” sound that will be demonstrated in Ollusion, out Tuesday (Jan. 12), has already excited his fans, after the recent release of the single, “I Get It In” featuring Gucci Mane. The video features Omarion’s slick dance moves in a simple black-and-white contrast that compliments the catchy beat.
“I wrote every song,” Omarion tells andPOP. “I think people can connect with personal moments in the album. When you’re singing about something that’s true to you, it’s like talking about something that’s true to you. So that’s the reason why the whole album is really personal I guess. I think it’s better that way.”
Amy Winehouse is making headlines again, but this time it’s on her own terms and not that of her drug-addled alter ego.
Winehouse was outfitted with a new set of pearly whites this weekend, repairing that sly grin on the cover of Back to Black that deteriorated in the wake of her excessive substance abuse, according ot Perez Hilton.
Perhaps more noteworthy though, though it’s hard to tell when it comes to Winehouse news, is the record label she launch today.
According to NME, Winehouse’s Lioness Records is officially in business. The first release will be from none other than Dionne Bromfield, Winehouse’s 13-year-old goddaughter, called Introducing Dionne Bromfield. Winehouse told NME she named the label after a necklace her grandmother gave her, and the label’s format was inspired by legendary Motown and 2Tone Records.

Ever wanted to look like Avril Lavigne? Well now is your chance. Canada’s punk princess has conquered the music world and now is out to conquer the fashion world with her new line Abbey Dawn. Jordan spoke with Avril and her husband Deryck about the newest project during the Toronto launch.
As American Idol gears up for a new series this fall, its roster of judges is expanding its horizons.
Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne will be the latest stars to sit alongside Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul’s replacement Kara DioGuardi during the last round of auditions in Los Angeles.
Throughout auditions, the show has welcome Victoria Beckham, Shania Twain, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Mary J. Blige and Kristen Chenoweth to have their say.
Abdul abandoned the show in August in a rather abrupt move that many speculated had to do with salary. But in an interview with the New York Daily News, Abdul said the decision was more about pursuing her career (whatever’s left of it.)
