Recover from last night’s party

Whether you were celebrating with friends, family, or woke up with the person you met last night, it’s time to get back to reality. School starts back next week and you probably have a work shift to get to. 2012 was fun while it lasted, but make sure 2013 is even more memorable! [getinmystockingleo]
Be kinder to others

Okay admit it, Mean Girls is hands down one of your favourite movies, am I right? Even though the whole flick is hilarious, you could learn a few lessons. If there’s a new student transferring from Africa (or anywhere else) be the bigger person and let them sit with you! In the end, nobody likes a “Regina George.” [photographyxox]
Cut down on the calories

I get it. That chocolate bar is tempting. Those chips are addicting. Those cookies smell so fresh. But guess what, 6-months down the line will be summer and you’re gunna be kicking yourself wishing you DIDN’T eat what you did months ago. Be prepared to show off that beach bod. [debramorgan]

New Year’s Eve is the night to wrap up a wonderful year with friends and family, but honestly, it can be a drag if you’re single. When the clock strikes midnight and all the couples start smooching it can get awkward standing in a corner with your loved one, Captain Morgan. Don’t turn to Adele tunes or Ben and Jerry’s:

Whether alone or with a group of fellow single friends, you can skip the parties, choose your comfiest pj’s and watch these great movies instead.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Bridget Jones’ s Diary stars Renée Zellweger as Bridget, a singleton who makes a resolution to better herself and work on dealing with her imperfections. From her weight to her lacklustre dating life, she fills her diary with every honest thought. She later finds herself wrapped in a triangle when both her womanizing boss, played by Hugh Grant, and frenemy played by Colin Firth, fancy her.
Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist
This isn’t technically a New Year’s movie but Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist offers laughs and is all about moving on from horrible relationships. I thought it deserved a spot on this list. Nick, played by the adorable Michael Cera, is depressed after his girlfriend breaks up with him. Meanwhile Nora, played by Kat Dennings, is stuck in a horrible friends with benefits situation. When these two meet they realize they can do better and find themselves on an adventure when they lose Nora’s friend in New York. Plus it has an amazing soundtrack so it’s a win-win!
When Harry Met Sally
Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan play the original “friends with benefits” couple in this popular 1989 New Year’s flick. After being friends for years they consider the possibility of a more intimate relationship but fear it would make things awkward. And how can we forget THIS memorable moment?

200 Cigarettes
Set in 1981, 200 Cigarettes stars Ben and Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, Christina Ricci and Paul Rudd, all playing characters in their 20s on their way to a New Year’s party. This film is all about dealing with relationships and being lonely, so it’s perfect for the occasion.

Hot off his split from wife Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher steps out on the red carpet with a nice suit, a smile and a hot, younger co-star.
While many rumour are swirling of Demi allegedly already moving on with another man, Ashton’s not afraid to be seem flirting with “New Year’s Eve” costar Lea Michele.
The “Glee” actress was rocking a very low cut metallic dress and a whole lot of double sided tape. Is it just me or does she look like Demi Moore but only 30 years younger? I’m just thankful that Ashton finally got rid of that half-assed beard.
Do the two stars, who played each others love interests in the film, look like they’re more than friends at the premiere? Are they pulling a Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson and only pretending to go out so they can promote the movie? Check out all the photos from the saucy red carpet at Oh No They Didn’t.
Good news – you will be able to celebrate New Year’s with Lady Gaga. Gaga will be performing on ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2012.”
“Lady Gaga is one of the most exciting and relevant artists of our time, and we’re thrilled to have her join ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ this year in Times Square,” Seacrest said of her addition to the lineup.
This particular year is especially special as it’s the 40th anniversary of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
Radar Online is reporting that former co-stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds went to the same New Year’s party this year and “danced the night away [together]” according to one source.
Bullock and Reynolds, both newly divorced, attended a Roaring ‘20s costume party at Sandra’s restaurant Bess Bistro in Austin, Texas. The pair made no effort to hide their cozy chill time, taking pictures together which are now apparently up for sale.
“They got friendly after they made The Proposal together,” explains a source. “They’re buddies.”
Buddies indeed! We’re calling these guys our Favourite Budding Couple of 2011.
It looks like David Arquette will be following in Lindsay Lohan’s footsteps…all the way to the Betty Ford Center.
Radar Online reports that Davie boy spent New Years Eve partying it up at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with a friend, something that is not really a good idea for a recovering addict.
Arquette, who surprised the pants off of the general population after announcing his split from former Friends star Courteney Cox, checked himself into the center this weekend. It’s unclear what he’s been admitted for, but we’re guessing it’s pretty serious stuff, especially after a major New Year’s binge!
Would we be horrible people if we said we’re not surprised?
True to her word, Lady Gaga finally gave the world a big surprise via Twitter. On Christmas Day, Gaga tweeted that she would have some big news for her followers on New Year’s Eve.
On her tweet last night, Gaga unveiled her new album cover for ”Born This Way,” and also specified the release date for the album.
The Grammy winner tweeted her provocative, pantsless black-and-white cover image, and said: “THE SONG 2 13 11 THE RECORD 5 23 11.”
What that means is a Feb. 13 release for the single, and May 23 for the album, her second studio effort.
So that was the big Gaga news. Was it worth the wait?
“Jersey Shore’s” Snooki is going to have to find another way to bring in the new year after her hamster stunt was banned from Times Square. Snookers had originally planned to spend New Year’s Eve in a glass ball, like a hamster.
“The Snooki ball drop isn’t going to happen in Times Square,” an insider tells PopEater. “At midnight, the crowd and the media will be watching Mayor Bloomberg, Dick Clark and the official ball drop, not a cast member of the ‘Jersey Shore.’”
“No way would they allow this to take place. MTV rents a position in the Square that night like every other media outlet. You can’t get access to the Square without an official credential. You have to play by the official rules or you get kicked out, which is exactly what has happened to MTV and Snooki,” an insider tells PopEater.
Lady Gaga will be making a huge announcement on New Year’s Eve about her upcoming album, Born This Way.
Gaga tweeted “Merry Christmas little monsters! I love you with all my heart. My gift to you is a BORN THIS WAY announcement Midnight on NEW YEARS EVE. -MM.”
No other information was provided by the pop queen. Anybody have theories on what the announcement could be?
Are you going to be in New York City or Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve? Are you looking for a safe way to get home? Well Diddy is looking to help you out. In Las Vegas street teams will be handing out $15 taxi debit cards between 8:00pm and 11:00pm local time. In New York City street teams will be handing out one way subway metrocards between 8:00pm and 11:00pm local time.
The Microsoft Corporation will webcast New York City’s Times Square New Year?s Eve 2006 countdown in real time on MSN Video, informationweek.com reports.
This will be the second year MSN Video will carry the broadcast, starting at 7 p.m. EST. The webcast is expected to last six hours.
Unlike last year, however, viewers will be able to choose their own camera angles and the events they wish to view thanks to 26 cameras covering performances all over New York City.
Microsoft said viewers last year spent an average 45 minutes on average watching the live coverage.
