Pop icon Cyndi Lauper has joined the Broadway cast of The Threepenny Opera, which is set to open in April.

Lauper will play Jenny, the prostitute.

Edie Falco of The Sopranos was supposed to play Jenny but she recently dropped out.

Also in the cast is Alan Cumming, Ana Gasteyer of Saturday Night Live, and singer Nellie McKay, who recently split with her record label two weeks before the scheduled release of her second album.

Opening night on Broadway is April 20, with previews in late March.
