In a statement on their website the band explained, ”He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show [Thursday] night in Auburn, Washington.”

MCR added — “The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives.”

Michael posted on Twitter, ”What happened is more complicated than it sounds but I did make a mistake. It was never my intention to hurt this band or all of you.”

We are curious what he stole. Any ideas?

“It’s pretty awesome to wake up in the city that you grew up in,” confessed Hull, moments before opening for My Chemical Romance and Blink-182 as part of the 2011 Honda Civic Tour. It would almost seem that, other than sharing a stage, lyrical honesty and vulnerability is about all that these three bands have in common.

“It’s fun man, they’re all really kind people,” says Hull about being on the road with MCR and Blink. It’s been a sleepless summer for Hull and company, leaping between a plethora of festivals from Montreal’s Osheaga to Chicago’s Lollapalooza. “It’s been quite an experience to play these venues. It’s definitely this casting vision tour to really see how big a band can get. It’s kind of crazy. And [Blink-182] is definitely a band that represented a huge part of our childhood.”

“I used to hide [Blink-182's] ‘Take Off Your Pants and Jacket’ from my mom all the time,” adds keyboardist Chris Freeman, dawning a black MacBeth Footwear t-shirt, a company owned by Blink-182′s singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge.

Manchester Orchestra was founded by a 16-year-old Hull in 2004 with his buddies: bassist Jonathan Corley, Freeman, guitarist Robert McDowell and drummer Tim Very. Their suburban Atlanta walls likely plastered with posters of the English city Manchester, a city that has spawned musically rich children from Joy Division to Oasis to Stone Roses.

“Growing up at 16, we pretty much named the band after the Smiths,” reminisces Hull as he looked to Freeman’s smile. “It was a band we were all really, really into.” He also cited the range of musical influences to be “anything from Pavement, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Granddaddy, the Weakerthans, and the Flaming Lips.”

The five grew to produce arena-worthy anthems that hinted at an intimacy of an “indie rock” mix-tape. This signature sound was honed in 2005, while playing over 200 shows behind their first release: “I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child.” A massive sound emerged that rippled exploration into issues of life and the human condition, essentially shredding the chains that age and experience wrapped around him.

Inspired by classic nineties efforts like Nirvana’s “In Utero” and Weezer’s “Pinkerton,” the band shifted their distorted textures to create their sophomore album, “Mean Everything to Nothing.”

After opening for their friends Kings of Leon at Madison Square Garden in 2010, the band went into the studio to patch together a musical vengeance of emotion. Almost like Dylan’s “Blood on the Tracks” responded to his carnage of relationship, Hull painted a comparably darker and more modern picture of the lover’s debris. Its melodies sound like enlightening promise, yet the undercoated lyrics protest distraught and failure (check “Virgin”at the band’s website).

Their third full-length album, “Simple Math,” surfaced in May and critics have praised its intimacy and Rolling Stone magazine found it “tough to look away”. It debuted at No. 21 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 8 on the magazine’s Rock Albums chart. A mixture of spiritual and marital confessions, it’s not just a few good songs; it’s an album.

“We made a strong commitment to each other that we wouldn’t make any records that were a step backwards or even a step on the same plain,” Hull looks at Freeman, almost like reaffirming a non-verbal agreement. “So that was pretty simple. We just wanted to step it up and make something that was grand, potentially better. But, still have it feel like a counter-piece to our record before.”

Freeman notices that, “the writing process was kind of easier on ['Simple Math'] and it felt natural.”

For the first time, the band recorded without former drummer Jeremiah Edmond, who parted ways with the band in January 2010 to focus on his family and the band’s record label, Favorite Gentlemen. “He was such a power drummer,” Hull says. “It was cool to work with guys who had a different feel, finesse and pocket to their vibe. We were playing outside of what we were used to doing when it came to recording and writing. It allowed us to explore different areas.”

This fall, the band will be dedicating their time by embarking on a 25-city tour in the U.K. and across the States. Aside from their hometown, the band is looking forward to playing their namesake.

“It’s one of the coolest cities we play, the people are so appreciative of us,” says Hull, cracking a Jack Nicholson-esque smirk.

Imagining the scene, Freeman chuckled to himself, “those Manchester crowds are crazy.”

“They’re just ready to get it on.”

The band said the decision was made about four weeks ago, but was not announced until last Wednesday (March 3).

“This was a painful decision for all of us to make and it was not taken lightly,” Frank Iero, the band’s guitarist, wrote on the band’s website on Wednesday. “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.”

No reason was given as to why Bryar has left the band, and nothing has been said on who might take his place as drummer.

Despite the internal problems, Iero is pleased so far with My Chemical Romance’s new music to follow 2006′s The Black Parade.

“We have been writing some very powerful songs so this week the four of us entered the studio once again, and what has been ending up on tape each night is some of the most exciting and honest work we have ever created,” he wrote.

In a hard time, Iero remembers what, and who, is important at the end of the day.

“As a band we have been very fortunate over the years that our sweet times have greatly outweighed the sour ones, and a great deal of that is owed to you, the fans,” he wrote.

Universal Pictures is adapting the comic into a feature film, with “Constantine” scribe Mark Bomback tapped to pen the screenplay, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Besides the 2005 DC Comics adaptation starring Keanu Reeves, Bomback’s writing credits include “Live Free or Die Hard” and the recently-released “Race to Witch Mountain.”

“The Umbrella Academy” revolves around a group of disbanded superheroes who reunite after the death of their mentor, Sir Reginald Hargreeves. An alien disguised as a wealthy entrepreneur, Hargreeves adopted the members of the team soon after their birth and trained them to save the world. With his passing, the superheroes must carry on the mission.

The comics were first published as a six-issue miniseries in 2007 and won the title of best limited series at last year’s Eisner Awards, which honour creative achievement in American comic books. A second miniseries is in the works.

Posted on andPOP:

My Chemical Romance is set to cover a classic Bob Dylan tune for the upcoming “Watchmen” movie.

Director Zack Snyder told MTV News that MCR frontman Gerard Way, being a “huge fan” of the graphic novel on which the film is based, made the first move.

“Honestly, he contacted me, just as a fan,” Snyder said of Way, who studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and is working on a comic-book series for Dark Horse called “The Umbrella Academy.”

“[He wanted] to say like: ‘I hope the movie’s cool.’ And then we went, ‘Hey, maybe we can do something.’”

Snyder, who previously directed the epic “300,” revealed that they are currently working with MCR on putting together a song for the end titles, with one of the possible covers being “Desolation Row” off of Dylan’s 1965 album “Highway 61 Revisited.”

The director said he has listened to some of the band’s initial Dylan demos and described them as “pretty freaking cool.”

MCR’s cover aside, the movie’s soundtrack is set to feature original versions of songs from the ’60s through to the ’80s, including Jimi Hendrix and Simon & Garfunkel.

Created by Alan Moore, the “Watchmen” series was first published from 1986 to 1987 and revolves around a group of unconventional superheroes who are forced to confront a conspiracy.

The graphic novel made it onto Time Magazine’s 2005 list of “the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present,” where it was praised as “a heart-pounding, heartbreaking read and a watershed in the evolution of a young medium.”

The movie, starring Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will hit theatres in spring 2009.

Posted on andPOP:

Illness has forced MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE star FRANK IERO to pull the plug on the group’s European tour and head home to America.

Frontman GERARD WAY announced Iero was heading home during the band’s recent Wembley Arena show in London, but he refused to divulge details of his bandmates medical issues.

Iero also left the group during their January tour in Japan after developing an infection in his sinuses.

My Chemical Romance guitar technician MATT CORTES has been drafted in to replace Iero for the remaining dates of the group’s European tour, which ends in Denmark next week.

Posted on andPOP:

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE frontman GERARD WAY is still ashamed of video footage featuring him intoxicated and throwing up.

THE BLACK PARADE rocker is a recovering alcoholic and he only has to look at his band’s 2006 live DVD LIFE ON THE MURDER SCENE whenever he feels like having a few stiff drinks to realise how foolish he is when he’s drunk.

The footage features a drunken Way throwing up behind a tour bus – behaviour he is not keen to repeat.

He explains, “One of the hardest things to deal with is looking foolish.”

But Way insists his drunken behaviour, caught on camera, will help fans who think it’s cool to drink away their troubles.

He adds, “It was important to show how foolish I was and send a message that there’s no glamour (in that).”

The video footage was shot two years ago before the singer/songwriter sought help for his drinking problem.

Posted on andPOP:

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE frontman GERARD WAY has branded KASABIAN “ignorant”, after the British band recently slammed his records as “ventriloquists’ music.”

The WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE singer insists he was amused by Kasabian star TOM MEIGHAN’s comments.

Meighan said, “It’s like ventriloquists’ music. It’s weird and dark. They don’t have anything positive to say. The only good news is that it won’t last. These clowns won’t be around for much longer.

“Their make-up will flake off and the scene will die out. And it can’t happen soon enough.”

But Way hits back, “It was obviously meant as a slam, but it was so poorly worded that it ended up sounding like a compliment!. ‘Weird and dark’… that just makes them kind of ignorant.

“This band has never had a bulls**t war ever. I haven’t found an opponent worthy enough yet.

“If you’re gonna take me on, you’d better have the balls for it! If you’re gonna talk s**t about us, you’d better have the juice. And we haven’t found anybody with the juice yet.”

Entitled “Life on the Murder Scene,” the CD part of the combo will feature rare tracks and demos, while the DVD will feature videos, live performances, online content and a video diary that follows the band’s progress since its inception.

Posted on andPOP:

My Chemical Romance have announced plans for their first headlining tour this fall.

The New Jersey-based rock band will hit 28 cities, with Alkaline Trio and Reggie And The Full Effect as opening acts, reported Billboard Thursday.

The band will be touring in support of its 2004 sophomore album ?Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.? The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard?s Heatseekers chart and has sold more than 826,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The singles ?I?m Not Okay (I Promise)? and ?Helena? reached No. 4 and No. 11 respectively on Billboard?s Modern Rock chart.

According to a spokesperson for MCR?s label Reprise Records, on-sale dates and the tour?s start date have not yet been determined.

Venues have also yet to be finalized, but a preliminary list of cities in which the band is slated to play includes Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

The headlining dates follow MCR?s current run on the Vans Warped Tour, which brings the band to eastern Canada this week.

After the fall tour, the band plans to head to England for 10 dates beginning Nov. 1 in Wolverhampton.

News of the headlining tour comes just days after MCR received four nominations for the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. They received nods in the Best Rock Video, Best New Artist in a Video, MTV2 Award and Best Choreography in a Video categories, all for their epic, goth-inspired piece for ?Helena.?

MCR previously revealed to Billboard their plans to incorporate a strong visual and theatrical element into upcoming shows.

?We?re really interested in actually putting on a show,? guitarist Ray Toro said in discussing the possible inclusion of live dancers and film projects.

?I think it?s something missing. Bands get on stage, play their songs and have some lights, and that?s cool, but we really want to try to take it to the next level.?

Toro also spoke of new material the band had begun to work on between supporting Green Day on their spring tour. A few of these tracks could pop up in their live shows this year before the band returns to the studio in early 2006, said Toro.

“Playing songs live to gain a reaction to see if it works is kind of risky because for the most part, people just stand there wanting to hear something they know,” he said. “But we plan to try them out and see how they feel.”

Meanwhile, the band is enjoying their meteoric rise to fame.

“It’s like a script,” Toro said. “Everything is going according to plan. It’s pretty nuts.”
