If you’ve carefully listened to any song on the top 40 charts, chances are you’ll hear a whole lotta’ product placement.
Analyzing the current retail value of various products name-dropped in popular hip-hop/pop songs, NYC digital artist Joe Sabia and the members of The Key of Awesome list out general prices of things ranging from electronics to luxury fashion designers in a fun little mash-up.
I do have to say that while the performance isn’t the greatest, you gotta give these guys some props, yo!
While they may not be as young and hip like we are, this video sure makes me think about the amount of influence music has on our spending habits.
Anna Kendrick is the latest person to jump on the K-Pop bandwagon as she teams up with super girl group F(x) for this Funny or Die video!
“America’s Sweetheart” gets the full k-pop makeover, complete with recording sessions, dance rehearsals and the obligatory new look. “I look like I’m in Cloud Atlas,” she said. Don’t forget to look out for F(x)’s Victoria as channels every single Pitch Perfect fangirl (GPOY, amirite?).
The Tumblr Actresses Without Teeth is basically why we won’t sleep tonight. Here’s who’ll be haunting our dreams:
1. Taylor Swift (she was in Valentine’s Day, okay?)

2. Ellen Degeneres, Katy Perry and Portia De Rossi

3. Kristen Stewart

4. Emma Watson
Remember how in high school the tambourine was the most jokes instrument because, well, who can’t play the tambourine?
You shake it up and down, side to side, and it jingles. If you wanna get creative, you hit the pad inside the rings if your tambourine is more evolved.
What I didn’t realize is that tambourine playing is an art. My years playing percussion in high school never brought me to this point with the tambourine (that’s because the snare drum was a lot cooler).
Some people clearly take tambourine playing quite seriously, and this man is one of those people. In this video a man shows us how real musicians play the tambourine. I’m not sure whether to be mystified, or fearful.
The youtube viewers also seem to have some words about this artistry.
You keep dancing, tambourine man.
Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump gets bloody and bruised in the band’s new video for “The Phoenix.”
A group of female bandits kidnap Stump as he’s carrying some precious cargo and torture him throughout the gritty video. Not everyone is safe as the other band members fall victim to the black-clad kidnappers. “Phoenix” is the first single from their upcoming new album, Save Rock and Roll.
Since announcing their return, Fall Out Boy has been hard at work recruiting big names. The band hinted late last week that none other than Courtney Park would be featured in one of the tracks. The band tweeted “It’s @Courtney, bitch #SaveRockAndRoll” with a link to a six second video.
Bassist Pete Wentz has also confirmed that Elton John would also appear on the album. While teasing Love’s contribution, Wentz wrote, “someone else in addition to Elton John.”
Save Rock and Roll is scheduled to be released on April 15th.
Down With Webster has released it’s first single since the release of their album Time To Win, Vol. 2
The single “One In a Million” has just been released as a lyric video. The song will be made available on iTunes March 26.
The song is upbeat, fun, and perfect to jam too. It’s your typical Down With Webster song. It is bound to be on the radio, and you can be sure it will be that one song you blast because no matter how many times you listen to it, you will want to jam along.
Upsetting the angsty 13-year-old in me, My Chemical Romance announced yesterday that they are calling it quits after 12 years together.
In a statement released on their website, the band said:
“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.”
Being my first concert ever, I’m clearly “NOT OKAY” with this like many of their fans.
Here are 10 reasons why we’re upset about My Chemical Romance’s break-up.
1) They made marching band outfits stylish:
2) They made teens feel “OKAY” about themselves:
3) They were also the masterminds behind every angsty teen’s theme song:
While Rachel struggles to come to terms with Brody’s secret, the McKinley kids indulged in their favourite guilty pleasures.
Here’s what you missed on last night’s episode, “Guilty Pleasures”
Guilty Pleasures
Mr. Schuester is out sick and instead of cancelling Glee, Blaine and Sam decided to take over and gave the group an assignment for the week. Inspired by Sam’s macaroni art (he does a mean Emma Stone), they decide everyone should sing a song by one of their guilty pleasure artists. Bring on the Wham!, Barry Manilow and Phil Collins!
He’s Got a Crush on You
Blaine may have thought his crush on Sam was a secret, but nobody else did. Sam spent the whole week trying to get Blaine to admit he was his guilty pleasure, but when all Blaine could come up with was Phil Collins, he finally admitted that he knew. It is really amazing that he doesn’t have a problem with Blaine’s feelings – although I’m sure with his looks he’s used to the attention.
Bitch Problems
The Glee club has 99 problems and they’re all Kitty (in this episode, anyways). She was admittedly the most hated girl in school, so she appeared on Fondue for Two to clear her rap. And when she revealed her biggest guilty pleasure was the Spice Girls, it was hard for everyone to hate on her. Let’s face it; the Spice Girls are the solution to every problem, ever.
Team Breezy
it’s turning out that 2013 is indeed Beyoncé’s year. A Destiny’s Child reunion, then Super Bowl Half Time show, an HBO documentary, her own meme (courtesy of a bad PR move), a Vogue cover and now a high profile H&M campaign, these are all the reasons why we’re supposed to bow down to Beyoncé, right?
The above photo is just a small peek at the actual ads. The singer looks just as gorgeous as ever sprawled on a beach chair and dressed in very spring and summer appropriate looks which I’m sure the public will eat up once it gets a little warmer (kind of having a little bit of climate envy over here).
According to MTV Style, Beyoncé shot the campaign for the Swedish cheap and chic retailer in the Bahamas earlier this year. H&M will strategically release the full campaign as Queen Bey kicks off her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour on April 15th. The retailer will peg it all as “Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M.”
Who runs the world? Beyoncé.
Walk Off The Earth’s Mike Taylor speaks on camera for what is possibly the first time ever in this ANDPOP exclusive.
Known as the “beard guy” to countless YouTube commenters, Taylor plays a round of ping pong against ANDPOP’s host Simon Mohos before he and the rest of the band embark on their world tour.
Walk Off The Earth exploded onto the scene after the band’s 5 people 1 instrument cover of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know” went viral. The band have since gained over 300 million video views on YouTube alone and over a million subscribers.
For Taylor, “R.E.V.O.” (Realize Every Victory Outright) is more than just an album title—it’s how the band leads their own lives. He says he wants to inspire their fans to “shoot for the stars, stay positive, don’t let anything get in your way and realize your goals.”
“Do something you’ll believe in that’s fresh, a little different,” he said.
As Taylor spills the secrets on how to live a happy life to Simon, Simon returns the favour by teaching him how to say the Hungarian equivalent to “F—k, yeah!” It’s a skill we’re sure will come in handy when the band lands in Budapest, Hungary during their world tour.
Make sure to watch the video below to not only hear him speak but to see who comes out victorious in the most vicious and exciting sudden death ping pong match you’ll ever see.
Selena Gomez is all kinds of adorable, even if her Spring Breakers‘ character hopes to break her out of that mold.
It’s hard to think of her as anything but sweet especially when she’s singing the “Mario Kart Love Song” with Jimmy Fallon on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Will they start selling their duet on iTunes? I want. Now.
Ever wanted to listen to the same kind of music as your favourite characters on TV? Now is your chance.
Step into the shoes of Carrie Bradshaw and listen to the music she would most likely be bopping her head to on her train ride into the big city. Although a lot of this music didn’t exist in young Carrie Bradshaw’s time, she would probably be a fan of Robyn and The Scissor Sisters.

Like all will.i.am songs, his new track is catchy, up beat, and sure to take over the club scene.

If you’re someone who failed to solve a Rubik’s Cube a countless number of times, then you’re in luck.
Rapper DeStorm helps you figure out the complicated puzzle, providing you with the tips and tricks of the Rubik’s Cube with a fun rap song.
It’s refreshing to see some educational rap. Now I’m trying to imagine my high school math teacher using this technique to teach us polynomials.
If you were confused and concerned about Lil Wayne’s condition last night, you can now breathe a little easier. Contrary to what was being reported, the rapper is now recovering after being hospitalized for multiple seizures.
Things blew a little out of proportion last night when TMZ initially reported Friday evening that Lil Wayne was in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles following a seizure.
The rapper was was first hospitalized on Tuesday night. He was released the next day but was soon taken back to the hospital after he was found unconscious in his room.
According to TMZ, the situation was extremely serious, with them reporting that Wayne was being given his last rites and that his family was surrounded around him to say their goodbyes. The update has since been deleted.
But contrary to this report, rapper Mack Maine tweeted that Lil Wayne was “alive and well” while another rapper Birdman tweeted,”My son is in good spirit…feelin much betta…be home soon. YMCMB.”
But if that didn’t satisfy those who were still in doubts, Lil Wayne officially tweeted, “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.”
So with all of that being said, this has been one confusing ride. I’m still trying to make out what happened exactly, but his story goes to show that one must confirm all sources before publishing something!!
This must have been terribly embarrassing for TMZ.
Hopefully they’ll acknowledge their error so that future stories won’t go the same way.
Are you sick of Justin Timberlake yet?
“NO,” said everyone on the planet.
Ending his crazy, packed week with featured appearances on SNL and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Timberlake treated his fans with the fourth round of History of Rap with his partner in crime Fallon.
Covering the likes of Biggie, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z and Eminem, you can be sure that EPIC-ness ensued.
So instead of seeing me blab on about how amazing this is, just watch.
And it’s amazing! After Hayley Williams openly admitted she had been suffering from writer’s block, a lot of people were left wondering whether or not Paramore’s new music would be as good as it has been in the past. No need to worry folks! The group’s newest track is great, and is will make a welcome addition to the existing Paramore on your iPod.
One listen to the extremely catchy tune will have you bobbing your head and tapping your feet, and by the end you’ll be up and out of your seat in a full blown, rock-out dance party. I love it, and I’m really glad to see they’re doing fine after the departure of Josh and Zac Farro.
Needless to say, Nicki Minaj is known for her over-the-top, loud, sometimes bat-shit crazy looks. Basically, where there’s a wig and some pink lipstick, there’s Nicki Minaj under all of it. So it was a surprise to finally see what the rapper looks like underneath all of those layers.
Minaj took off all (or at the very least, most) of her make-up off for an Elle Magazine-sponsored make under.
“”When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I’m so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it’s hard,” she told Elle. “I feel that it’s become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol’ crazy lashes— you know, nothing— I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes.”
Well, we think so, too! Minaj looks stunning without the crazy so we hope this will be a look she turns to for any future red carpet events. Maybe she’ll finally find her way on a best dressed list!

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF NICKI MINAJ’S MAKE-UNDER?
People are becoming so good at Photoshop these days that I feel like I need to expect them like I do with designer purses. I mean, yeah sometimes there are photos that are just obviously photoshopped that it’d be silly to think they’re real at all (i.e. sharks swimming in a flooded subway station). But then, there are those clever Photoshop jobs that make it sometimes difficult to distinguish it’s authenticity.
Whether or not this photo of Pete Wentz is real or not, just take a look at Bruno Mars in the background obviously fangirling over the Fall Out Boy bassist. He’s just like, “OHMYGERD. LOOK! A REAL FAMOUS PERSON WALKING DOWN THE STREET. NOOOO, REALLY?” while his friend doesn’t seem to care as much.
But will his fangirling skills ever top our queen Jennifer Lawrence’s own freakout over Jack Nicholson? I think not.
