Writing stories about your favourite boy band can be taken as a high form of flattery. But when the two members happen to date in them, things can get pretty awkward.
During an interview with Tumblr, Louis Tomlinson opened up about the difficulties he faces with his public life when asked if he ever feels pressure to live up to the “characters” his fans create through fan-fiction. A popular topic surrounding these stories often include him and fellow member Harry Styles, dubbing the pairing as “Larry Stylinson.”
“This is a subject that was funny at first but now is actually hard to deal with as I am in a relationship,” said Tomlinson.
“Me and Harry are best friends, people look into our every move. It is actually affecting the way me and Harry are in public: We want to joke around but there seems to be a different rumour every time we do anything. I act the same way with Harry as I do any of the other boys and my childhood friend Stan.”
While I’m not a big reader of fan fictions, I can imagine how weird it can get when it involves you and a close, platonic friend in a romantic relationship. Let’s just hope these fans don’t mix up their imaginations with reality!!
Man, these terrible songs just keep outdoing each other don’t they?
Singing about six packs of beer, abs of steel and doing p90x, this tune called “Six Pack” by Gifted and Twisted is now officially in the running for the worst song EVER.
I somehow think that this song is a joke. But as commenter MacDay000 says, “it isnt even good in satire.”
(WARNING: This song is not appropriate for work EVER)
Skrillex is joining in on the magic of Disney.
Announced on Thursday during Comic-Con, director Rich Moore announced that Skrillex will be writing music for his upcoming Disney animation film ‘Wreck-It-Ralph.’
Calling the DJ “one of my favourite performers.” Moore also gave attendees a 10-minute preview of the film, which is based on vintage video games and includes characters from Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mortal Kombat. John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch are just some of the actors providing voices for the animated characters.
While Skrillex hasn’t revealed what the songs will sound like for ‘Wreck-It-Ralph’, the dubstep artist will also be composing material for upcoming film Spring Breakers, which stars Selena Gomez, James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens.
But don’t expect to get your headbanging on in the theatre. At the time of the announcement, he tweeted, “it’s more or less traditional scoring…dont expect dance floor bangers!”
While Disney and Skrillex seem like odd pairing, I can’t help but be excited. It’ll be interesting to see what he comes up with.
Names: Madilyn Bailey and Jess Moskaluke
Song: Ellie Goulding’s “Lights”
Why we’re obsessed: We’re seriously mesmerized by Madilyn and Jess’s radiating cover of Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.” It’s incredible how a piano and slower tempo can transform the song entirely.
Although their voices have quite a different range, they harmonize perfectly. Jess’ raspy quality brings out a certain edge to the song and backs Madilyn’s soprano perfectly. The cover has received more than 81,000 views in less than a week.
Background: Both girls have been singing and uploading various covers of Top 40 hits and some of their own material to their YouTube pages, along with collaborations with other YouTube stars. Jess seems to be heading more into the country music scene, since her first official music video was released on CMT, while Madilyn’s first EP is focused on pop/rock music.

While it has been almost a decade since Destiny’s Child’s last full-length album, the group comprised of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams may be recording a new album soon!
According to Mathew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and former manager of Destiny’s Child, the group has previously unreleased material that will appear on two compilation releases via his Music World Entertainment label partnership with Sony.
“We still have our joint venture with Sony, and in November, we’re putting out two Destiny’s Child catalog records with new material,” Knowles told The Huffington Post when asked about his label’s upcoming plans.
And beyond the new songs, Knowles also talked about the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion tour!
“It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it. And I think the ladies are still working happily in their solo careers,” he explained.
“I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible.”
Considering this, the decision is obviously up to the trio who have all been busy focusing on their solo careers.
Beyonce, as we know, has become a massive hitmaker and recently just became a mother to a baby girl named Blue Ivy. Kelly, has also fared quite well hitting No. 1 with Lil’ Wayne on ‘Motivation’ and is set to do the same with her new single ‘Ice’. As for Michelle, the gospel singer has been successful on Broadway and is set to launch a clothing line in partnership with African brand Koshie O.
Guys, what do you think of this potentially exciting news? Will there ever be a Destiny’s Child reunion?
While No Doubt’s new album Push and Shove isn’t set to release until September 25, the band has released a music video teaser for “Settle Down”, the first single off the new record.
Featuring lots of bright lights, wild stage costumes and a scene of the band members giving each other hugs, the music video directed by Sophie Muller is set to debut on July 16.
So, who else is excited for this?
Not many people can say that they taught themselves how to play an instrument at the young age of six.
But meet Jaxon Smith. He’s six years old and also a self-taught drummer. Rocking out to Foo Fighters’ Pretender, this kid totally nails the drumming and even brings out a little drum roll!
But while this is truly impressive, I feel really untalented now. I guess it’s time to take out my guitar and teach myself how to play a song.

Name: Tyler Ward
Song: “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye
Why we’re obsessed: We’re so drawn to Tyler Ward’s authentic cover of Gotye’s addictive hit “Somebody That I Used to Know,” it’s insane how I can still hear his voice resonating. BUT that’s because I’ve been listening to this cover for hours. Literally!
I seriously love how different this acoustic cover is compared to the original, especially the way Tyler slows down the song and unexpectedly starts belting 2/3 through.
His stage presence is amazing and I totally felt like he was playing the perfect part of a heartbroken heartthrob, both physically and mentally. It’s a no-brainer his video has been viewed by over 180,000 people in only a few days!
Background: Starting off his YouTube channel in 2008, Tyler has been uploading covers from various genres and Top 40 hits, some of his own material and recordings with other YouTube stars. He’ll be on tour this fall in Europe, the USA and Canada to promote his first official album which will be coming out in two parts, the first in September and second in February!

In the middle of shooting her most recent video, Count’s Gabbi McPhee received a marriage proposal from a guy named Daryl. He was so taken by her that he proposed on the spot. Of course, she didn’t take him up on his spontaneous invitation but she decided to sing him an acoustic rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” instead.
The version is really emotional and you can see he’s visibly touched. It just goes to show how music can bring people together.

Uh…I’m feeling hot and bothered now.
Proving the world that he can sing just about anything and make it sound original, Ed Sheeran does it again with another amazing cover.
While Ed’s style is usually along the lines of acoustic, folk, alternative and pop, he is also a huge Hip-Hop and R&B fan. So while he was in New York City promoting his debut album ‘+’, he did an impromptu cover of Ginuwine’s sexy tune “Pony” while rehearsing for his sold-out gig.
If that was just an random performance, I am SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED.
And can I just mention how he just picks up his phone and gets up the second he was done?
Oh you know. It’s not like he just made everyone swoon over his voice.
Name: Pentatonix
Song: “Starships” by Nicki Minaj
Why we’re obsessed: We’re really liking Pentatonix’s acappella twist on Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” and besides, who needs all those instruments when you can just create the sounds by your mouth? Duh! I must be really obsessed with this track, because we did a “Starships” cover two weeks ago, yet they sound completely different.
This group slowed down the song at times, but totally made it just as awesome as the original! I love how all their voices compliment one another and rotate on who sings and who makes the awesome beats and rhythms. It can almost be compared to a number done by Glee, except this one is obvs way cooler. I can see why this wicked cover has received almost 150,000 hits in three days.
Background: Based in Los Angeles, this five-member band covers a wide range of music all the way from pop and R&B to even electronic music in an acappella style for the most part, and upload their songs to their YouTube channel. They won Season 3 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” and just released their first EP.
“Starships”

Since 1997, U.K. band Keane has been wooing Brits with gorgeously emotional lyrics and a distinct piano sound that set them apart from other rock bands. With more than 10 million albums sold worldwide they’ve definitely wooed fans across the pond and in other international markets. After a four-year break between their third album Perfect Symmetry and the release of their fourth album, Strangeland in 2012, Keane is back with a vengeance.
Here are five things you might not know about them:
They’ve been plotting to conquer North America: Although they have fans everywhere from Britain to China, (they were even invited by Burberry to play a concert in Beijing in 2011), Keane has yet to experience that kind of success in North America. “I think that’s been our plan for quite a few years really,” said Tim Rice-Oxley, co-founder, chief composer and pianist. ”It’s never going to be easy for a British band to conquer America, but we feel they’ve got a lot of love for us here and we’re just really happy with that.”
They want to give you the best night of your life: Keane’s favourite thing is performing live shows and with a score of new songs and more energy than a five-year-old after a Big Gulp. They won’t disappoint. “I am looking forward to being on stage with my friends and trying to get everyone going crazy and singing along. Keane fans are really dedicated and passionate. We like every single person in the room to be having the best night of their lives,” said Rice-Oxley.
They think making music is magical: While some other artists are busy pulling out gimmicks like Mary Poppins and her carpet bag, Keane likes to keep it real and focus on the music. “We think it’s sacred, to us it’s magical that music sort of appears out of thin air. The music is something that we feel so passionate about. We don’t want to do stuff that just feels like we are doing it for commercial purposes.”
Give a listen to their newest single, “Silenced By The Night.”
They aren’t trying to be cool and they don’t care what you think about that: Read more…
After accidentally bashing into a girl while walking down the street in his video “Vegas Girl,” Conor Maynard realizes it must have been fate that led to the accident. He thinks the chick is dayam hot and wants her phone number. She doesn’t give it to him because it’s unwise to casually hand out your phone number to cute British strangers who randomly ram into you. Instead she allows him to take a photo of her so he can remember her forever, which seems more creepy to me but whatevs…
A smitten Maynard resourcefully campaigns to find this mysterious girl who wears a three-quarter length “Vegas Girl” T-shirt by creating obscure street posters and tweeting her photo. When Vegas Girl figures out he’s on a local scavenger hunt to find her, she’s totally flattered and weirdly not creeped out AT ALL.
Most girls who run into a cute guy on the street might think “wow I hope I run into him at a cafe” but creating viral campaign is a little witch-hunty for me. Then again, it is Conor Maynard.
The track is from his debut album Contrast, which will be out on July 30. You’ll have to watch to find out if he eventually finds her but in the meantime, discuss: do you find this romantic or creepy?
Even if you’re not into Skrillex or dubstep (no judgement) you have to appreciate how different styles of music can be interpreted through unexpected genres, giving it a completely new sound. Recently we saw that with Skrillex’ “Bangarang” which was covered by an epic Dutch choir — even Skrillex loved it.
Check out how his track “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” can be flipped around in three different styles, making it hauntingly and strangely beautiful. [Source]

I’ve never thought much of Victoria Justice’s singing (as I only knew her from Zoey 101), but I have to admit the girl can sing!
Teaming up with Max and Kurt Schneider, together, they sing a mash-up of Bruno Mars’ hit singles in a video that looks like it was all shot in one take.
While I’m probably past my prime for Nickelodeon shows, I do have to say that their rendition is quite awesome.
Looks like Justin Bieber was feeling the love a bit too much last weekend in Toronto.
After winning an MMVA for UR Fave Artist, the teenage singer pump-faked his award to the crowd as he left and a fan quickly latched onto his trophy.
Bieber, who didn’t pull back the award, thought she was an official with MuchMusic. But once he realized his mistake, he let organizers of the show know. Thankfully enough, the fan was tracked down and returned the trophy.
But according to Bieber’s rep, Justin feels bad for getting the girl’s hopes up and wants to track her down so he can get her a replica of the award.
So far, the girl has not come forward.
If that’s the case, that would be super awesome for the fan! If I were her, I would instantly come forward.
Good on Justin to think about the fans.
A bit of an oldie, but you wouldn’t expect this all-girls prep school choir do a killer cover of Dr. Dre’s “Bitches Ain’t Shit.”
Looking dressed and just about ready to go play some tennis at the country club, it’s hard to believe how these girls look so calm and collected while busting out a pretty dope-ass cover.
Uh…what? One Direction’s Zayn Malik is being under fire by an American blogger for exploiting his Muslim heritage.
According to The Sun, Debbie Schlussel has warned parents to “keep their daughters away” from the British boy band because she claims that Malik had posted tweets for fans about Ramadan and Allah.
“The scary thing is that millions of girls in America and around the world are infatuated with the members of One Direction, including Zayn. He knows the power he has over these mindless girls and is using that influence to preach the Islamic faith. It’s dangerous.”
Continuing her rant, she also said, “With the boy band One Direction, it’s all about pimping Islam amid the deceptive visage of angelic, effeminate boys in a band. Yup, for them there is definitely One Direction: facing Mecca.”
To see this being said is incredibly upsetting. Living in 2012, we should be learning to have more open minds about different religions and races. Not living in a world of fear and hate.
But while Malik hasn’t responded to these comments yet, American Muslim campaigner Wajahat Ali has come to support Zayn, saying it is “empowering” to have a Muslim in a popular boy band.
He said that even though conservative Muslims may disagree with Zayn’s actions (tattoos, ear piercings, smoking), he can “really help open those minds.”
