In one the most confusing moments of the night, Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza hijacked Will Ferrell’s MTV Movie Awards speech as he accepted the “Comedic Genius Award” Sunday night.
Ferrell reacted to Plaza’s abrupt appearance pretty well. After wondering out loud “what’s happening?”, he asked the barefoot actress if she was “okay.” The actress eventually went back to her seat, spilling her drink along the way (our guess is that wasn’t Sprite in her cup). Being the professional that he is, he pretended that it a pre-planned gag and joked, “Just like we rehearsed it. Perfect, it was perfect. Not too long, not too short. Right on the money.”
According to the network, Plaza’s brief appearance wasn’t planned and she was asked to leave the show by MTV executives during the following commercial break.
“Well I went up there and I started talking and Aubrey Plaza ran up onstage,” Ferrell told MTV back stage. “And I think she wanted to tell me something important, but there was no message. It was just a lot of hot liquor breath. And, then, and a little bit of sweat. And then she ran away. But the ship sailed on.”
Plaza later tweeted:
thanks for the advice @kanyewest went better than planned! #mtvmovieawards #chrisbosh #thesecret

Sorry, Plaza. Kanye did it better.
Rebel Wilson totally killed it as the MTV Movie Awards host Sunday night. Who knew Wilson could own the all-leather look? I didn’t, but now I do.
Naturally, Wilson rounded up all her Pitch Perfect pals for a huge opening number — a Girl On Fire/Lose Yourself/Thrift Shop mashup. The performance was incredible, and I am so pleased they performed something brand new, and didn’t try to recreate a number from the show.
It’s also nice to see Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow all together again. Actually, it’s nice to Skylar Astin on your TV screen in general. It’s just a shame Anna Kendrick couldn’t make the performance, but let’s face it, the show was all about Rebel Wilson. The woman has taken the world by storm, and last nights performance just proved that.

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Ryan Gosling is the perfect son at his mom’s grad and One Direction fans hide in the garbage for FOUR hours.
HIT: Ryan Gosling goes to mom’s graduation, brings Eva Mendes
Ryan Gosling continues to show the world just how perfect he is, by showing up at Brock University to watch his mom cross the stage to scoop up another degree. Gosling also brought girlfriend Eva Mendes for the occasion. He made an appearance at McMaster University last year, yelling, “love you, mom! You’re the best mom, ever!” as his mom picked up her a bachelor’s degree. He loves his mom, he saves journalists, and he stops fights. Perfection.
MISS: One Direction fans hide in garbage bins for four hours

My favourite thing about reading One Direction news is reading all batshit crazy stunts fans pull just to catch a glimpse of their idols. Take for instance, hiding in garbage bins for four hours (they were caught, Zayn told the The Mirror). Or, kayaking across a lake. Or, ripping clothes off of Niall and Liam, and starting a riot in New York. Teenage girls everywhere: control thy hormones.

So much HAWTNESS at the MTV Movie Awards last night. But I appreciate the misses too because at least those celebs are taking a fashion risk. Otherwise it’s just plain boring, right?
Winners:
Peplum: Emma Stone & Charlize Theron
Both Emma Stone and Charlize Theron pulled off peplum looks. Theron wins by a thread because her striking red Lanvin dress complements her skin tone perfectly and is a little more fun for the MTV Movie Awards. But Stone won the trailblazer award so you know whatever look she touches is golden.
Vintage-inspired T’s: Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa wore a Joan Jett shirt (above) and sunglasses indoors because duh! I’m not sure if he’s wearing the top ironically but I NEED. It looks comfortable plus he’s paying respects to one of rock’s legends.
Sneakers: Kristen Stewart

K-Stew always steals my heart because she manages to be fashionable without sacrificing her comfort or individuality. Some old school designers might cringe (Sacrebleu!) at the sight of her sneakers but personally I think she manages to pull them off. Of course, she didn’t change into the sneakers until after the red carpet because her stylist would have died. Love the Guishem dress too.

The MTV Movie Awards were last night, so of course, all of Hollywood’s leading ladies were out to show off their outfits and what not. Some great, some not so great.
Overall, the red carpet was a little boring. Nobody really pushed the envelope or delivered a ‘wow factor.’ The best outfits were really only ‘cute,’ meanwhile the bad were disastrous. I get it, it’s not the oscars, but I think a little more effort could have been put into it. Photos courtesy of MTV.
Here’s some of my favourites. We have Kristen Stewart in Balmain, Elle Fanning in D&G, Hailee Steinfeld in Louis Vuitton (my favourite of the night!) and Emma Watson in Marchesa.
Sources tell TMZ that Lindsay Lohan isn’t going to get any heat from the L.A. County Probation Department.
Following reports that her SCRAM bracelet had a positive reading after the MTV Movie Awards, the source says that Lindsay took a urine test, and the results were clean.
Shawn Chapman Holley, Lindsay’s lawyer, says that the star went to the Probation Department the morning after the awards show and the test results were negative for alcohol, leaving Lohan in the clear.
A source at the Probation Department tells TMZ that a clean result is all they needed to see and no breach of Lohan’s bail conditions occurred during this situation.
In case you missed the 2009 MTV movie awards, this is what went down (literally): Sacha Baron Cohen — as his fashionista character Brüno — dropped from the rafters of the Gibson Amphitheatre through the help of wires, landing butt-naked on Eminem’s face.
The rapper appeared to be furious and stormed out of the award ceremony with his posse. After a few days, Eminem finally broke the silence on Wednesday (June 3) to RapRadar.com.
Ben Stiller will be honoured at next week’s MTV Movie Awards with the MTV Generation Award, joining the ranks of such past recipients as Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Mike Myers and Tom Cruise.
In a statement Friday, the network lauded the actor for pushing the boundaries throughout his career.
“From ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ to ‘Zoolander,’ Ben is a comedic chameleon, able to make the leap between drama and full-out comedy while maintaining his own unique brand of subversive humor,” Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music/Logo/Film Group, said.
Kings of Leon have joined the lineup for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, the network revealed Wednesday.
The band, which is currently in the middle of a North American arena tour, will perform “Use Somebody,” the most recent single from their album “Only By The Night.”
Only one other performer, Eminem, has been confirmed to perform at the show so far.
A fire tore through Universal Studios Sunday morning. The blaze broke out just before dawn on a back-lot soundstage, destroying a building housing the King Kong exhibit and threatened the studio’s film fault.
About 200 city and county firefighters joined studio firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Helicopters dropped water onto the burning lot as 100 foot flames overtook the structures. One firefighter is said to be injured, although his condition is yet to be determined.
Eliot Sekuler of Universal Studios said the hilltop theme park was not damaged and would still be open today, which is good news for the MTV Movie Awards. The ceremony is set to take place today, with Mike Myers hosting live from Universal’s Gibson Amphitheatre.
Celebrities expected at the awards are Sarah Jessica Parker, Adam Sandler, Lindsay Lohan, Liv Tyler, Anne Hathaway, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Hudson, James Franco, Paris Hilton, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Nikki Blonsky, Coldplay and the Pussycat Dolls.
It’s not exactly the Oscars (the trophies are made of golden popcorn, after all) but “Wedding Crashers” was the big winner at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards on Saturday night.
The blockbuster comedy took home three awards including Best Movie, Best On-Screen Team and Breakthrough Performance, according to E! Online. Owen Wilson and a M.I.A. Vince Vaughn took home the On-Screen Team Award, while Isla Fisher ? the movie’s sex-crazed nutcase ? won for Breakthrough Performance.
“For some people, playing a bipolar nymphomaniac may have been a challenge, but for me, I think I just played myself,” she said in her acceptance speech.
Coming in second for most awards was gay-cowboy-extravaganza “Brokeback Mountain.” Jake Gyllenhaal won the Best Performance Award, but also picked up the Best Kiss Award on behalf of himself and absent co-star Heath Ledger.
All awards were decided by fan votes, both online and through text messaging.
The show, hosted by Jessica Alba, features performances by Christina Aguilera, AFI, and Gnarls Barkley. It will air June 8 on MTV Canada, starting with the pre-show at 8:30 p.m. EST.
