Glee: The 3D Concert Movie didn’t get the numbers everyone was hoping for at the box office. It only took in $5.7 Million during its opening weekend, which may indicate the Glee franchise is fading.
The movie cost roughly $9 Million to produce, according to Rolling Stone. The movie is a documentary of the TV show’s cast going on their summer arena tour.
It’s not a mystery why this film flopped.
As if Reality TV isn’t enough!
Although the show was taken off the air last summer, it has been rumoured that The Hills‘ executive producer, Adam DiVello, had hopes for turning the reality show into a feature film following its last episode, but the cast wished to take a break from the show all together.
“We were kind of all just so fed up with each other that we all needed a little break,” The Hills‘ star Audrina Partridge told Ryan Seacrest in a recent interview on his radio show. But not all hope is lost! ”We’ve all had our break. Maybe we’ll all come back together and do a movie,” she continued.
Seeing as how the show was already scripted to begin with, a movie filled with never-ending drama and Kristin Cavallari, Lauren Conrad, Brody Jenner, the Pratt siblings, Lauren Bosworth, and Heidi Montag could actually have some potential as a source of entertainment. We can’t wait to see if our wish, and DiVello’s, actually comes true!
Would you want to see a movie version of The Hills?
Sorry Gleeks – Jane Lynch will not be in the Glee movie, although she is front and centre for the ads.
USA Today explains that Ryan Murphy has confirmed Jane’s scenes were left on the cutting room floor. However ,Murphy explained “We’re doing another version in a couple of weeks on DVD. Jane will be on that. We’ll do it that way.”
Ah well. At least Gleek fans will get to see Sue Sylvester in the DVD version.
Rumors have been circulating for years that Entourage would become a movie. Now it looks more certain than ever that it’s going to happen, considering the HBO series is just finishing its last season.
During a recent press tour, creator Mark Wahlberg and executive producer Doug Ellin more or less said it’s a sure thing. “If I had to finance it myself, I would do it,” Wahlberg said. Ellin was even more direct.
“We’re going to do a movie. We’re going to do it, the question is when and how quickly. Hopefully we’ll come down with an idea and make it happen,” said Ellin.
We are concerned about the plot of the movie. How do you change this ongoing series into a 2 hour story? Also will it involve the same cast? All these questions are yet to be answered. However even if this movie sucks, with the loyalty of the Entourage audience and the star power of Wahlberg, it will easily make some records at the box office.
Although Entourage is coming to an end on TV, the franchise will live on through the big screen. The cast was on Today and they said a movie is in the works, and the entire cast is on board.
As always, the boys were hilarious and charming, and they generally feel like a true Entourage. In regards to the show coming to an end, Kevin Connolly summed up the Entourage experience.
“I think it would be impossible to duplicate this experience, it’s just been so unique. You could go on and do ten shows, however many and win Academy Awards, but it will never be as special and unique as this –lightening in the bottle.”

Yet another one of our favorite athletes has admitted to using steroids – this time it’s Charlie Sheen.
Sheen, who played Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn in the Major League movies has admitted to Sports Illustrated that he used steroids for six to eight weeks in order to enhance his performance in the movie.
Sheen added, “You can print this, I don’t give a f–k. My fastball went from 79 [mph] to like 85.”
We are sorry but you can’t help but love this guy’s honesty!
So Justin Timberlake isn’t quitting music. He’s just unsure if he’s going to put out another album, let alone put songs together.
Right…
In an interview with Playboy Magazine, the popstar turned movie actor opened up about his life and career. Now that he’s scored big movie roles in films such as “The Social Network”, “Bad Teacher” and upcoming film “Friends with Benefits”, Timberlake says he doesn’t have the time or passion to commit full time to music.
“You go through these spurts when you miss it. In a perfect world I’d love to be able to involve myself in music and films as they come and go. But I’m always writing music, always thinking about ideas for songs,” he told the magazine.
However, that doesn’t mean there’s going to be a Justin Timberlake song to buy anytime soon.
“I don’t have a single song ready to go. People keep asking me when a new song or album is coming out, and I don’t know what to say,” he said.
“Music is not my focus right now. It may be someday. It could happen next month or next year, but right now it’s not where it’s at for me.”
Seeing that Timberlake got his start with “The Mickey Mouse Club” as well as boy band ‘N Sync, I can see how he has lost a bit of passion for music after doing it for so long.
But since I haven’t been much a fan of Timberlake’s acting…I really have missed his music. I hope he finds the passion and commitment to release a new album or single in the near future.
“Super 8″ had a big opening weekend, earning a total of $37 million dollars, reports CTV.
The action flick, directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, started with $1 million in sneak-peek screenings Thursday, then earning a total of $38 million domestically.
“The movie was never conceived to be a blockbuster, tent-pole film opening to $60 or $70 million,” said Don Harris, head of distribution for Paramount.
The film bumped the previous No. 1 movie, “X-Men: First Class,” to second-place, earning $25 million over the weekend. The “X-Men” prequel raised a total to $98.9 million domestically. “The Hangover Part II” still came in strong with $18.5 million, making it the year’s top-grossing domestic release at $216.6 million.
Here’s a list of the top 5 weekend openings:
1. “Super 8,” $37 million ($6.7 million international).
2. “X-Men: First Class,” $25 million.
3. “The Hangover Part II,” $18.5 million ($38.3 million international).
4. “Kung Fu Panda 2,” $16.6 million ($56.5 million international).
5. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” $10.8 million ($41.1 million international).
So I decided to check out “The Hangover II,’ the widely-anticipated sequel to the original box office smash.
As hilarious as the first movie was, I didn’t have high hopes for this film. Sequels are never as good as the originals, and in this case, I predicted that the film would be the exact same format and journey the ‘Wolfpack’ took in the first film. I was correct.
Let’s get the plot out of the way, though. This time around, right after the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug jet to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Stu’s plan for a subdued bachelor party, however, goes seriously awry when they wake up the next morning. In a hotel. In Bangkok.
Of course, out-of-this-world revelations are discovered throughout the movie, such as face tattoos and missing body parts. Funny things happen. People die. But the film is almost exactly the same as the first; they wake up, someone is missing, they try to find him, then funny things happen. The end.
The film tends to push the envelope even further this time around (I won’t give anything away, but it’s definitely up there in shock-factor.) I will say the movie definitely delivers on that front, providing even more shocking and crazy situations. But aside the shocking moment or two, the film really is the same bag of tricks at the first one.
I know, I know, what did I expect from the flick? An oscar-worthy plot line? But they could have at least come up with some new material. Hey, it if it worked the first time, I guess they’ll keep milking it while they can.
Of course, Zach Galifianakis’ character Alan saves the film with his off-beat humour and very, very stupid comments. He is worth the price of admission alone.
So if you’re looking for a good laugh or to be entertained, by all means see the film. It’s a great movie to see with your friends. But don’t expect to be blown away or to laugh harder than the first film, because you won’t.
In fact, you’ll laugh less, unless you’re the kind of person who can watch something 80,000 times and laugh at it every time. I give the movie 3 out of 5 stars, just because it made me laugh a few times and delivered what I expected it to.
‘Oh great, here’s another one of those bridal movies where the main character falls for some unrealistic knight-in-shining-armour, while her best friend gets married provoking hilarious wedding planning conflicts and mild laughter.’
Well you’re wrong, deeply wrong. This is no cliched fairytale wedding movie, no no no. It’s much more than that.
Let’s get the plot out of the way. The film follows Annie, played by the hilarious Kristen Wiig, who is picked as her best friend’s maid of honour, played by the equally funny Maya Rudolph. Completely broke and unprepared, Annie looks to bluff her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals of being a bridesmaid with an oddball group of other bridesmaids as well.
What saves this movie right off the bat from being a cliched comedy is the actors themselves. Each creating a unique, interesting character, all the bridesmaids and bride alike make the film interesting because of their line delivery or physical comedy. For example, a drunken Annie on the plane could be painfully unfunny, but Wiig’s dead-on physical comedy makes it that much more hysterical.
Another way the film saves itself from disaster is how it satires romantic comedy cliches instead of enforcing them. It touches on female competitiveness, dating, marriage and outlandish character types, but twists it so far that you know it’s really poking fun at itself. The bridal shower scene will literally have you peeing your pants – I did.
That’s what I loved about the film – it’s nature to never hold back. Think of it like the female version of ‘The Hangover,’ except not as risky and more subtle in its comedy. SNL veterans Rudolph and Wiig are perfect in achieving this, using their subtle comedy timing to make the film engaging throughout. But yes ladies, bring your guys, they will find it funny too – lots of farts and injuries to sustain them.
Now, I’m not saying the movie is perfect. Parts were dragged out a little too long, and cliches were still used (yes, sorry to break it to you, the main character does indeed find love in the end,) but they were all portrayed very realistically that it didn’t bother me.
So my final verdict is a 4 out of 5 stars. For what its worth, it’s a fun lighthearted comedy that shouldn’t be taken too seriously at all. With unique comedy and a packed, roaring audience, I’m pretty sure plenty will enjoy it as well.
Whitney Houston is set to return to the big screen for the first time in 15 years, reports CTV.
The 47-year-old singer-and-actress will be reuniting with her former ‘Waiting To Exhale’ castmates to create a sequel to the 1995 hit movie, in which she played unlucky-in-love television producer Savannah Jackson.
Actress Angela Bassett, who portrayed Bernadine Harris in the film, explained director Forest Whitaker is in the process of altering author-and-screenwriter Terry McMillan’s follow-up to the movie.
“It’s preliminary, but it’s going to happen, ‘Waiting to Exhale 2′. McMillan wrote ‘Getting to Happy’ and she’s written the screenplay … Loretta Devine, Lela Rochon, Whitney, Forest. Forest is working on the script now.”
In others news, a representative for the superstar singer confirmed today that Houston is undergoing treatment. Kristen Foster says Houston is in an out-patient program for drug and alcohol treatment. She says it is a voluntary measure and part of Houston’s “long-standing” recovery process.
Houston has battled problems with drug addiction for years. But in 2009, as she released a comeback album, she declared herself healthy and clean.
However, her 2010 tour overseas was trouble. Houston cancelled some dates due to illness and received negative reviews from fans who were disappointed in the quality of her voice and performance.
It’s unclear how long Houston will be in rehab or where she’s being treated. But before she takes on the stress of doing huge films, it’s good she clears her mind and focuses on herself first.
Action flick ‘Thor’ smashed the competition at the box office this weekend with a US$66 million opening. Pretty impressive!
The 3-D action Paramount picture, based on the Marvel comic, was by far the No. 1 movie, according to Sunday studio estimates. Australian actor Chris Hemsworth stars as the arrogant god of thunder who’s sent down to Earth as punishment.
The film also stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and Kat Dennings. Wow – I didn’t even know there was such a cast in this movie.
In second place was a holdover from last week, the car-racing sequel “Fast Five” from Universal Pictures. It made $32.5 million for a total of nearly $140 million in just 10 days. That’s still impressive for a sequel.
It seems the box-office has been in a slump lately, so it’s good to see movies dominating again. I personally haven’t seen these movies, but I’ll trust others when they say they are worth the money.
The famous ‘Home Alone’ house is for sale, E Online reports.
The house of adventures, where a young Macaulay Culkin fought off many burgling criminals, will definitely cost you though.
According to a press release, the Chicago-area home, described as “a piece of cinematic history and refined Georgian charm,” is going for $2.4 million. Yes, that’s a lot, but it’s actually way less than I would have thought. I mean, it’s cinematically famous!
The previous owner, John Abendshien, had great things to say about his soon-to-be former house.
“This property has been home to our family for more than 20 years, and has been a perfect location for us to raise our daughter,” he says. “There is such a strong sense of community in Winnetka and we will always have fond memories of the fun we’ve had here and the many people we’ve come to know and love.”
Built in the 1920′s, the residence has four bedrooms, including the “attic bedroom,” and two grand suites. A four-room master suite, which spans the entire west wing of the home, provides ample comfort and privacy. The house also features a large sunroom, spacious master bath and an elegant sitting room with built-in bookcases, a wood-burning fireplace with a carved marble mantle.
So if you’re into movie houses and have lots of dough to spend, go for it.
Looks like Lindsay Lohan’s hopes for reviving her career has run into more obstacles!!
When word came out about the possibility Lohan would play the rocker in a film in 2009, Nicks snapped.
“Over my dead body,” Nicks told the New York Times.
“She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we’ll talk.”
Now in 2011, Nicks still hasn’t changed her mind.
“She’s never going to,” the Fleetwood Mac singer recently told CNN, according to the Huffington Post. “That’s never going to happen unless she cleans up her life and becomes the great actress I feel she can be. Everybody thinks I hate her, and it’s not that at all.”
Nicks, who has been to rehab twice for cocaine and pill addiction, told CNN she feels the actress hasn’t changed much since she made those comments two years ago.
“I just want her to get it together,” she told CNN. “I was completely messed up for a long time and I got it together. She’s a very talented girl … if she could get it together, she could have a really big career and she could do great things.”
Hmm, hopefully Lindsay can take this harsh criticism to get herself back together!
Meanwhile, Lohan is planning a comeback with Fiore Films’ Gotti: Three Generations, playing Kim Gotti, wife of Gotti Jr.
The trailer for the final installment of the Harry Potter series has been released and all I’ve got to say is: EPIC.
The much-anticipated motion picture, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2″, is the second of two full-length parts. In the finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world goes out in full force in an all-out war.
Though we all know how it ends (or do we?), one can’t help but feel excited for the film!!
The film is out in theaters July 15.
The magic is about to get a whole lot more real.
Producers of the hit franchise ‘Harry Potter’ are planning on releasing ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1′ in 3D for a Blu-ray release. Funny, because just last year, the producers ditched plans to release it in 3D in theaters. Change of heart, I guess.
But it doesn’t stop there. The rest of the franchise may get the 3D treatment too. “We’re doing 3-D for the DVD of ’7, Part 1,’ and there’s been no discussion of anything else yet,” producer David Heyman told MTV News recently. “But I suspect the studio is going to be reluctant to let it die, and if there’s an opportunity to maybe enrich … ”
Back in March 2010, Heyman also said “I’m sure it’s just a matter of time” regarding the 3D conversion of the entire series. Looks like he’s a man of his word.
For now, though, the filmmakers are racing to finish “Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ before the July release and working on the conversion of the first part for the Blu-ray.
“We’re very pleased with the way ‘Part 1′ is going – the 3-D for the Blu-ray,” producer David Barron said. “It’s really exciting, really involved.”
“I was surprised at how wonderful it is. It is different in some ways [than the theatrical release], but it’s enriching,” said Heyman. “The quality is quite different… It’s much easier, in a way, to do 3-D for a smaller screen than it is for a bigger screen.”
And there you have it. I personally don’t get the whole 3D trend, it gives me a headache, but if others love it then power to them.
Wes Craven recently spoke to MTV and suggested that Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette will all star in another ‘Scream’ movie.
The horror movie director said at least two more films are planned for the franchise following the recent release of ‘Scream 4,’ which was a huge hit among fans and critics alike, and that the “core characters” played by Campbell, Cox and Arquette will most likely appear in future installments.
“I imagine the core characters will continue. I suspect they’ll be with us until the end, because they just are the heart and soul of the movie and especially since we tend to kill off most of the other people,” the horror filmmaker said. And we love him for it. Who doesn’t love a good death?
“They’ll be with us. There will be some continuation of the drama of Sidney Prescott’s family and the ghosts that haunt it.”
I’m so happy by this news. Not only am I happy that they’ve successfully rebooted this franchise, but I am happy that they are staying true to the originals while adding fun, modern twists. I loved ‘Scream 4,’ so I can only imagine the amazingness that will come in future sequels. Fun, screams, blood, and more screams – what more can one ask for?
After months of speculation of who Joseph-Gordon Levitt will play in the new Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises”, fans can finally release a sigh of relief as the name of his role has been released.
In March, it was reported that Gordon-Levitt would play Albert Marcone, the son of major Gotham crime boss Alberto Falcone, played by Tom Wilkinson in the first of Christopher Nolan’s films, “Batman Begins.”
According to to a Warner Bros. press release, the actor will instead play John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Comissioner Gordon.”
On the other hand, Marion Cotillard, who was long assumed to be part of the cast, was also made official on Tuesday. She will play Miranda Tate, who according to Warner Bros. is a “Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.”
Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard will join three-time Batman Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, who will play Selena Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy, who will serve as Bale’s nemesis.
This will be the final Batman film Nolan will direct. After the film, Warner Bros. will reboot the series, in which Nolan will produce.
With this star-studded cast, there will be high expectations for this film!!
But with rebooting of the series? That, I am not too sure about.
How many Batman films do they need??
It’s no Linda Lovelace, but LiLo should be taking what she can get!
Lindsay Lohan has been offered the role of a lifetime – playing a Charles Manson victim in the film “Eyes of a Dreamer.”
Lohan, who would be playing Sharon Tate if the deal goes through, would be starring in the Brad Wyman project along with Tyler Shields, the celebrity photog who snapped her promo pix for Inferno before she was fired.
Hmm, is that a connection I see? Now we know how Lindsay got the offer!
Wyman produced mega-successful ‘Monster’ with Charlize Theron back in the day, so this project actually has some potential.
We think you should take it, Lindsay! It’s time you started making movies again.
