Any Mad Men fan would tell you that good advertising stirs the emotion. But South Korean car company Hyundai hit the wrong note when it decided to give this suicide-themed commercial the green light.
The ad (intended for its European market) depicts a man trying to commit suicide by attempting to fill his car with exhaust fumes. However, his attempts were thwarted because of Hyundai’s clean emission technology.
While they got the viral reaction they were looking for, the car company was also met with negative reviews. One copywriter, Holly Brockwell, even penned an open letter to the car company, which included the following passage:
Turns out January was a big month for news bloopers. Now, instead of making a blunder on live TV and waiting for the fuss to die down, those horrendous mistakes will live on forever courtesy of YouTube. Then if you’re so lucky, you’ll find an entire monthly compilation floating around online. NewsBeFunny included everything from that reporter getting crushed by a footballer to that Irish newscaster who applied makeup on live TV.
Perez Hilton is reporting that Whoopi Goldberg has admitted to cheating while she was married.
The actor, who has been married three times, said, “I did it five or six times… Yes, I screwed around while I was married, yeah. I made mistakes too. It happens sometimes. Maybe [Jesse James] was trying to find something different too. I’m not excusing what I’m doing as, ‘Hey, maybe there’s something else to look at here’ as opposed to just saying, ‘Hey, he’s a bonehead.’”
