Mika Releasing Upcoming Album’s First Single On MySpace For 24 Hours

Already drawing comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Elton John, British sensation Mika is set to unveil the first single from his new album We Are Golden on MySpace on Tuesday for 24 hours only- starting at 9:00 am EST.

The record is set to hit stores on September 22, and boasts Greg Greg Wells (Katy Perry, P!nk), and artists Imogen Heap and Final Fantasy’s Owen Pallett, among others.

The 25-year-old’s global following can be attributed to his applauded 2007 debut album Life In Cartoon Motion- which spawned mega pop anthems such as Grace Kelly, Love Today and Relax. The record sold over five million copies worldwide, and also gained a slew of awards and nominations including Grammys, Brit Awards, World Music Awards, and the UK’s most prestigious songwriting honor, the Ivor Novello Award.

We Are Golden has been described as Mika dealing with his adolescent teenage years and basically part two of his first album, and a video for the soaring new single is currently in pre-production, and will be helmed by acclaimed Swedish director Jonas Akerlund.

Mika Implies Grace Kelly’s Subject Is Cowell

Pop sensation MIKA has fuelled speculation his debut single GRACE KELLY was written about music mogul SIMON COWELL.

Mika struggled to get a record deal and was rejected until he was signed in a collaboration deal between Universal Motown and Island. He recently revealed he was snubbed by Cowell, before landing a record deal.

Since then his career has taken off, with a UK number one debut single and debut album LIFE IN CARTOON MOTION.

Since Grace Kelly topped the charts, it has been rumoured the song is a veiled attack on Cowell, with the lyrics “Why don’t you like me, why don’t you like me without making me try?”

Mika refused to confirm the rumours, but hints, “He said my songs weren’t very good and I wasn’t a songwriter.”

A Universal source adds, “No one knows for sure who the track is about; however there has been a rumour for a while it is Simon Cowell.”

Cowell, on being questioned about the meeting with Mika, says, “Do you know what, I don’t even remember meeting him.”

SCISSOR SISTERS have criticized British pop sensation MIKA for “stealing their sound.”

The GRACE KELLY hitmaker last Monday branded the group’s music “mediocre” – but the Scissor Sister’s bassist BABYDADDY admits he can’t understand the star’s remarks, as the two make comparable tunes.

He says, “I haven’t spent much time listening to Mika as I see there’s a similarity.

“The last thing I want to hear is something that sounds a whole lot like us.”

Mika Threatened By Fake Prince

British pop star MIKA was nearly forced to scrap his hit single GRACE KELLY after he was threatened by an imposter pretending to be the late actress’ son PRINCE ALBERT OF MONACO.

The singer, who currently tops the UK singles chart with the track, was shocked to receive the warning on February 1, because on the same day Kelly’s daughter – and Albert’s sister – PRINCESS STEPHANIE OF MONACO gave the song her seal of approval.

Mika says, “I received a letter from the prince saying if I didn’t change the title I wouldn’t be let in the Principality. I called my lawyer to say, ‘This is serious.’”

But the 23-year-old had nothing to worry about because it all turned out to be a joke.

He adds, “The letter was from a fake and someone had my address. It was a quite amazing spoof. But I believed it.”

Mika Wins Praise From Grace Kelly’s Daughter

British pop sensation MIKA’s new song GRACE KELLY has won the seal of approval from his regal subject’s daughter PRINCESS STEPHANIE OF MONACO.

The singer currently tops the UK singles chart with the track, after choosing Kelly as a muse because, “Grace Kelly was a rebel.”

And Kelly’s youngest daughter approves.

Stephanie gushes, “He is very talented and handsome and I’m sure my mother would have liked the song very much.”

Mika Wrote Hit Song After Fall Out With Bosses

British pop sensation MIKA wrote distinctive hit single GRACE KELLY after a record company claimed he wasn’t commercial enough.

Music bosses urged the eccentric singer to copy the urban pop style of British star CRAIG DAVID instead, but Mika knew this would be a “complete disaster,” so he went away and wrote current British number one Grace Kelly instead.

He explains, “I wrote Grace Kelly as a little sticky to the music industry a couple of years back. I was working with a big music company in London that wanted to mould me into what they felt would turn me into a commercial success, which was Craig David at the time.

“They told me I needed to make a record more like what everyone expected pop records to be, and be like Craig David. I knew that would lead to complete disaster. So I came back home and I wrote Grace Kelly that night. From that point on, I made a decision to write in the way I wanted to and not how someone else told me to.”

Acerbic AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL has slammed new UK pop sensation MIKA – after he told the hotly-tipped star “not to bother” with a career
in music.

The singer, born MIKA PENNIMAN, has been hailed as the new FREDDIE MERCURY and is expected to top the British singles chart this week with debut single, GRACE KELLY.

The 23-year-old recalls, “I managed to get a demo to him before he became a household name. He hadn’t done any of the POP IDOL stuff.

“When I walked in and played my song, he said, ‘You’ve got a good voice but your songwriting… you may as well not bother.’”

Despite the knockback, Mika did not give up on his pop dreams, and instead has used the put-down to spur him on.

He says, “Honesty is a good policy. That’s how you’ve got to survive. Rub your hands together and start again.”

Mika Claims Top Spot On UK Chart

British pop newcomer MIKA has knocked X FACTOR winner LEONA LEWIS off the top of the UK singles chart after four weeks at number one.

Mika’s GRACE KELLY rises two places from number three on download sales alone, while Lewis’ A MOMENT LIKE THIS falls five places to number six.

JUST JACK climb two places to number two with STARZ IN THEIR EYES while British rockers THE VIEW claim their first top ten hit with SAME JEANS at number three.

American teen star JOJO and ERIC PRYDZ round out the top five with TOO LITTLE TOO LATE and PROPER EDUCATION respectively.

British singer AMY WINEHOUSE is at number one on the album chart, after her second LP BACK TO BLACK climbed nine places from number ten.

JAMES MORRISON is a non-mover at number two with UNDISCOVERED. THE FRATELLIS’ COSTELLO MUSIC is at number three while SNOW PATROL and RAZORLIGHT round out the top five.
