Coldplay, A-Ha, Mew Start New Band
Collaborations are the new black, apparently.
The invention of the “supergroup” has caused quite a stir lately. With such bands as Them Crooked Vultures (featuring members from Nirvana/Foo Fighters and Led Zeppelin), Monsters of Folk (featuring members from She&Him, My Morning Jacket, and Bright Eyes), and Chickenfoot (featuring members from Van Halen and the Red Hot Chili Peppers), it’s no surprise that another clan of musicians is jumping on the collabo-bandwagon.
And as one band breaks up, another blossoms. While A-Ha is soon to be no more, some of its team is conintuing with music.
A-Ha’s Magne Furuholmen and A-Ha producer Martin Terefe have created a new band with Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman and Mew singer Jonas Bjerre, according to CHARTattack. The new group is called Apparatjik.
The project will release their debut album on Monday, Nov. 30. They reportedly e-mailed a song called “Electric Eye” to 30 people this week. The song will be available for download through Apparatjik’s website, apparatjik.com, the day the album is released.
