Mel C is expecting her first child, making her the last of the Spice Girls to become a mom.
The singer, whose full name is Melanie Chisholm, revealed she was pregnant on her website Friday.
The father is Thomas Starr, her boyfriend of six years.
“As I’m sure you’ll understand, we needed time to wait for results and tell our families,” Chishom, 34, wrote.
“Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation!),” she added, referring to rumours that had been circulating in British tabloids.
Chisholm said she will be “taking it easy” but is also looking forward to begin writing her fifth album.
The Spice Girls recently reunited for a world tour, which ended in Toronto in February. The other four members of the British pop group have a combined total of 7 children.
Sporty Spice, also known as Mel C., will due a solo cross-country tour next month.
Sun Media reports the former Spice Girl, just off of her Spice Girl reunion tour will hit the road on her own. She is set to play May 4 in Montreal, May 5 in Ottawa, May 8 in Toronto, May 9 in London, May 11 in Winnipeg, May 12 in Saskatoon, May 14 in Edmonton, May 15 in Calgary and May 17 in Vancouver.
All the venues for the tour will be club – or club-like – smaller than the amphitheatres and arenas the Spice Girls played at.
“(Clubs are) my favourite size of venue. I’ve had the opportunity to play every size of venue – from a tiny little 50-people-in-a-room club, to festivals with 250,000 people in a city square. It’s all performing, and it’s all good fun,” she told Sun Media.
The tour is due to the release of her third solo album, This Time.
MELANIE CHISHOLM has hit out at claims she is stalling a SPICE GIRLS reunion, insisting she isn’t the only WANNABE hitmaker against a comeback.
The group’s creator and former manager, AMERICAN IDOL boss SIMON FULLER, recently accused Sporty Spice of blocking the reunion, claiming, “Mel C thinks her solo career is bigger than the band, which is just not the case.”
But Chisholm insists, “There is no reunion. I’m painted as the villain who doesn’t want us to reunite. But I’m not the only one. We have been much criticized so why face it all again?
“Life has moved on for all of us and we are looking to the future.”
The 32-year-old claims she is too busy dreaming of motherhood, adding, “I’m really excited about the next phase in my life. I daydream about living in Wales and taking the kids to school. I don’t want to leave it too late to have children.”

Former SPICE GIRL MELANIE CHISHOLM turned down the chance to reunite with the girl group because she is still haunted by negative memories of her time with the WANNABE hitmakers.
The 32-year-old singer claims she suffered an eating disorder while in the band, and is still disturbed by the impact her skinny image had on young fans.
She says, “When I was in the Spice Girls I wasn’t eating, I was exercising way too much, my periods had stopped and my bone density was dangerously low. And the worst thing about it is that I was a role model to millions of young girls.”
Sporty Spice Chisholm last week hit out at claims she is the only Spice Girl refusing to reunite, insisting other former bandmembers are also against a comeback.
