There’s a fine line between sampling a song and straight ripping off someone else’s artistic integrity. Imitation is recognized as the highest form of flattery – but at what point does it go too far?

Most recently, Madonna finally spoke out about her insane influence of Lady Gaga, with focus on ‘Born This Way‘ and it’s similarity with Madge’s 1989 hit ‘Express Yourself’. And in the spirit of that buzz – we’re delighted to bring you a little sampling, thirteen songs that famously ripped off others (and were pretty successful in their own right). Some of which dealt with court settlements and others were able to slip through the legal cracks. For those arguing that the likes of Hammer and Vanilla Ice had the right to sample – both were busted by the predecessors for their use. Ice even argued in an episode of VH1′s ‘Behind the Music’ that it was completely original and the sampling accusations were bogus.

Lady Sovereign, MC Hammer Rumored to Appear on Next Celeb Big Brother

Lady Sovereign is reportedly going to appear on the next series of Celebrity Big Brother, according to NME.com.

The UK rapper, whose real name is Louise Harman, would be following in the footsteps of her former collaborator Preston, who has previously appeared on the show. According to the online rumours, Lady Sovereign will enter the house when the series returns on Dec. 31.

Along with her own albums, Lady Sovereign appeared on The Ordinary Boys’ song “Nine2Five,” which followed frontman Preston’s time spent on the same show.

Other names rumored to be joining the Celebrity Big Brother cast include MC Hammer, Pamela Anderson, and former Hearsay singer turned actress Kym Marsh. Boy George was set to take part in house but a judge ruled that his involvement in the show would violate the terms of his probation.

A full list of housemates will be confirmed officially when the show starts.

MC Hammer, Family To Star In Reality Series

Ozzy did it. So did Gene Simmons. Now, MC Hammer is also taking the reality route.

The hit-making ’90s rapper is the latest performer to star in his own reality series, which will begin shooting next week and is slated to premiere later this year on A&E.

“Hammertime” will follow Hammer, his wife and five children over the course of 11 half-hour episodes.

The performer, who shot to success in the early ’90s and sold millions of records before running into financial troubles, “now lives a more economically balanced life” as a “New Age dad” in Oakland, Calif., according to the show’s press materials.

“Here’s a dad with five kids, married to the same woman for more than 23 years, living in the same place where he grew up and going to church every Sunday,” executive producer J.D. Roth told The Hollywood Reporter.

“He’s had his ups and downs, and it’s what makes him such a character you root for.”

Roth added that he told Hammer he wanted to focus on his future rather than his past.

“I really wanted to tell the future of MC Hammer,” Roth said. “What kind of dad is he?”

Hammer recently returned to the spotlight when he appeared in a Cash4Gold Super Bowl ad alongside Ed McMahon earlier this month.

Former rap star MC HAMMER is planning a musical comeback in a bid to raise money for church groups.

The MC-turned-minister – real name Stanley Kirk Burrel – achieved huge success with hit album Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em’ in 1990 and is planning a career revival with the release of a new album late this year (07).

He says, “I plan to give all the proceeds to church groups.” (CJM/WNSST/LJ)
