Matthew McConaughey Reprises ‘Dazed & Confused’ In New Music Video

In Butch Walker and the Black Widows latest music video, People’s Sexiest Man Alive reprises the role that put him on the map – Wooderson from Dazed & Confused.

It has been almost two decades and even though McConaughey has aged, his classic stoner character stays the same age. This collaboration on Butch Walker’s video from his album ‘The Spade’ came out of a health dose of nostalgia.

“When it comes to classic characters, McConaughey’s ‘Wooderson’ took the cake and the high school girls with him,” Walker told Entertainment Weekly.

McConaughey added, “If you loved Dazed and you loved Wooderson, you’ll see this and you’ll probably get the tickle box pretty quick.”

Wooderson stumbles into a club with a handful of LMFAO and Jersey Shore doppelgangers and sets a stark contrast of how pathetic popular culture has changed. Also – keep your eyes peeled for a classy Ron Jeremy cameo.

Looks like there will be more Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in upcoming episodes of the award-winning sitcom Modern Family.

According to Deadline, Sofia Vergara who was announced to be part of the cast of the Lee Daniels’ directed drama The Paperboy, has just dropped out of the film.

When the start date of the movie got pushed back a week, the schedule conflicted with her day job on Modern Family, whose third season will shooting by then.

“Modern Family is her first priority, so once she was made aware of the change in schedule, she had no choice but to pull,” said an insider in her camp.

Vergara, will however be a part of The Three Stooges, a film adaptation of the television series directed by the Farrelly brothers.

The Paperboy, which stars Matthew McConaughey, Tobey Maguire and Zac Efron, is based on the Pete Dexter novel about a newspaper reporter who returns home to FLorida to investigate the possible unlawful imprisonment of a death-row inmate.

So what do you think of Vergara’s dropping out?

Personally, I don’t mind at all because her character on Modern Family is my favourite. I’m sure other films will be coming her way in the future!

Orlando Bloom has been voted ‘Most Stylish Celebrity Dad,’ reports CTV.

The actor is a new dad to his five-month-old son Flynn, with supermodel wife Miranda Kerr.

In a poll conducted by MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, Bloom beat out celebrities such as soccer star David Beckham and film hunk Matthew McConaughey for the top spot.

“With Father’s Day coming in the UK we wanted to put celebrity dads under the fashion spotlight. As a new dad, it was interesting to see Orlando Bloom fly straight into the charts and clinch the top spot as the ‘most stylish celebrity dad,’” says Andy Barr, the Marketing Director of MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk.

“The public evidently likes his eclectic style; and even though he beat David Beckham to the top spot, Beckham still managed to stay very near the top of the style charts with his ‘casual’ style.”

Bloom won by a sweeping 71 per cent, while Beckham was close by with 66 per cent.

The actor says fatherhood has changed his life, but apparently it hasn’t affected his sense of style.

“It’s awesome, I love it. I hate that word but I love being a father; it’s changed everything in so many ways… Miranda is an amazing mother.”

Movie Review Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past

Is there any formula more credible than A Christmas Carol? Done correctly, the story plays on two primal aspects of human nature: that when it comes to remembering how we hurt others, our memories are fuzzy; and that we hate feeling guilt. Forced to confront every nasty thing committed against someone else over the course of three hours, even the most unrepetant jerk would undergo some kind of change (unless they’re a clinical psychopath – which would make for an entertaining, though less marketable, movie).

And yet it results in trash like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, a pandering, obvious slice of counterprogramming shuffled into theatres against the likely blockbuster Wolverine, starring an especially off-putting Matthew McConaughey.

This is a terrible movie. You don’t need me to tell you that. Just watch the trailer.

As you’ve no doubt seen, McConaughey plays a successful photographer with a reputation for bedding women and dumping them as soon as they fall in love with him. After breaking up with three “girlfriends” in front of another woman, he beds the other woman. He’s had a mentor – his late Uncle Wayne (Michael Douglas) taught him everything he knows, including that whomever has the least invested in a relationship holds the power.

Of course these kinds of men exist. Worse, their techniques often work. Women in McConaughey’s position are often called sluts. Men in his position are often called players – and indeed he’s glorified as such. The film tries to have it both ways – eventually McConaughey realizes he’s pathetic, and a bridesmaid jokingly refers to him as a man-whore – but it comes across as shameless hypocrisy. After all, it’s much easier to condemn a habit once you’ve come out the other side.

The film’s blatant misogyny wouldn’t hurt so much if its featured example of monogamous bliss – McConaughey’s brother, played by Breckin Meyer, and his shrewish bride, played by Lacey Chabert – wasn’t so clearly headed in the wrong direction. Jennifer Garner plays McConaughey’s love interest, a woman too smart to put up with him for two minutes, let alone twenty years.

Eventually, of course, McConaughey’s visited by ghosts. Poorly conceived ghosts. In A Christmas Carol, Jacob Marley was at least seen lugging around chains; he wanted to keep Scrooge from meeting the same fate. Here, Uncle Wayne appears relatively normal. Still an asshole, but hey, if sex was more important than having friends or building a family.

Perhaps if Douglas had simply warned McConaughey the ghosts were coming – and even better, warned him not to listen to them – his prescence here would have been credible, but he tells McConaughey to stop emulating him, then continues hitting on the other (female) ghosts until the end of the film. Not to mention he and the other ghosts randomly touch and pass through solid objects without any consistency.

The worst part about Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, however, is that it makes McConaughey’s transformation almost believable. Every minute of the film is immaculately telegraphed, and better paced than many romantic comedies I’ve seen. It’s only once you pause to think about it for any length of time that its wrongheadedness becomes clear.

Men are not automatically from Mars and women not automatically from Venus. There are far more differences among the sexes than between them, and anyone who’s progressed beyond a high school relationship, on some level, knows this.

It’s a shame nobody at the studios seems to.

Matthew McConaughey, who had a breakout role as a lawyer in 1996′s “A Time to Kill,” is returning to the courtroom for his latest project.

Variety reports that the actor is attached to star in “The Lincoln Lawyer,” a legal thriller based on the 2005 Michael Connelly best-seller.

The Lakeshore Entertainment movie will revolve around a low-level criminal defense attorney named Mickey Haller who is hired by a Beverly Hills playboy, his first high-paying client in years. What appears to be a slam-dunk case takes a turn for the dangerous when someone close to Haller is murdered and the attorney’s own life is threatened.

McConaughey’s other movie credits include “Failure to Launch,” “Fool’s Gold” and, most recently, a supporting role in the comedy “Tropic Thunder.”

He next stars opposite Jennifer Garner in “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.” Directed by “Mean Girls” helmer Mark Waters, the romantic comedy opens in theatres May 1.

Matthew McConaughey is a daddy, reports People Magazine.

McConaughey and his girlfriend of two years, Camila Alves, welcomed their son Monday night, his rep Alan Nierob confirmed to the entertainment magazine.

“They’re so happy!” said a source close to the couple.

Back in January, McConaughey announced on his website that he and Alves were expecting. “Camila and I made a baby together…,” he wrote at the time. “We are stoked and wowed.”

As for Alves—a model and handbag designer— the new mom plans on taking time off since birth of the baby.

“More important than anything is that I have a peaceful life and a peaceful home,” she said.

Paps Snapping Photos of McConaughey Attacked By Surfers

Paparazzi taking photos of Matthew McConaughey were attacked by a group of surfers, reports E! News.

According to one shutterbug, the photographers were approached by the surfers who demanded that everyone stop filming and taking pictures. However, when that did not happen, the argument escalated and became physical.

“[The surfers] formed a semicircle in front of his camera and they said [McConaughey] didn’t want him to film,” said spokesman Steve Whitmore for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. “They got into an argument, and [the photographer] indicated that he received injuries…[The surfers] took the video camera and threw it in the water.”

While detectives are investigating the incident, according to E! News, a paparazzo suffered a broken nose.

McConaughey To Be Next Magnum?

Matthew McConaughey has a big mustache to fill.

The actor has been offered the part of Magnum P.I. for a film version of the television hit show, the part that made Tom Selleck a household names, ew.com reports.

The site has no confirmation from the actor on the issue, but will only say they have confirmed McConaughey is reading the script and will decide whether he will accept soon.

Magnum P.I. centres around Thomas Magnum, a private detective who was a Navy Seal. It aired on television in the 1980s.

Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, stars of the upcoming movie “Fool’s Gold,” will drop by MuchMusic headquarters in downtown Toronto for a special Live@Much on Feb. 6.

The Q&A session starts at 6 p.m. ET and will be hosted by VJ Leah Miller.

The two actors will answer questions via audience, email, phone and text message.

Fans can watch MOD on Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. ET to win wristbands to the event.

Fool’s Gold is scheduled to hit theatres Feb. 8. McConaughey and Hudson play a married couple who search for lost treasure and rekindle their romance in the process.

Matthew McConaughey is going to be a father, and he’s “stoked” about it!

McConaughey made the big announcement yesterday on his web site.

“Got some blessed news… a celebration of life and bounty… a newborn conceived… yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together,” McConaughey wrote. “its [sic] 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far… we are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and father, and sheparding [sic] him or her through this life… from moms and dads, to family, to community, it takes the best will and support from everyone to raise the healthiest children we have in society… wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution… thanks for bein fans of me and my work and now this new and miraculous chapter in my life, as me and Camila and our child do our best to just keep livin.?”

This is the first child for McConaughey.

Malibu Burns, Celebs Evacuate

Just weeks after Southern California was set ablaze by uncontrollable and disastrous wildfires, Malibu is now suffering the same fate.

Hot, dry winds are the reported cause of fires that are sweeping through the celeb-packed destination of Malibu’s canyons.

Thousands of people have already fled their homes in the area as fires engulfed over 1,000 hectares destroying numerous homes, CBC reports.

The area is home to many multimillion-dollar estates that are behind gates. CBC reports that Reesa Whettell, a local resident, had to warn her famous neighbours about the oncoming flames.

“Went to Minnie Driver’s, went to Matthew McConaughey and told them they had to leave,” she told CBC News.

McConaughey and his girlfriend, model Camila Alves, were spotted grocery shopping at a Bristol Farms supermarket in Beverly Hills Saturday. When asked what brought him so far from his 10 million-dollar Malibu home to grab groceries, the actor replied “The fires, man, the fires,” JustJared.com reports.

More than 1,700 firefighters battled the Santa Ana winds, which were reportedly blasting at around 100 kilometres an hour.

The winds supporting the spread of the Malibu blaze started to die down later in the day.

McConaughey’s Car Brings In Over $61,000 for Hurricane Relief

Matthew McConaughey’s 1971 Corvette Stingray convertible, which was auctioned off on eBay, has been sold for over $61,000, the Associated Press reports.

The car received 72 bids, and the name of the high bidder was not released by eBay.

The auction was part of an auction for hurricane relief to help citizens who were affected by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita last year.

McConaughey has said he will donate the money raised from the sale of his car to Oprah’s Angel Network for Katrina and Rita Relief.

Matthew McConaughey has reached the pinnacle of his career, joining the likes of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Sean Connery. The star of Sahara, the Wedding Planner, and the fantasies of women everywhere, McConaughey has been named People magazine?s (drumroll, please) Sexiest Man Alive.

People made the official announcement this morning on the Today show and the sexy blond Texan will grace the cover of the November 28 issue of the magazine, to hit newsstands Friday. McConaughey is People?s 20th sexiest man alive, after the tradition first started in 1985 with Mel Gibson.

Joining McConaughey as the magazine?s sexiest men of 2005 are Heath Ledger, Matt Damon, and Viggo Mortensen, among others. Of the honour, McConaughey told People, “I like the ‘Alive’ part. Now I’ve made it. Wait until you see the roles I could take after this. You’re going to see my gut hanging over, plus 22 [lbs]. It’ll be a whole new kind of sexy!”
