‘Major League Eating: The Game’ Slated for July 14 Release
Today, video game publisher Mastiff announced it will be releasing the first video game based on the world of competitive eating. The game, titled “Major League Eating: The Game”, will launch exclusively on WiiWare on July 14th, 2008. The game will feature the world’s best eaters competing across a variety of foods and venues.
The game is built in very much the same way as a traditional fighting game, with characters executing offensive attacks and defensive counter moves to defeat rivals. Major League Eating: The Game requires players to master a variety of weapons including bites, burps, belches, mustard gas and jalapeño flames while eating food at a world-class pace.
The game uses the Wii remote to simulate numerous eating techniques, such as ‘the cram’, ‘the toss’ and ‘the typewriter’. Burp-offs and Hot Potato challenges during the game vary the competition between players. The game is designed for one or two players and offers an option for online play.
“Major League Eating: The Game” also features eleven of the best-known professional eaters in the world including Takeru Kobayashi, the Japanese eating phenomenon, and American Joey Chestnut, current champion of the world, along with eaters such as Tim ‘Eater X’ Janus, Patrick ‘Deep Dish’ Bertoletti, Crazy Legs Conti, Sonya ‘The Black Widow’ Thomas, and ‘The Lovely’ Juliet Lee.
