Wednesday was a historic day in New Zealand as the government finally passed legislation legalizing gay marriage.
It wasn’t just the crowd gathered outside, however, who were ecstatic to hear the news. In what is probably one of the most heartwarming videos I have ever seen, the entire House of Representatives broke out singing the love song “Pokarekare Ana” in Maori, a language spoken by indigenous tribes in the country.
I’m not one to watch televised coverage of parliamentary debates (I prefer Keeping Up With the Kardashians), but this is a must see. Just try to make it to the end of this video without cracking a smile.
If only the rest of the world – I’m looking at you, USA – would follow New Zealand’s lead, we could all be singing too!
We haven’t seen much of the second Spears lately (I didn’t even know she was dating anyone), but I am happy to report that she is back and bearing good news!
Britney’s 22-year-old sister Jamie Lynn announced via Instagram last night that she and Jamie Watson, her boyfriend of three years, are engaged. The two posed for an adorable picture and Spears also posted a close-up of her new bling along with the caption “Guesssss what??????”
Congratulations you two! Here’s hoping the marriage works out better than those of her big sis.

Dean knew his girlfriend Lauren was a huge fan of boy bands in her teen years and decided to create a fake boy band called Fancy to propose to her on Christmas Eve. He recorded a cheesy music video with his friends of their latest supposed hit “Abacus,” which naturally, ended with a marriage proposal.
The music video is filled with stereotypical boy band scenes, including choreographed dance moves and a scene with Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA backdrop. This was the first year Lauren went to his family’s house for Christmas so it was a big deal to begin with — imagine getting a proposal on top of that?
Dean is most definitely raising the bar for any other guy thinking of proposing. Previously, we’ve seen a variety of lip dub proposals, including one to One Direction, and a proposal by an illusionist. Soon there’s going to be a reality show on who can come up with the most creative, outlandish “viral video” proposal — you just watch.

Miley Cyrus was pranked on Ellen today after a lightbulb burst and two sexy “electricians” came out to fix it. Turns out, the electricians were actually STRIPPERS in honour of Miley’s forthcoming nuptials and obligatory bachelorette party. The two muscly men thrusted and tore their white tanks off, right down the middle. While more modest celebrities might be embarrassed, Miley shouted “HELLZ YA” and slapped their asses because she’s pretty much that girl everyone wants at their party…
Miley also cleared up the silly rumour going around that she’s having more than one wedding. FALSE. “There’s some rumor going around that I’m having like 47 weddings,” she said. “I’m not! I’m having one wedding. That’s my day and whatever I want on that day, it will be about me in that moment and that look of love.” D’AW!

Chatting with Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show,” Miley Cyrus revealed some details on how fiance Liam Hemsworth proposed to her.
Having been recording and releasing backyard video sessions to sing some of her favourite songs, she said the actor popped the question at her house.
According to Cyrus, the whole thing went down during one of her recording sessions in which she sang the song “Lilac Wine.”
“About 20 minutes after that performance — it’s one of Liam’s favorite songs — he asked me to marry him,” she said, smiling. “I had no idea! He was sitting there and I’m like, ‘He’s looking at me funny!’ And then I knew.”
AHHHHH! That’s adorable. While it may not be ideal to marry so young for some people, let’s just be happy for the couple. They really do seem like they’re in love.
Should we be worried that this recently-wed hubby knows the exact amount of days Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married? Or worse, that he’s using the Kardashians as a barometer of success?
Either way, most married couples have surpassed Kardashian and Humphries in their marriage and it’s good to celebrate the small milestones in life. This boyfriend has a bright future ahead of him if he keeps thinking out of the box.
Hey girl, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but our future husband Ryan Gosling might permanently be off the market.
That is, if OK Magazine‘s sources are to be believed.
According to the magazine, Gosling is just “itching” to marry Eva Mendes, his girlfriend of just over a year. He’s reportedly “head over heels” in love with the actress and is trying to persuade her to walk down the aisle. Mendes on the other hand, apparently has no interest in getting married.
“It’s something Eva has balked at in the past, but Ryan has a charming way of helping her see a different kind of future. She’s getting on board with the idea of marriage,” revealed the insider.
The couple got together after meeting on the set of their film “The Place Beyond the Pines.” Since then, they have been inseparable and were even spotted at his mother’s graduation in Canada.
While I’m no particular believer in tabloids unless there’s legitimate truth, the first thing that ran through my head upon hearing this news was, “NOOOOOOOOOOO!”
Don’t get me wrong. I’ll be happy for the couple if they plan on getting married. But having loved Ryan since his Breaker High days, I will definitely feel just a tiny bit of sadness.
Poor Usher.
While he is in the middle of a tough custody battle with his ex-wife Tameka Foster for his two sons, the singer now has to deal with a crazy woman claiming to be married to him.
Usher recently got a restraining order against Darshelle Jones-Rakestraw, a 26-year-old woman who is convinced that she’s his wife. According to court documents, the woman showed up at Usher’s home in Georgia and harassed him and his family by knocking loudly on the door and demanding to be let in. Soon after, the cops were called and the woman was told to stay away.
But the next day, she returned once again claiming that not only was she Usher’s wife…she also just misplaced her keys.
Obviously not buying the story, the cops took her under arrest.
So like anybody looking for fame, Jones-Rakestraw took to YouTube to explain “her story”. In the video, she says that the singer has been sending her money for months and claims that “she’s not a stalker.”
Sure she isn’t. From the looks of the video, she sounds completely delusional.
But hey, since she showed the restraining order on camera, maybe she just wanted his autograph.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce after five years of marriage.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” says Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe to People. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
Cruise’s rep on the other hand, said: ”Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.”
The couple, who have been together since 2005, were very public with their relationship. Having been married since November 2006, Cruise and Holmes are also parents to six-year-old Suri.
This was Holmes’ first marriage and the third for Cruise, who was previously married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children.
I hate to see any couple break up. But in Hollywood unfortunately, the result seems to be inevitable.
Other than singing, song writing and being an animal activist, it turns out Ke$ha is also an ordained minister!
Using her title to marry two of her best friends, she posted on Twitter saying, “So happy today animals!Dont know if I told y’all but I’m an ordained minister and im marrying two of my best friends today!!!Wish me luck!!”
In addition to that tweet, the singer also posted photos of her two besties and the marriage license with her signature “$” scrawled onto it.
I can hardly imagine how wild a Ke$ha officiated marriage would be like. Though, I can defs picture a ton of glitter, animal prints and alcohol involved!
Kanye has admitted in the past that if he doesn’t verify something on Twitter or in a song, then it’s just not true. That’s why people are taking his lyrics about marriage so seriously —probably a little too seriously.
In a new guest spot on an untitled track by hip hop artist Pusha T, Kanye is expected to rap: ”I saw you in the club in a white dress/Now I want to put you in a white dress.”
Ya that’s it. That’s the big lyric everyone’s freaking out about. Us Weekly also reports that Kim and Kanye are undoubtedly having conversations about marriage. Although many wonder whether their relationship is just a PR stunt, ‘sources’ tell the magazine Kimye is completely real.
Of course, Kanye previously rapped about Kim in “Theraflu,” in which he says: ”And I admit I fell in love with Kim/’Round the same time she fell in love with him,” referring to Kris Humphries.
In the meantime, the two have been seen strolling around NYC together, getting ice cream and taking in Broadway shows. Plus, they already went through their first wardrobe malfunction together (see below).
In gratuitous wedding coverage of the day, we present CBC Toronto’s prank report on two local reporters getting hitched. The broadcasters treat Steven D’Souza and Nisha Patel’s nuptials like they’re Kate and William, dispatching reporters all across town to investigate what they refer to as “Breaking News” and a “developing story.”
One reporter is sent to the magical party room where the two met, before airing emotional interviews with close friends. Apparently the momentous day is felt across Canada and — wait for it — EUROPE. We know this because the CBC talked to a market analyst on the Lang & O’Leary Exchange to confirm that their marriage might be the turning point that the economy needs.
We’re not done. The CBC called on a correspondent located in the East Coast to retrace Steven’s former life, though all the reporter can talk about is girls in bikinis. Instead of a weather report, they forecast what will happen each year of the couple’s marriage. They’re forecasting twins in year three.
They save their star reporter for the last bit, when they call on an unwilling but game Peter Mansbridge. You can tell the whole thing is obviously just a prank or wedding gift for the happy couple. Either that, or it was a slow news day.

3) Losing balance and toppling to the ground in a fit of sobs. Wearing a green superhero cape and carrying One Direction paraphernalia will not ward off symptoms like garlic. In fact, it will make it worse.
4) Extreme happiness that results in methodical crying and running mascara.
5) Creating pacts/alliances so you and your groupies have a better chance of finding 1D, getting their autographs or in extreme cases, locks of hair.
In another addition of Kardashian-Humphries divorce news, TMZ reports that both are willing to end their marriage with an annulment if the other confesses to fraud.
Huh?
Kardashian think Humphries should admit to fraud because he promised to live with her in Hollywood but then said he wanted to move to his native Minnesota.
Humphries on the other hand, believes his estranged wife only married him as a publicity stunt and never intended to make it work.
And so the mystery of who’s right continues…
My solution to this problem is that they should both admit the marriage was a publicity stunt and owe us all money for having to hear every annoying detail of their lives!
Too bad it isn’t possible…
I just hope they settle things soon so we can all stop hearing about them and their extremely public lives.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are getting divorced. Brand filed for divorce in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to TMZ.
As we reported earlier today, rumors have been swirling about the state of their marriage. However, sources were saying that although the couple were having problems, they were trying to work things out.
“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends,” the 36-year-old Brit comedian told the Associated Press.
Rumors of their relationship troubles surfaced during the holidays when the couple were seen without their wedding rings.
Brand, who is starring in the upcoming Rock of Ages and Diablo Cody’s directorial debut and 27-year-old Perry wed October 2011 in India.
There are some new signs that Russell Brand and Katy Perry could be having some marriage problems. Rumors have been circulating for a while that the couple were separating.
Russell Brand was spotted in London not wearing his wedding ring. At the same time, Katy Perry has been spotted having a good time in Hawaii. Additionally, the couple didn’t even spend the holidays together.

The two actors in the series who played a cheating couple, Rolando Boyce and LeShay Tomlinson found love in a hopeless place. AUX writesthe couple fell in love on the set six years ago and tied the knot three years later. Is this just me or is this the first time infidelity brought two people closer together?
Since they married, Rolando and LeShay have had two kids together. The couple looked incredibly dashing in their wedding photo that TMZ posted.

Rumours are flying on the internet after Britney tweeted a rather suspicious suggestion that Jason Trawick may have finally proposed.
At just 30 years old, Britney Spears is already chasing down Elizabeth Taylor’s all-time record for most celebrity marriages. This will be the third time Britney has said her vows, but the first time it will really seems legitimate.
We all know the years haven’t always been kind to Britney and I’m just happy she found a nice guy who’s a good influence on her. Since they got together, we’ve seen many candid photos of the couple looking genuinely happy with her two kids from a previous marriage. You could even say it’s starting to look like the nuclear family she always wanted. In addition, since being with Jason, there hasn’t been a single “hot mess” moment and no one has threatened to shave their head.
We’re still waiting on the official confirmation but let’s hope it’s true so we can finally be rid of K-Fed forever.
Kim Kardashian is suing her former publicist Jonathan Jaxson after Jaxson went on a media tour calling her marriage to Kris Humphries a “sham.”
“It was obvious that it was staged,” Jaxson recently said on “Good Day L.A.” “There were contracts already in place for E! to film it. Everything was written down.”
Now Kim and her lawyer are suing Jaxson for $200,000 for damages. Jonathan posted the following on his blog, saying there are no grounds for the suit.
“To the best of my knowledge, I have never signed an agreement dealing with confidentiality with Kim Kardashian. I have an agreement in my possession that does not have either parties signature on it,” wrote Jaxson, who added that many of his recent statements have been based on conversations with friends he and Kardashian share.
