New Amy Winehouse Album To Be Released After Her Death

When jazz & soul singer Amy Winehouse passed away last July, she only had two studio album under her belt. When the 27-year-old died due to alcohol poisoning, it was clear her record label would put out an album of her unreleased material.

E! reports the new album, appropriately titled Lioness: Hidden Treasures, is hitting shelves December 6. The 12-track album will include original songs written and recorded before her death, cover songs and a duet with Tony Bennett.

Lioness was produced by Amy’s long-time friend and collaborator Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi. Amy’s family gave them heir blessing when approached with the idea.

“If the family had felt that this album wasn’t up to the standard of Frank and Back to Black, we would never have agreed to release it and we believe it will stand as fitting tribute to Amy’s musical legally,” her father Mitch Winehouse told E! Entertainment.

Duran Duran Reworks ‘Rio’ For Mark Ronson

Duran Duran have recorded a “new” version of their 1982 hit “Rio” in tribute to British uber-producer Mark Ronson.

Ronson, who is collaborating with the veteran band on their upcoming album, appeared on BBC Radio 1′s “Zane Lowe Show” last week with the updated track, which now includes lines like: “His name is Ronson and he mixes with both hands” and “When he cuts he really shows you all he can.”

Ronson also spoke to the DJ about working on Duran Duran’s new album, the follow-up to 2007′s “Red Carpet Massacre.”

“I loved the first four albums – some of my favourite records of all time – and I think it sounds like that,” the producer said. “The stuff we’ve been recording so far is nice. Nick [Hodgson] from the Kaiser Chiefs came on and wrote a couple of songs, and it sounds good.”

The band, which formed in Birmingham, England in 1978, will play one date in Russia in June and have a handful of other shows confirmed for the U.S. and the U.K. in July.

Duran Duran Teams Up With Mark Ronson

British uber-producer Mark Ronson is putting his Midas touch on Duran Duran’s next album.

Ronson, who co-produced Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” and has collaborated with the likes of Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen and Adele, has gone into the studio with the ’80s pop icons to work on their 13th LP.

“Working with Ronson is a natural next step for the band, who continue to challenge themselves with each new phase of their career,” read a statement on Duran Duran’s blog.

The album is the follow-up to the band’s 2007 release, “Red Carpet Massacre,” which featured collaborations with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake.

Duran Duran and Ronson previously teamed up for a one-off concert in Paris last summer in which they reworked the band’s classic catalogue.

At the time, singer Simon Le Bon called Ronson “one of the biggest talents to have emerged in recent years,” while Ronson said Duran Duran “were the only band I ever idolised” and admitted he “used to take a picture of [bassist] John Taylor with me to the barber shop.”
