Lana Del Rey’s new music video for “National Anthem” begins with her channeling Marilyn Monroe when the starlet infamously sang “Happy Birthday” to President Kennedy in 1962. We always expect throwback videos from Del Rey but this one takes her retro love to a new level as she channels both the alleged mistress (Monroe) as well as the president’s wife Jackie Kennedy Onassis. A$AP Rocky, who collaborated with Del Rey on the track plays Kennedy.
As if I’m not already one of those annoying people that wishes they were born in a different era, the old cinematography and vintage styles make the tragic plot unabashedly romantic. She always manages to be inspired by the old but make it completely fresh and new.
Del Rey and A$AP Rocky will release the single on July 8, plus it’s on her already-released debut LP Born To Die.

The kids from Staten Island’s PS22 Chorus have delivered yet another stellar performance. Paying tribute to iconic actress Marilyn Monroe on what would have been her 86th birthday, they cover Nicki Minaj’s “Marilyn Monroe.”
Impressed with their rendition, Nicki Minaj shared the video on her website. These kids have some serious talent. I can’t wait to see what they have in store next!
After much speculation, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have finally revealed the names of their twins who were born on Saturday, reports Perez Hilton.
The happy couple have named their son Moroccan Scott Cannon, his middle name taken from Cannon’s own middle name, as well as his grandmother’s maiden name. As for his first name, Moroccan comes from Carey’s Moroccan Room, the top tier of her New York City apartment, where Cannon proposed. Although it comes off as an odd name at first, it makes perfect sense once you hear their reasoning!
As well, they named their daughter Monroe Cannon, after Carey’s long-time inspiration, Marilyn Monroe. The baby girl was not given a middle name since Carey does not have one herself.
“It has been a long, emotional journey for this family,” Mariah’s rep, Cindi Berger, told CNN, “and I couldn’t be happier for all of them.” We couldn’t agree more, and the names they’ve chosen are adorable!
The couple received their baby twins on August 30 following their third wedding anniversary, renewing their hospital vows in the hospital.
What do you think of Mariah and Nick’s babies’ names?
The burial vault above where Marilyn Monroe’s remains lie was auctioned off, but failed to receive any bids, reports CBC. This is the second time the crypt of Richard Poncher has been placed on the auction block since August.
Poncher’s widow is selling the vault to pay off the mortgage on her home in Beverly Hills. He died 23 years ago and his remains will be moved to a nearby plot, she says.
The starting bid on auctioncause.com was $500,000, but Eric Gazin of the auction web site says the family was hoping to get $4 million.
In light of her recent breakup, 22 year old Lindsay Lohan decided it was time for something new in her life.
PEOPLE reports that a source saw the new tat which is a Marilyn Monroe quote tattooed in cursive on her inner-wrist. Monroe’s full quote is: “Everyone’s a star and deserves the right to twinkle.” The wording is also surrounded by stars.
It is clear that the star idolizes Monroe. Last year, she recreated Monroe’s famous nude 1962 photo shoot for New York Magazine. She told the publication at the time that Monroe was a “prime example of what this industry can do to someone.”
Movie veteran MICKEY ROONEY gave MARILYN MONROE her famous moniker after telling her NORMA RAE wasn’t Hollywood enough.
The NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM star met the wannabe actress at a party and was captivated by her look, but not her name. Rooney recalls taking the starlet home that night and helping her define her famous name and image.
He tells Premiere magazine, “I said, ‘Something tells me you have a wonderful chance – but you gotta change your name: There was a wonderful star named MARILYN MILLER, and nobody’s used it (name). You should be Marilyn.’
“Then the phone rang and it was a guy I used to write scripts with whose name was TOM MONROE… She said, ‘Who were you talking to?’ ‘I was talking to your last name… You’re Marilyn Monroe.’”
