Yesterday, we posted Avril Lavigne’s new music video for “Here’s to Never Growing Up,” where, incidentally, she appears to be incapable of aging. Lavigne still looks and dresses the same as she did when she first broke out in 2003—just a little blonder.
Mariah Carey also happens to be another celebrity who looks like she can’t age in her just released music video for “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel. Carey, who has primed herself up for a comeback, looks, dresses and acts like she did a decade ago as she tried to Glitter her way into our hearts. No really. Skimpy outfits, lots of body grazing dance moves that scream “LOOK HOW HOT I STILL AM” and all.
It’s not that we don’t love Mariah — we do. We’re just still amazed she can pull stuff like this off when she’s 43-years-old. Kudos, Mariah, for finding the fountain of youth. It’s nice that you shared it with Charlize Theron who also looks like a total badass (okay, she’s only 37 but did you not see her at the Oscars rocking that Pixie cut?!).
By the way, can we get rid of the hashtag song name craze? It got old and tired after will.i.am started to abuse it with his latest offering. Just sayin’.
I don’t know if I should be embarrassed or insanely proud that I know most of the cringe-worthy songs highlighted in this video that oh-so conveniently condenses 1999 into ten minutes. For example, I totally remember rocking out to Mambo No. 5 and Shania Twain’s “I Feel Like a Woman” (I was 8, okay?). But I also find myself going “damn, that’s a really good song” the longer I watch. TLC’s “Unpretty” and Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker feat. Jay Z” are one of the best songs ever.
There were a lot of ups and downs when it came to 1999. I mean, Pokémon Snap was possibly the worst idea for a video game but Sonic was amazing. Then there was 10 Things I Hate About You which, by the way, is still one of my favourite movies. AND FIGHT CLUB! Thank you, Brad Pitt for starring in Fight Club!
Ugh. Someone get me a time machine. Let me go back to the days of Backstreet Boys, bad haircuts and Pokémon!
In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Jennifer Lawrence is flawless after snagging an Oscar, One Directioner Harry Styles gets hit with a shoe and diva Mariah Carey gives us an eyeful.
HIT: Jennifer lawrence jokes around with the press.
We were all on the edge of our seats when the gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence had a little tumble on her way to accept her Oscar for best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. But instead of breaking down and having a total biotch-fit, the actress commented on her slip. When she was later asked what was going through her head when she tripped, the actress said, “a bad word that I can’t say that starts with ‘F.’” Well Jennifer, you made that fall look so good and who could blame you? That dress you were wearing was pretty redonkulous.
MISS: Harry Styles gets hit with a shoe.
On Tuesday our favourite Brits performed in Glasgow, Scotland when Styles got hit in the crotch with a flying shoe. Ouch! Fans have expressed their condolences in the twitterverse by hashtgging, #Pray4HarryBalls. We’ll be sure to keep them in our prayers. Hmm… Maybe someone should check if T-Swift has any missing shoes in her closest. LOL.
HIT: FLOTUS presents Best Picture
While the Oscars try their very best at keeping us entertained and guessing, nothing was more unexpected and surprising than the First Lady of the United States’ Oscar appearance. Via satellite, The FLOTUS helped present Best Picture to Argo. According to Deadline, Michelle’s involvement was so top secret that she wasn’t even included on the production schedule.

“Almost Home,” Mariah Carey’s newest song, has been released from the soundtrack of the “Oz Great an Powerful” soundtrack. This song is ideal to play over the credits of a feel good disney-esque movie. It makes me nostalgic, remembering her and Whitney Houston’s “When You Believe” from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack.
The music video of the song, to be directed by David LaChappelle, will include clips from the movie.
The song seems very appropriate for the film. It’s been a long time since a song like this has been attached to a new movie, for it is normally indie bands or top 40 artists who have lately recorded for movies. I’m thinking every soundtrack for every past Twilight movie that has had artists ranging from Taylor Swift to Paramore record songs. Thank you Mariah Carey for bringing back sweet ballads to disney films.
Oz The Great and Powerful,” starring James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz, will hit theatres on March 8. music
When Mariah Carey says it’s Christmas, YOU BETTER FOLLOW HER LEAD.
Making the best of the snowstorm yesterday, the singer decided to treat the blizzard like a holiday by turning on the fireplace and eating Santa Claus cookies.
It’s hard to hear exactly what she’s saying over the blaring music, but it appears that she’s still in denial that Christmas is over.
However, the diva does offer an important message right at the end of the clip.
“Listening to Christmas music today, driving around, seeing different people made me feel GOOD! And that’s what life is about. So you can say what you want to say but we’re having fun!”
You have a fabulous life Mariah and I also wish that every day was Christmas !
Can we be BFFS, please?
Nicki Minaj went on Ellen this morning to talk about the feud she apparently had with Mariah Carey a few months ago that was caught on video. Minaj says she “cannot hold a grudge,” and she doesn’t know if Mariah Carey is holding one. If she is? Minaj doesn’t care.
Minaj begged us and Ellen to believe that she’s NOT psycho. She also told Ellen about the strenuous hours already spent on the American Idol set, fearing she’ll say something nasty during upcoming live shows. Leave it to Ellen to eloquently tell Minaj what SHE thinks the popstar’s true problem is — that “Logical Nicki” likes to step back while “Crazy Nicki’s” passion gets the better of her.
Minaj also talked to Ellen about her dating life, specifically her ring and her New Year’s kiss. I’m not sure what is more embarrassing… being grilled on your dating life or being psychoanalyzed by Ellen Degeneres.

Being named after a superstar certainly has its perks. While performing a concert in Sydney, Australia on January 3, Mariah Carey invited a six-year-old named Mariah Cini on stage upon finding out that the little girl was named after her.
During a break between songs, Carey asked Cini if she could look at her ensemble. Complimenting her with, “Your outfit is very pretty. That is pink and it’s gorgeous!”, Carey added that she she hated that she was the only one with the name Mariah growing up and now she’s excited to see other girls with the same name.
According to Contact Music, Cini’s father Chris met Carey during a concert in Australia in 1998 and decided to name his daughter after the songstress. “Mariah Carey is truly a beautiful, genuine person. She’s protective of her fans and she’s not above herself at all. I knew when we were having a baby girl that she would be my Mariah Grace,” he said.
“I’ve always liked her, from when I was born, basically,” Mariah Cini added. “Dad always said if she came back [to Australia] we’d go to visit her and I couldn’t believe it. I know I’m one of the luckiest fans in Australia.”
Mariah Carey may be a diva, but she’s humble and certainly knows how to treat her fans right. What a class act!
When Mariah Carey says it’s Christmas…it’s exciting. But according to YouTuber alexnicolaou, it’s OUT OF THIS WORLD.
After Mariah Carey collaborated with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots for a rendition of ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’, the vlogger filmed his reactions to the video. He was literally so excited that he had to run out of the room and jump with joy.
I have never seen someone act so excited before. God bless him.
Check out the original video here.
Backstage before the show, Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey and The Roots grabbed some instruments you’d find in an elementary school classroom and stopped by the Late Night music room to sing Mariah’s holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
If you aren’t already in the holiday spirit, this video will make you feel like you just chugged a mug of warm cocoa by the fireplace while someone blows mini paper snowflakes by your head. Inviting an elementary school choir join in on the chorus gave their rendition even more heart and you can’t help loving their sparkly red attire.
Don’t forget to check out their version of “Call Me Maybe” with Carly Rae Jepsen. What song do you want to hear them cover next?

Looks like all those rumours surrounding the potential cat fight between newly christened American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are coming true. TMZ released footage of Minaj at the Idol judging table going ballistic on Carey, even threatening to knock her out.
It all went down in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday after a disagreement over a contestant’s performance. In the video, Nicki shouts: ”I told them I’m not f*ckin’ putting up with her f**kin’ highness over there.”
Mariah replies: ““Oh why, WHYYYY do I have a three year old sitting around me?” Carey goes on: “I can’t see my kids, because you decided to act like a little crazy bitch and go all around the stage.”
According to TMZ Nicki threatened to knock Mariah out before the video starts. I had a feeling Mariah would be a little dramatic this season but the only one who looks awful to work with in this video is Nicki.
Actually, the people I feel most sympathetic to in this situation are fellow judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban, who have to put up with the bickering. In fact, Randy must be missing the days when notoriously vile (but probably a secret softy) judge Simon Cowell was on the panel.
Transcript from ThatGrapejuice:
Nicki Get this s**t in self control. Get in control. Get in control.
Randy Settle down, settle down.
Nicki Don’t lose your head. Don’t lose your head (inaudible). Don’t tell me I’m a gangster.
Nicki (inaudible) every 5 minutes. So every time you patronize me, I’m-ma take it back, and if you’ve got a f**king problem, handle it.
Nicki I told them I’m not f**kin’ putting up with her f**king highness over there. Figure it the f**k out. Figure it out.
Mariah Oh why, WHYYYY do I have a three year old sitting around me?
Nicki I’m not gonna sit here every f*cking minute to have you come down and harass me every minute everyday.
Mariah I can’t see my kids, because you decided to act like a little crazy bitch and go all around the stage.

It’s confirmed! Jennifer Lopez is out and Mariah Carey is in.
Kevin Reilly announced today that Carey will be the new judge for season 12 of American Idol at the TV Critics Association Summer Press tour in Beverly Hills. That means there will be one less DIVA available to judge a singing competition.
“I’m so excited to be joining ‘Idol.’ I wanted to be there today and I wish I could’ve been there myself to tell you,” Carey said via phone after Reilly called her on speaker. “It happened really quickly. I can’t wait to get started in a couple months. Everybody have a great TCA and I will see you in January.”
Rumours are already swirling about whether Carey will be a handful. According to TMZ, sources said Carey was a nightmare to work with when she was a guest judge in 2008.

I hear the grumbles already. Britney Spears, the new X Factor judge? Really, can she string together a sentence?
Simon Cowell approached the popstar to serve as a judge on the next season of X Factor, after Paula Abdul, Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger all got the ax. The deal is expected to be closed sometime next week. The payoff could be as much as $10 million!
I understand the logic behind the move. Spears brings a devout fanbase to the show and the public will probably tune in just to see if she screws it up or makes another comeback. She’s also been a successful recording artist for the past decade, whether you like her or not.
The thing is, will she be a strong judge or mentor? She’s typically not comfortable on camera (we all remember her shaving her head) so how will she interact with the competitors? AND she’s known more for performing rather than for her voice. So if she’s not mentoring a group that doesn’t rely on strong performance, how will she fare?
Anyway, we’ll see next week whether she seals the deal and we’ll find out in the next month who the third judge will be — so far names like Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have been floating around. It seems like the controversy over judges is getting more attention than the show itself.
Will you be watching?
Even since repeatedly pestering that poor DJ to turn the record up in 2005, Robyn Rihanna Fenty has been a chart-topping powerhouse representative of Def Jam Records. With her collaborations dominating the charts as of late, it seems that the recipe to Billboard success is a Rihanna hook. After all, she has the most digital number-one hits with eleven and counting.
That’s more number-one’s than Stevie Wonder or Janet Jackson. That’s two away from Michael Jackson and nine away from the untouchable Beatles. Are we talking quantity, not quality? It’s up for debate. How does she compare to the Gaga’s, Perry’s and Beyonce’s?
Turn on the radio. Open a music magazine. And if they’re on a break from their teen-preganancy programming, watch MTV. From Maroon 5 to Eminem to Coldplay to Lonely Island, there is that familiar sultry croon of the official ambassador of youth and culture for Barbados. She is considerably the most-featured female singer of this millennium. She’s no Fitzgerald, or Goulding for that matter, but it’s either she has a remarkable talent or impeccable timing. OK, maybe Jay-Z has a little something to do with it.
Going back to 2008, she was featured on two of the biggest songs of the year: Maroon5′s “If I Ever See Your Face Again” and T.I.’s redemption-song “Live Your Life.” Two opposing ends of the musical spectrum that equally delivered as hits in their respective genres.
Recently, her collaborations haven’t slowed down, they’ve been unescapable on the pop-charts. She duels with Nicki Minaj, harmonizes on Kanye’s “All of the Lights”and even trades verses with Chris Martin in Coldplay’s “Princess of China” In response to his appearance on “What’s My Name?”, Rihanna flourishes in the role of a wounded-love on the title track of Drake’s upcoming Take Care EP.
Her solo success should not be ignored. In Billboard’s 53-year-history, Rihanna is in a third-place tie with the legendary Whitney Houston for most chart-toppers, behind Mariah Carey and Madonna. That’s a fine line between jaw-dropping and head-scratching. She was also named Digital Song Artist of the Decade in 2009, passing Mr. West, Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
In a recent study, the most popular videos on YouTube are unsurprisingly, music videos that occupy an incredible 86% of the top 60 most-viewed. What’s even more mind-boggling is that a trifecta of pop-artists total a 25% of those 60 videos: Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Bieber impregnates the rest of the pack with 1.664 billion views. Mother Monster rolls in with 842 million views and Rihanna clocks in with 715 million views.
With her new album Talk That Talk on the horizon (due out November 21), critical pop-singles are expected to stampede the airwaves. She took to Twitter on Tuesday to confirm that her mentor would appear on the title track: “Yes sir! Jigga man is on the title track #TTT.” What a clubhouse that must be, with Kanye and Jay meeting their female counterparts of Beyonce and Rihanna for an afternoon picnic.
Hova and Ri-Ri previously collaborated on her mega-hit “Umbrella” and he featured her on that Blueprint 3 power-house single, “Run This Town.”
She’s definitely beating Chris Brown’s success to death.
Mariah Carey is a Twitter addict, and she shares everything with her followers. This includes pictures of Nick Cannon in the hospital.
“Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure,” she tweeted early Wednesday morning.
“This is us in the hospital – role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are,” she added.
“We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful,” Mariah writes. “They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.”
There is proof for you. Mariah is a very dedicated wife who is at her husband’s side when he is in need. Who would have thought?
If hearing “Jingle Bells” and “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” makes you want to puke, well, you better get those barf bags out, because Chrsitmas music isn’t going anywhere.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, when U.S. radio stations began playing christmas music 24/7, they raked in $20.1 billion, up 8 per cent from last year. So, if you’re a total Scrooge about the holiday music, you better buy some metal CDs to have handy in your car.
“There’s no other programming tactic in radio history that consistently delivers ratings increases better than Christmas music,” says senior VP of Clear Channel, Darren Davis.
When radio stations go the festive route, there are more chances you may hear the same annoying holiday song more than once in the office. For example, KYXY-FM in San Diego, played Bing Crosby’s version of “White Christmas” six times in one day. Given that the young guy has four holiday singels already, I wonder how many times Justin Bieber will come up on the radio today.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, here are the six most popular Christmas songs on the radio:
1. John Lennon – “Happy Christmas (War is Over)”
2. Andy Williams – “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”
3. Burl Ives – “Have a Holly Holly Christmas”
4. Mariah Carey – “All I Want For Christmas is You”
5. Nat King Cole – “The Christmas Song”
6. Jose Feliciano- ”Feliz Navidad”
All we want for Christmas is Justin Bieber. But, sadly, we can’t all be Selena Gomez. Or Mariah Carey in this case.
Yes, the lucky songbird got to costar in a joyous music video with the Biebs for his new song “All I Want For Christmas”, which is a cover of an old Mariah track.
The new mother of two looks like a total knock-out dresses as Mrs. Santa Claus and Bieber’s sporting a nice, fresh haircut. He’s sporting the most comfiest Christmas sweaters, you can’t help but want to cozy up by the fireplace with him and Mariah.
That dog featured in the end of the video, where Justin and Mariah pass out presnets together is one lucky canine! Check out the cute video posted below.
We’ve finally got a photo of Justin and Mariah together, and we’re not talking about the baby accuser, Mariah Yeater. The Mariah that’s been getting up close and personal with the bubbly singer is Mariah Carey.
The two recently filmed a music video for “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, a song of Mariah’s that Justin covers on his recently released holiday record. ET Canada posted on their Twitter page a photo of the two snuggling up with a very cute puppy.
It begs the question to every high school girl out there: Who’s cuter, a puppy or Justin Bieber? It’s a tough call, I think. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

What a busy few weeks it’s been for cousin Bieber, he dropped his new album Under the Mistletoe, appeared in Macy’s Black Friday commercial, freestyled over Jay-Z and Kanye’s “Otis,” and not only did he shoot a vide with Boyz II Men, but he did another with Mariah Carey.
According to his Twitter account, that video will be premiere at the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting next week:
“BIG NEWS! Me and @MariahCarey will debut “All I Want For Christmas Is You” Video WORLDWIDE on the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting. #4DAYS”Of course, Carey has a classic video for the song that showcases her skimpy Santa suits and promiscuous snow-bunny behaviour as she runs around in a festive frenzy.
She took to her Twitter also: “Shooting the final take of ‘All I Want.’ duet with suprise appearance by Jilly Beans & directed by my friend, the wonderful Sanaa Hamri.” What really dated her is her follow-up tweet, acknowledging her personal milestone, “Happy anniversary to MERRY CHRISTMAS II YOU!!”
Bieber told MTV News that securing Carey was easier than expected: “Mariah Carey is doing it with me! It’s incredible. So excited,” he said. “We wanted Mariah from the beginning, but we kind of thought it was really hard, so we didn’t really push the idea. But she’s on my label, so we reached out to some people, she got in contact with us, and Randy Jackson was actually at the studio with us, and I was like, ‘Yo, you think you can help get Mariah on the Christmas album?’ And he was like, ‘I’m actually going to see her in New York on Monday,’ and I was like ‘Yo, go do that!’ ”
Enjoy the new music video for Bieber’s collab with Boyz II Men, “Fa La La”:
Get your barf bangs out, everybody!
Newlyweds Nikki Reed and American Idol contestant Paul McDonald are so in love they had to record a cheesy song to let it all out.
The couple premiered their song “Now That I Got You” on Ryan Seacreast’s radio show this morning. She told Ryan she attends a lot of open mic nights with her hubby and plans to record more songs with him.
You can listen to the song posted below.
Nikki and Paul aren’t the first couple to record music together but they definitely should be the last. Before you know it, Gwyneth Paltrow can be found on every Coldplay song! The gesture is nice but incredibly cheesy and unnecessary in my opinion. Let’s separate business from pleasure, shall we? Here are some other couples who should never make music together.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
We all know Justin’s a triple threat. Jessica’s only known for her acting – for now! Let’s hope Justin doesn’t convince her to sing harmonies for his next album.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
She can belt a note like no other, but Nick should stick to making an ass of himself on television. The R&B diva is doing fine on her own.
Fergie and Josh Dumel
Fergie’s one fly babe when she’s on stage with the Black Eyed Peas, but could you imagine Josh Dumel booty-popping with her on stage? That’s an epic fail waiting to happen.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
Gwyneth have have sang in that Country Strong movie and duetted with Cee Lo Green at award shows, but if she ever summons Chris Martin into a song, all hell will break lose. She should stick to mediocre acting and raving about organic food.
