The Apple Juicz simultaneously powers and charges MacBooks, and either powers or charges the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Instead of heavy glass cells typically used for generating solar power, the Apple Juicz makes use of lighter materials and can fold into only 10.5 inches. It offers 55 watts of power to the Mac laptops and unfolds to 62 X 42 inches to gather as much solar power as possible while still being portable. A fully-charged Apple Juicz can provide MacBooks and MacBook Pros with 4 to 8 additional hours of power.

All models of MacBooks using this hardware must be upgraded to a MagSafe power adapter, which can be modified by QuickerTek for $25 or a new power adapter can be bought for $100. The Apple Juciz retails for $1000. More details can be found at http://www.quickertek.com/.

Link: www.powersupportusa.com
Cost: $10.00-$12.00US
Rating: 5/5

I just installed “Track Pad Film” for my MacBook Pro from www.powersupportusa.com and I love it.

I was mainly worried about the way it would look once applied. Now that it is, I can barely notice it. The Track Pad Film is designed to protect your MacBook Pro’s track pad from dirt, dust and finger oils. It’s made of a “special polymer” and is installed with a non destructive adhesive over your track-pad. I’ve taken it off once, and was pleased to see – and feel – that it left no sticky residue. (I haven’t used it for very long so I couldn’t tell you what it might feel like after months or years of use).

Another thing I really like about the Track Pad Film is the feel. It adds a really nice smooth feel to the Track Pad. While you might not think your current track pad is “rough”, you’ll definitely feel the difference in comparison once you install it.

Installation was also fairly simply. It took me just two tries to get it perfect for the track pad itself and two more for the actual track pad button. The whole installation was under 5 minutes. The instructions say to use a piece of tape to lift the film if you want to remove it. This didn’t seem to work with mine, so I just used the corner of a stiff business card to lift one of the corners.

The Track Pad film is also a pretty good value for the cost. At $12.00US for the MacBook Pro version, the Track Pad Film comes with two sets of film, one for replacement. I don’t see myself ever really needing the replacement, so I’ll be able to throw the second set on a second MacBook Pro. If I do need a replacement sometime in the future, I certainly don’t mind shelling out 12 bucks for it.

While I’ve only tested on a 15″ MacBook Pro, the Track Pad Film that I got is also completely compatible with the 17″ MacBook Pro and two other versions are available for the Black and White MacBooks at $10.00US. As well, they make films for iPods and older computer models such as iBooks and PowerBooks.

I don’t know yet if I would say that the Track Pad film is a necessity, especially compared to a keyboard protector. However, I defiantly really like the product, it’s easy to install, feels nice and isn’t noticeable. Most importantly, as I turn to my left and look at my colleague with his MacBook, which he has had less than a year, and notice the gross discolouration on his track pad, I’m certainly glad my track pad is protected. Check out powersupportusa.com/ for more information on how to order.
