Joaquin Phoenix, Liv Tyler and Miley Cyrus Stand Up for Suicide Prevention

After last year’s bizarre bearded public appearances, Joaquin Phoenix has finally shown his face – and it’s clean shaven!

Phoenix recently appeared in a promotional video for suicide prevention organization To Write Love On Her Arms alongside Miley Cyrus and Liv Tyler.

TWLOHA is a non-profit organization aimed at finding help for people struggling with self-injury, addiction, depression and suicidal thoughts.

In the video, Cyrus shows Phoenix how to log onto www.twloha.com.

Once there, they vote for TWLOHA, getting a chance to win $1 million.

Cyrus also teaches Phoenix who Lady Gaga is, perhaps playing on the fact that Joaquin Phoenix was actually living under a rock for the past year.

TWLOHA founder, Jamie Tworkowski, also appears in the vid, explaining that Phoenix often has writing on his arms, which was actually inspired the name of the organization.

Alt-rockers the Lemonheads will release their album of covers, “Varshons,” on June 23 – and you might be surprised by two of the famous names making guest appearances.

Supermodel Kate Moss can be heard singing on the track “Dirty Robot,” originally performed by Arling & Cameron. Meanwhile, “The Incredible Hulk” actress Liv Tyler provides backup vocals on the Leonard Cohen song “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye.”

Other artists covered on the album include Gram Parson (“I Just Can’t Take It Anymore”), Townes Van Zandt (“Waiting Around to Die”) and Christina Aguilera (“Beautiful”).

“Varshons” was produced by the Butthole Surfers’ Gibby Haynes, whom Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando credited with inspiring the covers collection.

“Making a good mix is an art, and Gibby has it down,” Dando said in a statement. “I thought it would be fun to share these songs with other people like he shared them with me. So I picked the ‘greatest hits’ from his mixes and covered them, along with a few other songs I always wanted to play.”

The Lemonheads formed in Boston in 1986, with Dando remaining the only constant member over the years. The group’s most recent album was a self-titled release in 2006 that featured contributions from members of The Band and Dinosaur Jr.

Liv Tyler almost gave up acting to become a fulltime mother.

The “Lord of the Rings” star took the whole of last year off to give birth to her first child, Milo, and has now admitted she nearly turned her back on Hollywood altogether.

Liv told the Buffalo News newspaper: “It was really a reflective period for me, and I was asking myself all these questions, like, ‘Should I retire and move to the country and have lots of babies?’

“That year off helped me realize I love what I do.”

The 29-year-old actress – the daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler – is currently filming new thriller “The Strangers” in South Carolina, in the
heart of America’s tobacco country.

And Liv is enjoying the relaxed attitude to nicotine consumption.

She said: “What’s really great about this place is you can smoke almost anywhere.”

The “Armageddon” actress initially liked the title of the film because she thought it was a comedy but when she started reading the nail biting script about a couple trying to survive when three masked strangers invade their home, she couldn’t put it down.

She said: “I had stacks of scripts on the plane. I liked the title of this one because it sounded like a comedy. After reading the first three pages, I was stuck on it and called my agent and said, ‘Please get it for me. I want to be in this movie.’”
