Akon initially signed Lady Gaga to his KonLive project at Interscope, and he was very involved with her career. However, he told MTV News that he is very hands off now.

“So the way it works is, Gaga’s on Kon Live/Streamline, which is Vincent Herbert, and it’s distributed through Interscope,” he explained to MTV News. “And the first two albums, we were fully involved in everything creative when it comes to Gaga, and then, as she grows, she becomes more in tune with herself [and] what she wants to do.

“Now she has full control over her project, period,” he continued. “Everything you see of Gaga now is all from her brain … and our job is just to make sure whatever she’s thinking we can make into reality. So I guess more so with the approval processes and everything like that, we still do what we do, but creatively, 100 percent, it’s all Gaga, and Vince does all the day-to-day stuff relating to Gaga.”

Akon has also said many times that Gaga has made him so much money, he can easily retire.

American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze has lost his record label – RCA Records. Extremely sad considering it’s only been a year and a half since he took the Idol title.

RCA is home to other Idol winners like Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood.

We can only assume DeWyze has been dropped due to poor sales.

DeWyze representative said he’s “in a good place right now” and working on “several exciting projects”.

Legendary singer Annie Lennox has been dropped by her label, reports SoundGenerator.com.

Lennox is reportedly devastated by Sony BMG’s sudden dismissal of her, and perhaps considering retirement. “It feels like I’m spent, as if I’ve completely run out of energy,” she told the site. “I’m going to take my time over the coming months to figure out what to do with this freedom.”

Weeks before Lennox’s contract was due to expire, the label cut off communication. “They totally ignored me,” Lennox said. “It was bizarre. It was a kick in the teeth. They didn’t return my phone calls or emails for three weeks. I’m trying to find out what’s behind it.

“Probably a good thing I’m no longer with them – mild understatement. Unless it’s them trying to tell me something… Hello!”

The label used to call Lennox “one of the finest musical voices of the age.”

Jay-Z’s fans got a sneak preview last week of his much-anticipated album, “Kingdom Come,” much to the dismay of the rapper himself.

Jay-Z’s record label, Universal Music Group, announced Tuesday it will launch a lawsuit against the popular site MySpace after it released the entire album.

The mammoth label is suing the site for $150,000 for copyright infringement on every unauthorized song and video that MySpace has on its servers.

A spokesperson for Univeral Music says, “The suit is intended to protect the rights of our artists and songwriters and do something about the massive infringement that is going on.”

Kingdom Come is to be released on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
