Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell had one of the funniest bits during last night’s Golden Globes ceremony (save Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s opening monologue) when they improvised their presentation for the Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical category.
Every year, the Golden Globes asks presenters to watch all the films in their category, which Ferrell and Wiig totally did. They swear. Soon, we realized, they had absolutely no idea what each of the movies were actually about.
“Emily Blunt – Salmon Fishing In The Yemen. Beautiful. When the salmon are coming out…” said Ferrell. “Judi Dench. Where did she come from? Unknown. She used to be a police officer,” he continued.
About Jennifer Lawrence, who won the award for Silver Linings Playbook, Ferrell said: “Jennifer Lawrence. J-Law. And the silver… I thought it was an animated film.”
Although they didn’t get around to watching the movies in their category, the two SNL alums are luckily trained in improvisation. In fact, I think they should be understudies at next year’s Golden Globes because of their clear ability to bullsh*t through anything!

Looks like a lot of our favourite SNL cast members are leaving the show.
First it was Kristen Wiig…and now Andy Samberg.
After much speculation, the comedian confirmed the rumours to the New York Times
that he won’t be returning next season.
“It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,” Andy said. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.”
From one of the guys who brought us The Lonely Island, he will certainly be missed!
So to remember some classic Samberg, here is a video of him and Justin Timberlake singing about 3-ways with Lady Gaga.

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Justin Timberlake is going back to music and Kristen Wiig leaves SNL.
HIT: Phillip Phillips is the winner of American Idol!
After a record number of votes, Phillip Phillips WON American Idol! Not too shabby. We’re excited to hear his track “Home” on the radio — it’s got a little bit of Mumford in there, doesn’t it? And I know, Jessica Sanchez was way cool but it doesn’t even matter if you win these days. I mean, look an Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert.
MISS: Zac Efron got himself a pornstache

It’s been a slow news week and I’m tired of acknowledging Courtney Stodden’s existence, okay? What is this? My first whiskers? I know he’s just trying to show us how manly he is nowadays (condom dropping, bra unhooking, etc) and I’m fine with that. Everyone has to grow up. The mustache, though, is scraggly, patchy and reminds me of sad, prepubescent attempts at facial hair during Movember. Just go back to the scruff and all will be well.
HIT: Fun. covers Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”
From the Havard baseball team to Katy Perry, it seems like everyone’s covering the guilty pleasure of the year “Call Me Maybe.” The band Fun.’s acoustic version is addictive and well, fun. They’re also becoming some sort of cover band because we’ve already heard them perform “Somebody That I Used To Know.” If you need me, I’ll be dancing on the streets shamelessly while listening to both of them. Please feel free to join me.

Rihanna reportedly peeved off Saturday Night Live’s producers by calling in sick for the final dress rehearsal but the girl put on a good show regardless. The dress rehearsal is done live in front of a studio audience right before the actual show and it’s taken pretty seriously, so when she bailed and came in looking fine, it didn’t bode well.
Rihanna started with “Birthday Cake,” making some believe Chris Brown would make an unexpected cameo (he didn’t) but it soon turned into a medley of “Talk That Talk.” Rihanna was spotlighted in front of a giant spiderweb which was illuminated by green lasers.
Some people complained that there was an echo effect added to her microphone that made her voice sound shaky, but that went away with her follow-up performance of “Where Have You Been,” which had an Arabian-themed backdrop.
Host Eli Manning was a bit awkward but it was Kristen Wiig who ultimately stole the show with her impression of the Tan Mom. Whether or not Rihanna was sick, she put on a good performance, though we didn’t get to see her anticipated “Shy Ronnie” digital short.
Watch it here:

After hearing about tan mom Patricia Krentcil, who took her 5-year-old to a tanning booth, my faith in Snooki as a mom-to-be shot up. Comparatively, Snooki looks tame and even offered some wise words in her first piece of parenting advice:” That b***h is crazy, you are not supposed to take kids there. Everyone knows you are NOT supposed to take kids there,” she told Extra.
Now, “Tan Mom” is shooting back at Snooki, who she refers to as Snoopy. TMZ caught up with her and she calls the Jersey Shore star fake, fat and said “when this is all said and done I’d like to meet up with Snoopy.”
Next on her hit list will probably be Kristen Wiig, who did a worthy performance of her on Saturday Night Live. The sad part was, the makeup they used didn’t even make Wiig as tan as Krentcil. (Watch it after the jump)

Taylor Swift will accept an award from Michelle Obama for her charitable work (yea, no biggie) and I can’t help thinking about how the pop princess will accept the award.
Swift always seems genuinely shocked whenever she wins. Yes Taylor, we love you, accept it! I’m thinking her expression will be something like below:

But seriously, the 22-year-old will be honoured by the President’s wife at the Kids’ Choice Awards for her outstanding charitable work, including raising $750,000 for tornado victims with her Speak Now fundraiser. [Hold applause, I'm not done yet.] She also works with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the St. Jude Medical Center, Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross.
The Big Help Award is given to those who take actions to better the world and inspire kids to do the same. Previous winners include Justin Timberlake and Leonardo DiCaprio. You can get involved by going to the Big Help website.

The best sketch of Saturday Night Live last night was by far The Real Housewives of Disney. Although it was supposed to be Lindsay Lohan’s shining moment, Kristen Wiig stole the show as the alcohol-soaked Cinderella married to an uninterested Prince. The sketch included a broke Jasmine, snide Snow White and fame hungry Belle. If only it were real!
Still, Lohan didn’t bomb as some people suspected, though there was a sketch or two where she diligently glued her eyes to the cue cards. She also acknowledged her rowdy behaviour with more than one crack at being a jailbird. Watch the clip for your region below, two are provided:
We saw a lot of white at the Oscars tonight, but the shade wasn’t my favourite. It looked a little too bridal and boring to me. It also washed out some ladies on camera, like Rooney Mara. Long sleeves were another big look, which I personally loved. Some critics deemed it too “mature” but who cares about those rules anyway?
Ladies in colour, Michelle Williams and Emma Stone
My absolute favourite look of the night goes to Michelle Williams who wore a coral Louis Vuitton gown. It looked like a vibrant red on camera but this photo really brings out the coral. She paired it with a simple necklace and brooch. She can do no wrong!
Emma Stone wore a beautiful red haute couture dress by Giambattista Valli. I know there will be a bit of disagreement about the bow but I like that she’s fearless. There was some chatter that her dress was too similar to one of Nicole Kidman’s past dresses, but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful. Especially considering how many similar little black dresses we see on the carpet each year.
Young starlets, Sarah Hyland and Shailene Woodley and Rooney Mara
Sarah Hyland’s lilac dress was a little too prom for me. I like the cap sleeve on her right shoulder but found the cut to be a little plain. I originally liked Shailene Woodley’s Valentino dress when I first saw it, but it didn’t photograph as well as it looked on camera. Although some critics thought it wasn’t “age appropriate,” I like the fact that she has a very unique style for being so young. Instead of bare arms and a low cut she went for a dress that’s comparatively conservative. In comparison, Rooney Mara’s Givenchy white dress washed her out and was ill-fitting. She said she picked it out that morning and it showed!
Screen Gold, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman
No joke, I’ve always had a weird affinity for capes. They rock. And Gwyneth Paltrow, who wore Tom Ford, rocks for wearing one. Natalie Portman’s dress was a little too 50s sweetheart to me. We see her in the “cute” dress a lot and I wish she’d mix it up for a change. But still, the style makes her comfortable so I can’t blame her for going that route. My second best of the night goes to Angelina Jolie. She looked HOT with that slit in the leg and she actually cracked a smile.
Funny ladies, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy
My favourite of these ladies was Rose Byrne. Her haircut is the type of style that makes me chop off my hair and then immediately regret it. But it looks chic on her. Maya Rudolph looked great in a simple purple. In comparison, her SNL buddy Kristen Wiig was a little too beachy and casual for the night. If she pulled up her hair it would have made a huge difference. I heard some different points of view about Melissa McCarthy’s dress but I don’t think it’s structured enough and I’m not huge on the colour.
Best of the night? Sacha Baron Cohen
As the World celebrates mourns the end of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” Kris Jenner was the subject of conversation at last night’s SAG Awards.
I think we’re all a little tired of the Kardashian’s relentless fame-whoring, and Kristen Wiig expressed our frustrations without saying a word. In an interview on the red carpet with E! the SNL funny lady did a short rendition of her beloved Kris Jenner impression.
She says nothing and does very little acting but her statement is well received. It would be nice to see Kris Jenner let go of her dream to be the fourth Kardashian sister and focus on her most important role, as a mother. There’s still hope for Kylie and Kendall if Kris spends more time worrying about them and less about her own career.

If you were one of the millions of people have already seen “Bridesmaids” eleven times already since it came out last year, you might be fond of this new flick starring at least half of its cast.
Jennifer Westfeldt, who’s been dating “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm for over a decade now, wrote the ensemble comedy, “Friend With Kids”, about two single friends having a baby together. Hamm plays opposite SNL’s Kristen Wiig, as a sexy newlywed couple, while her former costars Maya Rudolph and Chris O’Dowd play a married couple with kids.
As you can see from the trailer, each actor has great chemistry with one another. Even “Transformers” starlet Megan Fox has a charming small role in the film.
“Friends With Kids” hits theatres March 9th.

Last night, Katy Perry fulfilled her teenage dream by hosting Saturday Night Live with her touring buddy Robyn as musical guest.
She’s been on a stampede of success over the past few weeks – named one of Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People of the Year, shot down a few more divorce and pregnancy rumours, won a few American Music Awards, sported a new haircut and oh, nominated for a handful of Grammy awards. Then the singer-turned-host dawned the seemingly haunting deed of hosting Saturday Night Live. At first, she seemed insanely nervous during her opening monologue as she impersonated the Rockefeller Christmas tree, but her sexual tension with Kristen Wiig brought it back around.
Earlier this week, Perry took a break from rehearsals to talk about the experience. “It’s fun on the outside, and on the inside it’s a lot more hard work than I can ever imagine. So it’s nerve wracking but I always love a challenge and this is something new, so it’s challenging but I’m up for it. And if I completely embarrass myself, I’ll just stick to music. I’ll fall back on that.”
And that’s exactly what happened. Perry appeared through at least nine sketches where she parodied Christina Aguilera, recent musical guest Florence Welch, Pippa Middleton and herself on a Finnish talk show. Her renditions of the above-mentioned music stars were flawless. But, be sure to check out her digital short with Andy Samberg, Matt Damon and Val Kilmer.
SNL-alum and Late Night star Jimmy Fallon hosts next weekend with musical guest, Michael Buble.
On the red carpet for the 61st Annual Emmy Awards, E! News kicked off a campaign to get Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.
“We would love to get Robert Pattinson,” said Seth Meyers. “How dare you tell me he’s the hot guy from Twilight, like I don’t already know! We’re actually hoping if he’s not available, at least his hair will come by and host.”
“Oh yeah, he’d be great,” said Kristen Wiig.
EW is reporting that, contrary to published reports, funny lady Maya Rudolph will not be returning to Saturday Night Live.
Rudolph told NBC execs just yesterday that she is dropping out of her eight season on the show. No official reason for her departure has been given, but a spokesperson for NBC says, “We wish Maya nothing but the best.”
Rudolph was also absent for a large part of last season while she was on maternity leave.
She will be best remembered for her impeccable impressions of Donatella Versace, Whitney Houston, and Beyonce.
Amy Poehler and Kristen Wiig are now the show’s only remaining female cast members. However, new players may join the show, which will feature the rest of the ’06-’07 cast.
