Jennifer Lawrence and Sarah Jessica Parker share a moment on the red carpet.
It can be tough to find the right outfit for the Met Gala. There’s so much pressure to be dressed the best and the competition is steep! Like I said in Part 1, this year’s punk theme might have been a bit too high concept for some people to wrap their heads around. So while some celebrities made some honest but failed attempts at going punk, some celebrities completely ignored the theme all together. So here are our choices for the ones who did not quite make the best dressed list and the ones who completely missed the mark all together.
The Blahs
There’s a lot of the classic Taylor Swift elements going on in the dress, but I find the black so jarring on Swift. Perhaps if this was in Swift’s go to white colour it would work better.
Blake Lively looks like she is channeling her inner Black Swan, but there’s nothing very punk about this.
I love Jennifer Lawrence but this just seems like a case where a celebrity was contractually obligated to wear this design. J. Law is the face of Miss Dior so it makes sense why this happened. It’s pretty but not amazing.
The Tumblr Actresses Without Teeth is basically why we won’t sleep tonight. Here’s who’ll be haunting our dreams:
1. Taylor Swift (she was in Valentine’s Day, okay?)

2. Ellen Degeneres, Katy Perry and Portia De Rossi

3. Kristen Stewart

4. Emma Watson
The internet can sometimes be a scary place. Animals act like humans, people eat things that they really shouldn’t be eaten and faces get swapped. Sometimes, the celebrities do look better as their romantic love interests. Other times, the result can be quite frightening.
Here are just some of the unsettling face swaps to float around the internet.

*When I mean 2012, I mean since August 1st because that is when I started doing this best dressed list. So let’s look back and celebrate those stylish celebs who have turned it out and made us want to jump them and rip the clothes off their back! So I’m going to count down the winners starting with #5!
#5: Solange Knowles
Beyoncé’s lil’ sis snags the fifth spot on our list because she has proven to be one of the most fashion forward celebs out there. She doesn’t win the top spot because she has only appeared on this list once, but there have been countless times where she has barely missed out on being on the list. In all honesty I would have Solange on the list every week but that is just borderline obsessive. So you’re welcome that I have managed to control myself in not turning this list into “What Solange Knowles is wearing this week.” Also I give Ms. Knowles snaps for turning out one of the best sartorial music videos of the year for her song “Losing You” it’s amazing!
Sidenote: check out big sis Beyoncé and brother-in-law Jay-Z who made the list as a couple, what a stylish family!
#4: Kiernan Shipka
The young Mad Men actress was not on my radar until I started writing this list. Because to be honest I don’t watch ‘Mad Men’ which I know is sacrilege but I just don’t have the time to invest in such a slow-burning show. I’ll probably get into the critically acclaimed show until after it ends and will hate myself for not getting into it sooner, this is what happened to me with ‘Friday Night Lights’. Anyways Shipka has blown me away with her age-appropriate and fun fashion which is why she has landed on this list three times.
Runner-up look: Shipka goes Mod in this look and it marks her first time on this list.
#3: Taylor Swift Read more…
Ciara
What she’s wearing: The R&B singer stepped out in a black Pamella Roland sequin long-sleeve gown at the ‘VH1 Divas’ concert in L.A.
Why we love it: Ciara is a sexy singer and she showed us why in this look. However she hardly bares any skin except for the sexy deep v-neck and the sheer panels along the side. This gown looks easy and effortless while still interesting enough to stand out on the red carpet. She keeps her accessorizing minimal with no jewellery and allows her dress to do all the sparkling.
Maybe next time Allison, Ciara is actually America’s Next Top Model!
Takeaway: Sequins and sparkles are not for everybody but choosing neutral colour sequins are more universal and a lot more accessible to those new to sequins. And as most neutral colour dresses you can get a lot more mileage out of them year round then something in a bolder colour.
Kelly Osbourne
What she’s wearing: Osbourne attended the ‘VH1 Divas’ concert in L.A. In a white Paule Ka mini dress, Charlotte Olympia zebra heels, and her signature lavender locks.
Why we love it: Osbourne stood out in white on the red carpet and she looked magnificent in this glam-retro styling. Since she opted for a Little White Dress Osbourne was able to have a lot more fun with her styling, so she opted for some funky zebra print and fur shoes and an Eddie Parker clutch with metallic accents. The LWD also helped make her lavender hair pop, which she styled in a 1950s retro bouffant.
Preach! Big is beautiful, even big hair!
Takeaway: When your hair colour is more than just ordinary why not show it off and make it the main attraction of your look. Choosing a busier outfit will detract from your hair so going more simpler will make it pop.
Cheryl Cole Read more…
Emma Stone
What she’s wearing: The Revlon spokesmodel appeared at the launch for the brand’s new ‘Nearly Naked’ makeup in London wearing a silk tricolour Daniel Vosovic dress.
Why we love it: First off, the dress is from Project Runway alum Daniel Vosovic, so it’s nice to see someone succeed after a stint on reality TV (too bad it’s not the case for most of the show’s contestants). The nude colour is appropriate for the ‘Nearly Naked’ event and the grey and charcoal colour-blocking helps stop Stone from being completely washed out. The dress nicely combines an airy looseness on top with a sexy and slimming pencil skirt silhouette on the bottom. The vibe of the dress refreshingly matches the fresh-faced Stone and she adds a pop of colour in her peach point-toe Rupert Sanderson heels.
Takeaway: Nude colours are on trend this season but can be quite tricky to match the right hue of nude to your skin tone. So unlike coverup makeup don’t try to match your nude to your skin unless you want to look like a big naked blob. Opt for a nude in the same colour family as your skin tone. So if you tend to be fairer skinned try a nude with hints of pink, olive-skinned try a nude with hints of peach, a little tanner find something with hints of caramel or copper, dark skin looks great with hues with hints of chocolate brown.
Jordin Sparks
What she’s wearing: The singer stepped out in a slinky red Nicole Miller Atelier dress to KIIS FM ‘Jingle Ball’ concert in L.A.
Why we love it: Sparks is va-va-voom in the dress! The red colour of the dress is not only festive but it also pops on the red carpet. The look is simple yet bold and the ruching adds some nice textural details to the dress. Sparks is also minimal with her accessorizing since it would only detract from her dress, she contrasts her bold red look with some Jimmy Choo black peep-toe pumps.
Takeaway: During the holiday season it can be tough to find the right festive look, so when in doubt opt for holiday colours of your liking in a nice rich hue or jewel tone. Choosing to wear a rich hue or jewel tone is all a part of sharing in the decadence the holiday season brings. Holiday looks can either be cozy or luxe depending on the event.

Kansas City Chiefs’ safety Eric Berry is absolutely terrified of horses. The poor guy flipped out when Warpaint, the team’s horse mascot trotted out during a recent game.
“I’ll wait ’til the horse pass,” Berry says in the clip below upon seeing the mascot. ”I don’t mess with horses, bro. He might come over here and throw a tantrum.”
Turns out, an irrational fear of horses is a real condition called equinophobia, which draws anxiety, nausea and crying when confronted with the animal.
He’s not the only one. Kristen Stewart discussed her fear of horses while filming Snow White and the Huntsman. According to Huffington Post, the fear stemmed from a riding injury she sustained as a kid.

If you were looking for some of the best looks from this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards @Britt_Mahaney has got you covered here. The final installment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2, had its L.A. premiere on Monday and the stars of the movie made a major red carpet impact. So let us all fangirl together and see some of the best looks from that night– and don’t worry non-Twilight fans we have some non-Twilight stars too.
Kristen Stewart
What she’s wearing: K-Stew stunned everybody in this strapless nude and sheer corseted Zuhair Murad dress at the Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere.
Why we love it: I’ve always been a fan of Stewart’s edgy and non-cutesy style, especially in the past year or so when she has seem to come into her own. The last time she donned Zuhair Murad she made it on this list, so this is clearly a match made in heaven. However with this look, Stewart proves that she can be the sexy bombshell that most people might have written her off for. This look is all woman and has come a long way since 2008 when she wore this tri-colour Balenciaga dress at the L.A. premiere for the first Twilight movie. The nude colour was a trend on the red carpet but she took it to the next level with the mix of sheer lace and cool corset, quite the risqué look but it all works.
100000000 times more gorgeous in person. Not possible? But it is. #Kstew tmblr.co/ZjAn3yXDBlY6
— Jaymes (@jaymes805) November 13, 2012
Takeaway: While perfect for the red carpet this dress wouldn’t work in everyday life. Overall this is a very sexy look so take inspiration from the dress and try to incorporate nude colours, sheer fabrics, and lace into your outfit. You’ll be on trend for the season.
Dakota Fanning
What she’s wearing: The elder Fanning not only stepped out in teal Elie Saab Couture gown on the Twilight red carpet but she also introduced a new brunette hairdo as well.
Why we love it: I had to do a second look to realize it was Dakota, which goes to show you the power of a new hair colour! Not only do I love the new darker locks but they go perfectly well with the teal colour of her dress. The asymmetrical dress has nice draping on the side but also has stunning embellished lace detail which continues to the back of the dress to give this dress some pop of sparkle.
Dakota fanning so beautiful last night at the premiere of Breaking Dawn part 2 with her hair brunette!! yfrog.com/15v1nuj
— William Capistran (@W_Capistran) November 14, 2012
Takeaway: When you want to give your new hairstyle a bigger impact you sometimes got to pair it with the right outfit, especially in the right colour. And Fanning does just that by matching her new brunette hair with a gorgeous teal colour.

The Men of Twilight: Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, and Jackson Rathbone
What they’re wearing: All four guys walked the red carpet looking very dapper in suits. Pattinson in emerald green woven Gucci suit, Lautner in a classic grey Z Zegna suit, Lutz in a black and midnight blue satin Roberto Cavalli suit, and Rathbone in an all navy look in Calvin Klein.
Why we love it: I’m being selfish by including the four looks onto the list, but I usually only include one male look onto the list so I don’t feel bad for having multiple actors share a spot. People tend to disregard suits as not being fashion forward, while yes suits can be classic and somewhat timeless, you can still have fun with them. Pattinson and Ratbone both look fantastic in these bold and fun colours, while Lautner goes for simple and minimal. Lutz stood out from the rest with his satin blue lapels, which reminded me of James Bond (a style icon for every male).
Takeaway: Have fun with your suits and take some fashion chances. Opt for classic like Lautner, bold colour like Pattinson, monochromatic like Rathbone, or fun with textures like Lutz.

Movie Clips TRAILERS re-edited scenes from the Twilight Saga into a parody of movie outtakes. While most bloopers (like The Avengers) are filled with laughter, practical jokes and flubbed lines, the hypothetical Twilight outtakes are just filled with awkward silences, bad acting and lovers’ quarrels.
The best fake outtakes go to Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, who show very little emotion towards each other yet can’t keep their hands off each other. It’s no wonder why Robert Pattinson storms off at the end. How is he supposed to work with such unprofessionals?

Before she fell hard for vampires, Kristen Stewart racked up tons of cute cameos and supporting film roles as a child actor. With The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn Part 2 coming out this Friday, we figured it’s about time to look at K-Stew’s evolution from child actress to Twilight superstar.
She has a showbiz family
Kristen’s no stranger to Hollywood, considering she was raised in L.A. She was born on April 9, 1990 to a TV producing dad and script supervising mom. At first, Kristen wanted to work behind the scenes like her parents, but we’re happy she ended up on screen.
She practiced being famous
With a huge smile and even bigger shades, Kristen couldn’t be more of a diva in this shot from when she was about three. She even rehearsed being a star: “I always practiced my autograph because I loved pens,” Kristen said. “I’d write my name on everything.”
First Hollywood movie
After a year of auditions, nine-year-old K-Stew made her big-budget movie debut in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas in 2000. Watch out for the the cutie tossing rings in the pink dress! A whole four seconds…

Didn’t anyone tell The Today Show it’s impolite to ask questions about private relationships? Interviewer Savannah Guthrie waited until the very end of her interview this morning to ask whether Kristen and Robert Pattinson are back together again. It was for the good of the fans, Guthrie argued.
The usually shy Stewart answered coyly, neither confirming no denying the rumours. ”Funny you mention that,” K-Stew said. “I’m just going to let people watch whatever little movie they would like to think our lives are and go for it. Keep ‘em guessing, I always say.”

I’m presuming The Today Show either had permission to ask the question, giving Stewart sufficient time to come up with a clever answer. Either that, or they were just ballsy enough to go there. Either way, Kristen has told us to think whatever we want to think so in my head her and RPatz are cuddling under Snuggies watching reruns of Dawson’s Creek as I write this.
Of course, Stewart was there to promote the next instalment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2.
Do you think they’re back together?

Kristen Stewart
What she’s wearing: K-Stew busted out a Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 romper to promote the final Twilight movie in Tokyo, Japan.
Why we love it: This look is fresh off the Paris Fashion Week and I couldn’t be more stoked that Stewart chose to wear this look. Stewart is finally coming into her own red carpet style and leaving her naysayers in the dust. The black and white checks is a cool design feature that feels refreshing due to the simplicity and large size of the pattern. Also it’s a romper which makes it all the more fun. The outfit looks very mod but still modern.
Takeaway: Designers are giving a fashion twist to plaids and checkered patterns so be on the lookout for some funkier versions of these everyday patterns. Also opting for a black and white look can be a very safe choice, so do black and white in a cool pattern that keeps the look modern.
Victoria Beckham
What she’s wearing: Posh Spice was spotted out and about in New York City in a Comme des Garçons floral print blouse and J Brand high-waist bell bottom jeans.
Why we love it: We all know that Ms. Beckham can pull off a skin-tight mini dress like no other, so it’s always nice to see her in pants, separates, and prints. Her floral blouse is in a nice brown that pops with bright reds and yellows. Also Beckham just oozes fashion that she manages to make these high-waisted bell bottom jeans high fashionable and not mom-jeany (sorry Anne Hathaway).
Takeaway: High-waisted jeans are not for everybody so if you are self-conscious about your derrière or your tummy you might want to stay away. However bell bottom or flare jeans are actually flattering to most body types so they are a safer bet when you want to change up the types of jeans you wear.

Things would have been totally awkward if Robert Pattinson found out Kristen Stewart cheated on him in the midst of filming Breaking Dawn. Imagine looking into your co-actor’s eyes during a love scene, but instead of serenading them with the cheesy script all you can think about is tripping them with a wad of tape or lawn mowering Rupert Sander’s balls.
Funny or Die put a lot of thought into what would have happened and unfortunately they don’t see Robert Pattinson as being a complete professional on set. Awkward turtle.
Watch it here:
Kristen Stewart’s life has already been under much media attention through her high profile relationship with Rob Pattinson and most recently, an affair with director Rupert Sanders.
Not wanting to add more to that, she reveals why she’s unwilling to join social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook in fear that people will find out where she is.
“Nowadays it’s harder because everyone is on Facebook and everyone knows where you are all the time, and everyone’s twittering,” she is quoted as saying in an extract from new e-book by Talia Soghomonian called “Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner – In Their Own Words.”
“Like I’m going to die because somebody is going to say where I am and somebody is going to kill me. Someone’s going to twitter my location and then it’s going to be like, boom.”
But while the actress is scared that social networking sites can affect her safety, she does admit that the communication possibilities on the webpages can be “really great.”
“I actually think too much of anything can be scary, but at the same time it’s also an opportunity,” she added. ”I mean mass communication is a good thing. It’s actually a really great thing, it’s just scary.”
You know what, Kristen? I think this is a valid fear to have. With the attention you’ve been getting lately, I don’t think you deserve to have any more stress. And kudos, for your self control. With technology booming these days, it’s as if people have their smartphones glued to their hands!
Blake Lively
What she’s wearing: The new Mrs. Ryan Reynolds was spotted on the set of Gossip Girl wearing a brown military W118 by Walter Baker trench coat and a burgundy and teal leopard print Theodora and Callum infinite scarf. (Not pictured are her sweatpants and Uggs.)
Why we love it: The best thing about fall are the jackets and this is one killer jacket! Military-inspired coats and tops are on-trend but this trench catches our eye for its cool crocodile skin embossing — a cool added detail to set it apart from other trench coats. Lively adds a pop of colour and print with her infinite scarf, a must-have accessory for the fall season.
Takeaway: There will be days when you’re schlepping around in your sweats but need to leave the house for quick minute and will need a quick fashion fix. Trench coats or other long jackets are perfect quick fixes to cover up outfits you would otherwise be embarrassed to be seen in out in public, like your PJs. Here Lively is most likely shooting a scene from the waist up, so you wouldn’t have seen her rocking sweats and Uggs since they’ll be out of the camera frame.
Taylor Swift
What she’s wearing: T-Swift was red hot on the red carpet with a red lace French Connection dress at the 2012 IHeartRadio Music Festival.
Why we love it: Lace details have been on trend for a while but the fire engine red colour takes this lace from sweet to sexy. While sheer at the sleeves and the yoke, this dress keeps it covered up and slightly conservative with the black lining. Recently Swift has been donning some retro-inspired looks and this look is pretty ’60s — not a surprise since she’s dating a Kennedy.
Takeaway: Wearing lace in a bright and bold colour modernizes the usually soft and sweet textile, and this bold red colour does just that. Notice how Swift wasn’t afraid to match her dress with a bold red lip either. Usually matching your lipstick to your dress is a no-no, but the red lip is not only classic but also makes a bold statement.
Kristen Stewart
What she’s wearing: No doubt the Twilight star wore head-to-toe Balenciaga to the Balenciaga 2013 Spring Fashion Show during Paris Fashion Week. The yellow biker jacket, the floral pants, and the leather boots are all Balenciaga! Considering she’s the face of their fragrance ‘Florabotanica,’ it’s no surprise.
Why we love it: This look is cool and edgy while being fashion forward. Stewart pops in the bright yellow biker jacket, which has a cool quilted detail on the sleeves (expect the quilted detail to be a major trend), which makes this jacket look like no other. She balances out the bright yellow with a black tee, but contrasts the colour blocking off the top with a black and white floral printed skinny pant. And then she completes the chic biker look with leather boots. Also she’s getting good mileage out of her black top and necklace, a good sign for any item in one’s wardrobe.
Takeaway: This look is a lesson in balance and contrast. The look manages to successfully balance a bold colour with neutral colours, and a print with a solid. If you attempt this look, stick within three colours: two neutral colours plus a bold colour, since black and white looks can sometimes seem blah, add a pop of colour to spice it up.

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Harry Styles reveals which One Direction bandmate he would date and Lindsay Lohan flees from another hit-and-run.
HIT: Harry Styles reveals who he would date from One Direction
Sorry Larry fans, but Harry wouldn’t date Louis Tomlinson! Instead, Harry would want to date Liam Payne! He recently told Top of the Pop magazine, “I think I’d go out with Liam because he’s a genuine, kind-hearted boy. Someone being genuine is really important to me. I think if you were his girlfriend, he would treat you really well.” 1) Must be heartbreaking for the other three 1D members and 2) D’aww….
MISS: Lindsay Lohan flees the scene after hit-and-run

It’s cool, Amanda Bynes, I wouldn’t take Lindsay’s twitter rant too seriously especially after she got arrested for leaving a hit-and-run. Lohan reportedly hit a male pedestrian while driving her Porsche in New York City. She was later charged with a misdemeanor for fleeing but was released soon after. We can easily solve the recent spike in celebrity car accidents by taking away both Bynes’ and Lohan’s license. See, problem solved.
HIT: Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart meet post-scandal

According to US Weekly sources, Rob and Kristen are hanging out again! You team Robert die-hards can suck it because TWILIGHT IS SAVED. I do have one question though: how did they manage to avoid being seen together from the paps? I swear the paparazzi follows them 24/7. Congratulations to the two to managing to do the impossible.
MISS: Chris Zylka broken-heartily tweets about break-up with Lucy Hale

Thanks to Twitter, Chris Zylka pretty much confirmed his break-up with Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale. Zylka tweeted, “”Don’t have a girlfriend. She decided she was too good.” He later apologized and said Hale was “one of the most talented people [he’s] ever know,’ and continued apologizing seven tweets later. No wonder Hale broke up with him. He’s kind of like Charlie on HBO Girls with his smothering love.
HIT: Rookie Mag tries to get President Barack Obama for their “Ask A Grown Man” video
“Ask a Grown Man” is just another brilliant idea from teen fashion maverick/Rookie Mag’s editor-in-chief/bitch-face teacher extraordinaire (She taught Jimmy Fallon last week), Tavi Gevinson. Manly stars such as Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, the Office writer and actor B.J. Novak and super producer Judd Apatow have already appeared on the web series where they give advice to teenage girls. Who else better to share their wisdom if not the Jay-Z and Beyoncé endorsed President of the United States? Go get him, Tavi. #Obama4grownman.
MISS: French tabloid ordered to turn in topless Kate Middleton photos

It must be a relief for Prince Harry to not be the only Royal caught without clothes on these days, but it’s becoming a bit of a legal nightmare for the royal family. The royal family’s lawyers recently won their suit against French tabloid, Closer, who now has to stop publishing and hand over the pictures of Kate sunbathing topless in the South of France. The photos were clearly a violation of privacy as Kate and Prince William were staying a secluded chateau. The Royals can’t seem to get a grip on the situation as a fifth publication plans to publish the photos by the end of this week. Poor Kate! She’s such a perfect example of grace, intelligence and beauty! They should just leave her alone!
Welcome to our new favourite Tumblr account called The Kawaii Project. What does kawaii mean exactly? It’s the quality of cuteness in Japanese culture. I thought all the devastation experienced by Robsten fans was over, but apparently the conspiracy theories are still going strong, especially now that Robert Pattinson has allegedly forgiven Kristen Stewart and rekindled their relationship.
Kristen admitted to cheating on RPatz with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders after incriminating photos surfaced of them in People. However, some fans are convinced the photos are bogus. YouTuber KristenPattinson513 is so sure the whole scandal was a conspiracy that they created a three-minute long video proving how one wiley photographer distorted the photos to make it look like they were engaged in momentary indiscretions. By considering the duo’s height, clothing and body positions, the editor determined the grainy shot is indeed a fake.
One little thing, K-Stew already admitted she cheated on RPatz in a public apology and I highly doubt anyone would fake an affair for attention when their career is already solid. Especially considering how private Kristen is. Just a thought.
Still, this video amazes me and I love that commenters are already planning to take comparison shots at the Los Angeles location to see if their heights were indeed photoshopped.

If you’re the major fashion fanatic we think you are, then you know this past week has been INSANE, what with New York Fashion Week, Fashion’s Night Out, the MTV Video Music Awards, the Toronto Film Festival and more. It’s fashion overload and we love it! If you want to check out some of the best looks from the MTV VMAs, take a look here. As for the rest, here we go!
Emma Watson
What she wore: The British actress showed up in this sleeveless black and blue-embroidered floral peplum Erdem dress at the TIFF premiere of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Why we love it: This look proves florals aren’t just for spring and summer and can work into the fall season as well. The embroidered floral detail pop off this white mini is on trend with its hints of cobalt — a major colour for the fall season. The lace yoke (the part of the dress at the collarbone and shoulders) is also on trend for the fall, so expect to see lace yokes in a lot of upcoming looks.
Takeaway: Invest in cobalt pieces for your wardrobe. This hue has been popular for a while now but is making a huge splash in the fall runway season. If you’re not a fan of showing cleavage, then lace or sheer yokes are a good fashion technique to keep covered while not looking too demure.
Nina Dobrev
What she wore: The Canadian actress wore a stunning red Reem Acra cocktail dress to the LA premiere of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Why we love it: The vibrant red-orange colour is a surefire way to stand out. Unlike her co-star Emma Watson’s dress at the TIFF premiere, this dress shows off Dobrev’s cleavage while still working in the embroidered lace detail in the sleeves. This dress manages to mix two trends, lace and cutouts, in a fun and stylish way.
Takeaway: If you’re not a fan of long-sleeve dresses (because let’s be honest sometimes long-sleeve dresses look older) using cutouts, lace, or other sheer fabrics keeps things youthful while getting to show some skin in a fun and strategic way.

I’m actually a bit disappointed with Kristen Stewart’s cover shoot with British Vogue. Throughout her career, Stewart has perfected the scowl we’ve come to love/hate in her movies and photo ops — it’s somewhere between Posh Spice’s mysterious glare and Tumblr’s sad meme.
Her cover for British Vogue is no exception. She stares at the camera in porcelain foundation the makeup artist surely pounded on her.
I don’t mean to sound cruel. I just think it would have been the perfect opportunity for Kristen and the magazine to say no matter what life throws at you, you can ultimately say “f*ck off, I’m going to go on with my life.”
They knew the cover to be scrutinized by the media (I mean, what are we doing here?) so I feel it’s a bit of a missed opportunity. Instead of strategically projecting Bella the vampire or Kristen the lost soul they could have sent a larger message by covering the magazine with her smiling. Just because she had a huge public fallout after cheating with Robert Pattinson doesn’t mean she’s a woman destroyed. It’s kind of like when your mom says “smile, don’t let them get to you.”
In the end, I suppose the photos somewhat express her character, which is a win. She told Vogue: “People expect it to be easy because there you are, out there, doing the thing that you want and making lots of money out of it. But, you know, I’m not that smooth. I can get clumsy around certain people. Like if I were to sit down and think, ‘OK, I’m really famous, how am I going to conduct myself in public?’ I wouldn’t know who that person would be!”
What do you think of the photos?
