Beyonce wowed the audience will a breathtaking version of the national anthem at Obama’s 2013 Inauguration today. Her hair was flawless; her face was flawless; her arrival with Jay-Z was flawless. Did I mention Lady B was flawless? She’s flawless. That belt gives me goosebumps every time and I’m nominating Beyonce for president.
A blonde Kelly Clarkson also performed “My Country Tis of Thee,” just before Beyonce took the stage.
Kids had an inauguration of their own this past weekend where Darren Criss, Naya Rivera, Amber Riley, Katy Perry, Usher, and others performed. Did you watch the inauguration? What did you think of her performance?

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Kelly Clarkson gets engaged and Ke$ha claims she was forced to sing her latest hit, “Die Young.”
HIT: Kelly Clarkson gets engaged
Clarkson is one of the few stars by way of reality show that can make me go, “aww, you’re so sweet!” She’s simply seems like instant best friend material and I don’t even listen to her music! Obviously, we’re over the moon when the ever-so-adorable Clarkson announced she was engaged to her boyfriend Brandon Blackstock on Saturday. Then our jaws dropped when she shared a photo of her gigantic yellow canary diamond engagement ring. Congrats, Kelly!
MISS: Ke$ha claims she didn’t write “Die Young”

On the heels of her song “Die Young” being pulled from airwaves in response to the Newtown elementary school shooting, Ke$ha claimed over Twitter, “I had my very own issue with ‘die young’ for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.” She later deleted the tweet and replaced it with calmer apology. Just for the record, Ke$ha is listed as one of the song’s writers, alongside fun.’s Nate Ruess. So, what does it feel like to have that songwriter’s check in the bank, Ke$ha?
HIT: Chris Pratt shows off his Zero Dark Thirty body

Chris Pratt plays the slubby, clueless Andy on Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreations. Pratt is also in the upcoming action drama Zero Dark Thirty and brought a phone selfie of himself onto Conan off his Seal team physique. Who knew that THIS was under all the flannel? I can totally see why Anna Ferris married you.
MISS: Gossip Girl is finally revealed and it’s…
To tide you over until Kelly Clarkson’s Greatest Hits — Chapter 1 album, she released her music video for “Catch My Breath.” The video is pretty plotless, serving instead as an homage to Clarkson’s beauty. The video features Clarkson singing in a long, dark gown, punctuated visuals of the elements.
The song is the lead single from her the forthcoming album, out on Nov. 16.

Okay, so the song definitely isn’t even anywhere near the same vicinity as Kelly Clarkson’s past hits (Miss Independent, anyone?), but “Catch my Breath” is damn likeable. The American Idol winner pretty much nails it with this song, because she perfectly captures where she is right now in her career. The single, which is supporting her upcoming Greatest Hits — Chapter 1 album, explains how Clarkson sometimes needs to take a chill pill and realize how far she’s come. I think that Clarkson totally deserves to give herself a pat on the back (or several) for all of the awesome work she’s done in the past. Let’s take a look at the singer’s career so far, shall we?
Five awesome moments in Kelly Clarkson’s career:
Cinematic gold

Who can forget this instant blockbuster hit, “From Justin to Kelly?” The film captures the awesome rapport between Clarkson and fellow American Idol contestant/dreamboat, Justin Guarini.
Breaking hearts
Remember the song, “Because of You?” If you don’t, I question your dedication to heartbreaking songs 101.
First winner of American Idol!

I wonder if Kelly knew that she’d be the first winner of the show that would become a cultural phenomenon.
To singers, Adele must be what Tom Wolfe is to writers or Andy Warhol was to artists. Put simply, Adele is f*cking awesome and it’s hard to top her. So it’s understandable why Kelly Clarkson was hesitant to cover “Someone Like You” during her tour. She didn’t have to worry because she pretty much killed it.
During every concert stop on her “Stronger” tour, Kelly Clarkson covers a fan request. In Brisbane, Australia, she took on the red-headed singer’s sob-worthy single. ”I’ve actually been avoiding this song,” she told the audience. “It’s been literally every fan request. And I’ve been avoiding it because Adele might be one of the best singers of all time. …So hopefully I do it justice and don’t suck.”
In the past, Clarkson has covered Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” and Florence’s “Shake It Out.” Though it’s not our fave out of all her covers so far, we’re still pretty impressed — especially when it picks up in the second half.
Watch it here:
Proving once again that she has some serious vocal chops, Kelly Clarkson decided to take a shot at covering a song that isn’t really within her genre. But by adding in a little Texas country twang, she definitely made Rihanna’s “We Found Love” sound like her own!
At Virginia Beach, V. A on Tuesday during a tour stop, the singer, (who obviously can’t get the song out of her head like the rest of us!) even decided to dedicate her cover to a fan.
“This is for Christoper Buew, Brewer, Christopher Brewer… I can’t say it right. Oh my goodness, say it five times fast,” says Clarkson, before proceeding to say Brewer’s last name five times. “See? I can’t do it. So I’m gonna sing this song that’s by Rihanna!”
I love Kelly for showing off what she can do by singing these fun little covers. From Lady Gaga to Rihanna, what should she cover next?
We’re obsessed with all the covers Kelly Clarkson does at her concerts. Each show, she accepts audience requests and then chooses a song to belt out. We recently saw her do unexpected renditions of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”
This time she took on Florence + the Machine’s “Shake It Out.” And it ROCKS. “If I screw this up, I’m sorry Florence and Youtube,” she said. We think she did Florence proud!! What do you think?
“Call Me Maybe (Cover)” — Kelly Clarkson
Every show, Kelly Clarkson lets a fan from the audience choose a song for her to sing, which is why we’ve been hearing her cover tracks like Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” and Britney Spears’ “Everytime.” This time, a few people in the audience asked her to cover Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” We’ve heard tons of renditions of this track but this simplified version works because we really get to focus on a catchy melody and great vocals.
“You’re Gonna Love This” — 3OH!3
Poor 3OH!3…they started the whole pop/rap/dance/auto tune/alcoholic/patterned pants craze and LMFAO and Kesha swooped right in and stole their thunder. The duo hasn’t given up though and in the name of all that is outrageous and obnoxious, I give you “You’re Gonna Love This,” off their newest album Omens. The music video for the track is pretty simple. They both try to win over the same girl, one-upping each other by throwing things and aiming really well. Unfortunately, the girl in the video is totally unimpressed and gets whisked away by a Tom Cruise look-a-like, leaving the boys to find some other fish in the sea.

Those who want to make a lifestyle change like Kelly Clarkson will be glad to know she doesn’t have any secret diet plans. All she needed to get back into shape was simply eat healthier.
“There’s no secret!” she says. “It’s just trying to eat a little better and work out a little more.”
Clarkson, who will be on a new show called Duets, reportedly saw how heavy she looked on TV. She was then inspired to get back into shape.
But keep in mind that Clarkson doesn’t care what size she is.
As she quips, “No matter what size I am, I love performing no matter how big or little I am! I feel good.”
I’m so proud of you, Kelly. We’re happy you’re taking on a healthy lifestyle, but we love it when you perform no matter what!

Kelly Clarkson seems like the appropriate singer to pay tribute to the late Etta James this weekend. After all, Clarkson made it through the “American Idol” auditions after singing Etta’s classic, “At Last”.
While performing at Radio City Music Hall in New York this weekend, Kelly wowed the crowd with her beautiful rendition of “I’d Rather Go Blind”, a song that Etta recorded way back in 1968.
“This isn’t ‘At Last’ because everyone really covers that and so I wanted to do my favorite, actually. My favorite song is ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’. So, this is for Etta,” Kelly told the audience.
Take a look at the video taken by a fan at the show this weekend.

NBC’s ‘The Voice’ has announced that they’ve enlisted more celebrity talent for their upcoming season – this will surely challenge those over at ‘American Idol’ the most watched show on television.
According to Rolling Stone, each of the show’s panelists will now be joined by two celebrity advisors from the music industry. Cee-Lo Green will be joined by other R&B heavyweights, Ne-Yo and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. Maroon 5′s frontman Adam Levine will have some help from Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke while mentor Christina Aguilera will be joined by Jewel and industry-icon, Lionel Richie.
“I trust the show more than I trust the record industry at this point,” said Levine about reality show singing contests, in a recent Reuters interview. “It is a very tired format, but in a way this is a very fresh way of doing it.”
Another mentor, country-star Blake Shelton is pulling in two reality-show veterans – his wife, Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. That’s right, Seacrest.
“I chose Miranda and Kelly because they both survived reality television shows,” Shelton told reporters at an annual gathering of TV critics. “I just wanted somebody who could talk to them about what they were going through.”
Executive producer and reality show innovator Mark Burnett admits that the show’s success hasn’t yet fulfilled its expectations. Last year’s winner Javier Colon (who?) released his album and peaked at no.134 on the Billboard 200 album chart. That doesn’t even come close to the success of “Idol” winners in the vein of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
It’s impossible to predict success in the ever-changing music industry and even making a name for yourself in the Billboard chart is a huge feat. Though this season could change everything, again.
The new season of ‘The Voice’ premieres February 5 on NBC.
During the live elimination episode of The X Factor last night, Kelly Clarkson graced the stage to perform her new single “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)”.
While her performance at the recent American Music Awards fell a little flat, she redeems herself in terms of outfit choice and stage presence. The X Factor appearance was a sure light show, from psychedelic images to flashing cartoons.
Just a day before she went on stage, she wrote on her WhoSay page about releasing a special album for iTunes soon.
“We also put a Christmas song on there as well. I can’t wait to make a Christmas album. It was such a tease
,” she wrote.
WIth just about everyone putting forward a holiday album or Christmas video, I won’t hold it against Kelly if she wants to jump on the bandwagon. Whatever stuffs her stockings, right?
Check out the video of her awesome performance posted below.
At an event like the American Music Awards, stars really want to stand out from one another. Some celebrities really clean up nicely and some just need to nicely fire their personal stylist. Here are the top 5 worst looks at the 2011 AMAz.
5. Kelly Clarkson has beautiful curves but by wearing such a bright sequined dress out of an 80′s movie, she looks much larger than she actually is.
4. Mary J. Blige is just reminding us what the definition of tacky is. Welcome to the jungle, baby.
3. Katy Perry is apparently colourblind and therefore looks like a walking ad for Pepto-Bismol.
2. Christina Aguilera may have the moves like Jagger but she has the wardrobe of a 19-year-old call girl. Next time, go up a size or two, Xtina!
1. Jennifer Lopex, Britney called. She wants her 2000 MTV Music Video Awards outfit back. Also, nobody’s into vajazzling anymore!
Apparently Kelly Clarkson attended the Chris Brown school of affection. Let’s be clear, there’s nothing funny about domestic violence and Ms. Clarkson was probably joking but I digress.
While she over-seas doing press Kelly Clarkson was asked about Adele. Bewildered by her overwhelming success and incredible talents, the American Idol created quite the stir today on the Internet. During an interview with the Guardian Kelly allegedly stated the following:
“I want to punch Adele in the face!” …. “She is just too good.”
Her sentiments were meant to be a compliment but didn’t exactly drive home a flattering message. This is the type of rational stalkers use to justify wanting to keep a celebrity locked in their closet indefinitely. Let’s hope “Miss Independent” doesn’t become “Miss Prohibited To Come Within 100 Meters.”
We all know singers crossover on to television at one point or another.
Kelly Clarkson, of American Idol fame, has been seen and heard everywhere lately to promote her new album Stronger. The other day the Idol champ took to her blog to mention her desire to appear on the NBC hit sitcom Parks & Recreation.
“It’s hilarious! I am a bad actress but maybe I could play a bad actress! I would nail that! I need to be in a scene with Ron Swanson. I love all of them but the trucker stache gets me every time,” she wrote.
The first time Kelly Clarkson got bit by the acting bug was in 2003 when her and Idol runner-up Justin whats-his-face-no-one-really-cared-about-him starred in the summer flop From Justin To Kelly. That movie tanked at the box office faster than Lindsay Lohan at a coke buffet. But now, it seems Kelly Clarkson is looking back in laughter, realizing she made a bad call. Good on her for owning up to her failures!
Kelly is a very sweet, bubbly girl and she would indeed perk up the NBC show. Lots of famous stars have made a cameo on Amy Phoeler’s show, including comedian Louis C.K. and basketball legend Detlef Schrempf. I’m sure the Parks and Rec department can make a little room for an American Idol contestant in the near future.
Chris Brown decided to give Kelly Rowland a lap dance on stage during his show in Atlanta.
Chris pulled Kelly up on stage and showed her some of his moves. Chris looked like he was having a good time, but Kelly looked a tad uncomfortable.
Do you think there might be some romance going on between Chris and Kelly.
Kelly Clarkson was interviewed by Access Hollywood last week where she compared dating to an American Idol audition.
“It’s like an ‘American Idol’ audition. The worst ones are the most confident… And the same thing goes for my dating life. The worst guys are the most confident with me.”
Ironically, Clarkson’s new track is called ”Mr. Know It All.” Coincidence?
Can you believe its been 10 years since Kelly Clarkson busted on the scene? And in that time she has released 4 albums and now a 5th is on the way.
“Stronger” will be coming out October 25th. Clarkson will also be hosting a live webchat August 30th on www.kellyclarkson.com to debut the first single of the album, “Mr. Know It All.”
Clarkson’s last album, “All I Ever Wanted,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and had the hits “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Already Gone.”
Carrie Underwood has officially become ‘American Idol’s’ top earner, surpassing season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson.
As of May 16, Underwood’s album sales topped 12,296,000 and she’s moved more than 18,482,000 digital tracks since winning season 4.
Clarkson is close, though, selling 10,600,000 albums and 15,900,000 digital tracks since 2002.
Underwood has also spent a healthy chunk of the last two years on the road, racking up more money from touring. While Clarkson’s international presence is stronger than Underwood’s, who plays mostly to U.S. and Canadian audiences, she’s devoted less time touring and more time working on her as yet unreleased fifth album.
To compare the two, Clarkson’s tour revenues since her win is around $32,000,000, while Underwood has pulled in twice that amount since 2006, around $66,000,000.
As for the rest of the idols, we have rocker Chris Daughtry in third place with 6,104,000 album sales, while Clay Aiken comes in at fourth with 4,990,000 and Fantasia at fifth with 2,809,000.
Clarkson and Underwood are definitely my favourite ‘Idol’ winners, so I’m glad they’re on top. Underwood is lucky she has the country music scene on her side – that genre generates so much money, it’s ridiculous.
I guess teaming up with a former reality TV star has its perks.
After collaborating with American Idol Season One winner Kelly Clarkson, country singer Jason Aldean’s fame has propelled him into a star in both Canada and the United States with their single “Don’t You Wanna Stay”.
The single, which was officially released in November 2010, was the #3 most added song at Hot A/C radio in the U.S, and is currently making waves with Canadian radio programmers.
Although Aldean hasn’t become a heavy-hitter in the music industry, he has become a force in the country music world since his debut in 2005. Recently, Billboard named him the #1 Male Country Artist of 2010, and he has sold over 4 million albums.
Check out the exclusive performance Clarkson and Aldean did on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in February.
