You all know you loved Mashup-Germany’s mix of the best songs of the year.
Now, DJ McFly is bringing you a Billboard Hot 100 mash-up that will blow you mind, and your eardrums!
Chicago native DJ McFly’s mix samples every song which reached the Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 in January, February and March of this year. This includes Katy Perry’s “Firework” and “On The Floor” by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull.
Not only does McFly mash-up the songs, but he also mixes up the video that’s really blowing up on YouTube. Have a listen, have a look. Cheers to a great year in music.
After going a month being covered head to toe in pink, Katy Perry’s taking on a different shade.
The “Teenage Dreams” singer traded in her ’50s pink ‘do for a blonde bob with lavender highlights. With this new hairstyle, Katy’s resembling a young Jenny McCarthy.
She not only showed off her new look but her still-husband Russell Brand. Many websites have been reporting of their quiet divorce but the star’s slamming those allegations. From the looks of these photos taken at the David Lynch Foundations’s Change Begins Within event over the weekend, the two couldn’t be happier.
Before she got all dollwed up for the Grammy nominations concert last night, the lady in pink took to Twitter to complain about all those divorce rumours.
Contrary to what most blogs and magazines say, Katy is not going to be divorcing from her husband of one year, Russell Brand.
As you can see from her tweet, Katy is NOT pregnant and NOT seperating from her comedian hubby. Given that they just got married last October, they shouldn’t be splitting so soon (unless you’re Kim Kardashian). While it feels like tis the season to be divorcing, I hope Katy and Russell stay together forever (fa la la la la la).
Barbara Walters always wraps up the year by announcing the top ten people that have fascinated her the most.
She just unveiled the top 9, according to ABC News.
Royal family member Pippa Middleton made the list. She certainly made heads turn during the Royal Wedding this summer.
Another Brit, Simon Cowell made the list, probably for his controversial roles as judges on popular talent shows. And maybe for finally joining the Twitterverse.
Then there’s the two actors who play gay parents on the hit show “Modern Family”, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet.
Captain of the New York Yankee, Derek Jeter also made the list. It’s probably under her contract to include at least one athlete every year.
Donal Trump trumped other business tycoons by appearing on Barbaras list. I bet he paid her a pretty penny for it.
Katy Perry also fascinated Barbara and the rest of the world with her lavish wedding to Russell Brand and all her number one hit singles off of “Teenage Dreams”.
Barbara also included the entire Kardashian family on the year-end list, hence the photo posted above. I think she misinteruperated “fascninating” for “annoying”, though.
The number one person who was the most fascinating person of 2011 will remain a mystery, until her special airs on ABC Wednesday December 14.
Although December hasn’t arrived, the search engine Bing (for those of you who don’t use Google) has unveiled it’s most searched celebrities of the year.
2011 was definitely the year of Bieber Fever as Justin comes in as the most searched person. Bing reports Kim Kardashian, who came in first last year, has now fallen in the number two spot. Jennifer Anniston is the third most searched celebrity this year.
Here is the full list from Bing:
1. Justin Bieber
2. Kim Kardashian
3. Jennifer Aniston
4. Lindsay Lohan
5. Jennifer Lopez
6. Britney Spears
7. Katy Perry
8. Megan Fox
9. Lady Gaga
10. Miley Cyrus
Having Lady Gaga on the bottom of the list is a little bit absurd. She’s had a stellar year of performances, controversies and awards. I expected her to reign at least higher than Megan Fox of all people.
It’s a bit surprising to see Jennifer Anniston beat out so many troubled headline-makers like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. But, I assume people were constantly curious of who Ms. Ex-Brad Pitt was dating next.
Justin Bieber appears the only male celeb on the list, while his girlfriend Selena Gomez is no where near.
She may have gone on the Ellen Show a few weeks ago saying she’d love to start a family with husband Russell Brand, but singer Katy Perry isn’t pregnant yet.
When told to clear up the rumours of whether or not she’d already with child, Katy Perry said she’s just eating too much.
“I still love drinking alcohol, so not yet. I like In-N-Out Burger and Taco Bell and if you want to make that pregnant that’s your problem,” she said, according to Huffington Post.
Katy Perry has such a big appatite these days, she even told fans at a concert that she doesn’t have a baby bump but rather, a “food baby”. Apparently the starlet ate too much pizza before performing in New York City.
I don’t blame Katy for having to stress time and time again about this matter. She’s only 27 and has her life ahead of her for baby-making. Right now, she’s still soaring high on the charts and she shouldn’t have to give that up necessarily. Having a baby is a serious thing, it’s not like owning a chia pet. When carrying a baby, you have to be 100% responsible at all times and right now, Katy’s only interested in being 50% responsible. I don’t blame her.
Fresh from her pepto-bismal inspired performance at the American Music Awards last night, Katy Perry has been confirmed as the host of the December 10th episode of Saturday Night Live.
Perry has spent the past year racking up hit singles from her album “Teenage Dream” and touring the world with her California Dreams tour. Swedish pop star Robyn, who opened up for many of California Dreams’ gigs, will be the episode’s musical guest.
Perry has dabled in comedy already, as she guest starred on on How I Met Your Mother and provided the voice for the Smurfs animated movie. Katy’s husband, British funnyman Russell Brand, hosted an episode of SNL back in February and is very likely to turn up in this episode.
It seems to be a recent trend, showing up to your best friend or significant other’s SNL show. From Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield to Jason Segel and Paul Rudd this past weekend, lots of hosts are getting a cameo for their close loved ones.
After her acoustic performance at the AMAs last night, model Heidi Klum presented Katy Perry a special award backstage.
Just Jarred says the award is for being the first female artist to have five number one singles from the same album. Way to go, Katy!
“Can I just say thank you so much for letting me be a chameleon this year?” Katy said during her speech, which got her a standing ovation. The award was both a surprise to Katy and those in the audience, because the award was never mentioned in the show’s description.
Normally, awards are given for Best Pop, Best Rock, Best Group and so on. No one had a clue and that’s probably why it was so fun to watch it all unfold. Katy’s genuine shock and delight is priceless.
At an event like the American Music Awards, stars really want to stand out from one another. Some celebrities really clean up nicely and some just need to nicely fire their personal stylist. Here are the top 5 worst looks at the 2011 AMAz.
5. Kelly Clarkson has beautiful curves but by wearing such a bright sequined dress out of an 80′s movie, she looks much larger than she actually is.
4. Mary J. Blige is just reminding us what the definition of tacky is. Welcome to the jungle, baby.
3. Katy Perry is apparently colourblind and therefore looks like a walking ad for Pepto-Bismol.
2. Christina Aguilera may have the moves like Jagger but she has the wardrobe of a 19-year-old call girl. Next time, go up a size or two, Xtina!
1. Jennifer Lopex, Britney called. She wants her 2000 MTV Music Video Awards outfit back. Also, nobody’s into vajazzling anymore!
Katy Perry’s on a roll with music videos. Today she premiered her sixth music video off her album Teenage Dreams.
“The One That Got Away” features an old Katy Perry (she must have spent hours in the make-up chair!) reflecting on her old love, played by Diego Luna. It’s similar to Rihanna’s video for “We Found Love”, in that it shows Katy and Diego’s relationship blossom but eventually diminish.
Katy does a good job in acting in this video. Maybe she was thinking about her husband Russell the whole time she was canoodling with Diego, who plays an arrogant artist. Katy also looks really believable as an elderly woman. She reminds me of that old lady in Titanic.
In the end of the heart-wrenching montage, a sample of “You Are My Sunshine” by the late country singer Johnny Cash plays out as old Katy Perry accepts her loss. An excellent choice of song, because in the song, Katy mentions having a relationship similar to Johnny and June Cash.
The video, directed by Canadian Floria Sigismundi, can be here.
Katy Perry was on the Ellen Show yesterday and she gushed about how much she wants to have kids with her husband, comedian Russell Brand.
“I think that’s one of the reasons you get married. Especially to the person that you marry. You think, that person is going to be a good partner, a good parent,” she told Ellen Degeneres. “If it doesn’t hurt the first time. I’ll keep popping them out.”
Of course, it will hurt, Katy! Judging from all her t.v. appearances and interviews, Katy’s bubbly personality and warm-heartedness would definitely make her a really great mom. I hope her fashion sense rubs off on her baby. I’d love to see them in matching outfits (if it’s a girl!).
Aside from talking about babies, the “Teenage Dream” singer told her audience she’ll be performing a free concert at the Staples Center in L.A. on November 23.
Katy said she rented out the centre herself and wants to give all her fans a free show to cap off her amazing California Dreams tour. This isn’t something that many platinum recording artists do for their fans, so Katy Perry fans must really be over the moon at this opportunity.
Even since repeatedly pestering that poor DJ to turn the record up in 2005, Robyn Rihanna Fenty has been a chart-topping powerhouse representative of Def Jam Records. With her collaborations dominating the charts as of late, it seems that the recipe to Billboard success is a Rihanna hook. After all, she has the most digital number-one hits with eleven and counting.
That’s more number-one’s than Stevie Wonder or Janet Jackson. That’s two away from Michael Jackson and nine away from the untouchable Beatles. Are we talking quantity, not quality? It’s up for debate. How does she compare to the Gaga’s, Perry’s and Beyonce’s?
Turn on the radio. Open a music magazine. And if they’re on a break from their teen-preganancy programming, watch MTV. From Maroon 5 to Eminem to Coldplay to Lonely Island, there is that familiar sultry croon of the official ambassador of youth and culture for Barbados. She is considerably the most-featured female singer of this millennium. She’s no Fitzgerald, or Goulding for that matter, but it’s either she has a remarkable talent or impeccable timing. Ok, maybe Jay-Z has a little something to do with it.
Going back to 2008, she was featured on two of the biggest songs of the year: Maroon 5′s “If I Ever See Your Face Again” and T.I.’s redemption-song “Live Your Life.” Two opposing ends of the musical spectrum that equally delivered as hits in their respective genres.
In recent weeks, her collaborations haven’t slowed down, they’ve been unescapable on the pop-charts. She duels with Nicki Minaj, harmonizes on Kanye’s “All of the Lights”and even trades verses with Chris Martin in Coldplay’s “Princess of China” In response to his appearance on “What’s My Name?”, Rihanna flourishes in the role of a wounded-love on the title track of Drake’s upcoming Take Care EP.
Her solo success should not be ignored. In Billboard’s 53-year-history, Rihanna is in a third-place tie with the legendary Whitney Houston for most chart-toppers, behind Mariah Carey and Madonna. That’s a fine line between jaw-dropping and head-scratching. She was also named Digital Song Artist of the Decade in 2009, passing Mr. West, Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
In a recent study, the most popular videos on YouTube are unsurprisingly, music videos that occupy an incredible 86% of the top 60 most-viewed. What’s even more mind-boggling is that a trifecta of pop-artists total a 25% of those 60 videos: Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Bieber impregnates the rest of the pack with 1.664 billion views. Mother Monster rolls in with 842 million views and Rihanna clocks in with 715 million views.
With her new album Talk That Talk on the horizon (due out November 21), critical pop-singles are expected to stampede the airwaves. She took to Twitter on Tuesday to confirm that her mentor would appear on the title track: “Yes sir! Jigga man is on the title track #TTT.” What a clubhouse that must be, with Kanye and Jay meeting their female counterparts of Beyonce and Rihanna for an afternoon picnic.
Hova and Ri-Ri previously collaborated on her mega-hit “Umbrella” and he featured her on that Blueprint 3 power-house single, “Run This Town.”
She’s definitely beating Chris Brown’s success to death.
Katy must be going trough Rihanna’s Idea Book because from what we can see in the trailer for The One That Got Away, it looks a lot like Rihanna’s We Found Love.
The music video appears to tell the story of a troubled relationship with a voiceover that fails at being poetic and instead ends up being corny. Isn’t Katy Perry happily married? Why is she sad, lonely and sulking in expensive dresses in all her music videos (see: Thinking of You).
This is Katy’s sixth single off her album Teenage Dream to get a music video. Her last video, T.G.I.F., was an original, quirky video and it was great to see the singer acting and looking silly while having fun. I have a feeling The One That Got Away is the complete opposite.
Watch the music video trailer below.
Happy birthday to Katy Perry! The wacky, colourful performer turns 27 today.
Since I Kissed a Girl made her a star, she’s never had a dull moment. And why would she, hen she’s constantly wearing crazy outfits – on stage and in real life. T-shirts and jeans are so passé for this Cali girl. Fine, fresh fierce, Katy keeps it on lock.
On her special day we want to salute Katy and thank her for keeping us entertained throughout the years. Let’s take a look at 5 outlandish outfits.
5. Cupcake bra from California Gurls music video.
4. Carousel dress as seen at the MTV Europe Music Awards
3. Yellow Cube Hat as seen at the MTV Awards
Katy Perry dons what appears to be a block of cheese on her head. Better to wear one than to cut one, right?
2. Dress with holes as seen at the MTV Awards
Katy Perry lets everyone know that even if she gets into a gun fight, she’ll still find a way to make it on time to perform at fancy award shows!
1. Half-man, half-woman costume as seen at the MTV Awards
Katy Perry wakes up some days not knowing which gender she is. “Why can’t I be both?!” she would ask her butler….
If you’ve got a bad case of the Mondays and want a little pep to your morning, nibble on some vodka gummy bears! Or not.
There’s been reports of high school students using the candy to get drunk according to a California school board. This dangerously delicious trend is surfacing all over North America.
“It’s kind of scary, because I like gummy bears, and I’m kind of scared because it’s something you have to really keep an eye on,” one student said in an interview.
While it’s understandable most parents and teachers want to prevent underage drinking, it’s cruel to forbid or ban one type of candy for the whole school.
Okay, we all know teens today love to drink and can do mean keg stands. But not every student has the intention of getting drunk before math class on these vodka bears. I’m sure Katy Perry’s gummy bear ring, seen above, is completely sober! Lay off the paranoia, folks, we’ve got bigger issues to deal with (you know, like learning to read and write!).
Although Katy Perry is madly in love with her husband Russell Brand, the 26 year old pop star told InStyle she is not ready for kids.
“Not yet,” she reveals. “I think if you’re married, it’s often in your future.”
However, she is not worried about how kids could impact her career.
“I want to have kids! I’m totally fine with saying that. I think some people are worried it’s going to ruin their career, but I want to live a full life. I don’t want to miss out on any experience. I want lots of children.”
Russell Brand wants his wife Katy Perry to return again to the UK X Factor next year. Perry performed live last year and wowed everyone with her amazing performance.
A source told The Mirror, “Katy knows Russell is a big fan of the programme so she really wants to get back on it.
“She’s determined to go all out with another show-stopping performance just like last year and Russell doesn’t want to miss out either.
“He’s determined to be there on the night to support Katy in person.”
We will see if Katy makes Russell’s wish come true.
How does Katy Perry fight insomnia? She uses Twitter.
TeenMusic reports Katy was having problems sleeping last night, and turned to her Twitter followers for help. She answered fans questions, which helped her fall asleep.
She wrote, “Oh boi! I have full insomnia! Shall we have a tweety chat? You ask Q’s I’ll give A’s if you like?”
After answering 40 questions, she was exhausted.
“Okay it’s 4am & I’m tweeting whilst eating flaming hot cheetos. I am losing my marbles. Thanks for the Q’s. Hopefully it was fun for u!!!”
Natalia Kills has been slowly murdering her way through the music industry by working with industry heavyweights (Will.i.am, Akon, LMFAO) and her debut album “Perfectionist” debuted on North American shelves this past Tuesday.
Born Natalia Keery-Fisher, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter was signed onto Interscope’s Cherrytree Records label in 2008, after the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am heard her “Wommanequin” EP. The demo was self-written and produced by Kills, showcasing talent that catapulted her into a promising direction that landed a feature on LMFAO’s single “Champagne Showers” and her debut EP.
Although she may be the best female-singer-you-haven’t-heard-of-yet, her single “Mirrors” has already cracked the top ten in Austria, Germany, Poland and the United States. A change of pace from her past-life as an actress.
Her sound is a pinch of Lady Gaga with a fiercer-punch of Kate Bush, and it has been labeled as ‘revenge-pop’, electropop and ‘synth-pop’, but she describes it as “pop with an opinion”. In other words, she delivers a much needed refreshing dose of attitude that the Christina’s and the Britney’s have faked.
“I’m a perfectionist. It’s the source of all my ambition, desire and drive. But, it’s also what destroys me sometimes.”
Her stage-name “Kills” defines that passion and mentality to commit herself entirely to her music. And as a singer-songwriter, that commitment to her art has drawn inspiration out of every aspect of her life.
“I wrote ["Free"] when I was broke and writing songs in my tiny apartment, trying to figure out how to pay the rent,” says Kills of penning her single, which she also notes as her favourite song to play live. “But, I was still happy. When I went out I felt fabulous and I wanted everyone to know that style is not dictated by how much money you have or where you shop. We should be free from our possessions and not let material things own us or effect our happiness.”
Kills has come a long way from that tiny apartment, going on tour with big names like Bruno Mars, Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas and will be supporting Katy Perry on her California Dreams Tour later this month.
When we spoke with Kills, the sudden passing of Amy Winehouse was fresh and she felt a strong connection to the pop-singer.
“I’ve always been a huge fan, and not just because I’m English. She’s truly one of the greats, and I relate to all other artists like myself who write about personal afflictions and deeper darker places. I know from experience that when you write about your true pain it has to be because you battle with it. We were lucky to have her, and at least she gets to escape her pain now.”
Her album “The Perfectionist” can be streamed on her website and is also available in stores and on iTunes now.
It’s an all star lineup joining to pay tribute to Britney Spears at the MTV VMAs.
Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Demi Lovato and Janet Jackson are just some of the female artists who have signed up. The performance will showcase many of Britney’s hits.
Lady Gaga will reportedly sing ‘Circus’, Katy Perry is lined up for ‘Oops I Did It Again’, while Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj will collaborate on ‘Gimme More’.
