It may sound like an odd combination, but it works unbelievably well!
The pop princess joined the infamous rock band on stage during a recent performance in Las Vegas and she held her own! With all the wigs and over the top outfits, it’s easy to forget that Katy is a truly amazing vocalist, and her contribution to “Beast of Burden” made a great song even better. After watching this video, I know one thing for sure: you should never underestimate the girl with the whipped cream bra.
I bet she woke up happy in Vegas this time around!
While being all manly in his wood working workshop, Parks and Recreation‘s Nick Offerman read tweets by some of our favourite female celebrities for Conan last night. He took tweets from the likes Amanda Bynes, Miley Cyrus, Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry. While some people might find the contrast between Offerman’s majestic beardedness and the mundane tweets jarring, it actually feels really natural too me. He’s all man of the woods and such while reading Carly Rae Jepsen’s tweet where she compares herself to Snow White. See? It all totally makes sense.
Beyoncé arrives fashionably late at this year’s Met Gala.
Fashion’s biggest red carpet took place this week as celebrities, models, and designers descended upon the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art ball. This year’s theme was punk in honour of their new exhibit Punk: Chaos to Couture. While that was a fun idea, not that many attendees were able to pull off the punk concept. It was kind of like watching an episode of Project Runway where the episode’s challenge was too far out there for some of the designers to wrap their head around. It indeed resulted in one of the craziest Met Gala red carpets ever with so many spikes and studs paired with outrageous hair and makeup! I kind of have a feeling that next year’s theme won’t be so high concept (your move, Anna Wintour)! So let’s check out who made the cut on our best dressed list. And check back for Part 2: The Blahs and the Oh No’s!
Best Dressed
Nina Dobrev can rock on stage and the red carpet in this look, a perfect combo for the gala’s theme.
Loving the studded detail on supermodel Cara Delevingne‘s gown.
Nicole Richie‘s white hair was so jaw dropping and totally badass! The dress might not be punk but the overall look is. Read more…
Maypole dancers surround the maypole with coloured ribbons on May Day, which is the first day of the month.
While some of you might be celebrating the beginning of May dancing to N’Sync’s “It’s Gonne Be Me” and if you don’t know why perhaps this will give you some sort of clue. Others around the world will be dancing to traditional folk music in celebration of May Day, a traditional European spring festival. So in honour of this lovely spring holiday, I’ll be giving you tips on rocking the floral trend that you can take with you well into the summer. And yeah I know what you’re thinking, florals for spring? How groundbreaking! But yes florals are actually a trend for 2013 for both women and men, so check it out!
Floral Crowns

Lana Del Rey, the Queen of the floral crown.
So if you missed out on Coachella, don’t fret because May Day is the perfect (and probably the most legitimate) reason for anyone to be wearing a floral crown. Floral crowns were spotted on the runways and magazine but hit the mainstream thanks to sultry singer Lana Del Rey. They became quite the phenomenon at Coachella and rightly overtook the Native American headdress (this should have never been a trend in the first place) as the hair accessory of choice for concertgoers. Don’t be surprised to see floral crowns at various music festivals this summer.

These poor girls were victims of a Jimmy Kimmel prank at this year’s Coachella.

Sadly, Coachella isn’t about the music anymore. The event has now become a place for optimal celebrity watching as fabulous people dressed in swimwear drink and listen to more fabulous people perform.
Since Coachella has become a fashion show for most media outlets,we decided we would jump on the bandwagon. While the likes of Darren Criss, Sophia Bush, and Lucy Hale looked casual and adorable at the music festival, some people opted for a more homeless hippie look than fun and casual swimwear/summer wear.
It’s such a shame when attractive people don’t dress well when they know their famous person status is bound to catch the public’s attention. People will find you, and WILL take a few pictures of you. Dress with caution, and please look twice in the mirror.
Still, if paparazzi are going to be at this event, take your two/three pictures then let the people enjoy the show please. Sorry Darren Criss. I’m with you on this one. This blows, but it’s the way it is.
Geez guys at least get my good side! And watch the concert!

Uh oh, photographer pals are takin pics of us at the violent femmes set! If you guys see pics of me on my phone, I was tweetin this!

HERE ARE THE FIVE WORST LOOKS AT COACHELLA SO FAR:
Kate Bosworth

A thick-looking vest paired with lots of black for a music festival? I don’t follow.
Katy Perry

I don’t really understand what Katy Perry is wearing. Why are there faces on her skirt?
Ed Westwick
The Tumblr Actresses Without Teeth is basically why we won’t sleep tonight. Here’s who’ll be haunting our dreams:
1. Taylor Swift (she was in Valentine’s Day, okay?)

2. Ellen Degeneres, Katy Perry and Portia De Rossi

3. Kristen Stewart

4. Emma Watson
When it comes to hip hop covers, often than not you’re left thinking “why would they even attempt covering THAT song!?” But then there are those that cause you to begin dancing around your room with excitement.
But what’s most surprising is when those covers are done by non-hip hop artists. I don’t know if it’s the initial shock of “oh my god, this actually sounds good,” or the weird juxtaposition of when the song is done in another genre entirely. The bottom line, though, is that they’re good and all we want to do is listen to them.
Here are 10 of the best hip hop covers from non-hip hop artists.
Ed Sheeran and Passenger — “No Diggity / Thrift Shop”
A pretty recent cover comes from music’s most soulful ginger, Ed Sheeran, who teamed up with Passenger’s Mike Rosenberg during a recent visit to Australian radio to give us an amazing mash up of Blackstreet’s 90′s hit “No Diggity” and Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop.”
Ed Sheeran — “Empire State of Mind”
Ed Sheeran makes another appearance on this list with his cover of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State” of Mind for BBC Radio 1. Ed can do no wrong, so it’s no surprise that this cover (like everything he does) is nothing short of perfection.

Ed Sheeran—”Pony”
Hailee Steinfeld
What she’s wearing: The young actress made the smart choice to wear a Chanel argyle cardigan, black leather skirt with a yellow Chanel clutch to the 2013 Spring/Summer Chanel Haute Couture show during Parish Fashion Week.
Why we love it: Steinfeld is newsboy chic in this Chanel look, making me want to rock a newsboy cap even though I can’t pull it off (I have a large heads and hats never fit! Woe is me!). The argyle cardigan is classic Chanel preppy-chic, while the black leather skirt adds some va-va-voom to the entire outfit. She works the yellow accent colour well with her choice of a bright yellow Chanel bag. Steinfeld finishes off her look with Laboutin pumps, where you get a hint of some bold red colour from the brand’s signature red bottom heels.
A snap with the Kaiser himself! From Hailee’s Instagram account.
Takeaway: Hats can be a great way to accessorize your entire look and can be very functional too as they keep your head warm. So whether its purely functional or fashion, don’t count out hats since they can make some major fashion statements. Plus figuring out how to do your hair can be such a pain, so hats are a great option when you’re having a bad hair day!
Sasha and Malia Obama
What they’re wearing: The Obama sisters brightly stood out at their father’s second-term Presidential Inauguration Ceremony. Sasha braved the cold in this periwinkle Kate Spade wool coat, while older sis Malia opted for a lavender J. Crew coat.
Why we love it: The bright bold colours were such a welcome sight to see in the sea of blah coats and jackets during the Inauguration ceremony. Plus it was cool to see the sisters match as neither sister stood out over the other. However each sister got to rock their own colour and each worked the monochromatic trend well from head to toe! Sasha had matching periwinkle knit scarf and knit gloves with charcoal tights (not pictured), while Malia worked the different shades of purple from her knit scarf, wool coat, and tights (not pictured). Plus I want to steal Malia’s dark azure leather gloves– gimme now!
Malia shows offs her fly moves– a good way to keep warm.
Takeaway: Coats come in an array of colours nowadays so you can actually have a lot of fun with them. Since coats can be quite expensive try shopping for coats in January when most stores are starting to switch out their Winter apparel to make room for their new Spring apparel. Some coats will be considerably priced down so it’s a good opportunity to snatch a jacket now when they are cheaper.

When Yoko Ono collides with Katy Perry’s hit song “Firework,” it’s suddenly considered art. I can’t tell if Yoko is dying or having an orgasm but the reaction was mixed on YouTube:
The addition of Perry’s “Firework” to Yoko’s strangling cry of death was actually edited in AFTER her performance on as a joke. Yoko’s vocal performance was completed back in 2010 for MoMA’s Soprano and Wish Tree.
Watch the parody here
I might not be the first person to point this out, but Katy Perry’s video for “The One That Got Away” is an instant reminder of Patti Smith’s memoir “Just Kids.” Like Patti Smith, Perry’s video shows a young woman falling hopelessly in love with an artist. While the video has always been both sad and beautiful, the director’s cut of the video was released this week. It’s like seven minutes of pure, extended heartbreak.
The director’s cut wasn’t a huge secret — it was shown right before advanced screenings of “My Week With Marilyn.” But now, it’s available for all to see and possibly shed many tears to.
Watch the video here:
Demi Lovato for Brow Enhancers
Why it would work: Have you seen this girl’s brows lately? Whatever The X-Factor host is doing is working for her because her brows suddenly look as thick and luscious as Lily Collins.
Tagline: ”For brows as thick as the Taman Negara jungle but as tame as Audrey Hepburn’s in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.”
Taylor Swift for You Belong With Donuts
Why it would work: An obvious choice considering how much she: 1. Tweets photos of cupcake parties. 2. Instagrams photos of pastries. 3. Includes food in her music videos.
Tagline: ”It’s a love story.”
Justin Bieber for Hipster Suspenders
Why it would work: Justin Bieber loves low-riding pants but when you’ve got a slew of fangirls following you around wanting to pinch the old toosh, it can be a problem.
Tagline: “My low-riding pants were verging on hoodlum-territory. With suspenders, they’re just hipster!”
Kesha for Cock Pop Vibrators

Why it would work: Kesha is dating a vibrator, didn’t you know? Since she’s so chummy with sex toys, why not represent them? She tweeted the above photo a couple months ago with the caption: “my new bf is doing an interview.”
Tagline: “Your love is my drug.”

Katy Perry — Obama
Every election there are always a few celebrities that love to endorse their chosen presidential candidate to the world, in an attempt to sway your vote. Take Katy Perry for instance, who literally wears her political leanings on her sleeve. Perry wore this “Forward” dress in support of Obama on Saturday, at a political rally in Milwaukee. “Forward” of course, is the slogan of Obama’s campaign.
Will Ferrell — Obama
Will Ferrell doesn’t necessarily care who you vote for (Obama… Obama), he just wants you to vote in this election. He’ll eat garbage, hair or underpants. He’ll even punch himself in the face. He wraps it up by encouraging one candidate in particular: ”Vote Obama! It’s a slam dunk!”
Mr. Burns — Romney
The Simpson’s resident Republican Mr. Burns put out a special message in support of Mitt Romney. Unfortunately his endorsement is probably unwanted considering he’s an antagonist on the show. Gotta love Fox ripping on Romney.
Chris Rock — Obama
Comedian Chris Rock targeted a special message to undecided voters of the caucasian variety on JimmyKimmelLive. “In times like these, you need a white president you can trust and that white president’s name is Barack Obama,” he says. The facts: for the first two thirds of his life he was known as Barry (such a white name apparently) and his parents were so white they had to wear sunglasses so they wouldn’t hurt each others eyes. Still don’t believe him? Obama is still whiter than Snooki.

I never thought I’d use the words “latex” and “Obama” in the same sentence, but here it goes. Katy Perry wore this latex dress to a recent Obama campaign rally — it’s kind of obvious who she’s voting for. The dress is designed to look like a voting ballot, with a massive black box beside President Obama’s name. I see what you did there.
The singer later tweeted a cute shout-out to the prez for helping celebrate her 28th birthday. I guess she was trying to celebrate in style.
Well, grab a box of tissues and your wallet because this video will inspire you. As part of Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars,” a benefit to raise money for people living with autism, Katy Perry was joined by a special guest. The incredibly talented young girl named Jodi DiPiazza gave me chills as she and Katy harmonized on her track “Firework.” A beautiful duet that prompted me to personally donate. If this video doesn’t move you, you’re dead inside.
Since Nick Offerman is one of the sexiest comedians out there, we’re pretty stoked that the dude is stripping for charity. That means he’s sexy, funny AND generous. Triple threat right there.
In this teaser, he shows you a little bit of skin. But if you want to see nipples you’re going to have to get the tally to $1000. All the money is going to New York Collaborates for Autism. The clip is in anticipation of Night of Too Many Stars, airing Oct. 21 on Comedy Central.
Offerman is one of the many stars involved. You’ll also see Katy Perry, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Seth Rogen, Jimmy Kimmel and Anderson Cooper.
Watch it here:
Barack Obama did a duet with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for his latest baracksdubs single. The two nominees took on Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold.” The two have been really big in the music circuit lately — just yesterday we saw them do an epic rap battle with each other!
In the past, Obama has been dubbed over Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Do you prefer them rapping against each other or singing together?

Spoiler!! Katy Perry planned her Halloween costume early this year. The casual purple hoodie comprises the wardrobe element but once she gets a short brown wig, fast food (as a prop) and a wing woman to act as Selena Gomez, it’ll all come together.
Lena Dunham
Never Say Never (to attending a Justin Bieber concert even if you have the soul of a fat goth)
— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) October 4, 2012
See? Take is from Lena Dunham (because she’s a genius) that Justin Bieber isn’t just for young and sprite teen girls (and Katy Perry) who all keep a poster of him on their ceiling. There’s a little Justin Bieber in everyone — even the black-cape-wearing, tattooed, wannabe goth who lives next door.

Ever since we heard Ed Sheeran’s folksly cover of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” we’ve been dying for him to serenade us with his sweet, sweet voice again. And Ellen always gets the luck, doesn’t she? The ginger-haired singer performed “Grade 8″ on the talk show for a select group of lucky audience members, basically telling each lady in the audience that their body is a ball point pen and their mind is his new best friend. Needless to say, they all went home and broke up with their boyfriends, professing to hunt down Ed Sheeran to MAKE HIM COMMIT.

There’s something different about Snooki in this photo… I guess motherhood means you just don’t have time to put on that extra layer of spider black mascara and giant falsies.
With all the songs floating around these days, it’s inevitable that a couple of them will sound similar — whether the resemblance is intentional or not. If you’ve noticed any songs that sound alike, we want to know. Share them with us in the comments!
One Direction versus The Clash
The boy band just released a music video for their fun pop single “Live While We’re Young,” however, Clash fans weren’t too happy about the track’s uncanny resemblance to “Should I Stay Or Should I Go.” Fans of the punk classic are lashing out on Twitter. Though the majority of the messages are pretty angry there are a couple gems: @GavanCasey said “One Direction’s new song sounds like what I imagine Satan’s tribute to The Clash would sound like, but slightly more melodic.” Even if it does have a slight resemblance, we’re still loving 1D’s version. It will be on their upcoming album Take Me Home on Nov. 12.
Lady Gaga versus Madonna
Madonna famously started a feud with Lady Gaga when she claimed the 26-year-old singer was trying to imitate her career. At a few MDNA concerts Madonna has merged Gaga’s “Born This Way” with her 1989 classic “Express Yourself,” implying that Gaga was paying homage. A few days ago in Atlantic City, the Material Girl dedicated her track “Masterpiece” to Gaga, saying: ”I’m gonna dedicate this next song to Lady Gaga. ‘Cause you wanna know something? I love her. I love her. I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery…”

Collective Cadenza took us on a musical tour of New York City today with their newest video experiment. The group performed songs from our favourite artists based on whatever street sign they were standing in front of. And damn, NYC streets sure as hell make a good soundtrack.
Music seems like a great way to pay tribute to NYC, especially considering they shot it on Sept. 11. They guys played Katy on “Perry,” Kanye on “West,” Santigold on “Gold,” and Jay-Z on “Jay” (obvs). On top of that, they played some of our older faves, including Pearl Jam, The Police and The Beach Boys.
This is the same group that brought us The Human Jukebox and The History of Wooing Women. Check out their video below and the playlist after the jump.
