She may not be on daytime television anymore, but Oprah Winfrey continues to show us why she was the reigning Queen of the prolific talk show format on Oprah’s Next Chapter.
In her latest not-Oprah-Winfrey-Show special, the big O (stop it with your dirty minds) managed to crack open Lance Armstrong. The disgraced cycling star readily confessed to all the doping allegations that have been shoveled on him for almost a decade.
Armstrong isn’t the only star to have confessed to all the years of lies and debauchery on Oprah’s couch (or non-couch for those still watching post-”retired” Oprah party). For some reason, Oprah was the go-to-person for celebrities who finally wanted to escape from their emotional burden. To be fair, Oprah is no Jay Leno; she doesn’t let her guests off that easily. But they could’ve gone to Barbara Walters or Peter Mansbridge (if they were Canadian) for some tough love.
Maybe the source of all of Oprah’s truth-pulling abilities come from her kind eyes and warm voice. Seriously, would you be able to lie to this face?

This also happens to be the woman who has given away millions of dollars of free gifts, cars (YOU GET A CAR! YOU GET A CAR! YOU GET A CAR!), trips to Australia and makeovers. Not to mention, the lady has been running her own network of charities for years. If that doesn’t give you enough reasons to break down in front of Oprah and purge yourself of all the lies and deceit you wouldn’t tell your own priest. When you think about it in that way, it kind of sounds like Oprah is God.
In any case, here are just a few of the celebrities that have fallen to possibly holier than thou power of Ms. Oprah Winfrey.
1. Rihanna

Last August, the Babe from Barbados confessed to Oprah that Chris Brown was the love of her life. It was the basically the Earth-shattering confession that no one wanted to hear considering Brown beat her face to a pulp right before the 2009 Grammys. Rihanna most likely felt at ease confessing to Oprah as she apparently had no opinion on the controversial re-pairing. Are we taking note, J-School undergrads?
2. Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise’s now tragic relationship with Katie Holmes will forever be defined by the moment Cruise lost it on Oprah’s couch. You could tell he was so bursting with love due to his new relationship but it took Oprah to unlatch the crazy that was in him and would forever change the star. Think about it. Pre-couch jumping incident, Cruise was the most bankable action star. But after he took that leap of faith on Oprah’s stage, he suddenly became this controlling, Scientology nut job. Cruises’ now recuperating public figure can only be attributed to the nice stories his co-stars have been spreading. Wrapping up a scene to get Bill Hader onto a plane to see his family? The ultimate “aww” inducing story.

Katie Holmes doesn’t want her six-year-old daughter Suri to get into Scientology, which is what led her to leave Tom Cruise.
“Katie just couldn’t take Tom and his whole Scientology worship anymore. She got sick and tired of being controlled not only by Tom but by the bizarre belief system of Scientology. She does not want Suri to be a Scientologist,” said a source to HollywoodLife.
Katie, now 33, didn’t mind his religious beliefs because she was reportedly so blinded by 49-year-old Tom’s charms at the beginning of their relationship
“When Katie first met Tom, she was really naive and smitten with him. But now that she is older and has more confidence, she is no longer willing to sacrifice her well-being and the well-being of her daughter. This divorce has been a long time coming. No one in their circles are surprised,” another source said.
While it’s never a happy occasion to see a couple break up, good for Kate! She should never do something she isn’t comfortable with…especially when it deals with a mysterious religion like Scientology.
And God forbid, a six-year-old shouldn’t be forced to believe in something at that age!
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce after five years of marriage.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” says Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe to People. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
Cruise’s rep on the other hand, said: ”Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.”
The couple, who have been together since 2005, were very public with their relationship. Having been married since November 2006, Cruise and Holmes are also parents to six-year-old Suri.
This was Holmes’ first marriage and the third for Cruise, who was previously married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children.
I hate to see any couple break up. But in Hollywood unfortunately, the result seems to be inevitable.
Six seasons later, the Slutty Pumpkin of Ted’s dreams on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother has been unmasked, it is none other then Mrs. Tom Cruise herself: Katie Holmes, reports NY Magazine.
On the show’s second season, Ted Moseby rifles through potential love interests like a trigger happy Romeo. One of the ladies was a seemingly fictional Slutty Pumpkin that Ted had met at a roof top Halloween party, but then lost touch with. Could this possibly be the long-awaited Mother? Unlikely, as he has been constantly referring to her as “Slutty” to his children.
Craig Thomas, the show’s co-creator, is psyched: “Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classly named character in our show’s history,” he says, adding that the role was “literally six seasons in the making.”
Holmes has an interesting career spanning from Batman’s lover to First Lady Jackie Kennedy, from Dawson’s Creek to Adam Sandler’s wife.
This is going to be legendary.
Katie Holmes is letting her 18-year-old stepdaughter, Isabella Cruise, apprentice at the actress’s fashion line called ‘Holmes & Yang,’ E Online reports.
Tom Cruise, Katie’s husband and Isabella’s father, shared his excitement for Isabella last week at a tribute dinner in his honor in L.A.
“Kate’s designing and [Isabella] is just working her way up,” Cruise said.
“She’s an artist, Bella, so it’s really great that she gets to work with it,” said Cruise. “She’s loving it.”
While Katie and son Connor were on hand to watch Tom receive the Humanitarian Award that night at the Beverly Wilshire, Bella was on her way back from the Big Apple to begin her apprenticeship.
Well, I’m jealous. Wouldn’t it be nice to be the child of a famous person who can help you with whatever career you want? I always thought little Suri would be the fashionista of the house, but looks like Isabella is well on her way to being a new designer. Good luck!
While the eight-part mini-series has yet to premier on the ReelzChannel, critics have given nothing to brag about when it comes to Katie Holmes’ part in the serious as Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, reports Perez Hilton.
According to Perez, “the Hollywood Reporter…critic wrote that the mini-series on the whole was “dull” and “unwatchable”, along with saying it was very hard to step away from the fact that you were watching Katie Holmes play a character.”
The critic went on to say, “You think, ‘That’s Katie Holmes.’ Or, ‘That’s Katie Holmes having the damndest time with Jackie’s accent.’ You are never transported somewhere else by the character because the real-life subjects are so distinctive in your mind.” Aw Katie, we still love you anyway!
It seems that the Jackie-accent was a common dislike among critics, as critic Ramin Setoodeh from CBS’s Early Show said it ”doesn’t really have the gravitas to pull off the role…And the accent, it’s a little silly — for eight hours, it’s a long time to be, you know, watching her play this character in the way that she does.”
“Casting Holmes, whom Mitchell called a Jackie lookalike, ‘sort of added this tabloid element to the entire production,’ Setoodeh observed,” reads the CBS article. “’Every time Katie Holmes would come out in a Jackie Kennedy outfit, all the tabloids would run pictures of it. And then, it sort of became a little bit of a punch line. It looked like she was playing dress-up. And on-screen, she doesn’t really have — it’s a very difficult thing to play a real person, a real, living person that we all know. But she doesn’t really have the gravitas to pull off the role. And the accent, it’s a little silly — for eight hours, it’s a long time to be, you know, watching her play this character in the way that she does.’”
As well, Perez reports that Variety magazine noted she “looked the part,” but “that’s about all” she brought to the series. Don’t worry, Katie, maybe you’ll be able to redeem yourself among the critics in your upcoming movie, Jack and Jill. And if all else fails, just remember that not THAT many people read critic reviews…right?
Are you planning on watching Katie in the Kennedy mini-series this weekend?
Many celebrities spent the weekend in South Beach for the Super Bowl, reports E! News. The CAA held an exclusive party Saturday night at the W hotel. Attendees included Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as well as Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez.
Carrie Underwood, who sang the national anthem at Sunday’s game, was also in attendance, as were Jessica Alba, Adrien Grenier and Derek Jeter.
Director Michael Bay hosted a Big Give, Big Game party for charity at his mansion that same night. CW couples Ed Westwick and Jessica Szhor and AnnaLynne McCord and Kellan Lutz were spotted there.
Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, donated $122,000 to Scientology groups in 2008, despite the fact that they deny being members of the religion, reports Perez Hilton.
The Smiths own private school in Southern California, The New Village Leadership Academy, which recently underwent criticism for using Scientology teaching methods. Eyebrows were raised when the “non-Scientologists” replaced the school’s headmaster with another who had completed Scientology classes.
Katie Holmes’ performance on So You Think You Can Dance has not received much praise, according to E! Online. The actress performed an homage to Judy Garland choreographed by Tyce Diorio Thursday night on the reality show.
“I am f***ing INSULTED, Katie Holmes how dare you!,” Shanna Moakler wrote on Twitter. “I didn’t just grow up on musicals, I lived and breathed them, Oklahoma, Easter Parade, Family Band, don’t touch my legends! You’re not worthy.”
Canadian heartthrob Joshua Jackson has reportedly reunited with lost love Katie Holmes.
The “Dawson’s Creek” stars had an emotional moment when Jackson visited Holmes at her Broadway show.
“It was really sweet, he just turned up unexpectedly with a bunch of flowers and said: ‘Hello stranger,’” claims a source for the UK Daily Mail. “Katie was shocked, but so happy to see him. It was a wonderful surprise. She gave him such a big hug.”
Jackson is said to be a steadying force for Holmes, as her life becomes more and more of a paparazzi circus. He is currently in a long-term relationship with “Troy” actress Diane Kruger.
Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes threw an over-the-top house warming party at their $35 million Beverly Hills estate.
The couple hosted the bash for more than 500 guests over the weekend. The pair and their daughter, Suri , recently moved into the 10,000 square foot home with seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
Celebrities who attended the event include Reese Witherspoon and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal, Kimora Lee Simmons, Eva Longoria, Prince, Sean Combs, Kirstie Alley and Oprah Winfrey. Cruise’s mother and sister were also in attendance.
Tents have been set up in the backyard for days and an army of valets were on sight, as were eight police officers to direct the stream of limousines that arrived.
Cruise and Holmes purchased their luxurious home last year.
Tom Cruise does not want Victoria Beckham to discuss diets with his wife Katie Holmes.
The “Mission Impossible” actor has asked the former Spice Girls star to remain quiet about diet and food, because of concerns that Holmes was getting too thin. “Tom was firm but polite. He said that, although he understood Victoria thought she was only trying to help Katie to lose weight after Suri’s birth, he didn’t want her swapping any more diet tips with Katie in future,” said a source close to Cruise.
Beckham is known for her slender figure and is doing the best she can to refrain from discussing food whenever the she is with Holmes.
“She hasn’t mentioned food and diet once around Katie since then. And when they’ve been out for meals together, she’s made a real effort not to comment on what anyone’s eating, and to try to order more food herself – even if she doesn’t touch it once it’s on her plate.”
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have a “Petit” bone to pick.
According to reports, the couple is suing the owner of Petit Tresor, a baby boutique in L.A., for feeding tabloids lies about their spending habits on Suri.
The couple’s attorney sent a cease-and-desist threat to Samantha Winch, owner of the high-end baby boutique, after bogus shopping details that Holmes and Cruise spent between $350,000 and $400,000 in their stores were given to “Life & Style” magazine.
The letter accuses the company of spreading rumours about the famous couple “for the purpose of enhancing [the store's] image and obtaining a commercial advantage.”
“Petite Tresor is trying to get publicity for themselves by telling the press that celebrities are shopping in their store when they’re not,” says a rep for Cruise.
Katie Holmes is set to hit the Broadway stage for the first time.
Beginning this fall, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum will star in a production of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons,” alongside Tony winner John Lithgow and Oscar winner Dianne Wiest.
The play, first performed on Broadway in 1947, is based on a true story and centres around a successful businessman (to be played by Lithgow) who knowingly supplied the military with defective airplane parts during World War II, with tragic consequences.
Holmes will play the daughter of the man’s business partner.
The venue and dates for the fall production have not yet been announced.
Holmes, 29, was last seen on the big screen in this year’s “Mad Money.” The comedy caper, which also starred Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah, fared poorly at the box office.
In an unusual form of promotion, the stars of “Mad Money” will appear on a California Lottery scratch ticket late this month.
Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton star as Federal Reserve employees who plot to nab all the money that is set to be destroyed.
The photo on the ticket show the women being joyously rained down on with money.
The “Mad Money” prizes range from $10 to $1,000 or prize packs for the film, which opens Janurary 18.
Following in the cross trainers of celebs like Oprah Winfrey and P.Diddy, Katie Holmes ran the annual New York City Marathon on Sunday.
Mrs. Tom Cruise sported a dark FDNY baseball cap and purple tank top throughout the 26.2 mile race and labored to the finish line with 40,000 other long-distance runners.
About 15 miles in, the former Dawson’s Creek star got encouragement from her superstar husband, who quickly kissed her as she ran by.
Holmes finished the race in five hours and 29 minutes, exactly an hour behind Oprah’s time.
Martin Lel of Kenya was the first runner across the tape in Central Park, finishing just over two hours and nine minutes.
Cruise, the couple’s daughter, Suri, his mother and her parents greeted a tired Holmes as she crossed the finish line in Central Park.
Among the other notable names competing this year was cycling legend Lance Armstrong.
Tom Cruise was spotted arriving in Rome today, likely there to finalize details of his upcoming wedding with actress Katie Holmes.
Reuters reports that an airport official saw the “Mission: Impossible” star getting into a black limo with bodyguards in tow.
Cruise and Holmes are reportedly set to wed in Italy this coming weekend. They are said to have picked the 15th century Odescalchi Castle on Lake Bracciano, just outside of Rome, as the site of the ceremony.
Earlier reports said that the wedding was to take place at George Clooney’s estate on Lake Como. Either way, the stage seems set for the first underwater celebrity wedding.

Actresses Kate Bosworth and Lindsay Lohan were photographed leaving a Tommy Hilfiger party together last night.
The new BFFs were only a couple of many celebs who were invited to the exclusive Tommy party which featured a performance by Lenny Kravitz.
Bosworth also sported new boyfriend, British model James Rousseau, on her arm as she left the party. She broke up with actor and long-time boyfriend Orlando Bloom last month.
Tommy Hilfiger hosted the party to celebrate the opening of his new store in Paris, France.

Reports are circulating that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes plan to wed next month at George Clooney’s Italian estate.
Though specifics are unconfirmed at this point, a local newspaper from Como, Italy — near the Clooney villa in Laglio — has reported that details of the ceremony were leaked to them. They say that the union will take place November 23, and that the couple has purchased one of Clooney’s three properties to use as a home base in Europe.
According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, the couple will be wed by the local mayor in a civil union. The paper reports that if the wedding goes ahead as planned, the couple will likely also have services performed by the Catholic church and the Church of Scientology.
Cruise reportedly wants the Catholic ceremony to satisfy Holmes’ parents, who raised her in the religion before she converted to Scientology in recent years.
It looks like the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may actually happen as Holmes has been spotted picking out a wedding dress.
Holmes was out shopping this week in Paris with pal Victoria Beckham. The pair also took in a number of fashion shows during fashion week there.
Holmes told People, “I already have my dress.”
“I’ve been shopping all day. They have beautiful things for babies here.”
Holmes and Cruise are also celebrating the birth of their daughter, Suri, and are expected to wed within the next couple months.
