Actress Katherine Heigl got her big break on t.v. with “Grey’s Anatomy” and on the big screen with “Knocked Up”. Now, she has her big viral break with this Funny or Die video.

Stars like John Stamos and Will Farrell have made videos for the popular website. Even Lindsay Lohan managed to charm the pants off of everyone with an eHarmony profile spoof.

In her first viral vid, Katherine Heigl launches her new campaign in the hopes of saving the world, one testicle at a time. It’s a tongue and cheek performance that essentially encourages everyone to neuter their dogs.

Katherine was so proud of the video, she even tweeted, “So excited y’all are digging #ihateballs and the @funnyordie video. Very grateful for everyone who helped make it happen! Hope it helps!”

The campaign she’s promoting in the video is actually real. Ihateballs.com focuses on getting pets spayed and neutered to control the pet population. You can even buy the shirt she and her dog wear in the video. Check it out below.

What a night that was. The American Music Awards last night blew everyone’s socks off with killer performances by LMFAO and incredible wins by Adele and Taylor Swift, who, I should add, was not interrupted by Kanye this time. So, all in all, it was a great night in showbiz. The best part of any award ceremony is the red carpet. Hours before the ceremony begins, stars sparkle up and put on their best pair of Spanx while we ogle at their suits and dresses. Here’s my pick for the five best dressed girls of the AMAs.

5. Jenny McCarthy goes for a bold, jewel tone shade of purple that makes her stand out among all those in white and black.

4. Katherine Heigl goes for a revealing black evening gown that looks very sophisticated.

3. Selena Gomez looks all grown up in a silver dress with a very high slit.

2. Jennifer Morrison goes for the boho chic look in a flowy off-white gown.

1. Taylor Swift was by far the fashion gem of the night, literally! Her strapless sequined dress is appropriate for her age and the green earings add a nice touch.

Grey’s Anatomy’s Dr. Izzie Stevens isn’t the only one who is MIA. According to People.com, Katherine Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie, hasn’t been seen at work. On the show, Dr. Izzie Stevens has been missing from Seattle Grace Hospital, and apparently the 31-year-old actress hasn’t shown up to set.

Heigl was scheduled to return to set on March 1, after her three months of maternity leave but “she was not there,” said a close source. There has been speculation of Heigl leaving the show for a while now, as there have been many reports of drama between her and Grey’s Anatomy. Everything from Heigl being called a diva, to her being unhappy with salary have all been issues dealt with. However, now it is being speculated that the actress is off the show for good to focus on her film career, even after six years.

ABC isn’t commenting, but Entertainment Weekly reported that Shonda Rhimes, the show’s creator, has agreed to release Heigl from her contact. It is now in the hands of ABC Studios and the star’s rep to sort it all out.

President of ABC Entertainment Stephen McPherson called Grey’s Anatomy star  Katherine Heigl’s recent appearance on Late Night with David Letterman “unfortunate,” says Perez Hilton.

“Our first day back was Wednesday,” Heigl told Letterman when she appeared on his show July 20, “And it was – I’m going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them – a 17-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean.”

“I’m guessing if you’re working 17 hours, that means you’re not dead,” responded the host, attempting to reveal the fate of Heigl’s character, Izzie Stevens, who is currently battling cancer.

“What if, however, Dave, I was in a bed in a coma for 17 hours?,” replied the actress. “They could do that to me.”

“People are going to behave in the way they choose to behave,” McPherson commented about the incident. “There are so many people who work so hard on Grey’s, and all of our shows, without any notoriety, and those are the ones I’d be concerned about, people who feel like they’re being criticized or looked down upon.”

I was shocked to discover that three women wrote this screenplay. (Or that, more accurately, two women wrote and a third re-wrote it.)  I do not harbour any illusions of women being the “fairer” sex. I recognize that women are just as likely (or unlikely) to enjoy dick, fart and sex jokes as men. However, some idealistic part of me still believed a woman was above writing something like The Ugly Truth.

I more or less saw this movie three months ago, under the title Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Like that Matthew McConaughey vehicle, The Ugly Truth revels in juvenile stereotypes about men and women, with Gerard Butler’s Howard Stern-like cretin more or less encouraging control freak Katherine Heigl to pick up a man the same way McConaughey’s cad kept picking up women: by playing to their baser instincts.

Romantic comedies live or die based on two things: their central gimmick, and the viewer’s willingness to buy into said gimmick, which is often affected by their own experience with romance. My experience has left me angry at anything which frames the difference between the sexes as a battle between Martians and Venusians, since by my observation both men and women are essentially attracted to the same things (confidence, a sense of mystery and, if they’re popular, someone they like who apparently doesn’t care about them) and would like a partner who will essentially act as a parent, protecting them (women) or feeding them (men). Both like sex, but since most men will sleep with almost anyone who approaches them, women usually hold the power.

Anyway. Follow the rules like Katherine Heigl does in The Ugly Truth, and you may eventually land your dream man. Of course, once he discovers you’re not his dream woman but have only been acting like her, he’ll walk away. The Ugly Truth knows this – but fear not, ladies, because that Howard Stern type will, like the real Howard Stern, ultimately reveal that his shtick is all an act and in fact he’s a kind, caring human being whose heart was simply hardened by too many nasty women.

Come to think of it, maybe it isn’t hard to believe this film was written by women after all.

I realize that romantic comedies are all about wish fulfillment, that a large percentage of the audience agrees with the movie’s take on men and women, and that said audience likes it that way. I will not be shocked if The Ugly Truth is a hit; at the screening I attended, there was plenty of laughter, including my own, but (for me, at least) it was soon followed by uncomfortable squirming. Not because the movie was depicting the ugly truth, but because it was perpetuating ugly stereotypes. To its credit, I bought almost every decision the characters made until the 80-minute mark (the movie is 97 minutes long). The exception is a When Harry Met Sally sequence involving a pair of vibrating panties; it’s not immediately clear why Heigl decides to wear them (though it sort of makes sense in retrospect), nor is it clear why she leaves them on.

Reader, I did not want to see this movie. For Katherine Heigl to appear in this sexist garbage after publicly berating Judd Apatow for Knocked Up’s depiction of women (nevermind that Knocked Up’s message was to grow the fuck up, and that the main women were depicted as grown up already) struck me as the definition of hypocrisy. Not to mention it rips off one of the genre’s few genuine modern classics.

You, like the audience I saw it with, may feel differently about the subject, and if so you are welcome to it.

KATHERINE WHO?

Heigl. Katherine Heigl. She’s a massive star, haven’t you heard? She’s such a HUGE star that she doesn’t need an Emmy. She’s so amazingly talented and headed for the A-List- wait, is she already on the A-list? Anyway, she’s so talented, she can blatantly disrespect the writers of the hit TV show that made her famous and expect this to help her career. She’s just so awesome.

Before I go on, since it’s about to get a little negative and rage-filled up in here, I must point out that so far on The Prerogative, I’ve expressed my love for boy bands, Batman and High School Musical and I’ve been relatively nice to all those mentioned in the aforementioned posts (minus calling Kevin Jonas ugly but that was necessary). Now, the gloves are off.

Izzie Stevens must die.

If you’re a Grey’s Anatomy fan or if you just love tracking celebrity controversies, you’ve probably already heard that Katherine Heigl’s future on TV’s best medical drama is uncertain. And that’s just what the ungrateful B-list “actress” wanted. First, she (and her crackpot team of publicists) made sure her withdrawal from the Emmy race was made public. Heigl released a statement saying she was not “given the materials” to merit a nomination for the most prestigious award in television. Now this backhanded comment clearly directed at the writers of G.A is apparently a deliberate attempt by Heigl to get fired so she can leave her contract and move on to being a monster movie star.

Hmm.. let’s look at her track record. Knocked Up. Great movie. Heigl really had nothing to do with that though, if they had cast Kate Hudson or any other Hot Blonde in the role, the movie would have been just as hilarious. Next, 27 Dresses. Decent romantic comedy. Made a good amount of money at the box office. Completely forgettable.

So really, the only thing Heigl has been “great” at is her role as Dr. Izobel Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy. The role got her an Emmy and the cover of Vanity Fair. The role got her the TWO movies she’s starred in. Ingrate. See Jessica Biel got it right. If you want off a show, do something that’s not going to piss off your bosses (or loyal fans) Remember when Biel wanted off 7th Heaven? And granted, who could blame her? But all Biel did was pose half-naked in Maxim. The classy thing to do. Heigl could learn a thing or two from Jessica. She also got the date-your-way-onto-the-A-list memo that Heigl apparently missed out on. Heigl’s married to Josh No One Cares, who’s supposedly a singer of some sort. Again, no one really cares. Jessica Biel is dating Justin Freakin Timberlake and now the roles are pouring in. Her publicists should win an Emmy. Alas, Heigl is sure to end up like Mischa Barton who also reportedly asked to be killed off The O.C so she could move forward in her career. You’re probably wondering Mischa Who? My point, exactly.

Back to Katherine “Ingrate” Heigl.

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes recently commented on the whole ordeal. “I didn’t feel insulted,” Rhimes told reporters. “I have a wonderful working relationship with Katherine, and Izzy is one of my favorite characters. So, [when I heard her comment] it was surprising.” (Thanks to Usmagazine.com for the quote)

Rhimes also added, “But Katie is an outspoken person and I think we all knew that already.

My translation: “Katie has a big mouth and I’m going to kill the bitch off as soon as I feel it’s right for the show.”

Bloggers, various sites and basically everyone in entertainment have been buzzing with suggestions as to how Izzie Stevens should ultimately depart Seattle Grace. My favourite was New York Magazine’s call for Izzie to be struck by a meteor, pulled apart by a pack of lions right in the middle of the ER to simply explode for no reason. Meteors, lions AND a big bang. I like it.

Any Grey’s fan will tell you that season 4 was a little disappointing in terms of the Meredith-Derek plotline or the random lesbianism of Callie and Dr. Hawn but the fact is: NO ONE CARES ABOUT IZZIE or Katherine “Ingrate” Heigl. She’s not even the biggest star on her own show (Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh) so get over yourself, Ingrate.

EW.com, by far my favourite entertainment site around (besides andPOP of course), just posted (literally hours ago) a blog by Mark Harris in which he defends Heigl, hailing her brave honestly and her courage to be intelligently herself in a business which is trying to make her like everyone else. Uh, no offense Mark, but Heigl’s comments don’t represent her inherent normalcy or any semblance of bravery.

IT WAS A PR MOVE – A bold, blatent and calculated move by her publicists to attempt to take Hiegl from TV’s pretty-faced doctor to big-screen bombshell. Part of me wants the Grey’s writers to keep her on the show as long as possible, write her the WORST lines they can think of and give her plenty of loves scenes with someone super ugly. That’ll show her.

Actress Katherine Heigl has taken herself out of the running for this year’s 60th Annual Emmy Awards.

Heigl who plays Izzie, on the hit show “Grey’s Anatomy” said that she didn’t feel that her character got the kind of material that warranted an Emmy nomination.

Heigl won an Emmy last year for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

“I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials.” Said Heigl to the Los Angeles Times Gold Derby blog.

The nominations for this years Emmy’s will be announced June 17th.

Katherine Heigl has topped off her Emmy winning year with a lavish wedding to musician Josh Kelley.

The couple tied the knot on Sunday in Park City, Utah in front of a small group of friends and family including Heigl’s cast mates Sandra Oh, T.R. Knight, and former Grey’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh.

According to E! News, Knight told People magazine that the 30-minute ceremony was “incredible and beautiful.”

Heigl and Kelley met while shooting the singer’s music video for “Only You,” as Heigl was cast as his love interest. Kelley proposed a year later and the couple doesn’t plan on slowing down before extending their family.

“I’m super excited to have a family,” Heigl said. “I’ve always wanted a family, a large family. [We'll wait] like, a year.”
