Trend: tweed jackets
Need a quick way to dress up a t-shirt and jeans? Take some inspiration from one of Chanel’s most iconic pieces with your very own tweed jacket. Thankfully you won’t have to drop thousands of dollars for the original Chanel version as more accessible brands are churning out their own models. These jackets are sleek and full of personality when dressed up with cute brooches. The heavier tweed fabric also makes it the perfect piece for the transitional weather as it’ll keep you warm as the sun goes down.

Trend: Nude nails

Stay in touch with the changing fall colours and try your hand at nude nails. Nude nails are more subdued than the bright ombré nails you’ve probably been rocking all summer. To get the perfect colour, try looking for a beige hue that matches your skin colour. Like always, don’t forget to use a base coat to prevent your nails from turning yellow.

WTF: Loose knitted half ski masks

Most runway shows aim for at least a touch of theatrics. While I appreciate every bit of it, I just hope that some of the out-of-the-box looks don’t turn into trends. Take for example these Alexander Wang half ski masks from the Fall 2012 collection. Shown last February, I think it’s supposed to be a chic twist on the ski mask but the wind would go right through making it the most useless winter accessory.
Man, we sure hope so. I mean if the Kardashians and JWOWW can easily transition to the world of fashion, why can’t Karl Lagerfeld’s cat?
It seems as though his fluffy, white feline known as Choupette, might have a forthcoming clothing line with online retailer Net-a-Porter.
Two promos were released this week, including a behind the scenes look at Choupette’s day, from her POV. The cat directs a photoshoot, offering sartorial advice on heel selection and schmoozing the model until he ultimately finds his way to Karl, who gives him a big old smooch.
The video was actually created to celebrate the new Karl for Karl Lagerfeld collection available online, but it does raise the question: When will Choupette make her design debut? The socialite already has quite a following, sharing her daily musings on Twitter. Read more…
In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Dane Cook jokes about the Aurora shooting and Zac Efron looks good in the Paperboy trailer.
HIT: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

The Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) directed spectacle was AMAZING. While there were some questionable moments (like Sargent Pepper mingling with the Industrial revolution crowd), everything else was fantastic. The Queen jumped out of a helicopter with Daniel Craig, Mary Poppinses brought down the evil Lord Voldemort, an appearance from my queen J.K. Rowling, the music through the ages bit, Paul McCartney, CORGIS… the list goes on. It was just amazing.
MISS: Dane Cook continues to not be funny with a terrible Aurora shooting joke

The “comedian” somehow thought it was a good idea to make a joke about the Dark Knight screening in L.A. a week after the incident. “The Batman movie is so bad,” said Cook, “had the killing spree not occurred, the people inside of the theater would have been begging for someone to shoot them.” He’s since apologized after the internet raged on him, and called it a “bad judgement call.” Three things: One, it was a bad judgement call for whoever gave you stage time. Two, this is the most insensitive joke I think I’ve ever heard. Comedy can be used to talk about hard issues but this didn’t even attempt to do that. Three, did Cook watch Dark Knight Rises? EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS SO GOOD. Much better than Employee of the Month.

Kristen Stewart looks GORG on the July cover of Vanity Fair. She’s one of the more awkward members of Young Hollywood but jeez, guys, she’s just a regular person and I definitely appreciate that she doesn’t fit the archetype. Give her a break.
K-Stew got to chill with Karl Lagerfeld AND photographer Mario Testino at the shoot in Paris like it’s no big deal. ”It was the first time I ever had an actual conversation with him. He’s incredibly sweet. It felt like such an important moment in my life,” she said about meeting Lagerfeld. “It was very cool.”
Some of the couture looks are jaw-droppingly beautiful though I’d be afraid to walk around, lest it get a scuff mark.
Stewart, who’s currently starring in Snow White and the Huntsman also revealed to VF how she was a total tomboy when she was younger.
“Look at a picture of me before I was 15. I am a boy,” Stewart said. “I wore my brother’s clothes, dude! Not like I cared that much, but I remember being made fun of because I wasn’t wearing Juicy jeans.”

Adele’s gracing the cover of Vogue‘s March issue, just in time for her comeback. She’s looking gorgeous, though a little slim, do you think it’s a Photoshop job?
The photo comes less than a week after she lashed back at Karl Lagerfeld for calling her too fat. Adele’s never bowed to Hollywood pressure before, so we don’t think she would now. Granted, the singer, who won six awards at the Grammys last night, lost weight since her throat surgery. Still , fans are slamming the airbrushed cover, insisting she looks dramatically thinner and that they love her just as she is.
What do you think of it?
Natalia discusses what’s new with Pharrell Williams and her thoughts on Karl Lagerfeld’s mean comments towards Adele’s weight. She also shows a roster of animals behaving like humans — driving cars, throwing birthday parties, reading books — and, wait until you see the new size of coffee available at Starbucks! We have the hilarious video from the gang at College Humor to share with you all.

Meet the new face of Chanel: Selma Blair. The 33-year-old actress will be photographed by Chanel?s chief designer, Karl Lagerfeld, for a series of print ads for the label?s sunglass collection, according to ananova.com
Blair is already a fan of the couture designer, and she may have been a natural choice. In January 2004, she married Ahmet Zappa, the son of Frank Zappa. Lagerfeld designed her wedding dress.
Blair said that she feels comfortable being photographed by Lagerfeld. ?With Karl, he’s capturing something that’s more – my personal flaws, the way I am as a girl, not a model,” she said, according to ananova.
Blair is known for her movie roles in Legally Blond, Cruel Intentions and The Sweetest Thing. Her newest project is Purple Violets, also starring Ed Burns and Debra Messing.
The couture ads starring the brunette will be displayed next year.
