Looks like Karina Smirnoff is Going to Have a “Situation” on Upcoming Season of DWTS

Popeater is reporting that “Jersey Shore” star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has been paired with dancer Karina Smirnoff for his upcoming appearance on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Smirnoff spilled the beans yesterday on the VMA white carpet, revealing that she’s already met the man behind the abs. When asked what she thought of Sorrentino, Karina had nothing but nice things to say about him. “[He’s] very interesting!” she said. “Definitely a unique special person. He’s witty, he’s sharp. We have our hands full with each other.”

Rehearsals for the other dancing pairs started about three weeks ago, but Karina had to wait for the taping of Jersey Shore’s third season to wrap before joining her partner on the “DWTS” dance floor.

“I’m excited to start and to see if he has any rhythm, if he can dance all together,” Smirnoff added. Trust us, Karina, we’re excited to see it too. The Situation may be the king of the fistpump, but can he handle an old-fashioned foxtrot? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Dancing With the Stars dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff were seen arguing loudly backstage before their performance at the 61st Annual Emmy Awards. Perez Hilton reports Chmerkovskiy was angry with his former fiancee for taking too long to do her hair and make-up.

“They were going at it, screaming at each other,” revealed an eyewitness.

Season nine of Dancing With the Stars premieres on ABC on Sept. 21. Smirnoff will be dancing with singer Aaron Carter, while Chmerkovskiy will be paired with actress Debi Mazar.

Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff End Relationship

On-and-off-screen couple Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff, both from “Dancing with the Stars”, have officially called it quits.

“Karina has parted ways with her two-year relationship with Mario Lopez,” says Smirnoff’s publicist, Melissa Berger. “The relationship wasn’t heading in the right direction.”

In return, Lopez issued this statement:

“Karina and I have the utmost respect for each other,” he said. “She is a phenomenal and talented woman. I support her always and feel blessed to have her in my life.”

Although the duo was photographed together on several occasions, the pair never publicly acknowledged the romance until media outlets claimed the relationship was on the rocks.

“Mario and I are fine. Everything’s good,” Smirnoff then told E! News. Added Lopez: “It’s all good.”
