“It’s Wednesday, Wednesday, gotta get down on Wednesay…” Nope, it just doesn’t work the same way. Oh well!
Rebecca Black has done the unthinkable – according to Gossip Cop, Black’s awesome*cough* music video for “Friday,” has officially become the most disliked video on YouTube in the site’s history, surpassing Justin Bieber’s “Baby” music video’s 1.16 million “dislikes”, with 1.17 million. Congrats, Rebecca, you officially have more haters than Justin Bieber! Now that’s an accomplishment.
However, Bieber still beats black in the fan department, with his 500 million views trumping Black’s mere 64 million.
Apparently, though, none of this is stopping Black from getting a recording contract of her own. Perez Hilton reported that while on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this past Thursday, Ms. Black expressed how “overwhelmed by the sudden burst of attention” her and her daughter are, so Seacrest hooked the singer up with Debra Baum, a manager from DB Entertainment.
Just because she’s signed doesn’t mean that she will be able to sing any better…although I will give the girl credit, her two-second rendition of the American national anthem on Good Morning America was not terrible! She might not be Christina Aguilera, but it didn’t make my ears bleed. That’s a start, right?
Check out Black singing the national anthem here, and be sure to head over to her “Friday” music video on YouTube and “dislike” or “like” it! And remember people, yesterday was Tuesday, today is Wednesday, tomorrow is Thursday, and the day after that is FRIDAY! Just in case you forgot.
From a YouTube clip last April to the Ellen DeGenerous Show to co-headlining an North American Tour – and Greyson Chance is only 13-years-old.
Before you pin him off as another “Bieber”, check out the famous YouTube video that showcases Chance transformation of Gaga’s “Paparazzi” pop hooks into a heart-felt ballad as he accompanies himself on piano.
After a few weeks and over 30 million views, the video exploded and became one of the most watched on YouTube and in turn Greyson Chance became a sensation. Ellen DeGeneres received a letter from Greyson’s brother Tanner suggesting that she should watch the video. After two performances on her show, Ellen announced that she had signed Chance to her new label: eleveneleven. He has since signed a major-label deal with Geffen Records and Maverick Records.
“I think it’s an honour to be compared to Justin. I mean, he’s this big pop act,” says Chance. “But, my music is definitely more of a pop-rock sound.”
Chance is currently undergoing work on his debut album with a team of top-notch songwriters, including The Matrix (Jason Mraz, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne) and Danielle Brisebois (Natasha Bedingfeld, Kylie Monogue, Leona Lewis).
“The story or the concept is really about heartbreak,” Chance says of the new album’s theme. “Starts with going through a relationship, you’re so in love and you’re so happy. She breaks up with you, she breaks your heart. You hate her but you still love her. And in the end it turns into this dark story about heartbreak and how you deal with it and how painful it can really be.”
This year’s Golden Globe’s dropped jaws, the Oscar’s received yawns and the Grammys’ only highlight was the Arcade Fire.
And at Sunday night’s 40th Juno Awards, the Montreal-based independent rock band cleaned up again and won four awards including Songwriters of the Year, Group of the Year and Album of the Year.
“Thank you, we are so happy,” Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler told the audience in accepting their first award of the night for Best Group.”I want to just give a shout-out to all the bands that we kind of came up with from Royal City to Hidden Cameras to The Unicorn to Wolf Parade and all the amazing Canadian bands and thank you so much.”
Arcade Fire homecoming victories for ‘The Suburbs” was a followup to winning Album of the Year at this year’s Grammies and winning Best International Group and Best International Album at this year’s Brit Awards.
“It’s a long way from Sneaky Dees — the first place we played in Toronto,” said Butler as they picked up their second award on Sunday’s show. The only category the band lost was to Daniel Lanois for Producer of the Year for his work on Neil Young’s “Le Noise” won.
That Saturday night win for “Le Noise” was just a prelude to Neil Young’s triumphant evening on Sunday. Representing the old Canadian values, Young was honoured with the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award for his founding both Farm Aid and the Bridge School Benefit concerts.
“What year is this?,” remarked Young after shutting out Justin Bieber for Artist of the Year. ”I was 16 one time. He’s fantastic. He’s got some moves, doesn’t he?”
Young, who has not attended the Junos gala in 29 or so years, also won Best Adult Alternative Album.
The mighty tour-de-force that is Justin Bieber picked up two trophies via-satellite for Juno Fan Choice Award and Best Pop Album. ”Thank you so much for being so supportive,” said Bieber from Rotterdam, where he is currently on tour. “You guys have been incredible. 2011 has been absolutely crazy.”
Unfortunately, the Juno host and local-rapper Drake who led the list of nominees with six, left with no hardware. He was up for essentially every major category: Album, Fan Choice, Artist, Album, Songwriter, Single and Rap Recording. The latter of the bunch he surprisingly lost to the up-and-coming Toronto artist Shad on Saturday night.
However, the former Degrassi star had a refreshing opening to the show that involved Bieber on Skype exchanging verses on the timeless Sarah McLachlan tune “I Will Remember You”.
“You my friend have the voice of a young rabbi,” said Drake. Afterward, he was joined by pianist Chilly Gonzalez for a lounge medley that included a tribute to Shania Twain.
“You’re from Timmins, I’m from Toronto, you worked at McDonald’s and I eat McDonald’s, we should be together … Man, I’d like to make you feel like a woman baby,” he sang out.
Later in the evening, Bryan Adams presented his friend Twain with the Hall of Fame Award. The montage tribute video of her career included appearances by Anne Murray and Taylor Swift, who both praised her for inspiration.
“This is just a very beautiful moment for me. I’m really so proud of Canada’s talent,” said Twain. “I sit here tonight in the audience and I watch these amazing new artists up here on the stage. I have more pride in what the country has created musically than I am even of my own success. This is a beautiful country. I feel like I should just be wearing the Canadian flag tonight.”
“I love our lakes,” and then Twain dropped what will likely be the joke of headlines tomorrow morning: “I love our bush.”
Another highlight of the evening was the Love Letter to Toronto that featured today’s young and hot artists performing hits of yester-year! That’s likely how the initial concept was explained… It was well executed though. From Sarah Harmer’s angelic rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Carey” from Blue to Dallas Green’s take on “Old Man” with Young gleaming from front row.
Gordon Lightfoot and the Band were also paid tribute to by Jim Cuddy, Sarah Slean, Kevin Hearn, Serena Ryder, Greg Keelor, the Sadies and Derek Miller.
Other performers on Sunday were Down With Webster, Hedley, Tokyo Police Club, Johnny Reid, Broken Social Scene, Chromeo and Arcade Fire.

The great thing about today’s technology is that it can be combined with charity efforts on a global scale. I think this is a great cause and great concept – iTunes is one of the hottest markets right now, so why not use it for good? I know many young people who don’t exactly have the money to donate, but I’m pretty sure we all have money on our iTunes account, so this little bit can help in a major way.
Selena Gomez appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday to talk her new single, “Who Says,” which she performed later on in the show.
“I felt like this single really says a lot because it’s already hard enough being 18 and figuring out who you are, and what you want to be, and people just want to constantly take you down,” Gomez told Ellen.
The song has a great message, and although it might be a bit cheesy, it does have a catchy tune! “The song is basically saying we’re all insecure,” says Gomez. “We all feel this way, and that I think everyone’s beautiful, and it’s not sad, it’s just fun. It’s just light.”
When asked if she was bullied as a kid, Gomez answered, “It wasn’t that I was bullied as a kid, I think that everybody obviously gets picked at and made fun of and I still have to obviously deal with that now.” And doesn’t she ever, with all the hate mail and death threats the young star has been receiving from Beliebers all over the world. Well WE love you Selena, and we think that you and Justin made an adorable couple!
And of course, leave it to Ellen to guilt Gomez into talking about her romance with the Biebs! When Gomez appeared on Ellen back in September, the singer/actress answered Ellen’s questioning by saying, “He’s little! He’s like my little brother…that’s weird to me!” But after showing up together arm-in-arm at the Vanity Fair party, and their shopping excursion on Bieber’s birthday, Gomez had a hard time denying it the second time around.
“Noooo,” was Gomez’s answer when Ellen asked, “But he’s not like your little brother, is he?”
“He’s sweet,” Gomez announced. As a parting gift, Ellen gave Gomez a pillow with Bieber’s face printed on it because she’s apart from Justin and she doesn’t want to miss him too much. “He’s going to make me sleep with this every night,” Gomez laughed. “Thank you for that!”
Backstage, Gomez also announced that her band, Selena Gomez and the Scene, will be touring this summer with their opening act, Allstar Weekend. The tour will kick off in Costa Mesa, CA., on July 24, 2011.
According to Perez Hilton, Gomez is thinking of adding a little Britney-love to the show. “We haven’t announced anything yet but I’m already creatively thinking about what I want and we are working on a few cover songs. We’re doing a Britney tribute which I’m so stoked about! I love Britney, I was like, ‘I have to do it, I wanna do a mash up of all her songs and just go for it. We’re gonna do her hits Baby One More Time, and then I think we’re going to try to incorporate Toxic and that phase, and then we might do some of her recent stuff.”
Can’t wait to see it, Selena! For more info and a full list of tour dates, head over to Gomez’s official website.
That Justin Bieber kid, that you may have heard of, has beat out the late King of Pop at the box-office.
Less than a year after Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ became the most successful concert-film in U.S. history, Justin Bieber’s ‘Never Say Never’ concert fan-tastic film has snatched the title.
On Monday, the Hollwood Reporter published figures that show ‘Never Say Never’ has raked in $72.2 million (U.S. dollar) at the box office since its January release, where as Jackson’s 2009 concert film ‘This Is It’ has $72.1 million. Although Bieber has taken in those impressive numbers, he has to work some magic before he tops the MJ global intake.
With a global total of $261.2 million, ‘This Is It’ has crippled Bieber’s doc that has a modest $83 million globally so far. However, Paramount executives predict the film cashing in at least $10 million more internationally.
The U.S. numbers for Bieber were clearly impacted by the film’s re-release with an additional 40 minutes of bonus footage from director Jon M. Chu.
Bieber will likely continue to duel Jackson’s milestones throughout the next few years, in fact he checked another off a few weeks ago when he posed with his new wax figure at London’s Madame Tussauds. He is also among the artists to be featured on a Universal Music digital-only album to raise funds for Japan’s earthquake and tsunami victims. Funding will go toward the Japanese Red Cross. Alongside Bieber for the project are U2, Rihanna, Bon Jovi and Nicki Minaj. What an eclectic group.
Viral video sensation Rebecca Black is reportedly working on a new song with co-writers Ark Music Factory.
Perez Hilton reports that the “Friday” singer is currently in the studio writing with her collaborators and that we should expect the new project soon.
Black tweeted: “We’re currently writing another song…it does not have to do with weekdays, or months, or numbers or colors. Throwin’ that out there.”
Well that’s a relief! We think one educational song per career is a good limit.
Check out Rebecca’s current LOLarious hit, “Friday,” below.
Planning to go see Charlie Sheen on tour? Well start saving up, because now you can buy premium tickets to meet the winner himself, and all for the low price of – drumroll please…$750?!
According to Perez Hilton, Sheen is now selling premium tickets for his Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option tour, where people will “hear the REAL story from the Warlock.” Can’t wait!
What do these premium goodies award you, one might ask? “One premium reserved ticket located within the first 10 rows of the theater, an exclusive meet-and-greet with Charlie, a personal photograph with the star, an autographed 8-by-10 photo, a numbered limited-edition tour poster and an official meet-and-greet laminate,” writes Perez. Now that sounds like $750 well spent! Too bad I spent all my money on Justin Bieber meet and greets…
“Tickets for Charlie’s tour are selling out quicker than expected and everyone wants to meet Charlie. He could charge twice this for a meet-and-greet!” a source told Life & Style.
I don’t know about charging twice, but at the rate the tickets are going, that source good just be right! What has the world come to?
Are you planning on catching Sheen on his sharing-of-tiger-blooded-human-knowledge tour? Would you pay $750 to meet him? I’ll be the front row – see you there!
Oh my Bieber, it’s Justin times two! 2x cuteness + 2x angel voice = sigh…
Justin Bieber’s wax double was unveiled yesterday in the London Madame Tussauds Wax Museum – and the 17-year-old couldn’t have been happier about it!
The Biebs took to Twitter during the event, embarking on a major tweet-spree expressing his excitement over the event. He tweeted:
“arrived at @tussaudslondon to see my WAX figure!! the 1st time i saw a wax figure was in nyc and all we could do was look thru the glass”
“now we are here in London and they r about to show my figure here and in amsterdam and in nyc at the one we looked thru the glass. #DREAMBIG”
“look right over there. they think we know eachother…http://plixi.com/p/84220549”
“TWINS! lolhttp://plixi.com/p/84220955”
“knew @studiomama had more kids! me and my mom and lil brohttp://plixi.com/p/84221484”
And as always, he ended with a lovely thank you to his fans:
“thanks to the fans and @TussaudsLondon for today. from staring thru the glass to being made in wax inside… #neversaynever”
Madame Tussaud clearly didn’t get the memo that Bieber cut his hair, TWICE, after the hairdo this wax-Justin is sporting. Nonetheless, the new Bieber is an almost identical double, and better brace himself for the hordes of screaming girls that will be coming to visit him over the next few months! At least he’s a little less breakable than the real one.
This wasn’t the only Bieber unveiling to go down recently. Around 275 kids filled the Bata Shoe Museum viewing room in Toronto, Ontario, on Monday, to get a glimpse of the newly-added purple high-top Supras (size seven and a half, for you crazy Beliebers who were curious) worn by none other than Bieber himself. The museum bought the sneakers at a Clothes off Our Back Charity Auction, the proceeds of which go to children’s charities.
“Only a little glass keeps me from his DNA,” 14-year-old Montana Cannon told the Toronto Star on Monday. If that’s what they say about his shoes, I wonder what girls would do if it was his hair behind that glass…
The original Wizard of Waverly Place can’t magic her way out of this one!
Selena Gomez is absolutely terrified of Justin Bieber fans after receiving so many death threats from the jealous mob of preteens! Perez Hilton reports that the Biebs has tried to soothe his girlfriend but she’s still worried for her safety.
Bieber, you’re king of twitter! A public tweet condemning fans that threaten other people’s lives would probably do the trick!
Selena’s newest single, “Who Says,” is supposedly in retaliation to all the ‘haters’ the Disney star has had the misfortune of recently acquiring.
Go Selena! Fight off those haters and ride on a white horse into the sunset with the Biebs by your side!
I’ve got a question for you: how much are you willing to pay for the necklace that Lindsay Lohan stole? Personally, I’d say five cents, but I think even that might be too much.
According to TMZ, Kamofie and Co., the store Lohan stole a necklace from, is auctioning off the necklace for charity.
Lohan, who was reported to have stolen the $2,500 necklace back in January, is being charged with felony grand theft by the L.A. County District Attorney. According to TMZ, Lohan claims that the necklace was a loan, and a video has recently surfaced showing Lohan wearing the necklace around the store for at least 45 minutes, and even talking to the store owner, before leaving.
“We have decided to sell the diamond necklace through auction, and give the proceeds to charity,” said a representative from Kamofie and Co. “We invite the public to make suggestions as to the most appropriate charity to receive the benefit of the sale’s proceeds.”
Good luck raising more than $10! If Lindsay didn’t even have $2500 to spare on it, what makes them think anyone else will?
Now, I know your money is burning a hole in your pockets after hearing this, but unfortunately you’re going to have to keep it in your wallet for a little while longer! According to the rep, the auction won’t take place until after the case is resolved, “by plea bargain, or trial or some other means.” Until then, the L.A. County District Attorney is holding the necklace as evidence.
Do they really think that Lindsay’s necklace will be able to top Justin Bieber’s hair selling for $40,668? The sad thing is, it just might!
It looks like Bieber’s compensating for his recent dramatic haircut by growing some hair a little further south. That’s right: the Biebs is putting a ‘stache on it!
Justin tweeted the following message to his fans:
“im not shaving for a month so you all can see my mustache. i’m pumped.”
Aww, what a precious delicate flower! We’d love to see you try to grow a mustache…emphasis on the word ‘try.’ Lolz!
Be careful Biebs…remember what happened to teen heartthrobs Jesse McCartney and the Jonas Brothers when they grew up! Preteens like to spend their money on the young and babyfaced…and we know how much you like to spend YOUR money on GF Selena Gomez.
Don’t rush it! Stay young and keep the ca$h rolling in!
British singer Adele took the #1 spot next week on the Billboard 200 chart, reports MTV News.
The soul singer’s album 21 has sold over 352,000 copies in the first weeks, surpassing Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never – The Remixes, which dropped to #2 as sales trailed off to 102,000.
Adele’s 2008 debut 19 continues to march its way back up the charts as well, jumping 34 spots to #16 on sales of 18,000.
I’m glad an actually talented artist is dominating the charts for once, as opposed to the pop sensations that usually dominate the sales. I personally got the chance to see Adele on the Canada AM soundstage last week, and she was phenomenal. She has a presence, a style, and a voice that could blow off the roof of any building. And she’s only 22!
I think the success of Adele lies in her widespread appeal. Her music could appeal to a younger generation, with songs like Rolling In The Deep that have a current, modern feel, but her voice alone could appeal to an older audience, as they can find nostalgia and comfort in her old-timesy feel. I know my parents love her voice, and my friends love her album, so really, who can not like Adele?
But in all honesty, the reason I’m really happy over this news is that she bumped Justin Bieber from the top spot. I think it’s about time for him to give up the #1 spot, or even his career. Actually, Jbiebz, you can just stop making music now. I think we’ll all be fine with Adele taking your place. Am I right?
To the dismay of thousands of teenage girls around the world, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have brought their relationship out of the closet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Right, because no one knew they were dating before this.
The two arrived at the Sunset Tower together with their arms around each other, Gomez admittedly a vision in red Dolce & Gabbana piece. Justin even matched his outfit with his girlfriend, adding a little flare of red in the form of a handkerchief in the pocket of his D&G black suit. If that doesn’t say couple, I don’t know what will!
“They were feeding each other with their forks and they definitely kissed. It was obvious they are totally enamored with one another and that the feelings are mutual either way,” a source told Perez Hilton.
If that isn’t enough, the two were seen together yesterday for the Biebs’ birthday. According to E! Online, the duo hit up Beverly Hills boutiques, visiting Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana – apparently the two can’t get enough Dolce! And it seems like it’s true love for this couple; they stopped a number of times to give each other a hug, and as usual, the paparazzi were not too far behind and documented every one. Oh pap, we know we can always count on you to get our daily dose of the Biebs!
But as usual, Gomez wasn’t the only girl on Bieber’s mind! Relax, it’s not Kim Kardashian or Beyonce this time – the other woman in his life is none other than his grandmother! On his birthday, the “Baby” singer tweeted, “great bday. flew in grandma and got my cake. hung out with friends. got surprised. and you all helped #makeachange with @charitywater.”
Way to make girls swoon over you even more by getting them to make mommy and daddy donate money to charity, Justin!
Although the singer just turned 17, I’m sure lots of girls are waiting for the magic 18…I know Kim is!
Looks like that swagger coach is finally paying off!
Justin Bieber decided on a whim last week to fill girlfriend Selena Gomez’s house with flowers, a spontaneous gesture that cleaned out a local flower shop and took multiple trucks to fulfill.
Aww, that’s so sweet… and completely insane.
Sources at TMZ say that Selena loved the grand gesture, despite the date holding no special significance for either of them.
A wonderful gift, but if we were Selena we might be a little freaked out right now! Flowers are nice, but a HOUSE FULL of flowers sounds kind of creepy…
Enjoy it while it lasts, Selena!
The apocalypse is nigh!!!!
Justin Bieber has reportedly hacked off his silky locks and ditched his signature bowl cut for a shorter, more grown up look. We know fans thought it’d never happen, but as the Biebs always says, never say never!
Though nothing’s been confirmed about the photo, #RIPhaiflip is already trending on Twitter!
We like the Bieb’s new look, but we’re still not sure how we feel about him after that revealing Rolling Stone interview…
CHECK OUT BIEBER’S HAIRCUT HERE!
Thoughts?
Earlier this week on OWN’s the Gayle King Show, golden-voiced legend James Earl Jones (of Star Wars and CNN) recited the lyrics of Justin Bieber’s “Baby”.
It didn’t take long for Lucas-heads to developed a video to go with it.
This soon-to-be Bieber classic was given such raw emotion by Jones, that it immediately brings to mind other recent renditions of modern classics. Remember when Josh Groban sung Kanye West’s tweets in his flawless tenor? Or how about Christopher Walken bedazzled the world with his reading of Lady Gaga’s beloved “Poker Face”?
Shatner… the ball is in your court now.
Don’t get too excited. The beloved Justin Bieber was only shot down in a new episode of CSI, which is the latest platform that the shaggy haired Canadian-boy has dominated.
The Biebs has been everywhere, from Ellen to SNL, over the past few weeks in a promotional rampage of his new concert-documentary: “Never Say Never”. On Thursday night, his short-lived television career as a character on CSI came to a tragic end.
The songbird returned to the set of the TV drama earlier this year to reprise his role as Jason McCann, after surprising both critics and cast-members with his acting skills last year.
You can watch and re-watch and share and soak in the hilarity here.
Bring on the YouTube remixes!
Understandably, Bieber wanted to win at the Grammys on Sunday, and its understandable he’s a little bummed he didn’t win. And of course millions of little Bieber fans are disappointed about his loss, but Justin is taking the event in stride.
“Yes, I wanted to win, but I had an amazing night and performed with Usher and Jaden. That’s so huge!” Bieber told PopEater.
It’s actually refreshing to see this kid lose at something. Justin has $100 Million in the bank, his own biopic, and millions of screaming fans. Isn’t only fair he give someone else the spotlight for a change? And in all fairness, he did get a fair bit of attention at the Grammys during his performance.
So Justin learned a valuable lesson – you can’t always get your way. He’s growing up!!!!!!
This promo tour is getting a little out of hand!
Pop sensation Justin Bieber showed up at a press conference for Johnny Depp’s latest film Rango, interrupting the proceedings to chat with the actor. Coincidentally, Depp had just finished talking about how his children were huge fans of the pint-sized star who treated the baby Depps to a performance in Miami last December.
“I’m a Belieber,” Depp laughed as he shook hands with the Biebs. Justin returned the compliment, explaining that he was a “huge fan” and wanted to support the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
Hmm, we’re pretty sure Johnny Depp doesn’t need any extra support, Justin! It probably would have felt more sincere if you didn’t edit in a post-video bumper promoting your new 3D movie…
First an appearance on SNL, then The Daily Show, and now random press conferences? The self-promo is getting a little annoying, Biebs!
