It’s been barely a year since the first instalment of the wildly popular book series the Hunger Games made its way to the big screen. While it may seem an incredibly quick turnaround, the sequel in its film franchise will be be here sooner than you know it.
A new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiered Sunday during the MTV Movie Awards. Liam Hemsworth, a.k.a. Thor’s little brother/Miley Cyrus’ maybe fiancé/Gale, was on hand to introduce the two and half minute trailer to viewers. In it, we see more drama, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen both looking spectacular and being such a badass, and some quick insight into the tyrannical thinking of President Snow.
Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to be released in theatres November 22, 2013.
The casting for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire was announced a couple weeks ago and now we’re finally getting solid proof of that sh*t is going down. The first on-set shots of the movie are circulating online and I’m kinda freaking out.
Josh Hutcherson shows off his newly-dyed blond hair as Peeta and Sam Claflin looks smoking as Finnick Odair. The duo are on location in Atlanta Georgia,

Nina Dobrev
What she wore: The Vampire Diaries star celebrated her September Ocean Drive magazine cover in a strapless graphic GUiSHEM by Guillermo Jop dress.
Why we love it: The dress has an awesome geometric pattern that takes your eyes on a journey all over the dress. It’s a sexy cocktail dress but that pattern makes it modern and cool. The solid black insets at the waist, giving her that coveted hourglass shape and an even more stunning silhouette.
Takeaway: The eye-catching graphic pattern might scare off more conservative people, however the striking black, white and grey colour-scheme makes it approachable. Dresses with black insets or black side panelling are great for all shapes and sizes because it creates an hourglass silhouette illusion. Dobrev’s dress sure is hypnotizing!
Shenae Grimes
What she wore: The 90210 actress wore a pink sheer lace LOFT top with a leather skirt and black blazer at LOFT and Giuliana Rancic’s “Live in Pink” event in West Hollywood, California.
Why we love it: If you ever heard the song “Leather and Lace” then you can see what kind of look Grimes’ was channeling, and we love it! The look mixes both sweet and feminine lace with tough and sexy leather, and adds smart and clever with her blazer (the epitome of a modern woman). But all that aside, it’s a cool look that one can rock back to school despite the sheerness of the top (obviously opt for something not as see-through). Plus the statement necklaces adds a nice touch of metallic but also doesn’t distract you form the rest of the outfit.
Takeaway: Try mixing two different styles together to get a more complex and unique look. Mixing sweet bohemian with tough rocker chick can show the world there is more to you than meets the eye.
Josh Hutcherson
What he wore: The Hunger Games star wore a Levi’s Trucker Jacket, a white tee, dark denim, and lace up Vans at CBS’ “Teacher’s Rock Special Live Concert” in Los Angeles, California.
Why we love it: Hutcherson sported the classic All-American look: jeans, a white tee and a denim jacket. I know what you’re thinking and yes the denim jacket-jeans combo is also called the Canadian Tuxedo, but that’s specific to when the wash (colour) of denim is the exact same (or very similar) for both the jacket and the pants. Opting for the darker denim, Hutcherson had more versatility with this clean and casual look, whereas if he went lighter, he wouldn’t look as cool. (If you don’t believe me, click here.)
Takeaway: Having a denim jacket is a solid investment for anyone to have and works year round, except for winter. But make sure that if you’re going to pair it with jeans go for a drastically different wash or even coloured denim. (Try sticking with khakis because it’ll make your life a lot easier.) Kate

The 1984 movie Red Dawn had an all-star cast that included Charlie Sheen, Patrick Swayze, C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy!!) and Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing). I wasn’t around back then but I’m guessing it was pretty much the teen movie to go to.
I don’t always understand the necessity of remakes — especially if the plot isn’t changed all that much — but I just might go see the new Red Dawn just because they fast-forwarded the story to the present day. Instead of combating Soviet forces, a group of courageous teenagers are defending their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.
Granted, the likelihood of disorderly teenagers (who have probably only ever shot a gun in an iPhone game) saving a small town is slightly unbelievable. Still, I’m pretty sure if actor Chris Hemsworth is present North Korea would be like: “Damn, it’s Thor. Back out boys!”
The movie stars Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, who both have connections to The Hunger Games. The action flick hits theaters Nov. 21, 2012. Will you see it? Check out the original and new movie trailers below. I want to like the new version but I have to say, the original trailer is pretty enticing.

Demi Lovato

What she’s wearing: Lovato was photographed wearing a lace white dress and a spike-studded denim jacket on her way to tape an episode of X-Factor US.
Why we love it: If this outfit is any indication of what type of X-Factor judge Lovato will be, expect the former Disney star to be tough but kind. The small lace details makes this LWD (little white dress) a standout as it draws inspiration from the current lace-crochet trend. Lovato counterbalances the soft sweet dress with with a spiked denim jacket, which will surely scare off her fellow judge Simon Cowell. To style the look, Lovato draws inspiration from retro icon Rosie the Riveter, with her red-polka dot headband and updo while modernizing the look with round white sunglasses.
Dianna Agron

What she’s wearing: The Glee star wore a vibrant multi-coloured striped Prada dress, paired with Capri sandals and Miu Miu sunglasses at the 2012 Giffoni Film Festival.
Why we love it: The bright colours and the quirky geometric patterns makes this classic babydoll dress an eye-turner. The thick red sunglasses and chunky red sandals complete this look, perfect for a fun day in beautiful Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy.
Kate Middleton

What she’s wearing: While awaiting the Olympic Torch’s arrival to Buckingham Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge wears an Adidas Official Team GB white polo, cobalt blue jeans from Zara, and navy Corkswoon wedges by Stuart Weitzman.
Why we love it: Usually the words ‘casual’ and ‘royalty’ don’t go together, but Kate proves she can pull off any look with royal ease. Coloured denim has been a trend for a while now, but seeing the future Queen of England rocking a pair of electric blue jeans shows that this trend is here to stay. Perhaps she can convince her husband Prince Will to give coloured denim a try too. The crisp white polo keeps this look simple but most importantly shows her support for Team Great Britain. Navy wedges keep everything in the Team GB colour scheme and also match her sapphire engagement ring. (Don’t pretend you didn’t see it, that thing is massive!).

We’ve finally solved the eternal mystery of what in the world is cuter than the guys of One Direction. It was a seemingly puzzling riddle with an easy solution: One Direction as les babies. Look how ADORBZ they are. But quick question: why are both Liam Payne and Niall Horan holding toy guns? They’re like baby snipers.
Anyway, here are some other adorable baby photos of celebs like Robert Pattinson, Drake and Usher. Who do you think is the cutest?

So much HAWTNESS at the MTV Movie Awards last night. But I appreciate the misses too because at least those celebs are taking a fashion risk. Otherwise it’s just plain boring, right?
Winners:
Peplum: Emma Stone & Charlize Theron
Both Emma Stone and Charlize Theron pulled off peplum looks. Theron wins by a thread because her striking red Lanvin dress complements her skin tone perfectly and is a little more fun for the MTV Movie Awards. But Stone won the trailblazer award so you know whatever look she touches is golden.
Vintage-inspired T’s: Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa wore a Joan Jett shirt (above) and sunglasses indoors because duh! I’m not sure if he’s wearing the top ironically but I NEED. It looks comfortable plus he’s paying respects to one of rock’s legends.
Sneakers: Kristen Stewart

K-Stew always steals my heart because she manages to be fashionable without sacrificing her comfort or individuality. Some old school designers might cringe (Sacrebleu!) at the sight of her sneakers but personally I think she manages to pull them off. Of course, she didn’t change into the sneakers until after the red carpet because her stylist would have died. Love the Guishem dress too.

Figuring out what to do for Mother’s Day is always so tough and rigged with complicated questions. Do you get flowers (lilies, roses, lilacs), chocolate (dark, caramel, almond), or make breakfast (don’t get me started). But ultimately, they probably just want to spend some sentimental time with you… or maybe some much needed peace and quiet.
In honour of the holiday, we’re taking a look at some of our favourite celebrities spending some quality time with their moms.

19-year-old actor Josh Hutcherson tricked a Ralph’s Grocery store clerk into selling him an expensive bottle of whiskey.
According to TMZ, Josh posed as over 21 and used a fake ID to purchase the alcohol.
“We strictly enforce all laws relating to the sale of alcohol to minors. We will investigate these allegations and take any steps necessary,” said a spokesperson for Ralph’s.
Josh could be prosecuted and the maximum punishment is 6 months in jail, although in reality he would probably not be spending any time behind bars. The police could also go after Ralph’s for selling to a minor.
Not that we condone underage drinking, this seems like a light situation considering that a lot of people buy alcohol with fake I.Ds. If he wanted to be a bit more stealth (now that he’s pretty famous), he could have asked someone else to buy it for him.
It’s interesting because Josh once said on camera,”I think the age to go to war is 18 … so I think the drinking age should be 18 as well.”
Well in that case, Josh should move to Canada. Here, we can drink when we turn 19. (Except for Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, the drinking age is 18!)

If you’re a celebrity and haven’t been hounded by Stalker Sarah, you’re probably not all that important. The 16-year-old, who lives in LA, has met EVERY famous person, from Katy Perry to Skrillex to Josh Hutcherson.
She has over 4600 photos on her Flickr account of her posing with tabloid headliners, which is how she earned the nickname “Stalker Sarah.” Strangely, in every photo she stands to the right of the celeb in question and has the exact same smile. She’s even developed a strategy to silently stalk her prey, intuitively waiting outside restaurants and airport terminals like the paps.
Sarah has eyes and ears across the city and was there to jump to Lindsay Lohan’s defence after her alleged hit and run. She served as an eyewitness for TMZ:

According to Jezebel she’s so well known she now attends events with celebrities, including a Nylon party and Perez Hilton’s birthday. While part of me is slightly concerned, I’m impressed the girl is so persistant! Plus she seems to be pretty positive about her encounters. Check out her photostream here.

The Hunger Games loverboy Josh Hutcherson revealed on Jay Leno that his most embarrassing moment EVER was his not-so-amazing pitching at a Cincinnati Reds game in Kentucky a couple days ago. Apparently he played baseball for seven years growing up and practised for weeks before pitching in the stadium. But you couldn’t tell, because the nerves kicked in during the sold-out game.
When the ball hit the dirt he fell to his knees in shame. “I’m a better athlete than that, I promise you!” he pleaded.
Watch the interview here:
Katy Perry

Katy Perry outsmarted the Kids’ Choice slimers by wearing a radioactive sewer green colour. The small act of defiance would camouflage any disgusting sludge thrown on her during the awards by making it look like she had already been poured on. Damn Katy Perry for thinking ahead! From then on, any spontaneous sliming throughout the ceremony would be so two hours ago.
Selena Gomez

Like Katy Perry, Selena Gomez chose to go with a midriff baring top (gasp!) but manages to make it parent-endorsed by choosing white lace to counteract its risque nature. The outfit is by Dolce & Gabbana.
Kristen Stewart

I’m not into Kristen Stewart’s matching shoes and dress. [Warning: cheesy joke coming.] It makes me feel blue. The hair pulled back with the lacey Stella McCartney dress makes it look a little too pristine for the Kids’ Choice Awards. She could have at least added her trademark worn out Converse.
Emma Stone

Emma Stone gets the “Serious Fashion for Serious People Award.” Her Antonio Berardi dress is chic without being too stuck up and without being too… slime green.
And the guys….
Josh Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson roughed it in a pair of jeans, plaid shirt and beige jacket. It’s a little too casual (especially the shoes) but we’ll take it. Swoon!
One Direction

One Direction donned their tightest pants (I’m looking at you Louis) and firmest hair gel. Notice how their strategic clothing binds them together. Niall and Zayn wear white on the top and dark pants on the bottom. Harry and Liam wear dark blazers on top and white pants on the bottom. Then there’s Louis… who is glueing the band together in all white.
Cody Simpson

Just like Louis, Cody Simpson wore all white and even buttoned his collared shirt all the way to the top (he was feeling a little shy). He also managed to pose with his sunglasses just so for the entire night. The pose is a dangerous tactic to hook more fans, but he knows it never fails.

Liam Hemworth reminisced about bonding with Josh Hutcherson over Whitecastle burgers last night on Jay Leno. The Australian hunk and his Hunger Games co-star noshed on juicy patties and decided the only thing that could make their man-date better was to play basketball on a full stomach.
The friendly competition was a little too much for their digestive system to handle and they consequently threw up their burgers. It’s okay though — Peeta and Gale might not be chums in the movie but Liam says their basketball throw up down was a memorable male bonding experience.
Leno was clearly forced to asked Liam about the engagement rumours between him and long-time girlfriend Miley Cyrus. The verdict? Not engaged. Duh.
Josh Hutcherson managed to make his fans swooning hearts spontaneously combust when he hummed Mario’s theme song for ABC News. The Hunger Games star, who plays Peeta (duh), delved into two versions of the song. Starting with the euphoric happy beat and then going into the more mysterious track that accompanies Mario underground. It makes me remember all the hours I spent playing Nintendo with my best friend in kindergarten.

The recent Twitter rants against Amandla Stenberg are beyond ridiculous and are incredibly offensive. Some “fans” of The Hunger Games’ were upset that a black character was cast in the role of Rue and voiced their opinions on Twitter. Lenny Kravitz (who plays Cinna) and Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) were also criticized. Below, are two of the examples, which are listed on the tumblr account “Hunger Games Tweets.”
Joe Longley: “@KatrinaOrsini EWW rue is black?? I’m not watching.”
Maggie McDonnell: “why does rue have to be black not gonna lie kinda ruined the movie”
Luckily, the actress who plays Rue has a lot more maturity than these bullies and said in a statement released today:
“As a fan of the books, I feel fortunate to be part of The Hunger Games family,” she said. “It was an amazing experience; I am proud of the film and my performance. I want to thank all of my fans and the entire Hunger Games community for their support and loyalty.”
In fact, Suzanne Collins describes Rue in the book as having dark skin: “…And most hauntingly, a twelve-year-old girl from District 11. She has dark brown skin and eyes, but other than that’s she’s very like Prim in size and demeanor…”
Even if that wasn’t the description, there’s no reason for this ludicrous bigotry. Other characters in The Hunger Games have been picked on for their appearance. For example, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence have been criticized for not having traditional body types. What is wrong with the world?!
Watch Amandla Stenberg talk about Rue:

Get your mind out of the gutter! Naturally, “Peeniss” is a celebrity supername for The Hunger Games’ Peeta and Katniss, much like Brangelina.
On last night’s episode of Conan O’Brien, Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, shared the creepiest declarations of insanity signs he’s seen since starting the tour. While the signs started off innocently enough, they soon developed a sexual tinge like “I’m a Peeta-file.”
Then they started to have no connection to the movie whatsoever. For example, two girls artfully cut circles in a board, stuck their heads through it and wrote the question: “Wanna have a threesome?” That’s not subtle at all. And for the record, it didn’t work ladies!
Watch it here:

Meeting The Hunger Games’ Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson causes uncontrollable squealing and increased eyelash batting for most fangirls. When I interviewed the hotties for my first red carpet event (ever!) I had a total teen girl moment. Here’s our behind the scenes look at the red carpet event.
Hundreds of fans headed to the Los Angeles’ Hunger Games premiere on Monday night to showcase their intense love of the movie with homemade signs. Forget about Edward versus Jacob, the new battle is between Peeta and Gale. One girl even requested her first kiss from Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta.
On top of the film’s stars, Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth there were lots of other A-listers at the premiere, including Miley Cyrus, Sylvester Stallone, and Shailene Woodley.
The first reviews are already in and I’m happy to report (as a reader of the books) that they’re positive and it’s expected to be on par with Harry Potter and Twilight.
Check out some of the signs below:

First there was a wizard phenomenon with Harry Potter, and shortly after, the vampire craze that came along with Twilight. But now that Harry Potter and Twilight are both ending, what will teenagers turn to now? Hopfully The Hunger Games.
The much anticipated full-length trailer has finally been released during Good Morning America on Monday. Tweens, you can stop pinching yourself, this is definitely the real deal and not just a fan-made video! Based on the book series of the same name, the film will star Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson.
Die-hard fans shouldn’t worry about the movie ruining the books or drastically changing any major scenes. In a recent interview with MTV, Hutcherson revealed that the movie is “very similar to the book.”
In the movie, Hutcherson plays Peeta, one of the two tributes from District 12 who is chosen to compete in the 74th annual Hunger Games.
“It kind of drove me crazy in a way, because I felt like I was so right for [the part], then I had to go through this crazy audition process. So to finally be making the movie and now we’re finished, it’s like, somebody please pinch me, because I still don’t believe this is actually happening,” Hutcherson told MTV.
“For me, it’s just an honor to be a part of such a great story. Gary Ross is such an amazing director, and Jennifer Lawrence is perfect, and everyone else we cast was really great,” he said.
The film is set to hit theatres March 2012. Until then, we’re all glued to the computer watching the trailer over and over again.
