One of the most endearing things about indie dance duo Matt and Kim is their wicked sense of humour and candid war stories, including getting blackout drunk or fooling around with “groadies” (groupies + roadies).
Apart from being hilarious, their fourth-studio album Lightning is addictive. They were happy to go back to their DIY roots, recording it themselves from their hometown in New York — which also meant they didn’t have to wear pants (WIN).
In their interview with ANDPOP’s @Jordans_Life, Matt and Kim also revealed how they got their start with the after-hours MTV crowd.
“When we started out we were just playing loft parties and house parties and stuff like that and we ended up hosting a show on MTV really early on before were doing any legit venue shows,” said Matt. “But it’s just probably because the people who were coming to those parties and stuff like that are also —”
” — people who work for MTV or write for magazines,” added Kim.
“So you’re in front of those people just when they’re going out to gett blackout drunk,” Matt laughed.
Either way, we’re happy they caught the attention of those reporters early on because we’re obsessed!

Allstar Weekend’s Michael Martinez is the only member turned away from the camera on the cover of their new album The American Dream. Considering all the folklore behind album covers, we wanted to get to the bottom of this. Is it some type of hidden message? A conspiracy? ANDPOP’s @Jordans_Life sat down with the guys and talked to them about their cover, being unphotogenic (we beg to differ) and the evolution of music.

Love and loss are pretty common subjects to write songs about. However, few people bring the theatrical drama to songs about heartbreak like Marina. Once again, @Jordans_life had a bit of a “Dr. Phil” moment with her and asked about her personal life. We’re not exactly sure about his motives here but Marina seemed into it. What do you think? Should some things be left private, or do you like when artists pour their hearts out? Let us know in the comments below.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Marina’s latest album “Electra Heart” is a bit autobiographical. With some heavy song titles like “Primadonna,” “Bubblegum Bitch “or “Power and Control,” it’s pretty obvious she didn’t have the best outcome in her last relationship. Luckily, our very own @Jordans_life was there to awkwardly inquire about her personal life and find out how it’s reflected in her music.
Don’t forget, she’s our Artist of the Week too!
After some secret messages were exchanged through their music, rumours started circulating about a potential romance between Adam Young and Taylor Swift. We all know nothing really happened around Valentine’s Day but we’re still curious about what exactly went down. We asked Owl City about his musical flirting with Taylor Swift and a rather controversial blog post about changing his musical style.
You’d think The Wanted would be bombarded by so-called “screamy” fans to the point where they’d avoid going out at night. But apparently the guys still have time to party on weekends and after gigs. @Jordans_Life talked to them about where they go at night, crazy fans and their so-called “normal” life.

Click here to watch part one: where the guys address rumours and Siva’s testicles (yup!)
We’ve all read strange things about The Wanted. For whatever reason, the press likes to create fantastic stories about how Max is celibate, Jay is a vegan and the list goes on. That’s why @jordans_life thought it would be appropriate to make up a rumour for our website ANDPOP. As we expected the guys went above and beyond our expectations and created a story about Siva’s balls and Italian spices. Perfect.

One of the scariest parts of working with a deadly force like Randy Couture is you never know when he’s going to hurt someone. For example, while shooting The Expendables 2 he actually knocked out a stunt man. Furthermore, during this interview he nearly chokes out Jordan for looking him in the eye. It’s understandable given the incredible talent in the movie. After all, when you’re acting a long Chuck Norris you have to be prepared for certain death at all times. We asked actors Terry Crews (you probably know him from White Girls or the Old Spice commercials) and UFC champ Randy Couture about their favourite Chuck Norris joke.

ANDPOP is live streaming an interview with music duo Karmin TODAY, in partnership with YouTube. @Jordans_Life will ask artists Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan all your burning questions in an interview and they’ll also perform in front of the lucky winners of our Karmin contest.
Make sure to tune in tonight at 7 pm ET for the live interview and performance on ANDPOP.com!
Rita Ora’s such a fashionista, we just can’t imagine her wearing hideous matching tracksuits at 13 to get attention from her first love (who ended up being a total dud). She sat down with @Jordans_Life to talk about her first beer and the craziest party she ever went to. At 16, she ended up throwing a flat party at her family home and sh*t went CRAY. Well, you can’t blame her considering her dad owned a wicked pub and had surround sound speakers.
Question: Do professional athletes or rappers party harder? According to rapper Mac Miller, athletes go pretty hard. He told @Jordans_Life that back when he was starting his career, he went to a birthday party for NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire. Think tequila, wild girls, Steve Nash and Jason Richardson doing the Hulk. Mac also talked about loving Canada — if not only because of our lax attitude at the border.

Would you ever consider putting Mario Lopez and a bunch of snakes in the same sentence? Cobra Starship would. Gabe and Alex chat with @Jordans_life about their new single “#1Nite” and what better idea was it to actually add in the hashtag, for Twitter — duh! Gabe mentions that the music video has a road trip vibe with My Name Is Kay (who features on the track) that was influenced by one of his favourite 90s movies, “True Romance.”

In our very first episode of our new show called “Way Back When,” Hoodie Allen tells Jordan (@Jordans_life) about his experiences at Jewish sleep away camp. Apparently he did pretty well with the ladies during his teenage years. He also gives us some insight into the first time he got drunk and the best prank he pulled in high school. Tell us about your first kiss in the comments section below!

Hoodie Allen is a great example of how the music industry is changing for the better. He’s proof that you don’t need a major record deal to sell out shows. In this interview @Jordans_life talks to Hoodie about running his own business and the girls in Toronto.
“It’s a relatively new feeling where we’re headlining all these shows and they’re sold out and it’s like ‘oh, these people came to see me,’” he said. “It’s an awesome feeling, it’s great.”

Let’s be honest if you’ve ever listened to Ed Sheeran’s music, it’s pretty easy to understand why he’s becoming so popular. He’s written with One Direction, Kanye West and some other REALLY famous people. @Jordans_life got some help from @andPOP’s friends on twitter to ask: what do you buy when you become famous?
