Johnny Depp. Recently single and was voted America’s favourite movie star once again, so to commemorate the folks over at Huffington Post dug up this Entertainment Tonight footage of the eccentric actor.

It’s a fresh faced 25-year-old at his first interview with Entertainment Tonight, he talks about the “strange” experiences with fame shortly after starting his role on 21 Jump Street. That’s right kids – Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are doing a remake.

“You don’t expect people to be there, waiting for you, it’s very new to me,” he says of walking the red carpet. “I’m dealing with it the best way i know how, which is right now, I try to meet as many people as I can and when a situation like they have downstairs with all the kids, I try to sign as many things as I can, I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings or make them feel like I don’t have time. But it’s very strange time because they’re saying, ‘Please sign this, please sign this,’ and then I have these guard guys pulling me, saying, C’mon, we got to go, we got to go,’ so it’s a little strange to be in that situation.”

Like every other year before, 2011 had a roster of idiotic celebrity moments.  A lot of stories that broke this year had us scratching our heads and rolling our eyes as we begged “what the hell is going on?” We have counted down the ten craziest pop culture stories that deserve a major facepalm.

10. The show “Playboy Club” on NBC

This cheesy and poorly acted show starring Amber Heard and Dean Cain didn’t last more than three or so episodes on NBC. Thank God!

9. Actress sues IMDB over age

An actress going by the name “Jane Doe” sued internet movie database IMDB and its parent company Amazon.com for $1 million over revealing her real age (40). She claims her age is a liability in Hollywood (no kidding!).

8. Alec Baldwin kicked off plane over Words With Friends

The veteran actor of “30 Rock” says he was booted from an American Airlines flight last month because he refused to stop playing Words With Friends on his phone. The airline then went on to slam the actor in many reports. AA now knows the title for Stupidest Reason to Kick Somebody Off a Plane. Congratulations!

7. Ashton Kutcher mis-tweets information

Weeks before Demi announced she’s divorcing the young actor, Ashton sparked outrage after tweeting misinformation regarding the Joe Paterno scandal. Ashton was apparently unaware that Paterno was charged with molesting young boys when he tweeted his upset over his firing from Penn State. Ashton, embarrassed, gave full control of his Twitter account to his management team.

6. Johnny Depp compares photo shoots to rape

Kids aren’t the only ones that say the darndest things. Celebrities often get caught with their foot in their mouths. Take Johnny Depp for instance. In an interview with Vanity Fair this year, he said photo shoots are “a lot like getting raped”.

5. Courtney Stodden has ultrasound on national television

Courtney, one of those “famous for not doing anything” chicks like Paris and Kim, went on “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers” prove to everyone her breasts aren’t fake. The 17-year-old, engaged to a 51-year-old Doug Hutchinson, got an ultrasound in front of the television audience, much like Tyra Banks did in 2005.

4. Lindsay Lohan sent to morgue duty

Lindsay really needs to live by that manta “check yourself before you wreck yourself” because this year, she found herself violating her probation more than once. In the end, she wasn’t sentenced to jail, but she did have to report to morgue duty which had her cleaning up fecal matter and all that fun stuff off the floors.

3. Kim Kardashian divorces after 72 days 

Most of us thought it wouldn’t last long but we didn’t expect Kim and Kris Humphries to separate that fast. Kim ranked in about $10 million off the televised “fairytale wedding” this past September.

2. Mariah Yeater accuses Justin Bieber of getting her pregnant

Mariah kind of became a household name in October but for all the wrong reasons. The 20-year-old girl accused the singer of having sex with her after a concert and getting her pregnant. After many lawsuits were filed and DNA tests were taken, the whole world now knows Justin’s not the father. Phew!

1. Charlie Sheen’s public meltdown

There’s never been a breakdown quite like Charlie Sheen’s. Back in January, his show “Two and a Half Men” went on hiatus so that Charlie could go to rehab for his drug addictions. Shortly after, Charlie began dissing the show’s creator and then it all spiraled downwards from there. Who could forget his infamous “Winning!” catchphrase?

No word on how Miley Cyrus is celebrating her big 19th birthday today, we know exactly what she was doing yesterday: getting a tattoo removed.

According to the Hollywood Life, Miley was seen at an L.A. dermatologist’s office that specializes in laser removal. Since she has nine tattooes already, we’re going to go ahead and assume Miley’s just bored of looking at one of them already.

Miley, like many young girls, has a long list of questionable tattoos including sappy words like ‘karma’ and ‘love’ and symbols like a cross and a heart. This young starlet obviously doesn’t think before she inks. At least Miley has so far refrained from getting her boyfriend’s name tattooed on her body.

Here are three celebrities with regrettable tattooes all done in the name of love.

Angelina tattooed her boyfriend’s name on her arm only to have it laser removed once they parted ways. Luckily, she never got one for Brad, meaning she probably learned her lesson.

Johnny Depp is another celeb with a history of tattoo removal. When he was in love with Winona Ryder in the ’90s, he tattooed “Winona forever” on his arm, only to change it to “wino forever” (whatever that means) years later after their separation.

Eva Longoria also got matching tattoos of her wedding date with her then-husband Tony Parker. When she divorced him over his infidelity, she joked about the tattoo, saying “I’ll probably ink the divorce date under it!”

Or at least that’s what I’m assuming Johnny Depp was drinking before eating concrete.  I didn’t graduate from the Los Angeles community college of celebrity security but I’m pretty sure Johnny Depp wasn’t the only one at fault here. His manager, handler or whatever you want to call him is really the one to blame. In an attempt to save the fragile and seemingly medicated actor, he ends up body slamming him on the curb. What’s really funny is watching him trying and scrape Johnny Depp off the pavement and resurrect the actor like Weekend Bernie’s. Thank you TMZ  for yet another glorious moment in Hollywood history caught on video.

The new ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ which stars Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, opened big abroad this weekend.

The pirate-action flick will open in 4,155 North American theaters on Friday, already having debuted in 70 countries. Right now, the flick is scoring huge in the first 10 countries it opened in, posting $18.5M. This tops the $12.3M that ‘Pirates 3′ made.

So far, ‘Pirates 4′ has the biggest opening day ever in Russia with an industry record-breaker of RBL130M/$5M, beating the previous high set by ‘Twilight’ (RBL122M). France took in €2.1M/$3.1M, while very strong starts occurred in the UK, Italy, and Sweden.

Disney is looking for a big global first weekend, with 65% of the foreign markets opening before the U.S and Canada opens Friday. In total, ‘Pirates 4′ is debuting in more than 70 countries for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

People are crazy about ‘Pirates,’ and more specifically, about Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. I personally stopped watching after the second one, but this one sounds like it may be worth checking out. It’ll definitely perform well here, it’s a huge action blockbuster.

Steven Tyler and Johnny Depp are writing a song together, reveals Billboard.

Depp has confirmed that he and Tyler are hard at work on a new track.

“We’ve been hanging out here and there,” the actor says. ”He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.”

Tyler, the Aerosmith frontman, said last week that he and the actor have been collaborating in his ‘American Idol’ downtime. “He asked me, he said, ‘I want you to come over’ — he’s got a studio here in L.A. — ‘and see if I’m playing “Seasons of Wither” right.’ I said, ‘Y’know what, Johnny? No matter how you play it, it’s gonna be right. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Tyler also said that he would want Depp to play him in a movie version of his life. When asked about the hypoethetical casting, Depp said, “I’ll give it a shot. Why not?”

I never knew Depp was into songwriting, but the duo seems to oddly fit together and I would think they have the same taste. Can’t wait to hear what this ends up with!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 has been turned in by Terry Rossio, the co-writer of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Rossio turned the script in for a fifth possible movie in the franchise. However, this is Rossio’s first solo effort writing a Pirates film without the help from Ted Elliot. Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer is reportedly still interested in continuing the franchise and making a fifth film. Bruckheimer has also apparently approached Rob Marshall to direct the  project although there is no word of his decision.

Johnny Depp says that he hasn’t seen the screenplay yet. Perhaps Jack Sparrow is getting a little tired of his oceanic debauchery.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premieres next week in France at the Cannes Film Festival. It will have its wide release on May 20 in 3D and IMAX.

This promo tour is getting a little out of hand!

Pop sensation Justin Bieber showed up at a press conference for Johnny Depp’s latest film Rango, interrupting the proceedings to chat with the actor. Coincidentally, Depp had just finished talking about how his children were huge fans of the pint-sized star who treated the baby Depps to a performance in Miami last December.

“I’m a Belieber,” Depp laughed as he shook hands with the Biebs. Justin returned the compliment, explaining that he was a “huge fan” and wanted to support the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Hmm, we’re pretty sure Johnny Depp doesn’t need any extra support, Justin! It probably would have felt more sincere if you didn’t edit in a post-video bumper promoting your new 3D movie…

First an appearance on SNL, then The Daily Show, and now random press conferences? The self-promo is getting a little annoying, Biebs!

When Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie confirmed their starring roles in director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s latest film, most fans and critics were simply delighted. ‘The Tourist’ quickly became one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year as two of Hollywood’s biggest and most sought after actors would finally share the big screen.

But with the release of the movie trailer, my hopes for a Depp-Jolie semi-masterpiece were quickly and easily squandered.  The promotional teaser is bland, unoriginal and forgettable. The film itself, unfortunately, makes a poor job at proving it’s more than a mindless romantic-comedy-action-thriller. Yet, for some, perhaps that’s more than enough.

Jolie stars as Elise Ward, a mysterious Englishwoman with impeccable fashion taste and elegance.  She is the lover of Alexander Pearce, a criminal with a target on his back due to stealing $2.3 billion from a gangster. The movie starts off with Elise receiving a note from Pearce in a cafe in Paris, where she is instructed to board the train to Venice. On board, Elise must choose a man of similar height and build to Pearce to serve as a decoy. Cue in Depp who plays Frank Tupelo, a seemingly innocent disheveled math teacher from Wisconsin. Upon their arrival to Venice, Elise invites Frank to her hotel room where a lacklustre kiss results into Frank making a morning run for his life.  Indeed, people now assume Frank is Pearce–a financial genius who also altered his appearance with $20 million worth of cosmetic surgery.

Quite a captivating story, isn’t it? Oh, barely.

The film moves too slowly and the story line never accomplishes its goal of truly intriguing the audience. There’s far too little action, yet surprisingly more humour than one might expect.  And while it’s a bit refreshing to see Depp stray away from his usual flamboyant roles (which he excels at all too well), Jolie hardly steps too far away from her Salt or Wanted-like role, which is just too repetitive and too common now, even for her.  Donnersmarck capitalizes on Jolie’s ability to pull off the femme fatale role effortlessly and perhaps the director relies on this a bit too much.  Throughout the film, the camera constantly lingers on Jolie’s flawless features for a moment too long. Yeah we get it, she’s stunning. The subtle filming technique suddenly comes off as creepy and a tad odd, leaving audiences to feel they are invading too much of Elise/Jolie’s personal space.

While the movie does manage to have its enjoyable moments with its stunning Venice views and somewhat comical one-liners, its easily forgettable and painstakingly predictable plot might make viewers wonder why Depp and Jolie even bothered with such a project.

While Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Rum Diary are set to be released in 2011, Johnny Depp just can’t seem to get enough of mingling with the strange and bizarre. According to celebrity-gossip.net, Depp was seen wandering the streets of London, England Wednesday night with his pal Keith Richards. Depp and Richards were both wearing fedoras and looking conspicuously like pirates.

Supposedly the character of Captain Jack Sparrow was based on Richard’s actual persona. Depp has exemplified a true knack at embodying deranged characters on screen from his early role as Edward Scissorhands to portraying the late and great Ed Wood. Apparently during the filming of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Depp  attained the ability to play Hunter Thompson better than Thompson could play himself. Depp will reprise his roll as the eccentric Dr. Gonzo in The Rum Diary.

Depp has displayed an obvious fascination with enigmatic people. He is currently working on a documentary that chronicles Richard’s wild life. However, is another Pirates of the Caribbean in the works? Judging by the popularity of the franchise a 5th film seems likely. So, is Depp hanging out with Richards to further his research on the beloved rum swilling vagabond character by leaching off the pirate himself? Surely Richards has a few more tricks up his sleeve.

According to a source quoted on perezhilton.com, the mugger quickly changed his mind when he realized he was dealing with Captain Jack Sparrow.

The source said: “It was an extremely scary moment. This guy looked off his head. Johnny looked him straight in the eyes and told him to back off. The guy was OK. He looked at Johnny and said, ‘I ain’t stealing from Captain Jack’ and put the bottle down. Johnny gave him a few bucks and told him to straighten up his life.”

Too juicy to be true? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, we dig the creativity of it.

“Alice in Wonderland” has proven that its strong box office performance last week is no fluke.

The film earned an additional $62 Million last week, making its total box office gross $208 Million, according to Hollywood Insider. 13 percent of that money came from the IMAX 3-D screens.

“Alice in Wonderland” has become Tim Burton’s highest grossing film, beating out 2005′s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” No bet the executives at Disney are very happy they produced this film.

Johnny Depp and his partner Vanessa Paradis prefer not to shower, choosing to stay ”unruly” whenever they can, reports Perez Hilton. Depp, who has been promoting his upcoming film Alice in Wonderland, says he and Paradis are happy to just live peacefully.

“We have a great place in the South of France,” he said. “It’s a little hamlet – only 45 acres – and I don’t do anything. I’ve not left the property for three months at a time. I literally just wake up, go out, check the garden and see the vegetables growing. It’s a pristine existence in terms of simplicity. There’s no talk of movies or work and, infinitely more important, the telephone never rings. It really is a beautiful, simple life.”

In case the South of France ever proves too stressful for the Pirates of the Caribbean star, he’s purchased his own island in the Caribbean.

“Like everything else in my life it wasn’t planned, it just kind of happened. I went on vacation to escape with my kiddies and my girl and someone said that there was an island down the road for sale. I said, ‘Let’s go see it.’ I looked at it, I walked on it and I was done. It had to be. It came at the perfect moment. The island provides me with simplicity and somewhere I can go where no one is looking at me or pointing a camera or a finger at me. I can just be. When we’re there we do absolutely nothing.

“I feel I’m not getting photographed by the paparazzi enough,” the quirky actor added, presumably sarcastically. “So I figure I’ll go and hang out in Venice with Brad and Angelina.”

Depp began filming his next film, The Tourist, with Angelina Jolie this week. The film is expected to be released early next year.

Alice in Wonderland, starring Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway, and directed by Tim Burton, will hit theatres March 5.

Angelina Jolie is breathtaking enough to stop people in their tracks – literally. According to People.com, Jolie caused quite the stir in a busy Paris train station early Thursday while filming her new flick The Tourist.

Thousands of onlookers stopped to take pictures or just gaze as the beautiful actress shot a scene that took about 90 minutes in the busy and infamous Gare de Lyon train station. The 34-year-old actress of mother of six smiled and called “Bonjour!” in between takes to the crowd of star struck onlookers as she navigated crowds, scanned the departures list and hurried to a platform, looking elegant in her wardrobe for the film. The shoot consisted of coordinating a group of about 200 extras, along with the regular rush of train passengers.

After shooting in the train station, Jolie switched location to an apartment for the afternoon followed by a lunch with sons Maddox, 8 and Pax, 5.  Daughters Zahara, 5 and Shiloh, 3, were not left out as she had a lunch with them previously on Tuesday.

Jolie is impressive wherever she goes, as bystanders of the shoot had only positive things to say about the star.

“She was very nice to everyone, very patient,” said a restaurant employee. “No fuss, and she is trés Jolie.”

Jolie not only stopped traffic, but business, as an employee of the station ignored a line of customers in her coffee bar to snap rare photos of her own. “She’s much more beautiful in person. I can’t believe how beautiful,” she said.

The Tourist, also starring Johnny Depp is about an American tourist who is used by an Interpol agent is used by an Interpol agent attempting to flush out a criminal, with whom she had an affair. The film is to be released in 2011.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s company Appian Way, in conjunction with Warner Bros., is producing a film based on the television series The Twilight Zone, reports Variety.

Rand Ravich, who penned the television series Life and the movie Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, will write the film. Ravich previously directed Johnny Depp in The Astronaut’s Wife.

Stephen Spielberg was among a number of directors who worked on the first Twilight Zone movie in 1983. That version starred Dan Aykroyd and John Lithgow.

There’s something about certain male actors over the age of 40 (but have yet to hit the 50 mark) that makes ladies and men of all ages goo-goo-gaa-gaa for them.

You know who these men are. They are the actors that straight men will shamelessly admit that even they would fantasize about these stars.

These men are charming, attractive and, most importantly, talented.

So whether you are fifteen years their junior or ten years their senior, here are five (although there are many more) contemporary actors who still capture our hearts and make us blush like little schoolgirls.

 5) Brad Pitt:

As you may know, I am not Pitt’s biggest fan when it comes to his personal life. But I will admire the man for his movies. From his diverse on-screen characters such as the irresistible Tristan in ‘Legends of the Fall’ to the gluttonous Rusty in the Ocean’s movie franchise, Pitt is more than just a pretty face.

But while many consider Pitt as overrated in the looks department, the same cannot be said about his acting chops. As you may have noticed, Pitt is given the same amount of appreciation for his performances in films as negative credit for his part in the entire Aniston-Jolie “feud.”

In other words, in either position, his role is underrated.

 4) Patrick Dempsey:

Also known as McDreamy—a name that pretty much summarizes this actor. From his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ to his performance as the sweetheart/good-guy in both ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and ‘Enchanted,’ this 43-year-old actor appears to resemble his wholesome figure in real life. Even though Dempsey is married (for almost ten years) with three children, he makes single women wish he unattached and married women wish he was their husband.

While it’s likely that Dempsey is not as sweet in real life as he seems on-screen, the fact that the actor was not afraid to reveal his Dyslexia a few years ago makes him more alluring. Or perhaps Dempsey just played smart and knew he would win over more women for his brutal openness.

Heck, either way, I love him more for his honesty.

 3) George Clooney:

It would be impossible to write this blog without mentioning Clooney. While his more recent roles are somewhat imitations of one another (quirky, oddball yet charming), he’s still too irresistible to avoid.

When he isn’t nominated or winning an award for movies like ‘Syriana’, ‘Good Night and Good Luck’ and ‘Michael Clayton,’ he’s involved in charity—most notably trying to help the people of Darfur. He’s an artist and a philanthropist.

Just perfect.

2) Johnny Depp:

Known for his choice of roles that border eccentric and downright freaky (Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd), Depp surely knows how to capture movie audiences and critics. Even with poor movie choices like ‘Secret Window,’ Depp still managed to receive praise for his role. He’s captivating and mysterious—the atypical Hollywood actor.  It’s easy to admit that, without Depp, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie saga would neither be as successful or as entertaining.

 1) Robert Downey Jr.:

After battling a lengthy addiction to drugs, some might say that it’s amazing that Robert Downey Jr. is as successful as he is today.

Even when he was critically acclaimed for his roles in ‘Less Than Zero’ and ‘Chaplin’ (in which he received an Academy Award nom for his performance) Downey Jr. still never starred in any true “Blockbuster hit”—until 2008. Both ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Tropic Thunder’ put Downey Jr. back on the acting radar.

While his peers admire him and critics rave about him, fans adore Downey Jr. for his rawness and vulnerability. Even as a brilliant actor, back in the day, he was damaged due to his drug use (a quality that now somehow makes celebrities even more famous. Kate Moss anyone?).

In the past couple of years, those who refused to hire Downey Jr. due to his troubled past (which included arrests and rehab stints) are now likely kicking themselves where the sun don’t shine.

Kick away my friends.

In his most recent role in the film ‘The Soloist,’ Downey Jr. shows why he’s here to stay. Undoubtedly, Downey Jr. is the movie’s heart and soul—proving that, damaged or not, he still has what it takes to shine.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” director Gore Verbinski has jumped off deck and will not be directing the fourth installment of the Disney film, according to Variety.

“I had a fantastic time bringing ‘Pirates’ to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry [Bruckheimer], Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team,” Verbinski said to Variety. “I’m looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future.” 

Instead, Verbinski is set to work on “Bioshock,” based on the video game, according to Variety.The game tells the story of a man stranded in an underwater city.

Johnny Depp fans can relax because the actor is supposed to reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. However, it doesn’t look like all of Depp’s cast-mates will be returning to the franchise. 

Keira Knightley has previously told MTV News that she’d like to do “different things” but outlined she had an “amazing journey” with the past three “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.

There has been no official word on whether Orlando Bloom will be returning in the movies as Will Turner.

Johnny Depp will be the highest paid actor in history after the fourth instalment of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Reports vary, but Depp is said to be banking between $56 and $61 million for the upcoming film.

Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will reportedly not be involved with the film, or the big payday.

Tom Hanks is second, being paid $29 million for the coming “Da Vinci Code” sequel.

Cap’n Jack is back. The witty, rum drinking, sword fighting pirate character played by A-list actor Johnny Depp, will be back for more adventures in a fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film.

According to Variety, the 45-year-old actor has signed on for a fourth installment for the Disney franchise which has earned a combined $2.6 billion at the box office. However, the film is believed to be focusing on solely Jack Sparrow, as co-stars Orlando Bloom (Will Turner) and Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swan) have insisted that they’re finished with the franchise.

As a result, the movie which is supposedly set to start production in 2011, will likely consist of Sparrow setting sail on his own story line, possibly for the Fountain of Youth.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are teaming up once again.

Disney announced Wednesday that Depp will play the Mad Hatter in Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” which will be a live-action/CG reworking of the classic Lewis Carroll tale.

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska (HBO’s “In Treatment”) had previously been cast as Alice, while Matt Lucas (“Little Britain USA”) will play the dual roles of Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Burton is shooting the film in 3-D and will combine performance-capture imagery, similar to last year’s “Beowulf,” with live-action footage.

The film is set for a March 2010 release date.
