Tony Bennett’s comeback season has been luring for several years, it continues to reign with his John Mayer collaboration on “One For My Baby (And One More for the Road)”

It’s a tasteful cover of a classic,  but what is most fascinating is their mutual love and respect for the music and eachother. The clip is a part of Bennett’s upcoming DVD special that also features his duets with Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga, Willie Nelson, Michael Buble and many others.

Bennett’s follow up to his triple-Grammy winning “Duets I” album is closer to his jazz and classic repertoire and also features one of the last recordings and music videos from Amy Winehouse, “Body and Soul,” before her death on July 23, 2011. It has plenty of surprises like Lady Gaga taking on “The Lady is a Tramp.”

“Duets II: The Great Performance” DVD is set for release on March 6.

It’s the winter season and that means celebrities think it’s justified to roam around Hollywood in a ridiculously cheesy Christmas sweater. Said sweater does have it’s benefits. We wish her a quick and full recovery!

After canceling her U.S. tour in October because of hemorrhaging due to a benign polyp in her vocal chord, proving the throat cancer rumors untrue, Adele has had laser surgery on Monday to stop the bleeding. The singer is expected to make a full recovery.

From her singles, “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You,” alone, it is easy to see what a talented gift this British singer-songwriter has. We hope that Adele is back on her feet in no time, making her third record which is sure to be filled with her heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies.

Adele isn’t the only singer that will be put on vocal rest due to a polyp.

It  was announced at the beginning of November that country singer Keith Urban is also set to undergo throat surgery later this month due to a polyp on his vocal chords. Following his surgery, Urban says that he will be forced to postpone or cancel any of his appearances which require him to sing more than one song, and will be rescheduled in 2012.

Singer John Mayer also underwent surgery in October, due to a granuloma just above his vocal chord, and will be on vocal rest for the rest of he month.

“I should be frustrated but I can’t seem to stop thinking about beautiful things… I never thought I’d be wishing I could do what I love again,” Mayer posted on his blog the day of his surgery. “The only difference between now and when I was 18 is that now I have this beautiful, meaningful record waiting for me when I can sing it.”

When you thought you couldn’t get John Mayer to shut up about his latest conquests, the kind of Verbal Diarrhea gets struck with granuloma just above his vocal chord, thus making him shut up for a month.

John updated everyone on his blog the other day, explaining because of his recent throat surgery, he has to postpone the release of his album Born and Raised. He also has to be on complete vocal rest for the next 30 days. Somewhere, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston are having a big pow wow.

The 34-year-old singer-songwriter is known to talk out of his ass in the media. He’s pretty much made fun of every girl he’s ever dated, whether famous or not. It seems letting his bluesy rock music speak for himself just isn’t enough. Until now, I suppose.

John Mayer’s Back To You Fund has donated $15,000 to Family Centers’ Stamford CARES program. The organization provides support for HIV and AIDs patients.

“With fewer and fewer state and federal dollars being allocated to HIV/AIDS education and support, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to provide our clients the service they desperately need,” Bob Arnold, president of Family Centers, said in a release.

The Back To You Fund receives a percentage of money John earns from his live shows.

John Mayer has cancelled shows and delayed his next album after announcing he has granuloma. Granuloma is an unflamed nodule near his vocal chords.

“Born and Raised is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn’t finish singing on several of the tracks,” John wrote on his Tumblr page about his upcoming album.

“This means the record will be released next year instead of this fall or winter,” he added.

John Mayer took on his Tumblr this afternoon to announce that he will be cancelling a series of upcoming high-profile performances, including Ryan Seacrest’s “iheartradio” Music Festival in Las Vegas and a Tony Bennett concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

He also goes on to acknowledge the release of his upcoming album, “Born and Raised” will be moved to next year. As we reported in May, the album was originally scheduled for an October release.

“Hi everyone,

After several months of going week to week monitoring and hoping to correct the condition, I am forced to cancel my upcoming singing engagements due to something next to my vocal cords called a granuloma. 

I’m bummed to have to bow out of both the iheartradio Music Festival in Las Vegas and an appearance with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles. I know there were people depending on me to be there and I’m sorry that I can’t be on those stages. 

‘Born and Raised’ is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn’t finish singing on several of the tracks. This means the record will be released next year instead of this fall or winter. 

This is a temporary setback, though I’m not sure how long or short a period of time it will be. I’ve got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear. Until then I’ll be spending time writing and composing more music and kicking an empty soup can around the West Village. 

I’m looking forward to seeing you again soon. Until then take good care.

Mayer will be featured on a duet of “One for My Baby (And One For The Road) with Tony Bennett on “Duets II”, which is due out September 20.

John Mayer is joining Tony Bennett on stage in an effort to fight hunger among older Americans. The concert is called Drive to End Hunger.

The event is being put on by AARP and AARP Foundation. It will take place September 24th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Carrie Underwood, Diana Krall, and Stevie Wonder will also be joining Tony Bennett.

Now that Jennifer Aniston has a new boyfriend, John Mayer has some regrets about letting her get away. Us Weekly is printing a story about it.

John Mayer was in recovery after a dangerous addiction to Twitter. But he is OK now.

Mayer told Rolling Stone, “I realized about a year ago that I couldn’t have a complete thought anymore.”

As for why? Mayer says, “I was a tweetaholic.” Hey, admitting it is the first step!

Mayer explains, “I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”

Now that he is recovered, Mayer has a new approach to his music. ”Here are the rules for recording this record: No drum machines, no loops, no keyboards to start out with, no excuses, no breaks, no laptops, no nothing.”

When you get recognition from John Mayer, you are doing something right. London, Ontario native Ken Yates is a student at Berklee College in Boston where he is studying music, who has received that recognition.

Within his program at Berklee, Yates had the opportunity to spend time with Mayer and get some one on one mentoring, reports OurLondon.ca.

“John Mayer went to Berklee for a year,” Yates explains. “In March he came back again for a day and I was lucky enough to be picked…to do a private Master’s class with John, which was amazing, and we got to play a song for John.”

Since then, John Mayer has promoted the song Yates played for him, “I Don’t Wanna Fall in Love.” He recently posted about the song on his website.

That’s a pretty awesome accomplishment for a guy from small town London, Ontario.

According to Twitter, Tumblr and teen girls international, John Mayer has announced that his new album will be titled “Born and Raised” and will be released this October.

Over the past few months, Mayer has maintained a low-profile following his over-exposed “douchebaggery” that spawned from the release of his last effort, “Battle Studies” in 2009. His decision to withdraw from the glossy pages of People and shenanigans over at TMZ included the deletion of his popular Twitter account. The idea behind this was reportedly  to reconnect with himself as a songwriter and expand his boundaries past the 140-character limitations.

However, he has made numerous surprise appearances to test his new material in random venues such as Eddie’s Attic, Greenwich Village Underground and the Hotel Cafe since November. These venues, especially Eddie’s Attics, were places that Mayer started his career over a decade ago. YouTube videos from these shows have resulted in strong reviews from both critics and fans, as they deliver the formally abandoned acoustic-songwriter side of Mayer that skipped out on the last two blues-heavy albums.

Mayer has been playing at countless charity functions as well, including Tiger Wood’s ‘Tiger-Jam’ with Keith Urban and Matt’s Promise Benefit. While including popular songs like “Waiting on the World to Change” and “Daughters” in his set list, he has sampled strong harmonica and acoustic driven songs that will potentially be on the upcoming album or for a rarity collection. John Mayer was stopped by TMZ camera guys where they started talking about sports and LeBron James. It turns out John is not that big of a sports fan.

“I play music … we don’t like sports … we got beat up by guys like LeBron James.”

At a Nashville Pride performance on Sunday, Vanessa Carlton shared a big secret with the audience.

“I’ve never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman,” Carlton told the audience of 1,800 screaming fans.

The singer 29-year-old singer pointed out that in Ordinary Day, her first hit single, she continually changed the pronouns from “him” to “her” to keep her sexuality ambiguous, reported Perez Hilton.

“The lyrics to Ordinary Day could be about a boy, girl, tranny – whatever!”

In the past, Carlton has been romantically entangled with the smooth talking John Mayer and Third Eye Blind lead singer Stephan Jenkins back in 2007.

Carlton’s announcement comes only two months after True Blood leading lady Anna Paquin announced her bisexuality through a public service announcement promoting equality.

Taylor Swift was not inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, however she was recognized by the organization for her tremendous talents.

Swift was awarded the Hal David Starlight Award reports PopEater, which was presented to her by John Mayer. Mayer said during the ceremony, “She’s no accident,” he said. ”You could put her in a time machine in any era and she would have a hit record.”

Mayer added, “Don’t confuse everybody loving one thing as hype. Sometimes that’s everyone agreeing that it’s fabulous.”

John Mayer should perhaps think before he talks, and stick to playing his guitar after his controversial comments in a Playboy magazine interview, in which he used the “N” word, among other comments. Subsequently, he doesn’t have many fans from the hip-hop community at this time.

MTVnews.com reports that Mayer apologized yesterday for some of the content of his interview, where he freely talked about sex, former girlfriends Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, and made comments that some believe to be as racist. He described his penis as being “sort of like a white supremacist” since he doesn’t sleep with black women and has a lack of “a hood pass”.

The whole debacle has caused quite the stir on Twitter, where many celebs from the hip-hop community have tweeted their thoughts on the whole matter.

The Roots’ was perhaps one of the only who seemed to be in a forgiving mood. “Hmmm. I’ll give Mayer a benefit of the doubt (remember how people misinterpreted my photo?) and assume that was a punch line gone awry,” Referring to a photo of an apparently racist lunch menu at the NBC café that ?uest posted as a joke for Black History Month. The drummer then added, “LOL then again on 2nd read … can’t wait to see spin on this. I swear his #1 demographic is the white dude black women would do in a second.”

Talib Kweli wasn’t having it and tweeted, “My man John Mayer love the taste of his own foot.”

Joell Ortiz tweeted, “John Mayer will get off the hook just like Asher Roth did. Throw money, a lame apology and some good PR at us and we forget. … John Mayer should not open his mouth unless he is singing.”

That is exactly what the 32-year-old singing sensation has already started doing. He wrote this apology yesterday via Twitter, in hopes that fans would show some sympathy: “I am sorry that I used the ['N'] word. And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. He added, “I will never say it again.” Well, we should hope so.

He then added to his apology at a concert last night in Nashville, as he broke down onstage, stopped playing and told the crowd, “I quit the media game. I’m out. I’m done. I just want to play my guitar.”

“I decided that I would try to be as clever as possible all the time and I did that at the expense of the people that I love, and that feels absolutely terrible,” Mayer continued.

John Mayer is back with a new album and a 2010 tour, according to the musician’s website, johnmayer.com.

Mayer’s new album, Battle Studies, is due out on Nov. 17. Mayer will then go on a tour to support the album in the Winter of 2010. Mayer has already released one single from the new album, called “Who Says.” Physical and digital presale orders for the album are being accepted until Nov. 10.

Mayer will also be playing a select few upcoming CD release concerts, including one on Nov. 24 at Toronto’s Sound Academy. This small tour also includes stops in Australia and New York.

With a new album due out in November, John Mayer has announced two charity shows that will take place during the holiday season, according to johnmayer.com. Mayer will perform with the John Mayer Trio, which is made up of himself, bassist Pino Palladino, and drummer Steve Jordan.

The Trio will be playing at San Diego’s Copley Symphony Hall on December 29, and at Las Vegas’ The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on New Year’s Eve. All ticket proceeds for both shows will go to Military Outreach Ministry Camp Pendleton, a not-for-profit organization that supports young military families, and the Veterans Health Research Institute, an institute that investigates such issues as the causes and best treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and other war-related injuries.

Ticket prices for the San Diego show are $60.50 (US), and prices for the Las Vegas show range from $96.00 – $226.00 (US). Tickets for both shows went on sale on Saturday. Mayor Hawthorne and The County will be opening for Mayer.

Mayer’s new album, Battle Studies, will be released on November 17. The much-anticipated fourth studio album is a follow-up to 2006′s successful project, Continuum, which generated such hits as “Waiting On the World to Change” and “Slow Dancing In a Burning Room.” To date, Mayer has sold nearly 12.5 million albums worldwide.

The seven-time Grammy Award winner co-produced the new album, which will be released by Columbia Records. A North American tour is currently in the works, due to kick off in early 2010.

“Where Continuum was R&B and Soul, Battle Studies was written with the timelessness of Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young in mind,” Mayer says in a Columbia Records press release on PR Newswire. “The melodies and message are concise and from-the-gut with the efficiency of simplicity.”

The record’s first single is called, “Who Says,” and the new album also promises a collaboration track, “Half of My Heart,” with rising country star Taylor Swift. Who needs Kanye, anyways?
