Amy Winehouse’s Body To Be Cremated

British media outlets are reporting Amy Winehouse’s body wull be cremated. This is somewhat unusual as Amy is Jewish, and Jewish tradition forbids cremation of bodies.

Amy will be cremated at the Golders Green crematorium. Her family is also having a service at a local synagogue today.

Rick Sanchez Blogs That Jon Stewart Is Not a ‘Bigot’

Remember former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez? Remember him making anti semitic comments targeting Jon Stewart, which resulted in him being fired from CNN? Well Rick has changed his tune about Stewart, writing the following in his personal blog.

“I was on receiving end of Jon’s jokes for a long, long time. I was thin-skinned enough to think that I was a target due to my ethnicity. And I was wrong,” writes Sanchez.

“Jon’s not a racist or a bigot — not even close. The insinuation that he is any of those things, hiding under the cover of comedy, is just plain wrong. The assertion that Jon ‘gets away’ with jokes because FOX classifies him as a liberal, and that a conservative would get eviscerated for saying the same things, doesn’t hold water. Unless we’re ready to classify Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh as comedians rather than pundits, anchors or hosts on a news network, then any comparison to Jon is a false one.

“Jon’s goal every night is to inform and illuminate, and to be funny while doing so. Whatever Jon’s political leanings, he is an equal-opportunity comedian and satirist. Whether you’re black, brown, green or purple, whether you’re Hispanic, White, African-American, Arab or Chinese, whether you’re liberal, conservative, libertarian or just plain apolitical, Jon just goes where the funny is (and sometimes it’s the jugular). Nobody gets a pass. And that’s exactly the way it should be.”

Unfortunately Rick it’s a little too late for sorry. You made your bed and you tried to pick a fight with one of the most powerful TV personalities. Now he is on top of the ratings, and where do you work now?

Gibson Developing Holocaust TV Movie

Mel Gibson is no stranger to controversy. E!Online reports that the Oscar-winning star, whose The Passion of the Christ came under fire for anti-Semitism, is developing a TV movie about the Holocaust.

The story will be adapted from the memoir of Flory A. Van Beek, a Dutch Jew who escaped with her life but lost family members to concentration camps.

In her book, Flory: Survival in the Valley of Death, Van Beek writes about fleeing Holland with her husband Felix. They escaped on a passenger ship bound for Chile that was sunk by a German mine and they finally managed to return to their homeland in 1940. With the help of his friends, Felix, a Christian, was able to hide Flory from the Nazis for three years.

Gibson, who is currently in Mexico shooting his Mayan epic Apocalypto, is also reportedly developing another film set in the Holy Land. It’s about the Maccabees, Jewish freedom fighters who rebel against their Roman occupiers.

“I don’t know him, all I know is he’s a staunch Catholic and the people who saved our lives are Catholic,” says Van Beek, who is now in her early 80s.

It’s unknown how long the movie will run, but network executives reportedly want to turn the project into a miniseries.
