Everyone knows the 90s are back! Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or have no sense of current fashion trends then I’ll excuse you for your lack of knowledge. However there are some 90s fashion trends that I expected to have stayed put in the 90s to be be never seen from again. Hair buns were one of those trends I assumed would be never resurrected. Unfortunately for us they are back, will they catch on? I hope not.
The Modern Interpretations
Here’s model Cara Delevingne (who’s practically walked every runway during this week’s New York Fashion Week) modelling for the new ad campaign for the DKNY and Opening Ceremony collaboration. Clearly the ad is going for a very 90s look with hair buns and all.
Here’s popstar Jessie J rocking the 90s hair buns on The Voice U.K. with her big hoop earrings and bright red lip she looks like she just time got out of her time machine.
Gwen Stefani is the queen of the mini hair buns. Someone as fashion forward as Stefani can no doubt (pun intended) pull out such an outrageous hair style. This modern interpretation is kind of tame compared to her wilder 90s hair days. You can be the judge and compare for yourself with the pics below.

“Silver Lining” – Jessie J
Wow, talk about a feel good track! Jessie J belts it out in her new song “Silver Lining (Crazy About You),” which will appear on the soundtrack for the new Bradley Cooper movie Silver Linings Playbook. Jessie strays from her usual urban pop vibe with this ballad, but it really gives her a chance to showcases her incredible voice. With a pounding beat, this track is anything but soft, and it’s a great reminder to always cherish life and look on the bright side when you’re down. Silver Linings Playbook is in theatres Nov. 21.
“Young Wild Girls” – Bruno Mars
Oh, Bruno Mars… with your sweet, luscious voice that gives me goosebumps every time, your fedora hat perched ever so perfectly on that beautiful head of yours… what I would give to date you for a single day! But alas, I’m but a mere girl destined to be forever alone as I pine for you, hoping to someday be the young, wild girl you sing about. Pretty much, dear readers, Bruno Mars’ new track is perfect, heartfelt, and catchy as always. I approve. Pick up Mars’ new album Unorthodox Jukebox on Dec. 11.

VIVA FOREVER! Spice Girls bring me back to my childhood

My five fave woman who taught me all there is to know (Girl power) performed at the closing ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic Games. If you were on Twitter while it happened, guys and girls of all ages were stoked for this one night reunion. I wish it could last a little bit longer, with another reunion tour..please? [j13jackson]
The Wanted play electric dog collar game #ouch

If there’s one “boy band” out there today that doesn’t care what they say, when they say it and are totally unleashed, it’s The Wanted. During an interview in New Zealand, the lads played a trivia game where Nathan and Jay had to wear an electric dog collar around their neck. (Okay seriously, how did they get away with this?) At least the guys were great sports and the whole thing was hilarious to watch. [jayssword]

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Jennifer Lawrence becomes a real life hero and Drake and Chris Brown are offered $1 million each to fight each other.
HIT: Jennifer Lawrence aids a girl who passed out on her lawn

Jennifer Lawrence became someone’s real life hero when she and her neighbours helped a girl who collapsed outside of her home. Look! Humanity in Hollywood does exist outside of over the top fundraisers! I suggest she be inducted into the hero-status celebrity club, which also consists of Johnny Depp and David Beckham.
MISS: Jessie J got stuck in the washroom at a Watch the Throne show

The singer’s fun night out turned into an embarrassing life moment when she and friend got stuck inside a washroom at Jay Z and Kanye’s show in London. Jessie J and a friend went to go touch up their make up, but her friend mistakenly locked the door even though it looked broken. They were there for about 15 minutes when security knocked the door down to rescue the two. Then they returned to their seats and all their unknowing friends were all like: “why the hell were you in the washroom so long? Locked door? Sure…”

Here I was thinking Usher’s new video for “Scream” would feature tons of ladies screaming their heads off in intense pleasure but alas, relying on the most literal approach when envisioning music videos isn’t always the best way to go (unless you’re Jessie J and the video is “Laserlight” or Maroon 5 and the video is “Payphone“).
Anyway, Usher’s new video does feature a few screaming fans at the end of the video (he’s basically orchestrating their cheers) but mostly it features shots of him running, dancing in a white suit and getting saucy with a sultry lady.
The BBGun-directed video also features footage from his off-broadway show Fuerza Bruta, performed this past April. The footage taken from the show includes a female cast member floating above him, suspended in a watery bubble.

Jessie J’s new video for “Laserlight” creatively appropriately features a lot of lasers and lights. The video’s plot is pretty non-existant, but we can’t blame her for staring in the mirror at her glitzy accessories. Throughout much of the video she wears gigantic gold hoops that makes me recall the 90s and a spiked leather jacket (drool).
This is the third single from her Who You Are album and her second collaboration with David Guetta. Though Guetta isn’t in the video, Jessie happily soaks up the strobe lights enough to make us want to dance.

I was once inspired by a celebrity to get side-swept bangs, but I’ve never inflicted personal injury on myself to be hospital buddies with someone I don’t know. That’s why I find it disturbing that one insane devoted Jessie J fan broke her leg to look like her idol. Ouch!
The teenager can’t be named for legal reasons, but she inflicted the injury on herself so she could wear a cast too. The teen then sent a photo of herself with a broken leg to Jessie J w with messages like: “I will do anything to be just like you.”
Needless to say, “The Voice” judge has stepped up her security and feels horrified that someone would go to such extreme measures to get her attention.
“She’s horrified this happened. Jessie’s a really, really sensitive and kind girl who loves keeping in touch with her fans,” a source told the The Sun. “But this incident was just too much for her and she ended up getting really frightened and upset.”
“She was sad that a fan hurt herself to look like her — but she was also scared for her own safety.
Here she is talking about her broken leg to NME last June:
If I could turn every song into a good acoustic version, I would. “Acoustic that please,” can be my new catch phrase.
Today Jessie J acoustified Rihanna’s “We Found Love” for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. The live version really showcases her pipes and puts a new spin on the song. I won’t say I like it better than the original, but it’s a fresh take on a song I’ve heard a little too much of lately. The singer also performed an acoustic version of her song “Domino,” but if you have to catch one out of the two, I’d definitely give this one a go.
