Jennifer Lopez Leaves Sony’s Epic Records

Jennifer Lopez ain’t so Epic these days.

Pop singer Jennifer Lopez has left her long-time label, Sony’s Epic Records, according to Eonline.

“Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music Group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction of her career as an actress and recording artist, she is grateful and appreciative to everyone at Sony for all that they accomplished together,” said Benny Medina, Lopez’s manager, in a statement on yesterday (Monday, Feb. 22).

This means that Lopez’s upcoming seventh studio album, Love?, is now without a record company. The CD was due out in April, but reportedly is not finished and might never be completed.

While rumours buzz around that Sony dropped Lopez, the official word remains that her contract expired and both parties opted not to renew it. J.Lo should not be out of the spotlight for long, though, as her team is reportedly already negotiating with another label, and the singer is set to play host and musical guest on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

Stars Flock to South Beach

Many celebrities spent the weekend in South Beach for the Super Bowl, reports E! News. The CAA held an exclusive party Saturday night at the W hotel. Attendees included Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as well as Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez.

Carrie Underwood, who sang the national anthem at Sunday’s game, was also in attendance, as were Jessica Alba, Adrien Grenier and Derek Jeter.

Director Michael Bay hosted a Big Give, Big Game party for charity at his mansion that same night. CW couples Ed Westwick and Jessica Szhor and AnnaLynne McCord and Kellan Lutz were spotted there.

Jennifer Lopez was scheduled to perform at the Axe Lounge at Liv. at 1 a.m., but the starlet didn’t take the stage until 2 a.m. Chase Crawford and Jessica Alba were present for the show. The Hills stars Kristin Cavallari, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt and Lo Bosworth were there filming for the reality show.

Jennifer Lopez Ex-Husband Sues for $100 Million

Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband, Ojani Noa, is countersuing the singer for $100 million, reports Perez Hilton. He is also suing her father, a business partner, her lawyer and the law firm for intentionally interfering with the production of his mockumentary.

“We are also suing for fraud,” said his agent, Ed Meyer. He says Lopez’s mother “previously sold some of Ojani Noa’s home video footage to Univision without Ojani Noa’s express permission for $30,000.”

A hearing is planned for Tuesday, but Meyer is doubtful it will go ahead.

“We believe that J. Lo.’s attorney did not meet the judge’s extended deadline to file his Proofs of Service, so TRO and OSC (Order to Show Cause) should legally not go forward on Tuesday,” he said.

He is also threatening to release a private honeymoon tape of Lopez to the public on Monday.

“I believe that I have an unalienable First Amendment right to enter the J. Lo. home videos into the public court record, so as to defend myself,” Meyer continued. “If Judge Chalfant has a problem with this, he can have me hauled out of the courtroom in handcuffs in front of the world media.”

J. Lo Subpoenaed to Testify in Diddy Lawsuit

Although Jennifer Lopez may have moved on from P. Diddy a long time ago, the singer-actress will have to relive her infamous night with him, reports TMZ.com

According to TMZ, Lopez was served last week with a subpoena, ordering Lopez to testify in a $130 million lawsuit over a 1999 nightclub shooting involving her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs and jailed Jamal “Shyne” Barrow. The lawsuit was brought forth by Natania Reuben, the victim shot in the face during the shooting.

Lopez was not called as a witness at the criminal trial of Diddy and Shyne. Although Diddy was exonerated, Shyne is now serving time for the incident.

J-Lo’s Baby Names

The wait is over. The speculation can subside. Gossip bloggers can stop holding their breath. The names of J-Lo’s instantly famous newborn twins have finally been released.

The twins managed to escape the outrageous-celebrity-baby-name curse with the short and sweet one syllable each titles: Max and Emme.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony reportedly waited to announce the names of their children until after the media hype over the births had died down.

Max and Emme were born on Feb. 22 as big sister arrived first at 12:12 a.m., weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces, and her little brother came in at 6-pounds, 11 minutes later.

“If they have [named the babies], they’re not disclosing them—good for them,” Lopez’s publicist told E! News on the day of the births.

Lopez’s manager then confirmed the names to People on Friday.

Interview: Jennifer Lopez Not Hesitant to Work With Husband Marc Anthony

The last time Jennifer Lopez appeared on the big screen with her other half, the world was punished with “Gigli.”

The film starred Lopez and Ben Affleck, her fiancé at the time, and was universally panned by critics and failed miserably at the box office. The relationship didn’t last much longer after the film’s release in 2003.

On Friday, Lopez’s latest film, “El Cantante,” was released in limited theatrical release and he co-star is none other than Marc Anthony, her (current) husband.

So weren’t Anthony and Lopez hesitant at all to work together?

“Absolutely!” Anthony says with a laugh, when andPOP posed the question to the couple at the Toronto Film Fest last year.

“We’ve worked together so many times,” Lopez interjects.

The couple’s working relationship dates back to 1999, when Lopez released her first album, “On the 6.” The album featured a Spanish duet, performed by Lopez and Anthony, called “No Me Ames,” which reached No. 1 on the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks chart even though she never released it as a single.

But they had never spent so much time together in a working environment until “El Cantante.”

The film tells the story of salsa singer Héctor Lavoe – from his contribution to Latin music to his battle with drugs and to his death at age 46 after battles with depression and AIDS.

It was Lavoe’s music that drew Anthony to this film.

“Héctor Lavoe is an icon in our community and got the chance to leave behind some amazing music,” he says. “This is a chance we got to tell his story.”

“It’s a tragic story,” Lopez tells andPOP, “but it’s a story of a real artist. And it’s a beautiful story in that sense because, like Marc said, he left behind an incredible legacy of music.”

Lopez To Appear On American Idol

JENNIFER LOPEZ is the latest star to sign on to appear on US hit reality competition AMERICAN IDOL.

The WAITING FOR TONIGHT singer is following in the footsteps of PRINCE and MARY J BLIGE and will appear on the sixth season of the show on April 11.

According to American publication Star, Anthony could also be joining his wife on the show.

A source explains, “It was Jennifer and Marc who approached American Idol, not the other way around.”

Other high-powered celebrity guests this season include DIANA ROSS, TONY BENNETT and GWEN STEFANI.

‘Dallas’ Loses J.Lo

Jennifer Lopez has dropped out of the new movie adaptation of ’80s TV show Dallas. No reason has been provided for the actress’ exit.

“She is out of ‘Dallas,’” said Lopez’s publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnick, on Thursday.

Lopez was set to play the role of scandalous alcoholic Sue Ellen Ewing. She would’ve starred opposite John Travolta, who has taken on the role of oil tycoon J.R. Ewing. No replacement has been named as of yet.

The film also lost its original director, Robert Luketic, earlier this year. He blamed his departure on “creative differences.”

Aside from Travolta, both Luke Wilson and Shirley MacLaine are still on-board with the project.

J.Lo Reality Show a Go

MTV has announced that Jennifer Lopez’s planned reality show, “Moves,” will go to air. The series follows the lives of dancers as they try to break into the world of show business.

Though she’s officially the show’s executive producer, Lopez will make cameo appearances throughout the season. She also played a substantial role in selecting and auditioning dancers. Six were chosen for the eight-episode series.

“I started out as a dancer, and I know what that world is,” the former ‘In Living Color’ Fly Girl told Billboard. “These dancers have dedicated their lives to this, and honestly, the glory is not always there. It’s something they do only out of love. It’s a tough life, and I want to show that struggle.”
