Posted on andPOP:

J.C. Chasez is hoping Justin Timberlake isn’t the only ‘N Sync-er who can make it big with a solo career. The 30-year-old former boybander has just finished recording his second solo album, set to be released early next year on Jive Records.

Chasez told Billboard he wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the as-yet-untitled album, which he worked on with celebrity producers Timbaland (who also masterminded Timberlake’s current number one, “FutureSex/LoveSounds”), Dallas Austin, and Jimmy Harry.

The first single from the sophomore release will be “Until Yesterday,” one of several tracks Chasez co-wrote with Timberlake. He’s not sure whether any of the others will appear on the upcoming record yet, but the single will hit radio Oct. 20.

While he and Timberlake are clearly still good friends, Chasez added it is unlikely ‘N Sync will be making a comeback as a group. “We had a great time, but we’re in different places in our minds now,” he told Billboard. “It ran its course. It’s like, ok, we went to high school, and now it’s over.”

Chasez’s first solo effort, 2004′s “Schizophrenic,” peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard 200.

“I Want You Back” was the group’s break out single in March of 1998. They followed with “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” “Bye Bye Bye,” and “Gone.”

During ‘N Sync’s five year chart reign, the group sold about 30 million records in the U.S. and 42 million worldwide.
