We all know Hilary Duff as a completely normal and rational celebrity.
But after giving birth to baby Luca Cruz in March, this new mother may have overshared some information when she revealed that she secretly kept the stump of her newborn’s umbilical cord.
“You know what was a big milestone? The belly button falling off. That was a huge one. And then I wanted to keep it but my husband was like, ‘No, that’s gross, you can’t keep it!’ I’m like, ‘I’m totally keeping it,’ and I secretly kept it.” Duff said in an interview with People.
“But now it’s not a secret anymore. It’s in a Ziploc bag in the back of my makeup drawer. Luca’s going to think I’m a freak!”
So, that’s it?
Keeping the umbilical cord is kind of gross, but at least she isn’t feeding chewed up food to her baby (*cough Alicia Silverstone*) or eating her own placenta like January Jones.
In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Jason Segel and Michelle Williams warm our icy hearts when they’re caught out on a date, and January Jones makes us want to puke with her placenta pills.
Hits
James Cameron goes down the Mariana Trench for science
The Titanic/Avatar director went 36,000 ft. below sea level for National Geographic. While he didn’t see any deep sea monsters, expect James Cameron to turn the sea into a metaphorical wasteland. As he said to National Geographic: “There had to be a moment where I just stopped, and took it in, and said ‘This is where I am; I’m at the bottom of the ocean, the deepest place on Earth. What does that mean?’” I don’t know, I just don’t know…
Hunger Games soundtrack debuts at number one
No surprises here. The Hunger Games soundtrack debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. It’s the first soundtrack to top the list in three years and features everyone from Taylor Swift to Kid Cudi to Arcade Fire.
Jason Segel and Michelle Williams are dating
Jason Segel and Michelle Williams are like Internet cats. Do we really need to see photos of them together? No. Do we want to? Yes, because like my favourite Internet cats, they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Misses
Courtney Stodden for PETA
PETA was on the right track when they lost a Kardashian, but somehow lost their way again when this this barely legal mound of plastic started publicly supporting them. It’s like they want their supporters to be 50 IQ points dumber.
Octomom poses topless for a European magazine, inspired universal gagging

Nadya Suleman finally discovered that having octuplets don’t make you famewhore money. So to pay rent, she decided to reveal it all (almost). Octomom said she “pinged back to shape like a rubberband,” but her body looks like it’s been Kate Gosselin’d, nipped and tucked all over.
January Jones eats her placenta in pill form
This last spot almost went to Alicia Silverstone feeding her baby like a bird. Then, I asked myself, who would even think to be all, “Doctor, after I pop this kid out, do you mind saving my placenta? It’s my version of a protein shake!” Famous people. That’s who.
Outspoken actor Zach Galifianakis has dissed Ke$ha, reports Canoe Jam.
Galifianakis says he has constantly denied Ke$ha’s requests for dates, and flat out bashed her music upon meeting the singer.
Ke$ha has previously stated that Galifianakis is her ideal man, admitting she has the hots for fat and bearded men, but Galifinakis apparently doesn’t have the same penchant for sleazy blonde popstars.
“I saw that Ke$ha woman the other day. She was sitting by herself, and I walked up to her and said, ‘Listen, I got your e-mail. Your music is really bad! I don’t know who listens to it, but I imagine it’s, like, six year olds – and it’s a bad message,’” he tells Rolling Stone Magazine.
This isn’t the first time the ‘Hangover’ star has publicly dissed a celebrity. Just recently, he took aim at actress January Jones, calling her “rude” and stating she is an actress “everybody’s going to forget about… in a few years”.
I love his outspoken nature! It’s not often celebrities are so open. I can’t say I blame him for denying a date with Ke$ha, I can only imagine how classy that evening would be.
After announcing last week that she was pregnant, January Jones’ ex Jason Sudeikis is left speechless about the news.
Even though the Saturday Night Live star can flawlessly recite a whole new set of dialogue each week, he was tongue tied when asked about his ex’s pregnancy and declined to say much at all when it came to talking about Jones, whom he broke up with in January.
“I’d rather — yes but no,” he said to the Washington Post when their interview shifted from his career to Jones’ unborn baby.
And when the actor was asked if he was surprised to hear about the pregnancy, his response was even more non-responsive.
“No, I–…No, I didn’t have anything [else to say].”
Awkward…..
But it seems like he knows just as much as we do.
Jones, who stars as Betty Draper on AMC’s Mad Men, has said that she will be a single mother and has not announced the identity of the father of the child.
Well, in that case, Sudeikis can breathe a sigh of relief…for now at least?
After watching the Lakers lose Thursday night, Mad Man star, January Jones, got into a car accident while driving home, reports TMZ.
The LAPD tells TMZ that Jones had been watching the game at a hotel and on her way back home several paparazzi began trailing her and she ended up driving her car straight into three other parked vehicles.
Jones then allegedly left the scene, leaving her license behind and walking to her house nearby to call the police. She was told that the police had arrived, and so she went back to the location of the accident. Jones says that the reason she fled was because the paparazzi were harassing her.
No arrest was made and no drugs or alcohol were suspected to have been involved. Also, the police have said that this will not be treated as a hit-and-run investigation.
Mad Men star January Jones recently swam in the ocean with sharks while in the Bahamas with Oceana, an environmental group that works to protect the oceans of the world, reports E! News. Her goal was to inform people that sharks are vital to ocean life and not as scary as their reputation may suggest.
“It’s exhilarating,” said Jones at Variety’s Power of Women luncheon where she was honoured for her work with the environmental group. “They’re beautiful creatures and to be in that close proximity with them was a dream come true.”
